:00:09. > :00:10.Good evening. for the news where you are.

:00:11. > :00:12.The annual rail fare increase has taken effect today.

:00:13. > :00:16.Nationally, fares will increase by 2.3%.

:00:17. > :00:19.The increase in the East is slightly lower at 1.8%,

:00:20. > :00:22.But it means some season ticket holders will be paying

:00:23. > :00:27.Many rail users say they're disappointed by the increase,

:00:28. > :00:37.but operators say the money raised will be used to improve services.

:00:38. > :00:43.Here at Cambridge station it was the day before many returned to work,

:00:44. > :00:49.but usually this is one of the busiest commuter routes into London.

:00:50. > :00:51.Today it was announced that Greater Anglia and great Northern, the two

:00:52. > :00:58.main rail operators in our region are increasing fares by 1.8%. Below

:00:59. > :01:02.the national increase, but passengers I spoke to are

:01:03. > :01:08.unimpressed. It is pretty bad, services this year have been

:01:09. > :01:15.terrible. I am not surprised. That is what it is. They should go down

:01:16. > :01:21.again. Because it costs me nearly ?9 per day to get to work and that is

:01:22. > :01:28.what I get our. Next week I'm going to Poland by error, return fare,

:01:29. > :01:32.less than ?20. Compare that to my going into these time to London with

:01:33. > :01:38.my partner, ?71 return. Somethings not right. Rail operators stress is

:01:39. > :01:44.right is that fares have -- are influenced by government policy.

:01:45. > :01:47.Rail delivery groups that represent real operators and Network Rail say

:01:48. > :01:52.they know that in some places passengers haven't always got the

:01:53. > :01:57.service that they paid for, and that this much, 97p, to every pound that

:01:58. > :02:02.passengers pay, goes back into running and improving services.

:02:03. > :02:06.Great Northern added it is bringing in more drivers to reduce

:02:07. > :02:11.cancellations and more new trains on the route. The announcement of

:02:12. > :02:12.today's fare increase, a New Year message and many could have done

:02:13. > :02:13.without. Plans to build ten thousand homes

:02:14. > :02:16.on the Essex-Hertfordshire border as part of the Government's

:02:17. > :02:18.garden towns programme Ministers confirmed today

:02:19. > :02:22.that they will support the development on green belt land

:02:23. > :02:25.at Harlow and Gilston. It is one of three projects

:02:26. > :02:28.nationally which will receive ?1.4 million in funding

:02:29. > :02:31.to help make them happen. Smaller garden villages are proposed

:02:32. > :02:34.in Deenethorpe near Corby and Dunton Hills near

:02:35. > :02:41.Brentwood in Essex. A young woman will have her

:02:42. > :02:43.dream wedding thanks Amy Smith from Norfolk was diagnosed

:02:44. > :02:49.with lung cancer over Christmas. Her long term partner Gareth,

:02:50. > :02:51.proposed on Christmas Day. Since then family and friends

:02:52. > :03:05.have been fundraising It has been a bit a rush so we could

:03:06. > :03:09.set off the Gulf on the page to see we could get some money towards the

:03:10. > :03:13.wedding and it has just been so overwhelming, Gareth and Amy can

:03:14. > :03:17.believe the response we have had. We set a target that we thought was

:03:18. > :03:19.unrealistic, and we have topped that and smashed it within three days.

:03:20. > :03:21.She's having her dream wedding. who died after a car crashed

:03:26. > :03:30.he was an amazing son who had Liam Phillips' family say

:03:31. > :03:34.there is now a space that The case has been referred

:03:35. > :03:37.to the Independent Police A man and a woman are still being

:03:38. > :03:44.questioned on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead

:03:45. > :03:46.in Jaywick in Essex. Paramedics were called to the house

:03:47. > :03:48.in Bentley Avenue yesterday. It's believed the man had been

:03:49. > :03:51.assaulted on New Year's Eve. He was dead when police

:03:52. > :03:54.arrived at the property. all of the region's teams

:03:55. > :03:58.were in action this afternoon. Norwich City manager

:03:59. > :04:00.Alex Neil has been under pressure following a string

:04:01. > :04:01.of disappointing results. But his team secured

:04:02. > :04:03.a much needed win, Beating promotion rivals

:04:04. > :04:17.Derby County 3-nil at Carrow Road. It is January at Carrow Road, there

:04:18. > :04:22.is a sale on at the club shop, the fans are wearing woolly hat in the

:04:23. > :04:26.winter weather and the manager badly needs a win. But just two victories

:04:27. > :04:32.in the last 12 league games the Norwich fans are getting restless.

