:01:04. > :01:05.that parents saw uniformed police officers coming into the school
:01:06. > :01:09.The 23rd of March last year was the worst day
:01:10. > :01:12.The day her two children were identified as being
:01:13. > :01:19.The mother bought these guns as a gift for her boys.
:01:20. > :01:22.They were on special for two for ?10, but she never thought
:01:23. > :01:25.that this would be the reason why the police would be
:01:26. > :01:28.Her seven-year-old son told his classmates
:01:29. > :01:37.For the school, it added to a range of concerns they had about the boys,
:01:38. > :01:46.but the mum says there was nothing to worry about.
:01:47. > :01:49.The school said to me that he had been speaking Arabic in class
:01:50. > :01:51.and scaring the other children and that he'd been talking
:01:52. > :01:54.about going to Friday prayers, with his father to a mosque.
:01:55. > :01:56.He couldn't possibly have been speaking Arabic,
:01:57. > :01:58.because we don't speak it as a family, in fact we speak
:01:59. > :02:01.English at home and he wouldn't have been talking about
:02:02. > :02:05.with his father because he's never set foot in a mosque.
:02:06. > :02:07.The boys were reported to the police the day after the bombing
:02:08. > :02:11.The school raised its concerns under the Government's
:02:12. > :02:15.anti-radicalisation scheme, Prevent.
:02:16. > :02:17.The human rights group Liberty argue the duty to report suspected
:02:18. > :02:25.What it is doing is turning teachers and doctors,
:02:26. > :02:27.who have themselves said that they don't want this duty
:02:28. > :02:30.in place, it's trying to turn them into counterterrorist police.
:02:31. > :02:34.That is not their role and they don't have these
:02:35. > :02:36.skills or the information with which to make those
:02:37. > :02:41.We think that the duty needs to be be repealed and there certainly
:02:42. > :02:44.needs to be an independent review of whether it is in
:02:45. > :03:03.Central Bedfordshire Council has apologised, and said:
:03:04. > :03:04.They often have nightmares about the police.
:03:05. > :03:09.My elder son, particularly, often gets scared at school and has
:03:10. > :03:14.told me himself that he doesn't want to talk about anything to do
:03:15. > :03:21.He wants to fit in now and that's heartbreaking,
:03:22. > :03:25.for me, as a mother, that my child feels he needs
:03:26. > :03:27.to hide his identity and hide who he is.
:03:28. > :03:31.The boys are already at a new school, but the emotional
:03:32. > :03:41.Their mum says she wishes she left the toy on the shelf.

:03:47. > :03:53.It's part of Britain's counter-terrorism effort,
:03:54. > :03:56.an attempt to stop people being attracted to extremist
:03:57. > :04:00.groups like Al-Quaeda, so-called ISIS, Al-Shabaab.
:04:01. > :04:02.Now almost immediately, critics pounced on the scheme,
:04:03. > :04:05.saying it was alienating the Muslim community.
:04:06. > :04:08.One senior Met Police officer even went as far as saying it
:04:09. > :04:10.discriminated against Muslims, and that many people
:04:11. > :04:16.felt this was a form of state-sponsored spying.

:04:19. > :04:22.Well, under the scheme, all public bodies and, yes,
:04:23. > :04:24.that does include schools have a duty to "prevent"
:04:25. > :04:27.The children in this case are very young,
:04:28. > :04:33.and clearly mistakes were made but of course there have been some
:04:34. > :04:35.high-profile cases of children being radicalised in the UK.
:04:36. > :04:37.You may remember the London schoolgirls who travelled
:04:38. > :04:43.The Government is sticking with the strategy, saying it
:04:44. > :04:46.has had some success, but what that measure
:04:47. > :04:54.Next tonight, the man accused of murdering the children's author
:04:55. > :04:57.Helen Bailey has told a court she was visited by menacing
:04:58. > :05:02.strangers in the weeks before her disappearance.

:06:10. > :06:11.having trouble sleeping and was prescribed a sedative.
:06:12. > :06:13.The prosecution claimed that he drugged his fiancee
:06:14. > :06:17.Asked today if he took the tablets, he said, "No."
:06:18. > :06:19.He said Helen had searched the Internet and found
:06:20. > :06:22.that they should not be taken by someone with his condition.
:06:23. > :06:27.He said she took the pills on several occasions as she too
:06:28. > :06:35.Asking if he had secretly poisoned his fiancee, he replied, "No."
:06:36. > :06:38.Helen Bailey's body was found three months after she disappeared,
:06:39. > :06:46.Ian Stewart had recently undergone surgery following a cancer scare.

:06:57. > :06:59.or dragged a body on a duvet, he replied, "No."

:07:25. > :07:32.as a quarter of our GPs are over 55 and approaching retirement.
:07:33. > :07:35.A new scheme in Bedford is hoping the opportunity to specialise
:07:36. > :07:45.Doctor Jasmin Ali, one of the first to sign up.
:07:46. > :07:48.She is able to split her time between the GP rota and building up
:07:49. > :07:55.With this scheme, it gives you a bit of balance between not
:07:56. > :07:58.being expected to be in a GP practice for five days.
:07:59. > :08:07.It gives you that leeway, if you like, to balance out the way
:08:08. > :08:10.you would want your profession to progress.
:08:11. > :08:14.Here at this surgery, they do have enough GPs.
:08:15. > :08:17.But they hope that the project will help with general recruitment.
:08:18. > :08:22.The question is whether it's worth the trade-off of GPs not working

:08:31. > :08:33.While there are national GP shortages, it's even worse
:08:34. > :08:36.They've got 250 GPs now, but still need another 30.

:09:10. > :09:12.practice and a raft of things too - make the job more doable,
:09:13. > :09:14.less administration, less regulation and more time
