:00:13. > :00:14.Good evening, welcome to BBC London News.

:00:15. > :00:20.The first Church of England vicar to marry a same-sex partner carried

:00:21. > :00:26.The Reverand Andrew Foreshew-Cain will leave his parish in Kilburn,

:00:27. > :00:28.but branded the church institutionally homophobic,

:00:29. > :00:31.after being denied the chance to move to another parish.

:00:32. > :00:40.This is no ordinary service, more like the front line of a battle

:00:41. > :00:47.After 19 years as the vicar in this parish in

:00:48. > :00:49.Kilburn, today's Reverend Andrew's last day.

:00:50. > :00:56.He feels the Church of England is forcing him to, because he

:00:57. > :01:03.upset today, I imagine, or do you not feel upset?

:01:04. > :01:11.One is sadness at leaving a parish which I really love.

:01:12. > :01:15.My other emotion is perhaps one of relief, at no longer being in an

:01:16. > :01:20.organisation which treats homosexual people quite so badly as it does.

:01:21. > :01:22.When his husband's job took him to Manchester,

:01:23. > :01:26.wanted to be, but a stark warning from the church's hierarchy meant

:01:27. > :01:28.getting a new parish was never going to happen.

:01:29. > :01:30.I've been officially disciplined for getting married.

:01:31. > :01:35.And when that happened, it was made very

:01:36. > :01:38.clear to me that were I ever to leave these parishes I would never

:01:39. > :01:40.work for the Church of England again.

:01:41. > :01:43.The Church of England is without a shadow of a doubt

:01:44. > :01:46.It has policies and practices on its books

:01:47. > :01:48.and in the way it behaves that directly discriminates

:01:49. > :01:52.We did ask the Church of England for an interview,

:01:53. > :01:55.but instead we got a statement from the Bishop of Edmonton.

:01:56. > :01:56.Three paragraphs of unadulterated praise

:01:57. > :02:01.But not one single mention of the issue as to

:02:02. > :02:08.The fact is, although civil partnerships are

:02:09. > :02:10.acceptable, for the Church of England, marriage

:02:11. > :02:14.is solely the union between a man and a woman for life.

:02:15. > :02:16.The Reverend's battle between heart and soul

:02:17. > :02:21.him or his parishioners, but for the Church

:02:22. > :02:23.of England it's a line that

:02:24. > :02:29.A number of families in Reading are spending a second night

:02:30. > :02:31.in temporary accommodation, after a crane collapsed

:02:32. > :02:38.And today expert engineers from the Netherlands travelled

:02:39. > :02:44.to the UK to assess the damage, as Joe Campbell reports.

:02:45. > :02:47.As the emergency operation was scaled back today people might have

:02:48. > :02:54.It could be 12 o'clock, it could be three o'clock,

:02:55. > :02:56.it could be eight o'clock, I don't know.

:02:57. > :02:58.Residents of around 60 flats have been forced out of their

:02:59. > :03:07.There were some parents with children and so on, so we needed to

:03:08. > :03:09.get them off the streets, which we did.

:03:10. > :03:11.Luckily, the Greyfriars Church over the road had opened their doors

:03:12. > :03:17.and helped us to receive the evacuees in the very, very short

:03:18. > :03:19.term, and then we moved them onwards from

:03:20. > :03:20.the Greyfriars Church to

:03:21. > :03:22.a local evacuation centre at a hotel.

:03:23. > :03:25.The police helicopter revealed the full scale of what has happened.

:03:26. > :03:28.The 60 metre long crane jib resting across the top of Primark's

:03:29. > :03:31.BW, the firm refurbishing the site, were today

:03:32. > :03:32.referring all enquiries to Thames Valley Police.

:03:33. > :03:35.Who are being assisted by the Health and Safety

:03:36. > :03:36.Executive as the investigation into why things went

:03:37. > :03:57.The crane was putting heavy items on the top.

:03:58. > :03:59.But unfortunately the item was very heavy and it slid.

:04:00. > :04:04.Damage to the building was today plainly visible to

:04:05. > :04:08.The crane has now been righted, as you can see, but the

:04:09. > :04:11.question is just what damage, if any, it suffered when it fell

:04:12. > :04:14.After an inspection by its Dutch owners, they

:04:15. > :04:16.found it could not be retracted under its own power.

:04:17. > :04:18.This afternoon experts began the lengthy process of

:04:19. > :04:28.And it was the final day of RideLondon today.

:04:29. > :04:31.25,000 people cycled through the capital.

:04:32. > :04:34.Roads were closed throughout the day,

:04:35. > :04:39.but, good news for drivers, all roads have now re-opened.

:04:40. > :04:41.And a quick looks at tomorrow's weather, well, it's sunny

:04:42. > :04:44.spells for most of us, with the odd short

:04:45. > :04:48.It'll be breezy, but feeling a bit warmer than today in the sun,

:04:49. > :04:53.with maximum temperatures of 23 degrees celsius.

:04:54. > :05:02.That's it from the late team. Assad will be here from tomorrow morning

:05:03. > :05:05.from six with Breakfast, but from all of us here, goodbye.

:05:06. > :05:18.There has been a lot of heavy and at times fund showers around, but over

:05:19. > :05:21.the next couple of days we will start to see a little more in the

:05:22. > :05:25.way of sunshine come the showers coming few as well. This picture was

:05:26. > :05:29.taken by a Weather Watcher in Devon, not a bad day to be on the beach,

:05:30. > :05:36.but a different story inland. Okehampton has about a month's brain

:05:37. > :05:39.in about six hours, this rather innocuous line of peninsular showers

:05:40. > :05:45.have been there for a while. Some thick cloud moving the Aristide to

:05:46. > :05:49.move some downpours into Wales and Northern Ireland and Scotland as

:05:50. > :05:52.well as Northern Ireland. They are easing in intensity later on and

:05:53. > :05:56.towards the south-east it may well be dry and clear, temper just 12 or

:05:57. > :06:01.13. Quite a sinister at the many areas of England and Wales, but

:06:02. > :06:02.there will be a few showers blown in as well, but not as
