:00:00. > :00:11.That's all from us. A first look at the papers on the news channel. Now

:00:12. > :00:18.Good evening. Conservative MP Peter Bone has strongly denied allegations

:00:19. > :00:21.that he's committed fraud. The Northamptonshire MP says he and his

:00:22. > :00:25.wife Jennie are "totally innocent" of the claims which relate to the

:00:26. > :00:28.care of his elderly mother in law. Mr Bone, who's been the MP for

:00:29. > :00:32.Wellingborough since 2005, says he's been living a "surreal nightmare"

:00:33. > :00:43.since a police raid on his home last year. Mike Cartwright reports.

:00:44. > :00:48.Questions over allegations of fraud, and NP waiting to hear if he will

:00:49. > :00:55.face prosecution. Peter Bowes says he's innocent. The allegations are

:00:56. > :00:59.surreal nightmare, he says. The council contacted police after fears

:01:00. > :01:03.they had been misled over the finances of Peter Bowden pot`macro

:01:04. > :01:08.mother`in`law. The authority had been partly paid for by the venture

:01:09. > :01:13.care, then allegations the family had sufficient funds themselves

:01:14. > :01:15.including money from the sale of the 81`year`old's home. Peter Bowman

:01:16. > :01:31.said the issue is simple... I know the answer, he said. Outside

:01:32. > :01:38.his constituency office some thought the story could be damaging. MPs are

:01:39. > :01:45.not known for being honest people. It would not surprise me. He says

:01:46. > :01:54.he's innocent. He might be. It isn't very good. The dispute began in 2009

:01:55. > :01:58.after a failure to fund his mother`in`law pot`macro care. In

:01:59. > :02:04.2013, his home was raided by police, personal papers and documents were

:02:05. > :02:09.taken. The next month, the MP and his wife what questioned by

:02:10. > :02:16.officers. Peter Bowden says his belief in the police has been

:02:17. > :02:21.shattered. Today, they confirmed a 61`year`old man had been formally

:02:22. > :02:27.interviewed. The county council says lawyers advised them not to comment.

:02:28. > :02:32.Allegations have made the front pages. Peter bone wondered if the

:02:33. > :02:37.story was leaked to the press by the police.

:02:38. > :02:41.Plans have been unveiled for more homes and businesses in this region

:02:42. > :02:44.to get superfast broadband. The Government is to boost its funding

:02:45. > :02:49.for the project with more than 14 million being invested here. So who

:02:50. > :02:52.will benefit? Waseem Mirza has the details.

:02:53. > :02:55.The roll out of superfast broadband is well underway but today the

:02:56. > :02:59.Government has pledged even more funding to help areas which it says

:03:00. > :03:03.are hardest to reach and stand to benefit the most. Homes and

:03:04. > :03:07.businesses here will get more than ?14 million towards faster broadband

:03:08. > :03:12.projects. Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire will receive the

:03:13. > :03:14.largest share of the pot. More than ?3.6 million for Northamptonshire

:03:15. > :03:20.with slightly less for projects in Central Bedfordshire, Bedford

:03:21. > :03:23.Borough, Milton Keynes and Luton. Cambridgeshire and Peterborough will

:03:24. > :03:28.receive just under one million pounds. So why is this important?

:03:29. > :03:31.For many small and medium sized businesses better broadband could

:03:32. > :03:37.mean the difference between more productivity and new jobs or put

:03:38. > :03:39.their survival at risk. Destination Digital is a scheme that gives

:03:40. > :03:49.grants to businesses in Cambridgeshire to help bridge that

:03:50. > :03:54.divide. If we didn't get this right there are other places in the world

:03:55. > :03:58.like Korea and China and India and Brazil who are investing in this

:03:59. > :04:02.technology and we cannot afford to be left behind.

:04:03. > :04:06.But is time running out? The Government says it's aiming for 95%

:04:07. > :04:09.of the country to get superfast speeds by 2017.

