:00:18. > :00:21.Good evening. First tonight, doctors at Bedford Hospital have raised

:00:22. > :00:24.serious concerns about a new contract to support people with bone

:00:25. > :00:27.and muscular problems. They're worried that a provisional contract

:00:28. > :00:30.offered to Circle Health will lead to financial losses and force

:00:31. > :00:33.patients to travel elsewhere for care. Circle says it's a fuss about

:00:34. > :00:40.nothing. Stewart Ratcliffe has the details. This is one of the forwards

:00:41. > :00:51.where a patient is currently treated. The contract to manage

:00:52. > :00:54.these services has been awarded to Circle Health. Doctors here feel

:00:55. > :00:59.that if Bedford signed up to the contract, it could lead to financial

:01:00. > :01:04.shortfalls, workforce gaps and service failings, perhaps

:01:05. > :01:13.threatening the viability of a unique `` A If the contract

:01:14. > :01:18.contained clauses which lay a significant clinical or financial

:01:19. > :01:22.risk at our door, in particular the financial risk, that will have major

:01:23. > :01:28.implications for not only the musculoskeletal service, but also

:01:29. > :01:34.other services, because no service stand alone. This hospital is

:01:35. > :01:40.already ?8 million in debt. The real concern is, if this new contract

:01:41. > :01:45.means the hospital is paid less per patient per treatment, it could

:01:46. > :01:50.undermine the financial stability of our spittle and threaten the future

:01:51. > :01:53.of some of its services. The commissioning group says this new

:01:54. > :01:58.contract will not mean less money being paid for services. Bedford

:01:59. > :02:02.Hospital have been offered a contract under the same terms they

:02:03. > :02:10.have now to provide those services. I don't know if they are going to

:02:11. > :02:15.provide the services. Good people in Deptford find themselves going to

:02:16. > :02:22.Luton... Absolutely not, patients have toys. I don't know why they are

:02:23. > :02:28.concerned. I don't know why they make such a fuss about this. But the

:02:29. > :02:32.hospital, this is about safeguarding services and ultimately,

:02:33. > :02:36.safeguarding its future. The iury is still considering its

:02:37. > :02:38.verdict in the trial of two men accused of assisting a serial

:02:39. > :02:41.killer. Joanna Dennehy has admitted to murdering three men and dumping

:02:42. > :02:45.their bodies in ditches around Peterborough. Leslie Leyton is seen

:02:46. > :02:51.here filling a fuel can, which the court was told he used to burn out

:02:52. > :02:54.one of the victim's car. He's also accused of helping to dump the

:02:55. > :03:04.bodies, along with Gary Stretch, seen here in the green. Both men

:03:05. > :03:07.deny the charges. A teenage girl has been sexually assaulted on a bus

:03:08. > :03:12.travelling between Milton Keynes and Bedford. Police have released CCTV

:03:13. > :03:17.footage of a man they want to speak to. The 17`year`old girl ordered the

:03:18. > :03:22.coach at Buckingham and the man got on at Central Milton Keynes.

:03:23. > :03:25.The developers of a warehouse in Buckinghamshire destroyed by fire

:03:26. > :03:29.last month ignored advice to fit a sprinkler system. It's emerged the

:03:30. > :03:32.Fire Service recommended sprinklers during the planning process of the

:03:33. > :03:34.Liebherr Warehouse in Newport Pagnell more than ten years ago.

:03:35. > :03:35.Liebherr Warehouse in Newport Pagnell more than ten years ago But

:03:36. > :03:38.Pagnell more than ten years ago. But there was no legal requirement for

:03:39. > :03:40.them to be fitted. Senior fire officers now want a change in the

:03:41. > :03:44.law. The number of people in our region

:03:45. > :03:51.who are classed as overweight or obese is on the increase. A national

:03:52. > :03:54.league table shows that in some towns more than three quarters of

:03:55. > :03:59.people fall into those categories. Several areas here have some of

:04:00. > :04:05.worst obesity rates in the country. Our reporter Emma Baugh joins me now

:04:06. > :04:09.with the details, Emma. Topping the list in our region is

:04:10. > :04:12.Milton Keynes with more than 72 per cent of the population being classed

:04:13. > :04:15.as overweight ` that's more than seven in ten people. That's followed

:04:16. > :04:21.by Corby and Wellingborough with a figure of more than 70 per cent.

