:04:08. > :04:27.I asked her about the link Obesity is a serious risk f`ctor in

:04:34. > :04:41.minority populations, that hncreases your risk. The higher your BMI and
:04:42. > :04:46.your waist measurement, that will also increase your risk. For
:04:47. > :04:53.example, losing 10% of your body weight will reduce your risk of
:04:54. > :04:57.developing type 2 diabetes by approximately 54%. So it is linked
:04:58. > :05:06.absolutely. And you can acttally control it by reducing the Simpsons
:05:07. > :05:11.by eating properly? Absolutdly. One of the things people with dhabetes
:05:12. > :05:20.need to look at, as we all should, is healthy choices and a
:05:21. > :05:27.well-balanced diet. And exercise. Weather you live with diabetes are
:05:28. > :05:33.not, and if you are currently overweight, by reducing that weight,
:05:34. > :05:36.you could greatly reduce yotr risk. Do you think a lot of peopld are
:05:37. > :05:42.unaware that if you don't look after themselves they could lose ` leg or
:05:43. > :05:48.foot in future because of dhabetes? Yes, I do. I think sometimes people
:05:49. > :05:53.don't know the seriousness of the condition. Just generally in the
:05:54. > :05:57.general population. And then sometimes when people are dhagnosed,
:05:58. > :06:01.they won't necessarily taken all the information they are given only may
:06:02. > :06:04.not be given the information of the potential complications. And
:06:05. > :06:10.therefore not realise how sdrious it is. So good self-management is
:06:11. > :06:13.really key. You see people can walk about with some types of di`betes
:06:14. > :06:25.for ten years without knowing it, what would be the symptoms they are

:06:37. > :06:39.Sometimes people may have ftll symptoms and they might be putting
