:00:00. > 3:59:59European Union, that is certainly not shared the further east you go

:00:00. > :00:19.into Good evening.

:00:20. > :00:21.Tensions were running high in Luton tonight as 100 people gathered to

:00:22. > :00:28.voice their concerns over policing in the town. These were the scenes

:00:29. > :00:32.at the community centre. It comes amid claims that a man with severe

:00:33. > :00:35.autism was beaten up by police. Two officers have been put on restricted

:00:36. > :00:38.duties while Bedfordshire Police investigate the claims. Our Home

:00:39. > :00:47.Affairs Correspondent, Sally Childzoy, met Farukh Ali, the man at

:00:48. > :00:53.the centre of these allegations Farukh Ali, severely autistic and

:00:54. > :00:55.with the mental capacity of a five`year`old returns home from his

:00:56. > :00:58.time being cared for at a day centre. He is in shock after

:00:59. > :01:06.allegedly being beaten by police in an unprovoked attack outside his own

:01:07. > :01:10.home. They dragged him, they punched him, they held him hard and try to

:01:11. > :01:14.get a grip of him by his coat. It was outrageous the way they

:01:15. > :01:19.approached him. Within one second it happened. Because of his severe

:01:20. > :01:25.autism, Farukh Ali likes routine, he likes to help the bin men every

:01:26. > :01:30.Thursday by moving his neighbour's winds. It is while he was doing this

:01:31. > :01:33.that two police officers sat in a police car nearby spotted him. One

:01:34. > :01:40.allegedly climbed out and attack him. Since the incident about a

:01:41. > :01:46.fortnight ago, his family say he has closed in on himself. Inside the

:01:47. > :01:53.house, he has close the door on the world. He is more incoherence,

:01:54. > :02:00.scared, worried and agitated. He cannot communicate as well as we

:02:01. > :02:05.do, and it is more guessing about how he is getting angry and anyone

:02:06. > :02:11.he sees, like a camera dressed in black. He will think that is someone

:02:12. > :02:19.from the police force. These are some of the injuries it is claimed

:02:20. > :02:21.he suffered at the hands of Well at tonight's meeting in Luton, there

:02:22. > :02:24.were calls for the police officers alleged to have been involved in the

:02:25. > :02:29.incident to be suspended. The officer. The decision has been

:02:30. > :02:35.made at this time to suspend the officers and not dismiss them. But

:02:36. > :02:38.you have powers to do that? The decision on this occasion has been

:02:39. > :02:45.to restrict the officers and not suspend them. That decision will be

:02:46. > :02:49.reviewed as this progresses. A mother has been describing the

:02:50. > :02:51.chaos that surrounded the last moments of her teenager daughter's

:02:52. > :02:54.life. Elouise Keeling collapsed with breathing problems during a cadet's

:02:55. > :02:57.day at an RAF base in Cambridgeshire last summer. She'd suffered an

:02:58. > :03:02.asthma attack. An ambulance was called but went to the wrong

:03:03. > :03:09.location. But by the time it arrived it was too late. Struggling to

:03:10. > :03:14.breathe, Ellie Keeling, aged 14 said she was going to die. People

:03:15. > :03:17.with her told her not to panic, an ambulance was on the way. It wasn't.

:03:18. > :03:20.In the middle is her mum, who moments before, she had called for

:03:21. > :03:24.help. "I can't breathe, I can't walk," she told her. When Karen

:03:25. > :03:27.Keeling saw her daughter, she was gasping for air, lying on her back.

:03:28. > :03:30."No, that's Wyton," she heard someone say. "This is Brampton"

:03:31. > :03:33.That was Michael Smith, the cadet leader, then 18, who dialled 99 .

:03:34. > :03:39."They asked me for a postcode," he told the inquest. "I looked it up on

:03:40. > :03:42.my phone". "That shows RAF Brampton and RAF Wyton," he said they told

:03:43. > :03:46.him. "We're at RAF Brampton," he said, "in the village of Brampton".

