:04:36. > :04:38.was the decision to observation of Dean
:04:39. > :04:40.Saunders a financial one? The jury will be back tomorrow
:04:41. > :04:43.morning to resume its Next tonight, the company behind
:04:44. > :04:53.plans to build the Sizewell C nuclear power station on the Suffolk
:04:54. > :04:55.coast has told Look East it will do everything it can
:04:56. > :04:58.to mitigate the negative impact All this week we've been taking
:04:59. > :05:03.a close look at the plans At the peak of construction,
:05:04. > :05:10.there would be 5,600 workers at Sizewell,
:05:11. > :05:12.an extra 2,000 vehicles and up While the project promises
:05:13. > :05:18.significant economic benefits, campaigners are asking
:05:19. > :05:19.at what price? In a moment, we'll here
:05:20. > :05:21.from the project director of Sizewell C but first this report
:05:22. > :05:29.by Richard Daniel. Construction on Sizewell B
:05:30. > :05:37.is underway. The influx of thousands
:05:38. > :05:39.of workers brought money, There was heavy drinking,
:05:40. > :05:50.prostitution and drugs. This resident says
:05:51. > :05:54.left social problems. We weren't ready for
:05:55. > :06:02.the displacement, there were so many people standing at the tills
:06:03. > :06:06.with bottles of whiskey. People felt the town didn't
:06:07. > :06:14.belong to them any more. At the peak of construction
:06:15. > :06:22.there would be more at Sizewell. About half of those would be living
:06:23. > :06:28.in or near the town. EDF says all would stick
:06:29. > :06:30.with a code of conduct. There will be testing
:06:31. > :06:32.and a hotline for complaints. Already in the plans
:06:33. > :06:36.are having an effect. This estate agent has seen increased
:06:37. > :06:39.interest in property investors. There would be a lot more
:06:40. > :06:45.business coming to town The town council says Sizewell C
:06:46. > :06:51.could be a huge economic At the moment it is not
:06:52. > :06:54.supporting it. It says there is insufficient
:06:55. > :06:56.information about the impact on GP services, schools,
:06:57. > :06:58.policing and the annual in-service There is a lot more detail that
:06:59. > :07:10.needs to come to the council and we would hope to work with EDF
:07:11. > :07:18.before we get to the next age. At a recent meeting, local companies
:07:19. > :07:21.were urged to sign up. EDF has already placed
:07:22. > :07:28.contracts worth 460 million. If Sizewell C was built, plenty
:07:29. > :07:30.of opportunities could lie ahead. I asked him about the influx
:07:31. > :07:44.of workers and those concerns surrounding prostitution,
:07:45. > :08:19.drugs and alcohol. The other concern is the volume
:08:20. > :08:38.of people coming to work It will be further work done,
:08:39. > :08:42.environmental monitoring and checking the condition of the Lords
:08:43. > :08:46.but further, there is feedback from local people and how that can be
:08:47. > :08:51.mitigated. The feedback from local people and the traffic issue is that
:08:52. > :08:55.they think it can't be mitigated. We have to work with the local
:08:56. > :08:58.authorities to convince them while we think the mitigation we will
:08:59. > :09:04.propose at the end of the consultation process will actually
:09:05. > :09:09.make it much better. I think many people can see the economic
:09:10. > :09:12.benefits, but the question that remains, at what price? That is a
:09:13. > :09:20.balancing act you have to make. Very much so. That is why we are
:09:21. > :09:26.consulting. We are obviously very proud of the opportunities that it
:09:27. > :09:29.could bring economically and job wise, skills development for the
:09:30. > :09:32.local community. It is a very large construction projects as part of the
:09:33. > :09:37.progress that like process we are progress that like process we are
:09:38. > :09:40.going through is to try to mitigate the negative impact while still
:09:41. > :09:42.realising all the benefits that go along with it. Thank you.
:09:43. > :09:44.Finally tonight, a pilot project is underway at The East
:09:45. > :09:47.of England Ambulance Service to reduce the number of people taken
:09:48. > :09:51.Instead of sending frontline crews, patients will be treated by a senior
:09:52. > :09:53.emergency medical technician and an occupational
:09:54. > :09:56.16% of all calls to the service are fall related, Putting
:09:57. > :10:08.Coming up now, the weather with Julie.
:10:09. > :10:17.But from the rest of the team, good night.
:10:18. > :10:24.Thank you. A dry night ahead with the a lot of clear sky although more
:10:25. > :10:28.in the way of cloud in the north, but under clear skies it'll be very
:10:29. > :10:32.chilly indeed with the temperature already lower than these values.
:10:33. > :10:37.With very light winds we are looking at patchy mist and fog as well.
:10:38. > :10:42.Tomorrow, high pressure in charge keeping it fine and dry and the fog
:10:43. > :10:47.may take some time to clear. There should be a lot of sunshine for much
:10:48. > :10:53.of the day. The temperature of around six Celsius. And we finished
:10:54. > :10:59.the day with again a lot of sunshine. The national just the
:11:00. > :11:01.moment but the outlook, and on Saturday more clouds but hopefully
:11:02. > :11:06.more sunshine, some decent sunny looks as though we can, a bit more
:11:07. > :11:11.cloud on Sunday. Now the national picture.
:11:12. > :11:17.Good evening, it will gradually get colder in the UK in the next few
:11:18. > :11:20.days, something we don't have to worry about in Australia at this
:11:21. > :11:21.time of year. Of course it's the Australian
