:01:14. > :01:15.including complacency about Dean's state of mind and circumstances.
:01:16. > :01:18.In an interview with Look East, a former inmate told us
:01:19. > :01:20.what the medical wing of the prison was like.
:01:21. > :01:23.I wouldn't even say there WAS a proper medical
:01:24. > :01:30.So I've just come through myself - there would be a little
:01:31. > :01:33.like that, obviously with glass or
:01:34. > :01:36.bars on to protect the nurse, and from there the queue sometimes went
:01:37. > :01:41.people queueing back up the stairs...
:01:42. > :01:47.And they're all looking for medical help?
:01:48. > :01:51.And by this time people are still waiting in the queue, their
:01:52. > :01:52.dinner's going cold, everyone's getting
:01:53. > :01:54.angry, no-one wants to wait in the queues...
:01:55. > :01:57.And then people trying to jump in... It just causes riots.
:01:58. > :02:01.said the jury were let down by serious failings in both mental
:02:02. > :02:05.I'm just so grateful that someone's finally listened to us -
:02:06. > :02:11.Words can't describe how much we miss him,
:02:12. > :02:21.The blessing is we've got a little bit of him in his son.
:02:22. > :02:23.The family's now urging the coroner to prepare a report
:02:24. > :02:29.highlighting the failings, to try to prevent another needless death.
:02:30. > :02:31.The company which runs the medical wing, Care UK,
:02:32. > :02:32.has issued a statement, offering its condolences
:02:33. > :02:38.It says it's decided to end its contract with Chelmsford Prison,
:02:39. > :02:40.due to insufficient resources available to provide
:02:41. > :02:45.It also adds that it's developed a plan to help
:02:46. > :02:50.It's emerged today that a hospital in Norfolk went
:02:51. > :02:52.to court to evict a patient, who refused to leave
:02:53. > :02:58.The patient had been on the ward at the James Paget
:02:59. > :03:01.Another patient claimed the man treated the ward like a hotel.
:03:02. > :03:07.The James Paget Hospital says its decision to go to court
:03:08. > :03:10.to evict a patient wasn't taken lightly, but the bed was needed.
:03:11. > :03:15.The Portuguese man finally left ten days ago.
:03:16. > :03:17.Another patient on his ward, who didn't want to be identified,
:03:18. > :03:21.is disgusted he was allowed to treat the hospital like a hotel.
:03:22. > :03:26.that it stopped somebody else from being treated.
:03:27. > :03:32.He was getting all the X-rays, he was getting all the treatment,
:03:33. > :03:39.Solicitor Ben Ward says legally the hospital
:03:40. > :03:41.is in a difficult position, as without the patient's consent,
:03:42. > :03:47.It's a very, very difficult predicament for the hospital to be
:03:48. > :03:50.in, and ultimately they've had to take the decision to go
:03:51. > :03:57.And that seems to be the only legal way in which the hospital
:03:58. > :04:01.The MP for Great Yarmouth, Brandon Lewis, praises
:04:02. > :04:03.the way the hospital dealt with the situation,
:04:04. > :04:10.We all have a duty to think about what is right and appropriate,
:04:11. > :04:13.and that was clearly a case where there were opportunities
:04:14. > :04:15.for that person to be where they should have been
:04:16. > :04:18.That's just not fair on the local community.