:04:22. > :04:21.by Corby and Wellingborough with a figure of more than 70 per cent But

:04:22. > :04:25.figure of more than 70 per cent. But at the other end of the scale ` the

:04:26. > :04:29.areas where the fewest number of people are seen as overweight is in

:04:30. > :04:34.Cambridge at 54 per cent and Luton at 59. In Milton Keynes, one man has

:04:35. > :04:43.lost seven and a half stone to help change his lifestyle. That was the

:04:44. > :04:46.main reason, I did keep to it, plus the way I looked, I didn't want to

:04:47. > :04:51.look like an elephant all the time. I just wanted to look normal and

:04:52. > :04:56.where normal clothes. I feel so much better. The figures are based on

:04:57. > :04:59.Body Mass Index. The actual calculation is your weight in

:05:00. > :05:02.kilograms, divided by the square of your height in metres. But BMI is

:05:03. > :05:14.only a rough guide. It can't distinguish whether the weight is

:05:15. > :05:18.fat or muscle. More is now being done to encourage us to exercise.

:05:19. > :05:21.GPs can now refer patients to gyms instead of giving them a

:05:22. > :05:25.prescription. It has been incredible is successful, over the past three

:05:26. > :05:28.years I have seen over 80% of people who take part in the programme make

:05:29. > :05:32.a significant reduction to their weight loss, in particular we have

:05:33. > :05:38.had a number of clients who have lost upwards of three stone in

:05:39. > :05:40.weight by taking part in this programme and have to support so

:05:41. > :05:44.they know what they are doing will benefit them. But obesity is a

:05:45. > :05:48.problem that's likely to get worse. It's been predicted that by 2050 at

:05:49. > :05:52.least half of us will be classed as obese.

:05:53. > :05:53.In tonight's football a fan was taken seriously ill during

:05:54. > :05:56.Peterborough United's Johnstone's Peterborough United's Johnstone's

:05:57. > :06:03.Paint Trophy match with Swindon Town. The game was stopped whilst

:06:04. > :06:12.the fan was treated by paramedics. He has since been taken to hospital.

:06:13. > :06:17.The game ended 2`2. The highways agency has withdrawn proposals for a

:06:18. > :06:22.plan which would have seen the westbound slip road at junction 23

:06:23. > :06:28.widened. They say it is now concentrating on the road around the

:06:29. > :06:35.Histon north of Cambridge. That is before the new route of the 814 is

:06:36. > :06:44.open. That's all from us. Good night.

:06:45. > :06:49.A few showers moving through overnight, it will be largely fine

:06:50. > :06:57.and dry with some clear spells and the winds, easing to a moderate to

:06:58. > :07:00.fresh south`westerly. A scattering of showers around tomorrow morning,

:07:01. > :07:07.for most of us, dry start of the day, perhaps even with some

:07:08. > :07:11.sunshine. Temperatures around average, with mainly moderate south

:07:12. > :07:16.to southeasterly wind for much of the day, although they are expected

:07:17. > :07:23.to pick up later on. A wet end to the day, outbreaks of rain heavy,

:07:24. > :07:26.continuing through tomorrow evening. In a moment, the National forecast

:07:27. > :07:39.but I will leave you with the Outlook.

:07:40. > :07:46.As you have just heard, the little respite between one storm system and

:07:47. > :07:50.another and it is that cumulative effect which will cause further

:07:51. > :07:58.problems in the coming days with risks of flooding and further damage

:07:59. > :08:02.and destruction. This area of cloud is Saturday's potential stormy

:08:03. > :08:06.weather. Before that we have clout to the north west of Spain and

:08:07. > :08:12.Portugal which will come our way tomorrow. That is hot on the heels

:08:13. > :08:16.of this area of cloud. It is still with us at the moment. The winds are

:08:17. > :08:23.easing down, but there are still some gusty winds in the central

:08:24. > :08:29.belt. It is wet and windy in Shetland, but compared to today the

:08:30. > :08:32.winds will be much lighter. It will be a chilly night into tomorrow

:08:33. > :08:34.morning with a touch of
