:00:07. > :00:10.Hello and welcome to a new week on Look East with Susie and me.

:00:10. > :00:13.In the programme tonight: Four men from Luton appear in court accused

:00:13. > :00:16.of plotting a terrorist attack in the UK.

:00:16. > :00:21.Parts of the region go on flood alert tonight as the wettest April

:00:21. > :00:24.on record puts rivers at risk of bursting their banks.

:00:24. > :00:28.It's a record year for the metal thieves, but the police claim they

:00:28. > :00:30.are now beating them. Security alert at our museums after

:00:30. > :00:40.Chinese treasures valued at millions of pounds vanished from

:00:40. > :00:52.

:00:52. > :00:56.Of the Prime Minister was forced to abandon a visit to Milton Keynes

:00:56. > :01:03.today after he was summoned to Parliament over the Jeremy Hunt

:01:03. > :01:09.affair. He had to turn back. He was due to

:01:09. > :01:14.visit party activists on the build- up to the local elections this week.

:01:14. > :01:19.BAA committee was gathering when they found out about the news he

:01:19. > :01:27.was returning to London. Party officials were trying to look at

:01:27. > :01:31.the bright side. It is a lovely day. As you can see, I am not worried,

:01:31. > :01:36.we are going back out on the streets.

:01:36. > :01:42.He would have defended the need for spending cuts and he was going to

:01:42. > :01:47.visit a nearby a firm that specialises in PlusNet technology.

:01:47. > :01:51.This is the kind of company that could lead us out of recession.

:01:51. > :02:00.Most people we spoke to in Bletchley are tightening their

:02:00. > :02:06.belts. We have to pay the bills and keep up with financial commitments.

:02:06. > :02:13.However, there is no increase in salaries so it is tough.

:02:13. > :02:20.country is in a mess. Nobody has any money. You have to ride it out.

:02:20. > :02:25.Spending cuts have to be made and we can't complain. Labour wants

:02:25. > :02:30.this week's elections to be a referendum on the economy. The

:02:30. > :02:33.shadow chancellor was campaigning in Norwich yesterday.

:02:33. > :02:40.Conservatives said their plan would work. If you raise taxes earlier,

:02:40. > :02:44.you can get unemployment down and it has not worked. While the Lib

:02:44. > :02:49.Dems are using the Jeremy Hunt scandal to show how different they

:02:49. > :02:55.are to the others. We have signed up all the links with Blair, Ed

:02:55. > :02:59.Miliband, Cameron and Osborne, we have had to work hard. The Prime

:02:59. > :03:06.Minister hopes to rearrange his visit to Milton Keynes but it won't

:03:06. > :03:11.be before Thursday. Four men arrested in Luton have

:03:11. > :03:15.been charged with plotting a terrorist attack in the UK. All

:03:15. > :03:19.four were remanded in custody after a hearing at Westminster

:03:19. > :03:24.magistrates court. There were six main charges and they kick --

:03:24. > :03:29.include carrying out an attack, researching an attack and raising

:03:29. > :03:33.money from overseas to fund their activities. The prosecution claimed

:03:33. > :03:37.one of the targets was the Territorial Army centre in Luton.

:03:38. > :03:47.Sally Chidzoy is at Westminster magistrates court. What else was

:03:48. > :03:55.

:03:55. > :03:58.said? Let us go through those names again. They are all from Luton and

:03:58. > :04:07.brought to Westminster magistrates court for their parents which

:04:07. > :04:12.lasted under 20 minutes. The men, who wore tracksuits or two next,

:04:12. > :04:17.all are British citizens, one of Bangladeshi origin and one from

:04:17. > :04:22.Pakistani background and they spoke to confirm their names and ages.

:04:22. > :04:28.The thrust of the case is that they were allegedly planning attacks in

:04:28. > :04:35.the UK, including an attack on the Territorial Army centre in Luton.