:04:33. > :04:36.Can you survive another defeat? That depends on the ambitions the

:04:37. > :04:42.clubhouse. If we don't win today I think you will have to think about

:04:43. > :04:48.going. I would like to see him stay, I would like to see him prove that

:04:49. > :04:52.he is a good manager, but I fear that the odds are increasingly

:04:53. > :04:55.stacked against them. As it turns out the city fans did not need to

:04:56. > :05:03.worry, the midfielder was on form and the hat-trick secured Norwich

:05:04. > :05:06.and the manager a much needed win. Norwich struggled in the opening

:05:07. > :05:13.period before Nelson Oliveira scored in the 15th minute and from then on

:05:14. > :05:16.Norwich dominated. They hit the post that Oliveira had the bar, in the

:05:17. > :05:22.second half of a happy man off before all of the went on to keep --

:05:23. > :05:27.complete his hat-trick. He was brilliant. He opened up the middle

:05:28. > :05:33.and give us options. The created a lot of chances. Oliveira was

:05:34. > :05:39.brilliant as well with his hat-trick. Very pleased. Norwich

:05:40. > :05:40.will opt to ninth in the championship, and the pressure on

:05:41. > :05:42.Alex Neill eases for now. Elsewhere in the Championship,

:05:43. > :05:44.Ipswich slipped down the table Northampton lost at home

:05:45. > :05:48.to Bradford, while the other League One teams in

:05:49. > :05:52.our region all drew. League Two Cambridge beat

:05:53. > :05:54.struggling Notts County 4-nil, and Colchester took their winning

:05:55. > :06:16.run to four games with a 2-nil win The news was quite miserable much

:06:17. > :06:22.more sunshine on the 2nd of January and all of the blue indicate we will

:06:23. > :06:26.have a sharp frost tonight, frost for many of us and that means a lot

:06:27. > :06:31.of white with temperatures low and these values in many spots down 2-3

:06:32. > :06:34.minus four. Probably some icy patches with surface water as well.

:06:35. > :06:39.With light winds that is freezing patches, too. Tomorrow I pressure in

:06:40. > :06:44.charge keeping us try but we have a speech working its way down the

:06:45. > :06:47.North Sea. A cold and frosty rights activity is where the front which is

:06:48. > :06:49.down from the North introduces more in the way of closely cloudy data

:06:50. > :06:55.tomorrow and hopefully the brightness coming through at times.

:06:56. > :06:59.Temperatures are expected to get higher tomorrow, even though that is

:07:00. > :07:04.expected to be more cloud around. Around 6 degrees, with the wind

:07:05. > :07:07.picking up to a light to moderate westerly for many others. We

:07:08. > :07:11.finished the day largely fine and dry but again I think a lot of cloud

:07:12. > :07:15.around to finish the day tomorrow. As we head into Wednesday, this

:07:16. > :07:19.front is expected to pull away to the south, taking green with it.

:07:20. > :07:23.Behind it much better conditions, drier conditions so probably rain in

:07:24. > :07:27.Southern counties to start Wednesday but then buying a fine everywhere

:07:28. > :07:32.with spells of sunshine at the very cold night expected on Wednesday, -6

:07:33. > :07:37.in many spots so a weight that frost and pasted together, two, that means

:07:38. > :07:43.a frosty icy sparked -- start to Thursday. On Friday probably a dry

:07:44. > :07:47.start with some brightness and sunshine, cloud increasing in the

:07:48. > :07:52.West and eventually some rain pushing in.

:07:53. > :07:53.Thank you. That is from us, we are back at 10:20pm after the ten

:07:54. > :08:12.o'clock News. Goodbye. Good evening. It has been turning

:08:13. > :08:16.colder and clearer and our weather watchers have been capturing the

:08:17. > :08:20.sunshine. Here is the scene in Derbyshire and where we have had the

:08:21. > :08:24.clear skies by day, we are in for a cold night tonight. Temperatures

:08:25. > :08:29.already plummeting, particularly towards the south with some icy

:08:30. > :08:32.stretches across parts of central and southern England, and into

:08:33. > :08:36.Wales. For the north-west, not as cold, as we have the cloud building.

:08:37. > :08:37.But to the south we
