:00:00. > :00:11.heavy rain is causing more misery as flood waters are on the rise.
:00:12. > :00:16.To Good evening. First tonight, the mother from
:00:17. > :00:20.Peterborough, who became a serial killer, and the two men who helped
:00:21. > :00:24.her cover her tracks. Tonight Gary Stretch and Leslie Layton are behind
:00:25. > :00:27.bars awaiting sentence. Joanna Dennehy has already admitted killing
:00:28. > :00:31.three men and trying to murder two more. Stretch and Layton both
:00:32. > :00:35.claimed they were under her control but neither took to the stand to
:00:36. > :00:41.defend themselves. This report from Neil Bradford.
:00:42. > :00:50.They were caught on camera covering the tracks of a serial killer.
:00:51. > :00:55.Standing is Gary Stretch. At the pump is Leslie Layton. He's filling
:00:56. > :01:00.petrol can used to burn out the Mondeo car behind him. It belonged
:01:01. > :01:06.to one of the victims. Inside and out of sight was Joanna Dennehy
:01:07. > :01:11.described a woman with a search for blood. Kevin Lee was her landlord
:01:12. > :01:18.and lover. He was the second victim. Today his family gave their verdict.
:01:19. > :01:24.Kevin was so full of life. Life is very dull without him. Joanna
:01:25. > :01:29.Dennehy has taken over our lives and callously created a whole that
:01:30. > :01:33.cannot be filled. The killing spree began in March last year. Dennehy
:01:34. > :01:38.knew each of her victims, stabbing them through the heart. The first, a
:01:39. > :01:43.friend, a Polish worker Lukasz Slaboszewski. She enticed him by
:01:44. > :01:49.text. Ten days later, Kevin Lee. On the same day she murdered her
:01:50. > :01:51.housemate John Chapman. Helped by Stretch and Layton, the bodies were
:01:52. > :01:58.dumped in ditches around Peterborough. They then went on the
:01:59. > :02:03.run. The court was told it was an unholy union. They headed for
:02:04. > :02:08.Hereford. This is Dennehy buying cigarettes just before what she
:02:09. > :02:13.called having her fun. On this occasion, two random knife attacks.
:02:14. > :02:18.The man with her is Mark Lloyd, a friend of Gary Stretch. He was in
:02:19. > :02:23.the car at the time. Gary motioned through the window like this. I saw
:02:24. > :02:34.a bloke walking across the road with a dog. He slammed the brakes on. Joe
:02:35. > :02:38.was out the door. The first was Robin Barraza. Dennehy said I will
:02:39. > :02:47.kill you. Ten minutes later she attacked John Rogers. It was a
:02:48. > :02:55.vicious and sustain the lack passion sustained attack. I would love to
:02:56. > :02:59.hear their story in the future. When you look at the extent and the
:03:00. > :03:04.disruption she has brought people's lives, she owes somebody an
:03:05. > :03:10.explanation about why she decided to do that over a 14 day period. Gary
:03:11. > :03:14.Stretch told the witness I am a professional burglar, not a
:03:15. > :03:19.murderer. Leslie Layton was described as a petty thief. But they
:03:20. > :03:22.were willing partners in DennehyDennehy's ten day killing
:03:23. > :03:23.spree began in Peterborough on the 19th March.
:03:24. > :03:31.'s desire for violence. Three men stabbed to death. Two
:03:32. > :03:34.others seriously wounded. Her sister says she still cannot believe what
:03:35. > :03:37.happened, but hopes her sibling never sees daylight again. So what
:03:38. > :03:40.turned this sweet`faced schoolgirl into a cold blooded killer? Our home
:03:41. > :03:47.affairs correspondent Sally Chidzoy has this report.
:03:48. > :03:51.Killing men was Joanna Dennehy's idea of fun. She plunged this knife
:03:52. > :03:57.into the hearts of three men and tried to kill two more. There was a
:03:58. > :04:02.girl we loved and then turned into a monster. I do not think you can
:04:03. > :04:07.describe it any other way. Joanna Dennehy the killer with a
:04:08. > :04:10.psychopathic disorder and the little girl she once was, growing up in a
:04:11. > :04:14.comfortable home in this street in Hertfordshire. Her family says she
:04:15. > :04:20.was a well`behaved and bright child but as a teenager she turned her
:04:21. > :04:24.back on them and moved out. She had two children but separated from
:04:25. > :04:28.their father. She turned to drugs and alcohol and was a familiar sight
:04:29. > :04:32.on the streets of Peterborough. She has a history of self harming and
:04:33. > :04:35.cut herself across her stomach and arms. She spent time in prison for
:04:36. > :04:39.petty crime. In March last year, she petty crime. In March last year, she
:04:40. > :04:46.started her killing spree. Her mission, to murder men. It was here
:04:47. > :04:52.that two of Joanna Dennehy's victims met their violent deaths. She leered
:04:53. > :04:57.Lukasz Slaboszewski here by text message, stabbed in and hit his body
:04:58. > :05:02.in a wheelie bin. She told Kevin Lee she wanted to dress him up and
:05:03. > :05:07.sexually abused him. His body was found in a black dress. Dennehy
:05:08. > :05:11.lived in this house where she killed the third victim and fellow tenant
:05:12. > :05:18.John Chapman. Police believe he died because he saw her in the bath. The
:05:19. > :05:24.men's bodies were dumped in debt choose `` ditches in Peterborough.
:05:25. > :05:30.She phoned seven foot Gary Stretch and he and Leslie Layton helped her
:05:31. > :05:35.dispose of the bodies. The three of them went on the run, ending up on
:05:36. > :05:39.this estate in Kings Lynn. She wanted to see an old prison friend.
:05:40. > :05:45.Also in the house was plumber Sean Keeble. He said she was ecstatic
:05:46. > :05:50.when she saw a TV report saying she was wanted for murder. She had the
:05:51. > :05:55.remain in our hands and was jumping up and down, really happy, that she
:05:56. > :06:05.had killed three people. I said, don't you feel bad? She laughed and
:06:06. > :06:10.said No. They headed for the West Midlands and Dennehy and Stretch
:06:11. > :06:16.were pictured holding hands at a service station. Then she stabbed
:06:17. > :06:22.two more men who miraculously survived. John Rogers was out
:06:23. > :06:26.walking his dog when Dennehy stabbed him 40 times. The macro she said,
:06:27. > :06:33.you are bleeding, I had better do some more. I was just waiting for it
:06:34. > :06:35.to stop really. When it did finally stop I just thought, this is it,
:06:36. > :06:35.to stop really. When it did finally stop I just thought, this is it I'm
:06:36. > :06:43.stop I just thought, this is it, I'm going to die. Short time later,
:06:44. > :06:47.Dennehy and Stretch were arrested. Her so`called fun was over.
:06:48. > :06:49.There's comprehensive coverage of this story online at

