0:00:00 > 0:00:03The money works out to more than £700,000.

0:00:03 > 0:00:05time for the news where you are. to more than £700,000.

0:00:05 > 0:00:09Goodbye. to more than £700,000.

0:00:13 > 0:00:15Good evening, I'm Asad Ahmad.

0:00:15 > 0:00:1813 people have been injured after a man drove a 4x4 into a busy

0:00:18 > 0:00:20nightclub in Gravesend.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22There were immediate fears of it being a terrorist attack -

0:00:22 > 0:00:24with one witness describing it as "a complete mess

0:00:24 > 0:00:31of panic and chaos".

0:00:31 > 0:00:33The vehicle ploughed into Blake's nightclub on Queen Street -

0:00:33 > 0:00:40from where Caroline Davis reports.

0:00:40 > 0:00:48Panic, shouting and screaming, this was Blake's nightclub in

0:00:48 > 0:00:50Gravesend moments after a 4x4 car drove into it.

0:00:50 > 0:00:52My God, I nearly died.

0:00:52 > 0:00:55So, I'm in this club and this car comes through the

0:00:55 > 0:00:56front, look.

0:00:56 > 0:00:59BBC radio presenter Reece Parkinson was in the club.

0:00:59 > 0:01:00He couldn't believe what he was seeing.

0:01:00 > 0:01:04What is going on?

0:01:04 > 0:01:11My first thought was people are going to jump out the

0:01:11 > 0:01:14car, I'm thinking the worst, and this is like a terror

0:01:14 > 0:01:15attack essentially.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17We heard like a massive bang, everyone was screaming and then

0:01:18 > 0:01:19shouting and pushing.

0:01:19 > 0:01:20Chloe Germaney was also inside, scared that

0:01:20 > 0:01:26something else would happen.

0:01:26 > 0:01:29I sent my family like a text and everything

0:01:29 > 0:01:34saying where I was and that I love them and stuff like that because

0:01:34 > 0:01:35automatically I just didn't know what was going to happen.

0:01:35 > 0:01:37This is the car after the crash.

0:01:37 > 0:01:41Police have said that the incident isn't terror related.

0:01:41 > 0:01:45Instead, they think that the driver had been asked to leave

0:01:45 > 0:01:47the club earlier in the night after an altercation.

0:01:47 > 0:01:49They've arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of

0:01:49 > 0:01:50attempted murder.

0:01:50 > 0:01:53This is the tented smoking area the car drove into.

0:01:53 > 0:01:56You might even be able to make out the

0:01:56 > 0:01:59roof of the car, which is still in there.

0:01:59 > 0:02:03Police are continuing with their investigations, but it's

0:02:03 > 0:02:07believed the car drove down this alleyway into that tent and a crowd.

0:02:07 > 0:02:11So far, 13 people are known to be injured but there may be more who

0:02:11 > 0:02:12left the club during the panic.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14None of the injuries are thought to be

0:02:14 > 0:02:17life-threatening.

0:02:17 > 0:02:19The owners of the club have released a statement

0:02:19 > 0:02:22online calling the action unpredictable and selfish.

0:02:22 > 0:02:24They praised their door team for helping

0:02:24 > 0:02:27to apprehend the driver, calling them heroic.

0:02:27 > 0:02:34Police are continuing to investigate exactly what happened

0:02:34 > 0:02:38here, bringing fear and confusion to a Saturday night out.

0:02:38 > 0:02:40Caroline Davis, BBC London News.

0:02:40 > 0:02:45Nine months on from the Grenfell Tower -

0:02:45 > 0:02:47Nine months on from the Grenfell Tower fire -

0:02:47 > 0:02:49there are warnings that dozens of local businesses face

0:02:49 > 0:02:51closure after the sudden drop in customers -

0:02:51 > 0:02:52and difficulties in recruiting staff.

0:02:52 > 0:02:55It's why money's been pledged to help the economy

0:02:55 > 0:02:57of North Kensington, but there is concern that it

0:02:57 > 0:02:58might not be enough.

0:02:58 > 0:03:03A short walk from Grenfell Tower and shutters on shops and for sale signs

0:03:03 > 0:03:06on businesses are clearly noticeable.

0:03:06 > 0:03:09While most of the focus over the past nine months has been

0:03:09 > 0:03:12on finding homes for those affected by the fire,

0:03:12 > 0:03:18the Portobello Business Centre says many businesses are now

0:03:18 > 0:03:21on the brink of closure with some reporting sales down by 70% and

0:03:21 > 0:03:28difficulties in recruiting staff.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30We lost in the takings £57,000 in the

0:03:30 > 0:03:33fire in 12 weeks to 15 weeks.