:03:47. > :03:50.At 7:48, he called for an ambulance, but it was sent to Wyton, ten miles

:03:51. > :03:54.away. At 8:10, the second ambulance arrives at the right location, but

:03:55. > :04:02.at 9:13, the inquest was told, Ellie Keeling was pronounced dead. Behind

:04:03. > :04:06.her colleague is Suzanne Truston, who took the emergency call. She was

:04:07. > :04:09.based in Norfolk, and didn't know that area, she told the inquest

:04:10. > :04:15."Would identifying a road name have been better"? She was asked. "In

:04:16. > :04:18.hindsight, definitely," she said. An ambulance was first sent from

:04:19. > :04:23.Huntington, a couple of miles or so from where Ellie was, but when the

:04:24. > :04:26.crew queried if they were going to Brampton or Wyton, they were stood

:04:27. > :04:34.down. The coroner said sadly another crew, closer to Wyton, were sent

:04:35. > :04:39.instead. Ellie Keeling was described today as popular and bubbly, a young

:04:40. > :04:50.lady with everything to live for. Tomorrow, at her inquest, more

:04:51. > :04:52.evidence will be heard how she died. Bosses at Northampton General

:04:53. > :04:55.Hospital have met today to discuss ways to ease pressure on its A

:04:56. > :04:58.department. All non`emergency operations have been cancelled and

:04:59. > :05:04.the Chief Executive says it's having a knock`on effect on other services

:05:05. > :05:13.too. Our reporter Waseem Mirza joins me now with the latest. What is the

:05:14. > :05:17.hospital saying tonight? Northampton General Hospital has told us it has

:05:18. > :05:21.cancelled all nonemergency operations, things like knee and hip

:05:22. > :05:26.replacements and hernia repairs This is because of the amount of

:05:27. > :05:31.people coming in for emergency treatment. In the past week, more

:05:32. > :05:41.than 1800 people have attended A, that is up more than 7% on last

:05:42. > :05:44.year. The hospital is now warning of the possibility of further

:05:45. > :05:49.cancellations in the coming days. How have the hospital found

:05:50. > :05:53.themselves in this position? The chief executive told us it is down

:05:54. > :05:58.to an increase OnDemand on its services which is affecting their

:05:59. > :06:02.ability to see, treat and discharge patients as quickly as possible

:06:03. > :06:06.More patients are being admitted because they are struggling to find

:06:07. > :06:11.medical services in their own communities. What is the advice to

:06:12. > :06:16.patients? If you are waiting for an operation, you will be contacted by

:06:17. > :06:22.the hospital if there are any changes. Meanwhile they are urging

:06:23. > :06:27.people to call their GP, pharmacists or the nonemergency helpline, 1 1.

:06:28. > :06:36.In football ` just two of our teams were in action tonight. In League

:06:37. > :06:38.One, Stevenage drew 1`1 game away to Crawley. Elsewhere Peterborough

:06:39. > :06:41.faced Sheffield at Brammell Lane. Final score was 2`0.

:06:42. > :06:48.That's all from the late team, now let's get the weather.

:06:49. > :06:55.We had a frost last night and we are likely to have a frost tonight as

:06:56. > :07:00.temperatures are diving under clear skies. Many places will get close to

:07:01. > :07:05.freezing if not low as we get towards tomorrow morning. If you

:07:06. > :07:11.wake up early you may experience mist and fog patches first thing.

:07:12. > :07:17.But they should clear fairly quickly and then there should be sunny

:07:18. > :07:21.spells. For the afternoon there will be patchy cloud at times, but it

:07:22. > :07:27.should stay dry. In a moment, we will have the National forecast but

:07:28. > :07:31.I will leave you with my out look. Thursday is dry with sunny spells.

:07:32. > :07:34.By Friday, a week will stay miles into the weekend.

:07:35. > :07:39.And with more on that, here is the National forecast.

:07:40. > :07:45.Good evening. The skies across England and Wales are clearing. It

:07:46. > :07:52.will turn cold once again. A different story for Scotland and

:07:53. > :07:56.Northern Ireland. But ahead of that, the skies are clearing for England

:07:57. > :08:03.and Wales. It will turn cold, so we will start tomorrow with a frost and

:08:04. > :08:08.will also be some fog around. The frost will set in, getting down to

:08:09. > :08:11.three below in rural spots. It is not until the latter part of the

:08:12. > :08:15.night where we will see the fog thickening up. All while, the wind

:08:16. > :08:16.is increasing. And