:06:56. > :06:58.There are fears of further flooding after high winds and heavy rain
:06:59. > :07:02.struck this afternoon and this evening. It's caused disruption to
:07:03. > :07:06.the East Coast Mainline and to services from Milton Keynes on the
:07:07. > :07:13.West Coast Main Line. The Environment Agency, meanwhile, is
:07:14. > :07:16.warning us to be on our guard. I think worst`case for us, between
:07:17. > :07:22.now and Friday, we could see the same rainfall as last Thursday where
:07:23. > :07:26.we could go back to the situation where the rivers are very high but
:07:27. > :07:31.we are coping with getting the water away. The key is how the water gets
:07:32. > :07:34.to the fields and rivers which could lead to flooding locally and some
:07:35. > :07:38.properties flooding where they are and tips and hollows.
:07:39. > :07:41.Three men have been arrested in connection with the murder of

:08:03. > :08:08.let's finish here with the weather and Julie Reinger.
:08:09. > :08:15.Hello, some showers heading in over night. Some of them could turn
:08:16. > :08:19.wintry. Towards the end of the night, they should ease down
:08:20. > :08:23.attached. With temperatures close to freezing we cannot rule out Frost
:08:24. > :08:30.and icy patches. The more frost feeding through. There will be dry
:08:31. > :08:38.and bright weather with spells of sunshine. A blustery day. The wind
:08:39. > :08:43.is not as strong as today. We finished the day largely dry give or
:08:44. > :08:47.take one or two showers. We have a yellow warning in place for Friday.
:08:48. > :08:53.We could see some further heavy rain, five to ten millimetres. Half
:08:54. > :08:59.an inch in places. I will leave you with the Outlook. The winds will
:09:00. > :09:08.pick up strong to gale force after Friday. Still windy
:09:09. > :09:15.Good evening. What an incredible day of weather it has been. We saw gusts
:09:16. > :09:20.of wind up to 108 mph in the West of Wales. The wind is easing down a

:09:24. > :09:28.Met Office for the strength of the wind over the next few hours over
:09:29. > :09:31.quite a large swathe of the UK. Northern Ireland, northern England
:09:32. > :09:36.and down across Wales, there is still potential for damaging and
:09:37. > :09:39.disruptive gusts of wind. This huge curl of cloud is bringing wet and
:09:40. > :09:43.windy weather across much of the West of Europe. It curls back across
:09:44. > :09:47.the north of the UK and that's the centre of the area of low pressure
:09:48. > :09:51.with the strongest winds just to the south of that. Let's focus on the
:09:52. > :09:55.winds over the next few hours. The ease down by a notch or two but
:09:56. > :10:03.still blustery conditions over most of Wales. High seas around the coast