:04:35. > :04:40.It is alleged that they worked for Al-Qaeda and planned to carry out

:04:40. > :04:47.attacks on coalition forces on the Pakistani and Afghan border. Last

:04:47. > :04:53.week, they were arrested at various addresses in Luton. There was a 5th

:04:53. > :05:00.man who was arrested and he was released without charge. The list

:05:00. > :05:06.of charges is quite detailed, isn't it? They go into considerable

:05:06. > :05:13.detail, talking about encouraging travel overseas, encouraging in --

:05:13. > :05:20.encouraging physical training, downloading, researching and using

:05:20. > :05:24.electronic files on a jihadi website. Also collecting and

:05:24. > :05:30.supplying funds for terrorist purposes overseas. The men are

:05:30. > :05:36.charged with having various documents in a position, for

:05:36. > :05:40.example 44 ways to support Jihad and techniques of silent killing

:05:40. > :05:46.and Al-Qaeda at Manuals. They will appear at the Old Bailey on May

:05:46. > :05:51.11th. My parts of the region are on flood

:05:51. > :05:56.alert tonight after the heavy rain. This evening, a large caravan park

:05:56. > :06:00.in Northamptonshire is being evacuated. We've got more than half

:06:00. > :06:04.the average total for the whole of April this weekend. The Environment

:06:04. > :06:14.Agency says many rivers are in danger of bursting their banks and

:06:14. > :06:19.the problem could get worse. This is I broke a reservoir.

:06:19. > :06:27.Because of the rain this weekend, it needs to release 280 million

:06:27. > :06:31.gallons of water into the river. A warning has been issued for homes.

:06:31. > :06:36.It is worrying when you see it coming up like this but because it

:06:36. > :06:41.has happened for five times before, it will be on the far side.

:06:41. > :06:47.these drivers are said to have helped others who were not as

:06:47. > :06:54.equipped as themselves. Many vehicles did get through. A flood

:06:54. > :07:04.diversion signs left this car stuck in a field. My a navigator did not

:07:04. > :07:08.

:07:08. > :07:18.show me this road. Matthew Spencer questioned the doubt of a rising

:07:18. > :07:23.water levels. This river at Huntington is no longer passable

:07:23. > :07:29.because of the excessive water levels and a fallen tree. This is

:07:30. > :07:37.Great Shelford, many issues -- one of the many places issued with a

:07:37. > :07:43.flood warning. Peter Elliott's asparagus crop is under water.

:07:43. > :07:48.has serious implications on certain areas of asparagus. I suspect it

:07:48. > :07:54.will die back and we won't Harvester it. If although the flood

:07:54. > :08:00.situation has improved, so too will come the warnings. We have quite

:08:00. > :08:10.high a river levels Stella in existence. We would like people to

:08:10. > :08:15.

:08:16. > :08:23.There are serious worries that the Billing Aquadrome in

:08:23. > :08:33.Northamptonshire, the biggest caravan site in the region is on

:08:33. > :08:40.alert. What is the situation there tonight? We have been advised to do

:08:40. > :08:50.a precautionary evacuation. We are doing that now. We have been in the

:08:50. > :09:00.process for 2 1/2 hours. How close is the water to coming into the

:09:00. > :09:01.

:09:01. > :09:09.side? The waters have risen but the biggest issue is the rainfall that

:09:09. > :09:17.is due. When did you first hear you were going to be moved out and what

:09:17. > :09:27.is your reaction? I found out about 30 minutes ago when I returned from

:09:27. > :09:29.

:09:29. > :09:36.work. It is a big park and we have had to evacuate. Do you know where

:09:36. > :09:46.you are going tonight? I know where I am going, yes. Would you like to

:09:46. > :09:47.

:09:47. > :09:54.share that? I will be going to my brother's house. What is the mood

:09:54. > :10:01.genuinely? I have to say, it has been fantastic. Everybody has

:10:01. > :10:05.worked well together. We have a robust plan that is put into place.

:10:05. > :10:11.All of the holidaymakers have worked with first and we are

:10:11. > :10:21.evacuating at a high rate of knots. If the water does get in, what

:10:21. > :10:27.damage would you expect to be done? It will be low level damage. It

:10:28. > :10:33.won't be all over the park. It is nothing that we couldn't cope with.

:10:33. > :10:39.Thank you for being with us. I hope everything remains safe.

:10:39. > :10:44.We have had quite an April. It feels like it has rained every day

:10:44. > :10:53.this month. He would be almost right, with the

:10:53. > :11:01.exception of the 1st April, was the only complete dry day. As for the

:11:01. > :11:06.beginning of May, I will be back later with a full forecast.

