:01:35. > :01:36.from giving evidence against her at a burglary trial.

:01:37. > :01:39.The murder weapon - this ceramic chicken-shaped pot that

:01:40. > :01:45.Caylor picked up and brought down on her sister's head.

:01:46. > :01:48.A member of the family found Nicki's body in the flat.

:01:55. > :01:56.Sentenced to a minimum 27 years in jail, the judge told

:01:57. > :01:58.Caylor she was a violent, dishonest, deceitful,

:02:14. > :02:19.The manner in which she killed Nicki has

:02:20. > :02:33.not only been very tragic and a gruesome set of circumstances.

:02:34. > :02:37.Caylor had gone to a fancy dress shop for advice on how

:02:38. > :02:40.The judge called it a relatively crude disguise.

:03:07. > :03:14.Next tonight - the rise in rough sleepers in some of our towns

:03:15. > :03:21.Every winter, councils take a snapshot of how many

:03:22. > :03:23.people are on the streets on one given night.

:03:24. > :03:26.And it's the bigger towns that have seen the sharpest rise.

:03:27. > :03:28.In Cambridge the number has more than doubled

:03:29. > :03:30.since this time last year - with 40 people sleeping rough

:03:31. > :03:39.and in Milton Keynes the figure has nearly trebled.

:03:40. > :03:43.Two years ago, Andrek was living under a bridge,

:03:44. > :03:51.at this Mexican restaurant in Cambridge.

:03:52. > :03:53.Andreas, who was homeless for seven years, prison on and off

:03:54. > :03:58.for many more, is on work experience, but he says not all

:03:59. > :04:05.been on the street, in trouble, or you've had a prison term inside,

:04:06. > :04:17.If someone's willing to change, then I think they deserve

:04:26. > :04:33.We're seeing a massive increase in service

:04:34. > :04:37.users and people who present on a daily basis they say

:04:38. > :04:42.We've seen an increase over the past five years on a regular

:04:43. > :04:45.basis and, since January this year, we've seen an 18% increase.

:04:46. > :04:47.Boss Luis Navarro nurtures talent regardless of

:04:48. > :04:53.background and think others should do the same.

:04:54. > :04:59.We have also all the type of problems like

:05:00. > :05:02.There are great opportunities there to work with

:05:03. > :05:04.people that really deserve the chance.

:05:05. > :05:11.For businesses, it makes sense.

:05:12. > :05:15.This is not something we do from a charitable

:05:16. > :05:21.point of view, we do these because it works.

:05:22. > :05:25.Luis, who owns this restaurant, says he's noticed a huge

:05:26. > :05:28.rise in a number of homeless people in Cambridge in recent years.

:05:29. > :05:30.He's from Mexico City where the problem is huge.

:05:31. > :05:32.He said if not more is done to help then people

:05:33. > :05:35.become desensitised and no one notices any more.

:05:36. > :05:37.In Stevenage, rough sleepers were counted at five last year.

:05:38. > :05:41.This evening, an event is being held here, inviting homeless people for

:05:42. > :05:43.a meal, Christmas gifts and care packages.

:05:44. > :05:54.We are only doing a tiny part, we're just a

:05:55. > :05:57.Sadly, every time those pieces get good together,

:05:58. > :06:00.something breaks that puzzle up and we have to start again.

:06:01. > :06:03.Experts say the actual number of rough sleepers

:06:04. > :06:06.in our towns may be far higher than

:06:07. > :06:18.Sport, and Northampton Saints have escaped punishment for the way

:06:19. > :06:21.they dealt with a head injury to their winger George North

:06:22. > :06:24.Medical staff allowed him to stay on despite footage

:06:25. > :06:26.which appeared to show that he was knocked unconscious.

:06:27. > :06:33.James Burridge reports from Franklins Gardens.

:06:34. > :06:35.There is a huge sense of relief here in Northampton

:06:36. > :06:41.tonight as a result of

:06:42. > :06:43.this verdict of the George North's suspected concussion.

:06:44. > :06:46.Well, because the player is one of the

:06:47. > :06:49.He is also, though, one of the most concussed.

:06:50. > :06:52.So, when questions are being raised about how this place looks

:06:53. > :06:54.after one of its own, it becomes a big story.

:06:55. > :06:57.This was the incident which has caused so much controversy.

:06:58. > :06:59.George North lying motionless after a midair tackle

:07:00. > :07:05.The medical team immediately running to treat him.

