:00:42. > :00:46.There was a breakdown vehicle, four police cars, and at least

:00:47. > :00:50.They had cones and markers, you know, measuring.

:00:51. > :00:53.And they're going house-to-house to ask people what they'd heard

:00:54. > :00:59.Police say one of their unmarked vehicles had been following a

:01:00. > :01:04.maroon Ford Escort which had failed to stop.

:01:05. > :01:07.It reached this spot and collided with a silver BMW.

:01:08. > :01:09.The 17-year-old who died was in the Escort.

:01:10. > :01:12.Another teenager in the car the same age was critically hurt.

:01:13. > :01:14.Two other teenagers had minor injuries and were arrested.

:01:15. > :01:17.One on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and possessing

:01:18. > :01:19.class A drugs with intent to supply, the other on suspicion

:01:20. > :01:29.The case is being monitored by the Independent Police

:01:30. > :01:43.Complaints Commission, which said in a statement...

:01:44. > :01:46.It's hoped lung cancer could be detected and treated earlier thanks

:01:47. > :01:49.to new research taking place in this region.

:01:50. > :01:52.The University of East Anglia is looking a therapy

:01:53. > :01:59.It's being part-funded by a local charity.

:02:00. > :02:03.Sally Millsopp from Norfolk lost her mother to a rare lung cancer.

:02:04. > :02:05.Jennifer Earnshaw was a headteacher and breathed in asbestos

:02:06. > :02:12.Chemotherapy extended her life but couldn't save it.

:02:13. > :02:15.To be told there really is no treatment that is going to cure it

:02:16. > :02:21.and that it's really a case of, "Would you like this treatment

:02:22. > :02:23."to sort of hopefully hold it back for a while?"

:02:24. > :02:27.It's just a horrible situation to be in.

:02:28. > :02:30.That's why photodynamic therapy is being studied.

:02:31. > :02:35.What happens is light-sensitive medication is injected

:02:36. > :02:37.into the patient, clinging to cancerous cells.

:02:38. > :02:40.A tube's then inserted with a laser on the end -

:02:41. > :02:44.the light reacts with the drug, killing the tumour.

:02:45. > :02:49.Researchers hope it could be an alternative to surgery.

:02:50. > :02:51.Surgery is very invasive because the lungs are

:02:52. > :02:55.A lot of people can't actually have surgical reception.

:02:56. > :02:58.The treatment's already used for some skin cancer patients.

:02:59. > :03:03.Now, the Norfolk PDT charity is funding research for lung cancer.

:03:04. > :03:05.This treatment's a long way off being approved.

:03:06. > :03:09.If successful, it would still have to go through clinical trials

:03:10. > :03:12.and all that could take around seven years.

:03:13. > :03:14.But if it works, it could transform the lives
