0:00:27 > 0:00:30by law but it comes as the industry regulator, Ofwat, is set
0:00:30 > 0:00:33to investigate why thousands of homes and businesses went
0:00:33 > 0:00:36without water for up to a week.

0:00:44 > 0:00:47It has been a frustrating week for Thames water customers as vast
0:00:47 > 0:00:49quantities of drinking water ran down the drain or flooded roads,
0:00:49 > 0:00:53schools, care homes, businesses and tens of thousands
0:00:53 > 0:00:58of people found themselves without.
0:00:58 > 0:01:01Charlie Pollard, who lives in Kennington, only got his water
0:01:01 > 0:01:04back on yesterday after being without for more than six days.
0:01:06 > 0:01:09It has essentially made the flat unliveable.
0:01:09 > 0:01:12You can't do your washing, you can't cook pasta,
0:01:12 > 0:01:16and you have to go out and buy bottles of water
0:01:16 > 0:01:18to fill the kettle with.
0:01:18 > 0:01:22Thames Water are offering compensation and so you will get £50
0:01:22 > 0:01:28if you have been without water for between 12 and 24 hours.
0:01:28 > 0:01:30100 hours for between 24 and 48 hours,
0:01:38 > 0:01:41£100 for between 24 and 48 hours, and £150 for more than two days.
0:01:41 > 0:01:45So what does Charlie think of that?
0:01:45 > 0:01:48If they are lumping in everybody 48 hours plus into the same bucket,
0:01:48 > 0:01:49that's completely unreasonable.
0:01:49 > 0:01:52But the second part is more the procedure to get
0:01:52 > 0:01:55the compensation, and having been hung up on and tweeting my MP,
0:01:55 > 0:01:58who has been great and acted on my behalf, but the fact we have
0:01:58 > 0:02:01had to be so proactive in getting information out of Thames Water
0:02:01 > 0:02:05meant that £150 felt unfair.
0:02:05 > 0:02:09Thames Water say it is right that customers are properly compensated
0:02:09 > 0:02:12and that they have worked around the clock to
0:02:12 > 0:02:15get everything back to normal.
0:02:15 > 0:02:19But serious questions by local MPs and customers are being asked.
0:02:19 > 0:02:23Now the regulator will investigate why tens of thousands of people
0:02:23 > 0:02:33were left without a vital public service for several days.