:11:06. > :11:16.More to come including the goals from the weekend full bore.

:11:16. > :11:22.

:11:22. > :11:26.A plus the great art theft from a A footballer from Essex left

:11:26. > :11:32.partially paralysed after a nightclub -- a nightclub brawl

:11:32. > :11:36.could soon be home. Nicky Morgan was injured outside a nightclub in

:11:36. > :11:40.Brentford. This weekend, he was back on the pitch to celebrate his

:11:40. > :11:46.club winning the league. It is the day Nicky Morgan was dreaming of,

:11:46. > :11:52.back on his feet. The goalkeeper returned to their hero's welcome.

:11:52. > :11:58.Amazing. It is a day and did not think would happen. A long time ago.

:11:58. > :12:02.It was not at the front of my mind. It was a goal to aspire to.

:12:02. > :12:08.months ago, Nicky was taken to the Queen's Hospital in Romford, unable

:12:08. > :12:11.to move from the shoulders down. He was transferred to the spinal unit

:12:11. > :12:16.at Stoke Mandeville. Look East went to visit him in February as he

:12:16. > :12:21.began to get more feeling in his legs. Since then, his progression

:12:21. > :12:26.has been remarkable. I was not prepared to sit back and let this

:12:26. > :12:33.be me. I still need to work on my arms but I am totally independent.

:12:33. > :12:37.-- let his defeat me. I have done it in the last month. His return

:12:37. > :12:41.was a double celebration for fans of the club, they just won the

:12:41. > :12:47.league for the first time. He was able to watch from the sidelines

:12:47. > :12:51.and join his team-mates to collect a medal. He has been such a large

:12:51. > :12:56.part of our season even though he's not been here. I really believe,

:12:56. > :13:00.and the players do as well, that he helped us in our promotion. He

:13:00. > :13:06.drove everyone on. I'm not sure we would be where we are if it was not

:13:06. > :13:11.for Nicky. His next step is to be discharged from hospital. The

:13:11. > :13:15.ultimate aim is to play for his club again.

:13:15. > :13:19.Two men have appeared in court, charged with murdering a 29 year-

:13:19. > :13:25.old man in Clacton. Oliver Smith- Daye died after he was attacked in

:13:25. > :13:29.a car park on New year's Day. Charlie Roberts and Alan Didier

:13:29. > :13:34.will face trial along with a woman who was charged earlier.

:13:34. > :13:38.Controversial plans to convert a pub in King's Lynn into an Islamic

:13:38. > :13:42.community centre have been approved by councillors. There were more

:13:42. > :13:47.than 700 objections, but the West Norfolk Islamic Association says

:13:47. > :13:50.the plan for the Queen's Arms will build bridges in the community. The

:13:50. > :13:54.English Democrats are stepping up their campaign in Essex. They are

:13:54. > :13:58.fighting for an English parliament. They what makes in George's they

:13:58. > :14:03.are public holiday and wants to inject some commonsense into local

:14:03. > :14:11.politics. We are English nationalists and we are looking for

:14:11. > :14:17.an English parliament. We do not see why when Scotland is moving

:14:17. > :14:21.towards independence England should not be recognised. Norwich City

:14:21. > :14:23.will be playing in the Premier League this season. Their safety

:14:23. > :14:28.was mathematically guaranteed despite being outclassed by

:14:28. > :14:33.Liverpool at the weekend. Norwich lost 3-0 but with other

:14:33. > :14:38.results going for them, Premier League safety is now secure.

:14:38. > :14:42.Saturday's game will be remembered for several reasons, but above all

:14:42. > :14:48.a sensational goal by Luis Suarez. It will no doubt be replayed for

:14:48. > :14:55.many years to come. Norwich against Liverpool, a highlight in the

:14:55. > :15:00.camera. For the away supporters it was a dream. For the home fans it

:15:00. > :15:05.was a bit of a nightmare. Spirits were dampened. If Carlos Tevez had

:15:05. > :15:10.given the Norwich defence sleepless nights, another South American

:15:10. > :15:16.meant those memories resurfaced all too quickly. Luis Suarez pounced on

:15:16. > :15:24.a mistake to fire Liverpool ahead. His second was even better. Another

:15:24. > :15:31.error, Luis Suarez balls the net. In the second path, Liverpool

:15:31. > :15:38.should have added to their goals sooner. He inexplicably decided to

:15:38. > :15:48.try a cheeky check. Who can question his judgment? Shortly

:15:48. > :15:53.after, he did best. What a goal! a season saturated by positives,

:15:53. > :16:03.one worrying statistic stands out. This is the 7th time they have let

:16:03. > :16:06.