:07:06. > :07:09.North was given a pitch side assessment, lasting eight minutes,

:07:10. > :07:12.Like all premiership clubs, the medics reviewed the incident

:07:13. > :07:14.on computers, but they missed these particular replay shots,

:07:15. > :07:16.which appeared to show the player concussed.

:07:17. > :07:19.The club accepts North may have lost consciousness and should not

:07:20. > :07:26.The investigation panel are not going to punish the club.

:07:27. > :07:28.They believe they acted in the player's best

:07:29. > :07:33.interests and followed the correct medical procedures.

:07:34. > :07:40.That's their immediate priority in everything that they do.

:07:41. > :07:43.Not about winning games, not about helping me get better

:07:44. > :07:46.players out on the field or back out, it is always player welfare.

:07:47. > :07:49.And they have admitted that if they saw a different

:07:50. > :07:56.view of the incident, they would have reacted differently.

:07:57. > :07:58.Two years ago, I filmed behind-the-scenes with

:07:59. > :08:08.They train to try and prevent cases like George North's

:08:09. > :08:15.This investigation has effectively blamed the system,

:08:16. > :08:17.and concluded, with nine recommendations, to make sure

:08:18. > :08:23.this type of incident does not happen again.

:08:24. > :08:26.Lenny Newman is a former first-team manager and player at Northampton

:08:27. > :08:28.who missed a whole season because of concussion.

:08:29. > :08:31.I mean, the club admit they got it wrong, but they have

:08:32. > :08:41.see how there can be any punishment for what is,

:08:42. > :08:44.that is not up to scratch with modern-day professionalism.

:08:45. > :08:47.The worrying thing is, if anything, the only thing the medical staff

:08:48. > :08:49.at Northampton should have done is pulled the player

:08:50. > :08:59.if there is any reasonable doubt that he had been concussed.

:09:00. > :09:01.George North all along has said he was not concussed,

:09:02. > :09:04.has since returned to training, and has been cleared

:09:05. > :09:07.But it is clear the system and the means of protecting players

:09:08. > :09:18.Now, since today's verdicts, some of question why there

:09:19. > :09:20.hasn't been a punishment when you consider how players get

:09:21. > :09:23.lengthy ban for high tackles near the shoulder

:09:24. > :09:32.or neck, but there doesn't appear to be any correlation.

:09:33. > :09:35.I think even though there are actually any

:09:36. > :09:38.repercussions for the club, there are implications in the long term

:09:39. > :09:41.Investigations are continuing into the cause of a fire

:09:42. > :09:43.on the Earlstrees industrial estate in Corby earlier today.

:09:44. > :09:49.70 firefighters from three counties tackled the blaze.

:09:50. > :09:52.were warned to keep doors and windows closed

:09:53. > :10:03.That's the late news from Look East - I'll leave

:10:04. > :10:12.A cloudy picture across some of the region had been

:10:13. > :10:14.moment but, as we go through the night,

:10:15. > :10:15.clear skies developing with

:10:16. > :10:19.We are expecting lows down close to freezing.

:10:20. > :10:22.It brings the risk of some icy patches where we had those

:10:23. > :10:26.earlier showers and certainly a risk of frost as we get through to first

:10:27. > :10:29.Now, tomorrow morning's pressure passengers high pressure building

:10:30. > :10:32.chilly start and, through the morning,

:10:33. > :10:35.certainly looking like there will be some long spells of

:10:36. > :10:37.sunshine once the mist and fog has lifted.

:10:38. > :10:39.So, temperatures rising in the sunshine to around 6-7 C.

:10:40. > :10:41.Still on the chilly side with a light,

:10:42. > :10:45.Our wind will increase as the day goes on and into

:10:46. > :10:48.More cloud coming in from the west by the end

:10:49. > :10:51.The national weather's coming up but here's the outlook.

:10:52. > :10:53.A windy forecast expected for Friday, rather

:10:54. > :10:54.cloudy with rain pushing in

:10:55. > :11:01.later and rather windy but mild for the Christmas weekend.

:11:02. > :11:04.good for us. Mild by the time we reach Christmas Day.

:11:05. > :11:09.Hello there, there is wet and very windy weather on the way in the

:11:10. > :11:15.run-up to Christmas. The worst of the weather to the northern half of

:11:16. > :11:19.the UK. We have a strengthening jet out of North America that is

:11:20. > :11:23.propgating across the Atlantic. Rushing our way. Picking up low

:11:24. > :11:28.pressure, deepening them, tracking them to the north-west of Scotland,

:11:29. > :11:29.hence the wind and rain. Tonight, we have gale force