:04:10. > :04:11.The girlfriend of a man who drowned while searching for a missing

:04:12. > :04:15.teenager has described how she desperately tried to save him before

:04:16. > :04:17.he Disappeared under the water. Ryan Pettengell from King's Lynn and

:04:18. > :04:21.16`year`old Umar Balogun both drowned at Bawsey Pitts on the same

:04:22. > :04:27.day in what a coroner has described as a "tragic coincidence". This

:04:28. > :04:36.afternoon a jury returned a verdict of accidental death on Mr

:04:37. > :04:40.Pettengell. His mother and family arriving at

:04:41. > :04:44.being questioned. He drowned on the same day at the same pits as the

:04:45. > :04:51.teenager he was looking for. Not knowing when he jumped in the water

:04:52. > :04:54.the body had already been found He is the sort of guy who if someone

:04:55. > :04:59.was in trouble he would have gone out of his way to help them out The

:05:00. > :05:04.PC said he was there when Brian died, he could not help because he

:05:05. > :05:09.wasn't a competence woman. Before he died, you asked if he had seen a

:05:10. > :05:13.16`year`old, his girlfriend said she could see something on the island

:05:14. > :05:17.she had Swansea. Despite breaking his wrist before, he said he would

:05:18. > :05:21.swim over. She told him don't bother, don't come because you will

:05:22. > :05:35.not make it. He got halfway across and shouted, get me a stick. She

:05:36. > :05:38.said she did but it would not float. He grabbed her shoulder, she

:05:39. > :05:40.went underwater and she swallowed water and was sick. She said she

:05:41. > :05:43.went back to the islands to get another stick and when she turned

:05:44. > :05:45.around or she could see was the bubbles where he had been. Shortly

:05:46. > :05:47.after the drownings, these photographs were revealed showing

:05:48. > :05:55.the dangers under the water. This is the diver after finding the body.

:05:56. > :05:59.You have no visibility but you are really restricted in movement.

:06:00. > :06:04.Before the family left the inquest, his mother said no swimming signs

:06:05. > :06:08.should also point out the dangers under the surface. She said it would

:06:09. > :06:13.give those something else to think about.

:06:14. > :06:17.In football there were three games tonight with important consequences

:06:18. > :06:24.at the top and bottom of the tables. In League One, Stevenage, who are

:06:25. > :06:28.bottom, won against Crewe. MK Dons faint play`off hopes were boosted at

:06:29. > :06:31.Oldham where they won 2`1. Meanwhile in League Two, bottom club

:06:32. > :06:35.Northampton won 2`1 against Southend at Sixfields. And of course there'll

:06:36. > :06:38.be more on those results on your BBC Local Radio Station's Breakfast Show

:06:39. > :06:47.tomorrow morning. That's all from the late team. Time now to get the

:06:48. > :06:51.weather ` here's Alex. The rest of the night looks largely dry and

:06:52. > :06:58.under clear skies it will turn quite chilly, a touch of ground frost in

:06:59. > :07:04.places. The winds are like south`westerly. They chilly start, a

:07:05. > :07:07.fine day, sunshine in the morning, patchy cloud feeding through for the

:07:08. > :07:12.afternoon and that could produce an isolated shower but for most of us

:07:13. > :07:18.it is dry with temperatures expected to climb to 10 Celsius. The wind is

:07:19. > :07:23.fresh in the afternoon, a sign of the next weather front pushing

:07:24. > :07:27.through for Thursday. In a moment, the National forecast. I leave you

:07:28. > :07:28.with the Outlook. The weather front produces showers on Thursday, the

:07:29. > :07:35.could be heavy but drier be rain, clearing into sunshine and

:07:36. > :07:37.showers, Buster once. Then it is more difficult. Susan Powell is here

:07:38. > :07:46.to explain more international focus. Take a glimpse out of the window and

:07:47. > :07:50.the chances they will be starry skies where you are. The showers we

:07:51. > :07:54.have today are dying back to the coast. The breeze is also easing and

:07:55. > :07:59.reclaiming skies and light winds, it will be chilly overnight tonight.

:08:00. > :08:00.The wind will remain keen enough to hold the
