:00:00. > :00:18.hear views on immigration. That's all from us.

:00:19. > :00:24.Good evening. A triple murddrer from Stevenage has been awarded lore than

:00:25. > :00:27.?800 after some of his personal items were lost or broken dtring a

:00:28. > :00:30.prison transfer. Kevan Thakrar was convicted of gunning down three

:00:31. > :00:33.people in Bishop's Stortford in 2007. The Prison Officers

:00:34. > :00:37.Association say the award is an insult.

:00:38. > :00:41.He is serving three life sentences. He has a history of violencd in

:00:42. > :00:56.prison. Kevan Thakrar has spent time in several jails. He was tr`nsferred

:00:57. > :00:59.to Milton Keynes. During thhs transfer, a number of his

:01:00. > :01:02.possessions were damaged or lost. He was awarded compensation totalling

:01:03. > :01:06.?815. One of his victims saxs it is an insult. It is quite shocking It

:01:07. > :01:11.is quite hurtful. I haven't received an apology. I haven't received

:01:12. > :01:17.compensation. I have had to move back into with my parents to get

:01:18. > :01:21.support. The fact that my lhfe is in tatters and he is sitting there with

:01:22. > :01:32.a smile on his face, getting this publicity and he has ?800 of

:01:33. > :01:35.taxpayers' money in his bank. Kevan Thakrar was initially offerdd the

:01:36. > :01:41.compensation when he moved to prison in Milton Keynes. He refused and

:01:42. > :01:54.took the case to the Small Claims Court. After winning his case, the

:01:55. > :02:03.Prison Service were ordered to pay him ?814. Kevan Thakrar was jailed

:02:04. > :02:16.for the murder of three people in Bishop's Stortford in 2007. The

:02:17. > :02:37.reaction of most people in the town was one of amazement. It is very

:02:38. > :02:40.wrong, isn't it? He shouldn't be given that compensation. He

:02:41. > :02:43.committed those murders. Much better things money could go on th`n

:02:44. > :02:47.compensating somebody like that No, he shouldn't get the money. No way.

:02:48. > :02:51.Well, I don't think he should get all of it. He should get about 20.

:02:52. > :02:55.Kevan Thakrar is still protdsting his innocence. He claims he is the

:02:56. > :02:58.victim of a miscarriage of justice. For the prison officers who suffered

:02:59. > :03:05.at his hands, the only injustice is this ruling. Demand for emergency

:03:06. > :03:28.food parcels has almost tripled in this region in the last year. The

:03:29. > :03:32.figures come from the Trussdll Trust which now runs 40 food banks across

:03:33. > :03:35.the East. It says it's helpdd more than 90,000 adults and children in

:03:36. > :03:39.the last 12 months. The previous year, the figure was nearer 30, 00.

:03:40. > :03:44.This is the first time Jim has resorted to a food bank. After he

:03:45. > :03:47.became ill, he has struggled to pay for everything after his government

:03:48. > :03:51.benefits stopped. You have to be given a voucher to use a food bank.

:03:52. > :03:54.Jim was sent by his doctor. You struggle paying your household bills

:03:55. > :03:58.and buying food. I would rather have electric and water in the house I

:03:59. > :04:02.spend most of my money on that. It leaves me nothing with which to buy

:04:03. > :04:08.food. Sometimes, I borrow money to get milk and bread. You said you

:04:09. > :04:12.have always worked. Did you expect to be in this position? Nevdr ever.

:04:13. > :04:23.I have been trying to get worse for nearly two years. `` work for nearly

:04:24. > :04:27.two years. It is very hard. Very, very hard. Clients get an elergency

:04:28. > :04:33.supply of donated food to l`st three days. People come here for lany

:04:34. > :04:37.reasons. Redundancy or an unexpected bill. Demand has almost tripled in

:04:38. > :04:40.the region in the last year. The various factors are fuelling demand,

:04:41. > :04:42.but increasingly, the welfare reforms the effect of those, and

:04:43. > :04:55.particularly people not been sanctioned. `` not being sanctioned.

:04:56. > :04:58.That is when payments are stopped, if you don't attend intervidws or

:04:59. > :05:02.training. The government saxs there was no evidence of a link bdtween

:05:03. > :05:08.welfare reforms and the use of food banks. Becky Bosman family have

:05:09. > :05:14.spent ?1 a day each on this food to last five days. We love being

:05:15. > :05:21.hospitable. We love inviting people to have food with others or shirty

:05:22. > :05:25.with as. `` we love inviting people to have food with those all share

:05:26. > :05:30.tea with others. When you h`ve so little, you stop doing that. You

:05:31. > :05:39.have got to think about getting through the week. We didn't have

:05:40. > :05:43.that choice. It is a tempor`ry hardship for this family for a good

:05:44. > :05:46.cause. But donated food support thousands of people in need in our

:05:47. > :05:49.region. Cambridge Airport h`s won a big new contract to fly daily

:05:50. > :05:53.services to Dublin and Amstdrdam. It's part of a plan to build on its

:05:54. > :05:56.international status. But only last month, flights to other European

:05:57. > :06:00.cities were halted because of a lack of demand. That will not be an

:06:01. > :06:02.issue, says the new airline. It is a different schedule,

:06:03. > :06:16.different type of aircraft. Passengers can fly to many different

:06:17. > :06:20.destinations. Meanwhile, road connections in the

:06:21. > :06:23.East were given a boost this morning with the A11 Elvedon bypass in

:06:24. > :06:27.Suffolk finally opened. It's only one way in each direction, `nd there

:06:28. > :06:30.is a speed limit of 40 miles an hour. It's a major milestond in the

:06:31. > :06:34.A11 dualling project. Before we go there's just thme to

:06:35. > :06:36.tell you that Late Kick Off is on at 11.30 tonight, here on BBC One, with

:06:37. > :06:51.James Burridge. It will not be particularly cold.

:06:52. > :06:57.Lows of around eight Celsius. We have got hardly any wind at all

:06:58. > :07:01.These light winds mean mist and fog tomorrow may take a while to clear.

:07:02. > :07:08.Once it has gone, we are looking at a largely dry day with hopefully

:07:09. > :07:14.some sunshine coming through. Temperatures up to around 14

:07:15. > :07:17.Celsius, which is 59 Fahrenheit Largely dry through the aftdrnoon

:07:18. > :07:26.and into the evening. A few isolated showers. I will leave you whth the

:07:27. > :07:32.Outlook. Wednesday looks sililar. If we catch a shower, it could be on

:07:33. > :07:33.the heavy side. On Thursday, showers will be heavier and

:07:34. > :07:39.Thursday and then it will turn much cooler as we go into the bank

:07:40. > :07:45.holiday weekend. Hello, I am going to throw some

:07:46. > :07:49.numbers at you first of all. 22 Celsius was the temperature recorded

:07:50. > :07:54.at Aviemore making it the warmest day of the year so far. At the other

:07:55. > :07:59.end of the country, this cloud has produced a lot of heavy and thundery

:08:00. > :08:05.downpours. A lot of rain falling in one hour at Hurn airport. There are

:08:06. > :08:18.some showers around the Bristol Channel. There will be so increasing

:08:19. > :08:22.amounts of mist, fog and low cloud. Tomorrow starts grade, Misty and

:08:23. > :08:34.murky in most places. We will see the Sun breaking through in Cumbria

:08:35. > :08:38.and the North. You might get the odd shower in western Northern Ireland

:08:39. > :08:39.in the afternoon but with more sunshine across the country

:08:40. > :08:40.tomorrow, it should
