:00:26. > :00:34.Police seal off a stretch of the Essex Road late last night.

:00:35. > :00:37.It was just minutes after this card mounted the pavement,

:00:38. > :00:44.Two men and a woman were taken to hospital - none are thought

:00:45. > :00:48.At the beginning, I guess the four or five minutes,

:00:49. > :00:51.I was not sure what's happening, because the car was broken,

:00:52. > :00:59.When you were seeing this and you were seeing

:01:00. > :01:02.lots of police around your house, how did it make you feel?

:01:03. > :01:05.I start to be worried and shaking to be honest,

:01:06. > :01:08.I was shaking in the window and a little bit hiding behind my

:01:09. > :01:12.curtain, because I was absolutely not sure what's happening.

:01:13. > :01:21.The only traces of what happened last night are these yellow markings

:01:22. > :01:24.on the road that show where the car travelled off the road,

:01:25. > :01:30.where many people would have been sat having a drink.

:01:31. > :01:31.It then travelled back onto the road,

:01:32. > :01:35.where it was left right in the middle, abandoned.

:01:36. > :01:38.The people in the car ran from the scene,

:01:39. > :01:40.where two knives were found - one inside the vehicle

:01:41. > :01:45.Police say the crash is not terror related,

:01:46. > :01:47.but following the attack in Westminster this week,

:01:48. > :01:50.many questioned whether this had a similar motive.

:01:51. > :01:53.I can quite understand why people have jumped to conclusions,

:01:54. > :01:58.but this wasn't a terrorist incident, this looks like crime.

:01:59. > :02:01.My thoughts go to those were terrified last night and those

:02:02. > :02:08.It's still not clear why the car veered onto the pavement last night.

:02:09. > :02:11.Police say an investigation is ongoing to find out

:02:23. > :02:24.up their largest community in London, say they could be forced

:02:25. > :02:27.to go their separate ways, because of the proposed

:02:28. > :02:28.redevelopment of the Elephant and Castle shopping centre.

:02:29. > :02:31.Dozens of Latin American traders have worked there for decades,

:02:32. > :02:40.but now the future looks uncertain, as Thomas Magill reports.

:02:44. > :02:45.It's the busiest day of the week for Luz.

:02:46. > :02:48.She's been cutting hair at the Elephant and Castle shopping

:02:49. > :02:50.centre for the last 25 years, but now she fears her livelihood

:02:51. > :02:57.It's like a family now, the community what we have,

:02:58. > :03:01.Latin American together, this is the place I start,

:03:02. > :03:08.and the place all my friends, my clients I make all these years.

:03:09. > :03:10.And she's not alone - there's over 100 other

:03:11. > :03:16.What made you guys come here all those years ago?

:03:17. > :03:18.Well, it was a very cheap place to invest...

:03:19. > :03:21.But that could change if new plans to redevelop

:03:22. > :03:25.the space get the go-ahead, something that has left many angry.

:03:26. > :03:28.One of the things that the planning application does not cover is,

:03:29. > :03:32.by policy, there should be 10% of retail space

:03:33. > :03:35.in big developments that should come as affordable units.

:03:36. > :03:40.That is not included in the planning application.

:03:41. > :03:42.Well, love it or hate it, there's no doubt

:03:43. > :03:46.the Elephant and Castle shopping centre is a local landmark,

:03:47. > :03:48.but look around, there's unprecedented change happening.

:03:49. > :03:52.There's tower blocks popping up all over the place,

:03:53. > :03:55.and now the owners of this key site want to do the same.

:03:56. > :03:58.They want to build this, 1000 new homes, a cultural centre,

:03:59. > :04:04.a new university campus and retail units.

:04:05. > :04:07.But critics say the new shops won't be affordable

:04:08. > :04:09.or accessible to the smaller existing retailers.

:04:10. > :04:14.In a statement, the owners said that retaining local and specialist

:04:15. > :04:29.retailers is key to our ambition to support the diverse vibrancy

:04:30. > :04:32.of the area, and we will continue to help

:04:33. > :04:35.The shopping centre has had many makeovers, extensions

:04:36. > :04:38.and even a change of colour, but now, after 52 years,

:04:39. > :04:41.its owners feel the time has come for a complete restyle.

:04:42. > :04:44.Football now, and an international friendly to be played tomorrow

:04:45. > :04:47.in London between Nigeria and Burkina Faso has been called off.

:04:48. > :04:50.The match was due to be played at Barnet FC's Hive Stadium,

:04:51. > :04:54.but seven Burkino Faso players couldn't get visas to come.

:05:20. > :05:22.cloud creeping across, but temperatures shouldn't fall much

:05:23. > :05:29.Nonetheless, a chilly start to the new working week,

:05:30. > :05:32.but a bright one, some low cloud around initially will quickly go,

:05:33. > :05:34.and then we have another fine and mainly sunny day,

:05:35. > :05:37.perhaps just a little bit more cloud coming and going

:05:38. > :05:40.But still highs 16, maybe even 17 Celsius,

:05:41. > :05:43.so it should feel a little bit warmer.

:05:44. > :05:46.more of the same on Tuesday and Wednesday,

:05:47. > :05:49.but otherwise no rain in the forecast.