:16:06. > :16:15.They boast only two clean sheets in 36 Premier League games. 63 goals

:16:15. > :16:22.in all. Three mistakes, three goals. Luis Suarez is quality. All about

:16:22. > :16:28.Luis Suarez. What an individual performance. He was brilliant.

:16:28. > :16:32.are paid 10, at the end of the day he will punish you. He and

:16:32. > :16:36.Liverpool exposed areas of concern. With Norwich guaranteed another

:16:36. > :16:40.season in the top flight, this result will soon League -- soon be

:16:40. > :16:45.forgotten. Ipswich finish their Championship

:16:45. > :16:50.campaign in a disappointing 15th position. They finished on a high,

:16:51. > :16:55.beating Doncaster at 3-2. Tommy Smith, Ryan Stevenson and Jason

:16:55. > :16:59.Scotland scored the goals for Ipswich Town. Where did it all go

:16:59. > :17:04.wrong for Paul Jewell? It started so well, the first goal of the

:17:04. > :17:08.season they beat Bristol City. Four defeats in August, including that

:17:08. > :17:12.7-1 thrashing by Peterborough, brought them down the table. There

:17:12. > :17:17.was a brief respite but it was October and November that destroyed

:17:17. > :17:27.their season. Seven defeats in a role. The Sun to 21st and were in

:17:27. > :17:29.

:17:29. > :17:33.danger of relegation. From then on, it was damage limitation. Next

:17:33. > :17:38.season will be without Grant Leadbitter, who is leaving the club

:17:38. > :17:43.in the summer. In League Two, great news for Southend, they can still

:17:43. > :17:47.gain automatic promotion. 2-0 win over Oxford was just what they

:17:47. > :17:51.needed. Results went their way, meaning they can still go up to

:17:51. > :17:55.League One without the need for play-offs. To go to the last game

:17:55. > :17:58.of the season with an opportunity to go up automatically is fantastic.

:17:58. > :18:05.We were disappointed because we were in the driving season --

:18:05. > :18:09.driving seat for a long time. We shot ourselves in the food.

:18:09. > :18:15.Confidence was eroded. In the end, to have this bonus of an

:18:15. > :18:25.opportunity is fantastic. You can get more from the manager Paul

:18:25. > :18:28.Sturrock on Late Kick Off tonight at 11:05pm. We will be hearing

:18:28. > :18:35.about the final games of the season, what managers do when they're under

:18:35. > :18:40.pressure. In snooker, he might well have missed the blue, but Essex

:18:40. > :18:47.snooker player Ali Carter stormed through to the quarter-finals of

:18:47. > :18:52.the world championships in Sheffield. He won a final frame

:18:52. > :19:02.decider against Judd Trump. You can see how delighted he was on the

:19:02. > :19:07.

:19:07. > :19:12.BBC's Board website. Have a look. - - Sport website. Cancelled services,

:19:12. > :19:19.delayed journeys and commuter chaos. The cost of cable theft is spelt

:19:19. > :19:23.bike thousands of travellers across the region. Today there was

:19:23. > :19:27.confirmation that this was the worst day so far or -- worse year

:19:27. > :19:31.so far. The police need tougher powers to

:19:31. > :19:35.crack down on defenders -- offenders. The good news is the

:19:35. > :19:43.number of incidents has fallen. The police are confident their winning

:19:44. > :19:47.the war. This is the task force. There braving the coldest night of

:19:47. > :19:52.the year in a quest to cut down on this. To the thieves, this is what

:19:52. > :19:56.it is all about. Overhead power cables and underground signalling

:19:56. > :20:02.cable containing copper. The price of this metal has risen sharply

:20:02. > :20:07.over the past five years. So has the cost to rail operators. Cable

:20:07. > :20:13.theft is a big problem for me in my team. If you put it in terms of

:20:13. > :20:18.train delay, 40,000 minutes in the last year. To give that context,

:20:18. > :20:21.that is 27 days of delay. Those delays are costly. Network Rail

:20:21. > :20:28.lead to compensate the rail operators who in turn have to

:20:28. > :20:32.compensate us. The last six years have been expensive. So much more

:20:32. > :20:39.is at stake here than just the financial cost. Each one of these

:20:39. > :20:45.cables carries 25,000 volts. 10 people were killed trying to steal

:20:45. > :20:48.them last year. Last few months have seen a decrease in thefts

:20:48. > :20:52.across the Anglia region. Network Rail and the British Transport

:20:52. > :20:57.Police believe that is down to their cable theft task force.