0:03:33 > 0:03:35You've got to look at it at a different

0:03:35 > 0:03:38angle, you've got to look at it in how you're going to go forward.

0:03:38 > 0:03:41So, to help businesses, City Hall has earmarked

0:03:41 > 0:03:44£100,000, and it is separate to the grants and rate relief already

0:03:44 > 0:03:45offered by the council.

0:03:45 > 0:03:50We've put together a package of over £500,000

0:03:50 > 0:03:53in order to give them support and to get them back on their feet.

0:03:53 > 0:03:55But importantly, we are trying to give

0:03:55 > 0:03:59them support in their local area, because clearly the local area has

0:03:59 > 0:04:00been affected by a large decant of people.

0:04:00 > 0:04:04It's been slow and it's been grudging.

0:04:04 > 0:04:08Yes, they did give rate relief for businesses but in the

0:04:08 > 0:04:11immediate area, and I'm talking about the impact on a wider area.

0:04:11 > 0:04:13I see vacancies and empty offices,

0:04:13 > 0:04:17empty shops, empty business premises.

0:04:17 > 0:04:20For Shaun Bailey from the London Assembly who grew up around

0:04:20 > 0:04:22here, local businesses provide vital opportunities to young people.

0:04:22 > 0:04:27I've worked up and down the Portobello Road.

0:04:27 > 0:04:30I used to work in the Fantastic Store comic shop there for years.

0:04:30 > 0:04:31It was great fun.

0:04:31 > 0:04:33But the real thing about local

0:04:33 > 0:04:35business is how much work it brings here, how much vibrancy

0:04:35 > 0:04:37it brings to the area.

0:04:37 > 0:04:39So, the area faces economic as well as

0:04:39 > 0:04:40social challenges.

0:04:40 > 0:04:43But as many have observed since the fire last June,

0:04:43 > 0:04:48the resilience of local people is likely to win through.

0:04:48 > 0:04:51Thousands of Londoners - and not just Irish ones -

0:04:51 > 0:04:54have been celebrating St Patrick's Day -

0:04:54 > 0:04:57by taking part in a parade which started at Hyde Park Corner

0:04:57 > 0:05:02and went to Trafalgar Square - where the celebrations continued.

0:05:02 > 0:05:07A mini-Irish Film Festival took place too.

0:05:07 > 0:05:08If you thought we took place too.

0:05:08 > 0:05:08If you thought we would took place too.

0:05:08 > 0:05:08If you thought we would have took place too.

0:05:08 > 0:05:08If you thought we would have plenty took place too.

0:05:08 > 0:05:12If you thought we would have plenty of snow today, so did I.

0:05:12 > 0:05:14If you thought we would have plenty of snow today, so did I.

0:05:14 > 0:05:15Hello, good evening.

0:05:15 > 0:05:17Still possibly a few late snow showers around.

0:05:17 > 0:05:20We've still got a Met Office weather warning valid

0:05:20 > 0:05:22until midnight for snow and ice, and that warning is just

0:05:22 > 0:05:23for ice into tomorrow morning.

0:05:23 > 0:05:25Some slippery surfaces around the start

0:05:25 > 0:05:27of the day, difficult driving conditions maybe, and of course,

0:05:27 > 0:05:31their widespread frost, so it's cloudy and cold tomorrow morning.

0:05:31 > 0:05:34a widespread frost, so it's cloudy and cold tomorrow morning.

0:05:34 > 0:05:38But tomorrow it's going to feel a bit more cheerful and a bit less

0:05:38 > 0:05:38cold.

0:05:38 > 0:05:41The wind is lighter coming in from the north, the cloud will

0:05:41 > 0:05:43thin and break particularly into the afternoon.

0:05:43 > 0:05:45And we'll get some decent sunshine around and temperatures

0:05:45 > 0:05:47will be higher, four or five Celsius, those temperatures will

0:05:47 > 0:05:49continue to improve through the week.

0:05:49 > 0:05:50That's it.

0:05:50 > 0:05:52We are back at the slightly later time of 10:40pm denied because of

0:05:52 > 0:05:54the football overrunning

0:05:54 > 0:05:54Enjoy your evening.

0:05:54 > 0:05:58Bye for now.
