:01:13. > :01:16.to the Chinese President's state visit in 2015.

:01:17. > :01:19.It was said it would herald a golden era of UK-China relations.

:01:20. > :01:23.Now as we prepare to leave the EU, businesses are hoping to capitalise.

:01:24. > :01:30.What we want is, we all know Great Britain is great,

:01:31. > :01:35.so as entrepreneurs from China we want to be here to see how

:01:36. > :01:43.In particular, we are interested about the wake of Brexit,

:01:44. > :01:45.what's the latest developments between China and the UK,

:01:46. > :01:52.will there be any closer relations between London and Beijing?

:01:53. > :01:55.Milton Keynes was chosen for its reputation for innovation.

:01:56. > :01:58.Milton Keynes may also have more in common with the mega city

:01:59. > :02:06.The idea of going to Milton Keynes when these people come

:02:07. > :02:08.from Shenzhen, which 30 years ago was a small fishing village

:02:09. > :02:14.with a population of 35,000 people and is now a city of 15 million,

:02:15. > :02:16.so I guess it's grown faster than Milton Keynes

:02:17. > :02:23.The aim of today was to showcase the best of British

:02:24. > :02:38.Earlier I asked Lesley Batchelor, Director General of the Institute

:02:39. > :02:41.of Export why trips like this one are so important.

:02:42. > :02:43.Any business needs to have some face-to-face interaction.

:02:44. > :02:47.I think it gives everybody a chance to see that this is a great

:02:48. > :02:49.opportunity for us and, indeed, that there is somebody

:02:50. > :02:55.The Chinese in particular find it very important to meet several times

:02:56. > :02:57.before they even start thinking about doing business with people.

:02:58. > :03:01.And we are currently very reliant on European trade.

:03:02. > :03:06.Are we ready in the east to look beyond Europe now?

:03:07. > :03:11.No, I think we need to do some work on how we're going to trade.

:03:12. > :03:14.I think we need to learn a lot more about process and about how

:03:15. > :03:22.the compliance issues work around the world.

:03:23. > :03:25.Goods can't travel on an aeroplane, for example, without the right

:03:26. > :03:28.security papers and the papers that actually help you to get into that

:03:29. > :03:31.country on the other side and we as a nation need to look

:03:32. > :03:34.at how we do that and that's what the institute does,

:03:35. > :03:36.we are very big on helping people to trade and understand

:03:37. > :03:38.the documentation and compliance issues that support that trade.

:03:39. > :03:41.Do you see Brexit as a problem or a big opportunity?

:03:42. > :03:47.From where we are, it means that there is going to be an awful

:03:48. > :03:50.lot of opportunity for businesses but it does mean that they have

:03:51. > :03:53.the problem of finding out how to enter those markets properly

:03:54. > :03:55.and what to do to make it an effectively profitable

:04:05. > :04:06.The chilling words of a man who tried to kill his ex-girlfriend

:04:07. > :04:11.before violently stabbing her new partner to death.

:04:12. > :04:13.Matthew Sharpe has been jailed for at least 25

:04:14. > :04:16.years for killing Andrew Hasler and trying to kill Charna Knights

:04:17. > :04:25.A neighbour who saved her life was today praised by the judge.

:04:26. > :04:27.Possessive and controlling with an intention to murder,

:04:28. > :04:30.Matthew Sharpe bought three knifes with the sole intention of killing

:04:31. > :04:42.Charna Knights, supported by family and friends in court today,

:04:43. > :04:44.survived after being stabbed 12 times after breaking

:04:45. > :04:51.The court heard that Sharpe said sorry as he put his arm around

:04:52. > :04:52.Charna's neck and then stabbed her millimetres

:04:53. > :05:01.Andrew Hasler tried to help but he was stabbed 17 times.

:05:02. > :05:03.Sharpe didn't stop until he was dead - and then he turned

:05:04. > :05:07.The vicious attack happened in January at the flat

:05:08. > :05:11.Charna Knights shared with Andrew Hasler.

:05:12. > :05:15.He'd offered her a place to stay and they formed a relationship.

:05:16. > :05:17.Charna's life was saved by neighbour Andrew Phelps,

:05:18. > :05:27.He was praised by the judge and given a bravery award

:05:28. > :05:30.for wrestling the knife from Sharpe as he tried to stab him.

:05:31. > :05:33.The murdered man's mother gave her reaction.

:05:34. > :05:35.Still can't believe that Andrew's not here with us.

:05:36. > :05:37.But I'm pleased to see that the judge recognised

:05:38. > :05:44.Andrew Phelps' actions in saving Charna.

:05:45. > :05:47.Charna Knights said although she knew Sharpe had a temper,

:05:48. > :05:56.she had no idea he would commit such an evil attack.

:05:57. > :05:59.The actor Tim Piggott Smith has died while in Northampton.

:06:02. > :06:04.role in a new production of Death Of A Salesman,
