:00:36. > :00:38.It's now almost three weeks since parent company GM

:00:39. > :00:40.agreed to sell its European business to

:00:41. > :00:46.Today the general secretary of the Unite union

:00:47. > :00:51.This is about making certain that our members feel comfortable

:00:52. > :00:57.Not just with the current Vivaro model but, of course, beyond that

:00:58. > :01:00.and I'm going to make certain that this plant is here

:01:01. > :01:06.But while unions try to reassure workers, one employee leaving work

:01:07. > :01:16.If it's going to shut down, if it's going to stay open.

:01:17. > :01:19.If we're going to shut down, how long have we got?

:01:20. > :01:22.According to Luton South MP Gavin Shuker, whose father

:01:23. > :01:25.and grandfather worked here, the long-term future of the plant

:01:26. > :01:29.will be determined by how we leave the European Union.

:01:30. > :01:32.We've had assurances from Peugeot, from the British government

:01:33. > :01:38.and so on that the future for this plant is secure through to 2025.

:01:39. > :01:40.The question is, what comes to replace it?

:01:41. > :01:42.And to be honest, that won't be decided by

:01:43. > :01:48.It will be decided by the kind of deal that

:01:49. > :01:52.While Peugeot has said the ?1.9 billion takeover

:01:53. > :01:57.won't mean any plant closures, it is looking to make savings.

:01:58. > :01:59.Well, if you look at the commitments

:02:00. > :02:02.the PSA have made to date, they are very vague.

:02:03. > :02:04.They're sort of making warm corporate noises but they're

:02:05. > :02:08.not really pinning themselves down to anything.

:02:09. > :02:11.it seems little will change here overnight.

:02:12. > :02:15.But with the process of leaving the EU beginning next week,

:02:16. > :02:22.there's likely to be more uncertainty to come.

:02:23. > :02:24.It's six months to the day since the young airman

:02:25. > :02:26.Corrie McKague vanished after a night out

:02:27. > :02:31.Today, police gave an update on their search for the 23-year-old,

:02:32. > :02:35.at a landfill site at Milton in Cambridgeshire where they believe

:02:36. > :02:39.Detectives also confirmed that a team from the Health

:02:40. > :02:42.and Safety Executive have joined them at the site.

:02:43. > :02:45.The search began three weeks ago and could take

:02:46. > :02:52.More than 100 people gathered at a vigil in Luton this evening

:02:53. > :02:56.to show solidarity after the terror attack in London.

:02:57. > :02:58.It comes as news emerged that the man behind it

:02:59. > :03:03.The event was organised by the Luton Council of Faiths.

:03:04. > :03:17.All faiths, once again, condemning Luton's unwanted links with terror.

:03:18. > :03:19.This incident or any incidents like this affect us all.

:03:20. > :03:24.So it's just a space for us to come together in a forum

:03:25. > :03:30.Khalid Masood, who carried out Wednesday's deadly attack.

:03:31. > :03:33.It's emerged now he had links with Luton.

:03:34. > :03:36.He was believed to have lived in this Luton street for two years

:03:37. > :03:42.from 2010 and at another house in the town the year before that.

:03:43. > :03:46.A national newspaper has published what they believe is his CV.

:03:47. > :03:51.He taught English as a foreign language in at college in this town.

:03:52. > :03:56.As far as I'm aware, he had two children at the time he was here.

:03:57. > :03:59.They appeared to be primary school children.

:04:00. > :04:02.He had a people carrier and he was loading his children

:04:03. > :04:04.into a people carrier with child seats.

:04:05. > :04:06.It's absolutely shocking and frightening

:04:07. > :04:14.Muslim community leaders here say better tactics are needed

:04:15. > :04:20.Muslim communities have got to engage with the government

:04:21. > :04:23.and the government being the government,

:04:24. > :04:30.it is a big responsibility on them to get the confidence

:04:31. > :04:36.Tonight, this their vigil to say hate mongers,

:04:37. > :04:44.extremists and terrorists have no place in this society.

:04:45. > :04:48.Local business organisations have committed nearly ?9 million to look

:04:49. > :04:53.into upgrading a rail junction that's a notorious bottleneck.

:04:54. > :04:55.The project to improve the Ely North junction was put on hold

:04:56. > :04:58.because Network Rail ran out of money.

:04:59. > :05:02.Our political correspondent Andrew Sinclair reports.

:05:03. > :05:06.MPs and business leaders at Ely Station this morning,

:05:07. > :05:10.clearly pleased and relieved that after several years of stagnation,

:05:11. > :05:15.this strategically important project is finally moving forward.

:05:16. > :05:16.I think it's really significant because

:05:17. > :05:19.we've got the next tranche of money to allow us to progress.

:05:20. > :05:21.This project, unfortunately, was put back but now

:05:22. > :05:25.it's on track again and we can ensure that we move forward.

:05:26. > :05:29.Ely is a pinch point here and we need to free it up.

:05:30. > :05:32.Rail lines from Norwich, King's Lynn, Ipswich,

:05:33. > :05:35.Peterborough and Cambridge all converge on Ely North.

:05:36. > :05:38.Until this junction is enlarged, there's no room to run

:05:39. > :05:44.A technical and feasibility study is the first step.

:05:45. > :05:47.With Network Rail unable to fund one until 2019,

:05:48. > :05:50.the main business organisations have decided to

:05:51. > :05:56.There's a very strong business case for improving the Ely area.

:05:57. > :05:59.Network Rail work in different control periods.

:06:00. > :06:03.we're making sure we're at the front of the queue for

:06:04. > :06:08.Today's money for Ely will speed things up

:06:09. > :06:10.but there's still a number of obstacles.

:06:11. > :06:14.Network Rail has warned that this will be a complex project.

:06:15. > :06:17.Work on this junction should've begun this year

:06:18. > :06:20.and despite today's announcement, there's still no start date

:06:21. > :06:22.and there won't be for some time to come.

:06:23. > :06:27.But there is now political and business momentum behind it

:06:28. > :06:40.and that's important in these things.

:06:41. > :06:46.It was a glorious spring day but will it last? Here's Julie.
