:00:48. > :00:49.will lead to "significant improvements" for passengers.

:00:50. > :00:51.The Government will have to approve the deal.

:00:52. > :00:54.But the surprise announcement has been criticised by unions

:00:55. > :00:59.who said it made a "mockery" of the franchising process.

:01:00. > :01:02.It follows the news that an Italian company is due to buy the C2C

:01:03. > :01:05.franchise that runs the line from London to Southend.

:01:06. > :01:18.Our business correspondent Richard Bond reports.

:01:19. > :01:20.It's a deal that comes at a critical time

:01:21. > :01:24.It is only three months since the Dutch firm Abellio started

:01:25. > :01:28.It was won on the back of a promise to transform services in Essex,

:01:29. > :01:31.Suffolk and Norfolk through a ?1.4 billion investment.

:01:32. > :01:33.A completely new fleet of trains will be introduced with the aim

:01:34. > :01:37.of cutting average journey times by 10%.

:01:44. > :01:46.The company Abellio is selling a stake to is Mitsui,

:01:47. > :01:48.a Japanese conglomerate with interests in everything

:01:49. > :01:54.Abellio won't say how much Mitsui is paying for it's 40% stake,

:01:55. > :01:57.but this will be the first time a Japanese company

:01:58. > :02:03.will be a shareholder in a British train company.

:02:04. > :02:07.It makes a mockery of the tendering process because tendering processes

:02:08. > :02:10.are quite tough and they must satisfy safety grounds,

:02:11. > :02:20.We have got this company who's coming out of the blue,

:02:21. > :02:23.never been in the process and suddenly they are buying

:02:24. > :02:29.Sports Direct getting involved in the train industry?

:02:30. > :02:31.Japan's rail system is best known for it's 200 mile

:02:32. > :02:34.Unfortunately for local commuters, there's no chance of any

:02:35. > :02:40.Abellio says Mitsui was the best partner to help transform

:02:41. > :02:45.Its promises include introducing regular 90-minute

:02:46. > :02:49.services between Norwich and Liverpool Street,

:02:50. > :02:51.all passengers will care about is whether such

:02:52. > :02:58.Our business correspondent Richard Bond reporting and earlier

:02:59. > :03:06.I asked Richard what he thought was behind the decision to sell.

:03:07. > :03:09.When Abellio first pitch for this franchise it did so as part

:03:10. > :03:16.of the joint bid with another transport company called Stagecoach.

:03:17. > :03:19.Stagecoach pulled out and Abellio ploughed on on their own

:03:20. > :03:24.It is now saying that it was always it is intention and wish to be

:03:25. > :03:28.Basically you have got to bear in mind that when you are running

:03:29. > :03:33.a major franchise like this over nine years, there are huge

:03:34. > :03:37.risks and being part of a joint venture

:03:38. > :03:43.Should we be concerned that this company Mitsui was not part

:03:44. > :03:45.of the bidding process considering it now owns 40%

:03:46. > :03:52.It still owns 60% of the company and is still in charge

:03:53. > :03:56.Mitsui is being vetted by the Department for Transport

:03:57. > :03:59.and the Government act to put out a statement to light saying that it

:04:04. > :04:10.that passengers will benefit from it.

:04:11. > :04:15.Mitsui is a fit and proper partner for Abellio.

:04:16. > :04:19.Football and Ipswich have been dumped out the FA Cup

:04:20. > :04:25.It was a poor performance from Town and they paid the price

:04:26. > :04:30.Lincoln scored the only goal of the game to move

:04:31. > :04:34.Joining me from the ground is Alex Mathie the former Town

:04:35. > :04:41.player and summariser for BBC Radio Suffolk tonight.

:04:42. > :04:46.How do you explain that performance away?

:04:47. > :04:52.I think it was a poor performance from Ipswich. Lincoln wanted the

:04:53. > :04:57.game, wanted to win the game a lot more than we did. They had a good

:04:58. > :05:02.game plan and they were the better team on the night, to be fair. Terry

:05:03. > :05:10.Butcher said he was embarrassed and that it was a disgrace. Do you agree

:05:11. > :05:14.with that? I would agree with that. I was frustrated watching it, seeing

:05:15. > :05:18.a team like Ipswich Town playing away they did. All credit to

:05:19. > :05:22.Lincoln, they came out and they played very well. There was a lot

:05:23. > :05:25.more hunger and desire from their players than Ipswich players to go

:05:26. > :05:28.through to the next round of the cup. Where do you lay the blame with

:05:29. > :05:35.Mike kids at the players or Mick McGrath the? To be fair, the players

:05:36. > :05:39.got to stand up and be counted. Small pitch, tight areas, they've

:05:40. > :05:43.got to have the confidence to go out and play. Tonight, they didn't have

:05:44. > :05:47.that hunger or desire to go through to the next round. The Lincoln

:05:48. > :05:50.have got to take responsibility. have got to take responsibility.

:05:51. > :05:52.Thank you very much indeed for joining us tonight.

:05:53. > :05:54.And BBC Radio Suffolk will have more reaction

:05:55. > :05:58.to the match on their breakfast programme tomorrow morning.

:05:59. > :06:00.A dog walker from Suffolk told Suffolk Coastal Council

:06:01. > :06:04.about the dangerous state of the cliffs at Thorpe Ness.

:06:05. > :06:11.Maggie Scorer contacted the council last Thursday with her concerns.

:06:12. > :06:14.On Saturday a man was killed at the base of the cliffs.

:06:15. > :06:25.unless something was done, either putting a cordon to stop

:06:26. > :06:28.people going above and also below, and certainly big signs to warn

:06:29. > :06:30.people about the dangers, tragedy would happen.