:20:57. > :21:03.Increased patrols like this will help to cut crime that costs

:21:03. > :21:12.between five and 6 million last year. The government are ruling out

:21:12. > :21:15.any further funding for such ventures. I think what the

:21:15. > :21:19.Government wants to do, and police would be supportive, is look at the

:21:19. > :21:24.impact that a range of measures that will be impact -- introduced

:21:24. > :21:28.this year is going to have on the stolen metal market. Measures such

:21:28. > :21:32.as banning cash payments and giving greater powers to magistrates when

:21:32. > :21:36.sentencing thieves. With the Olympics just three months away,

:21:36. > :21:43.the thought of trains grinding to a halt means not everyone shares the

:21:43. > :21:47.confidence of the police. Two museums in the region have

:21:47. > :21:51.withdrawn their collections of Chinese jade following a break-in

:21:51. > :21:55.at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge two weeks ago. Chinese

:21:55. > :21:58.works of art valued at millions of pounds were stolen. It comes at a

:21:58. > :22:02.time when the Fitzwilliam Museum has been chosen to exhibit major

:22:02. > :22:08.Chinese art this summer. There is growing excitement over

:22:08. > :22:14.the most exhibit -- most ambitious exhibit to date. Part of the

:22:14. > :22:19.Cultural Olympiad. The museum says it will not discuss security,

:22:19. > :22:23.meanwhile, police are hoping these posters and an appeal on Crimewatch

:22:23. > :22:32.will lead into the four men who got away with 18 million worth of

:22:32. > :22:37.treasure. Today, the museum keepers Bowcock the sense of loss. We love

:22:37. > :22:43.these treasures as much as the public and it was a great shock. We

:22:43. > :22:52.love these projects and we research them. It is like babies. We really

:22:52. > :22:56.want them back. 25 police officers are now operating on the project,

:22:56. > :23:02.trying to jail the gang. We have the vehicle we believe was involved

:23:02. > :23:06.in the burglary, very distinctive. There is a dent in the van. We

:23:07. > :23:10.appeal to anybody yet there that may have seen this vehicle, either

:23:10. > :23:14.between 7th April when it was stolen from London on 13th April,

:23:14. > :23:18.the day of the burglary, to come forward with any information they

:23:18. > :23:22.have got. If Ipswich Museum, targeted by thieves who stole up

:23:22. > :23:26.rhino horn, replaced it with a replica of. It is reviewing

:23:26. > :23:30.security again, removing a small number of jade items. What's unique

:23:30. > :23:35.about museums is we have the real thing, something very special, you

:23:35. > :23:38.can get that close to something that is real. At the same time, if

:23:38. > :23:43.we take advice that something is valuable, we will review whether we

:23:43. > :23:46.keep it on display are not. Tonight, the Fitzwilliam Museum remains

:23:47. > :23:53.defiant, determined the latest exhibition will go ahead exactly as

:23:53. > :23:56.planned. This exhibition has been two years in the making, it is the

:23:56. > :23:59.most important exhibition of this kind ever, it will never be

:23:59. > :24:05.repeated. We are delighted it is going ahead and we will not be

:24:05. > :24:09.beaten by these people. We are now going to get the weather. We've had

:24:09. > :24:13.going to get the weather. We've had the most hideous weekend of rain.

:24:13. > :24:23.What a weekend. Just to let you know how wet it was, he rose and

:24:23. > :24:23.

:24:23. > :24:33.figures. -- he rather figures. 33 mm. That is three-quarters of the

:24:33. > :24:34.

:24:34. > :24:44.average monthly rainfall in just two days. As I speak, the forecast

:24:44. > :24:45.
