:00:34. > :00:38.which was cordoned off for some time in the early hours as a specialist

:00:39. > :00:40.police team tried to piece together what had happened.

:00:41. > :00:44.There was a breakdown vehicle, four police cars, and at least

:00:45. > :00:49.They had cones and markers, you know, measuring.

:00:50. > :00:52.And they're going house-to-house to ask people what they'd heard

:00:53. > :00:57.Police say one of their unmarked vehicles had been following a

:00:58. > :01:02.maroon Ford Escort which had failed to stop.

:01:03. > :01:06.It reached this spot and collided with a silver BMW.

:01:07. > :01:08.The 17-year-old who died was in the Escort.

:01:09. > :01:10.Another teenager in the car the same age was critically hurt.

:01:11. > :01:12.Two other teenagers had minor injuries and were arrested.

:01:13. > :01:15.One on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and possessing

:01:16. > :01:18.class A drugs with intent to supply, the other on suspicion

:01:19. > :01:28.The case is being monitored by the Independent Police

:01:29. > :01:42.Complaints Commission, which said in a statement...

:01:43. > :01:44.It's hoped lung cancer could be detected and treated earlier thanks

:01:45. > :01:47.to new research taking place in this region.

:01:48. > :01:50.The University of East Anglia is looking a therapy

:01:51. > :01:58.It's being part-funded by a local charity.

:01:59. > :02:01.Sally Millsopp from Norfolk lost her mother to a rare lung cancer.

:02:02. > :02:04.Jennifer Earnshaw was a headteacher and breathed in asbestos

:02:05. > :02:11.Chemotherapy extended her life but couldn't save it.

:02:12. > :02:14.To be told there really is no treatment that is going to cure it

:02:15. > :02:19.and that it's really a case of, "Would you like this treatment

:02:20. > :02:22."to sort of hopefully hold it back for a while?"

:02:23. > :02:26.It's just a horrible situation to be in.

:02:27. > :02:29.That's why photodynamic therapy is being studied.

:02:30. > :02:34.What happens is light-sensitive medication is injected

:02:35. > :02:36.into the patient, clinging to cancerous cells.

:02:37. > :02:38.A tube's then inserted with a laser on the end -

:02:39. > :02:43.the light reacts with the drug, killing the tumour.

:02:44. > :02:47.Researchers hope it could be an alternative to surgery.

:02:48. > :02:49.Surgery is very invasive because the lungs are

:02:50. > :02:53.A lot of people can't actually have surgical reception.

:02:54. > :02:56.The treatment's already used for some skin cancer patients.

:02:57. > :03:01.Now, the Norfolk PDT charity is funding research for lung cancer.

:03:02. > :03:03.This treatment's a long way off being approved.

:03:04. > :03:07.If successful, it would still have to go through clinical trials

:03:08. > :03:10.and all that could take around seven years.

:03:11. > :03:13.But if it works, it could transform the lives
