:01:13. > :01:17.The union representing staff says it is their goodwill that stops
:01:18. > :01:21.All hospitals run on the goodwill of their staff.
:01:22. > :01:24.We see staff coming in earlx, working through their
:01:25. > :01:30.It has a massive impact on their own health and well-being
:01:31. > :01:34.when they're trying to care so much for those that are in the hospital.
:01:35. > :01:37.We try to encourage our members to take a break, but we know that
:01:38. > :01:39.if they did the likelihood is the hospital would noticd
:01:40. > :01:48.Large scale projects have bden considered to help ease
:01:49. > :01:55.A six ward block costing ?50 million, that wasn't approvdd.
:01:56. > :01:57.The Forum Project which would deliver 100 beds is waiting
:01:58. > :02:04.And whether the vacated Papworth site might be used to delivdr
:02:05. > :02:11.In the interim there have bden some initiatives to help
:02:12. > :02:24.One of the latest ones has been a coming together meeting
:02:25. > :02:26.every day before midday looking at whether there are some pdople
:02:27. > :02:29.occupying beds or otherwise that could maybe be discharged.
:02:30. > :02:31.This has made a small difference to waiting targets,
:02:32. > :02:32.stranded patients and operation cancellations.
:02:33. > :02:35.But it is simply not enough and the pressure continues to rise.
:02:36. > :02:38.In the last year, the number of patients aged 85 or over has
:02:39. > :02:42.People arriving by ambulancd has gone up nearly 10% and patidnts that
:02:43. > :02:44.are children or have mental health issues have
:02:45. > :02:48.Many factors are to blame for the problems, but this patient
:02:49. > :02:59.We are a financially challenged funded area for our health dconomy.
:03:00. > :03:02.We do have trouble finding workforce for the different jobs.
:03:03. > :03:06.The cost of living in Cambridge is really high.
:03:07. > :03:08.A lot of people are less willing to actually travel.
:03:09. > :03:12.There are a number of things that are coming together here.
:03:13. > :03:15.With the real winter looming, a solution needs to be found.
:03:16. > :03:29.The question is what and how quickly it can kick in?
:03:30. > :03:32.So if efforts so far haven't eased the crisis,

:04:12. > :04:14.turns up with injured people, will they be seen?
:04:15. > :04:18.Of course, if people turn up and they need emergency card,
:04:19. > :04:21.we're still open for business and we will still look after people
:04:22. > :04:26.The system is stil safe but it is under pressure.
:04:27. > :04:29.What about say an elderly pdrson that had a fall or a pregnant
:04:30. > :04:38.If people turn up at an emergency department, we will see thel.
:04:39. > :04:42.We may say that they could be better looked after by their GP
:04:43. > :04:45.or they could seek alternathve care, but if people need to see us,
:04:46. > :04:48.we will do everything we can to look after them.
:04:49. > :04:51.If you had a wish-list, what resources do you need to get
:04:52. > :04:56.We know a new ward won't be built overnight.
:04:57. > :04:59.We need to be able to get p`tients who are stranded in hospital out
:05:00. > :05:03.into each residential or nursing homes or being able to be
:05:04. > :05:10.That will be the single biggest thing that allow us to fulfhl our
:05:11. > :05:19.Who needs to step up in that case to put the care provisions
:05:20. > :05:22.The whole urgent care systel is a balance of emergency c`re,
:05:23. > :05:25.urgent care, general practice, but social care and the problems
:05:26. > :05:27.under social care are beginning to have a big impact
:05:28. > :05:35.on the ability of acute hospitals to deliver their core work.
:05:36. > :05:38.The developers behind a 5,000 home development in Corby have c`lled

:08:48. > :08:50.was brought in over a year `go, but so far, they haven't once
:08:51. > :09:00.referred a case to a Credit Reference Agency.
:09:01. > :09:04.The CSA is in the process of being scrapped and replaced
:09:05. > :09:06.by the child maintenance service, a service the Government is hoping

:09:18. > :09:20.we're actually launching an inquiry into the flaws of the old sxstem
:09:21. > :09:22.so that before the new systdm is fully rolled out,

:09:30. > :09:33.The fear is, when the new agency takes over, unless parents really
:09:34. > :09:35.apply to claim that money, the debt could simply
