:03:53. > :03:55.and now the owners of this key site want to do the same.
:03:56. > :03:58.They want to build this, 1000 new homes, a cultural centre,
:03:59. > :04:04.a new university campus and retail units.
:04:05. > :04:07.But critics say the new shops won't be affordable
:04:08. > :04:09.or accessible to the smaller existing retailers.
:04:10. > :04:14.In a statement, the owners said that retaining local and specialist
:04:15. > :04:29.retailers is key to our ambition to support the diverse vibrancy
:04:30. > :04:32.of the area, and we will continue to help
:04:33. > :04:35.The shopping centre has had many makeovers, extensions
:04:36. > :04:38.and even a change of colour, but now, after 52 years,
:04:39. > :04:41.its owners feel the time has come for a complete restyle.