:06:31. > :06:33.The police have released images of the final two

:06:34. > :06:39.Who were in Bury St Edmunds at the same time Corrie

:06:40. > :06:46.The airman from RAF Honington disappeared after a night out

:06:47. > :06:49.Officers say the woman and the cyclist could be

:06:50. > :07:00.Time is running out for people who want to have their say over

:07:01. > :07:02.plans for a new nuclear power station in Suffolk.

:07:03. > :07:03.With the second round of public consultation

:07:04. > :07:13.Sizewell C would be the biggest civil engineering project ever

:07:14. > :07:16.It would take up to ten years to build.

:07:17. > :07:19.Our environment reporter Richard Daniel has been looking

:07:20. > :07:23.Minsmere, a world-renowned nature reserve that sits cheek

:07:24. > :07:28.The prospect of a massive construction site close

:07:29. > :07:37.From that, potential to disturb birds in the non-breeding season,

:07:38. > :07:39.in the winter, but also in their breeding territories

:07:40. > :07:42.if there is too much noise, impact on the water levels,

:07:43. > :07:44.that could potentially affect their feeding areas.

:07:45. > :07:47.EDF says it's carrying out environmental surveys.

:07:48. > :07:49.But it won't publish detailed information until the final stage

:07:50. > :08:05.Sizewell C would effectively double its size.

:08:06. > :08:08.Add to that the area needed for contractors

:08:09. > :08:12.compounds and soil excavation and stockpiles during construction.

:08:13. > :08:25.This is where part of the campus accommodation as EDF is

:08:26. > :08:28.Our position all along has been in order

:08:29. > :08:30.for the region to benefit truly and for the local community's

:08:31. > :08:33.impact to be reduced, it would be much more

:08:34. > :08:35.effective to split the campus accommodation into more urban

:08:36. > :08:43.earmarked for Sizewell C lie Sizewell Marshes, fen meadow

:08:44. > :08:44.habitat conservationists describe as "irreplaceable".

:08:45. > :08:47.Part of this special site of scientific interest would be lost

:08:48. > :08:54.if a new access road to Sizewell C is built across it.

:08:55. > :08:56.A lot of that is of a significant concern.

:08:57. > :08:58.We would also begin certain about the wider

:08:59. > :09:07.The raising of ground water through the more.

:09:08. > :09:09.We have a moral and ethical right to minimise the disruption.

:09:10. > :09:11.EDF says it's already begun creating wetland habitat

:09:12. > :09:14.We have a moral and ethical right to minimise the disruption.

:09:15. > :09:18.We accept there will be disruption, but there are also be a lot

:09:19. > :09:21.of benefits to be brought by this project and it's up to us to make

:09:22. > :09:24.sure we get the balance in terms of minimising the impact,

:09:25. > :09:27.while still bringing the significant benefits it can bring to Suffolk.

:09:28. > :09:29.Conservationists say at this stage they don't have sufficient

:09:30. > :09:31.information to gauge what the full environmental impact

:09:32. > :09:40.But it's clear even now that there's plenty at stake.

:09:41. > :09:43.Coming up now the weather with Julie.

:09:44. > :09:54.Thank you very much. In some spots, we have got minus three and we could

:09:55. > :09:58.see those temperatures dropping lower in places. Widespread frost

:09:59. > :10:02.and later in the night we could see is thicker cloud drifting down from

:10:03. > :10:07.the north. That could produce a patchy rain and drizzle. For most of

:10:08. > :10:11.dry night. The cloud increases, the temperature could rise again in some

:10:12. > :10:14.spots. Some of us not waking up to eight frost and light winds

:10:15. > :10:19.overnight. Tomorrow, high pressure in charge. The weather front to the

:10:20. > :10:24.north. Even where we have the thicker cloud, we will hope it will

:10:25. > :10:27.break in times to allow some brightness and sunshine through. It

:10:28. > :10:31.does look like in the south-eastern corner that is where we are

:10:32. > :10:35.expecting the best of tomorrow's sunshine. Temperatures really

:10:36. > :10:41.struggling to about three or four Celsius. Saying on the chilly side.

:10:42. > :10:44.Holding onto the light south to south-westerly winds. We finished

:10:45. > :10:49.the day largely dry and five with a fair amount of cloud around. Light

:10:50. > :10:53.rain and drizzle in the north may be. In a minute, the National

:10:54. > :10:58.forecast, but I will leave you with the outlook. Thursday and Friday,

:10:59. > :11:00.high pressure still in charge. A lot of cloud around. Breaks in the

:11:01. > :11:03.south. from time to time. Staying settled

:11:04. > :11:08.still. Nick has the national forecast this evening.

:11:09. > :11:12.Hello. If you are watching the football earlier it turned out to be

:11:13. > :11:18.an evening for football fans in Lincolnshire. This is how it looked

:11:19. > :11:20.at the start of the day. No idea whether this weather watcher is a

:11:21. > :11:25.football fan, it's a fan of weather that matters here. All sorts of

:11:26. > :11:28.weather, from 13 in Aberdeenshire to two, despite the sunshine in Kent. I

:11:29. > :11:33.wonder if this six in the cloud across the Midlands into northern

:11:34. > :11:36.England and parts of Wales felt colder, particularly in these misty

:11:37. > :11:40.and foggy conditions in this weather watcher view. Some drizzly rain

:11:41. > :11:44.around at times still from the thicker cloud into parts of England

:11:45. > :11:45.and Wales overnight, hill fog too. Cloud for Scotland and
