:00:16. > :00:17.from the Shadow cabinet and votes against Article 50.

:00:18. > :00:22.Long delays on the A12 after a lorry crashes off a bridge in Essex.

:00:23. > :00:29.I saw this lorry hit the barrier on the breach and all the metal

:00:30. > :00:32.railings were just flying off -- bridge.

:00:33. > :00:35.And the latest from the trial of a man accused of murdering

:00:36. > :00:42.the Suffolk couple, Peter and Sylvia Stuart.

:00:43. > :00:47.The Labour MP for Norwich South, Clive Lewis,

:00:48. > :00:48.has tonight resigned from the shadow cabinet.

:00:49. > :00:51.He stepped down as business spokesman just minutes before voting

:00:52. > :00:53.against Article 50 - the bill which will start

:00:54. > :00:55.the process for us to leave the European Union.

:00:56. > :00:57.He said he owed it to his constituents

:00:58. > :01:00.Let's go to Westminster and join our political

:01:01. > :01:17.Most MPs in our region voted for Article 50, the exceptions were the

:01:18. > :01:22.Liberal Democrat Norman Lamb and Clive Lewis who voted against.

:01:23. > :01:25.Official labour policy tonight was to accept that the majority of

:01:26. > :01:30.people in Britain voted to leave -- Labour. And therefore Article 50

:01:31. > :01:33.should be supported, but Clive Lewis could not do it.

:01:34. > :01:35.This is something Clive Lewis has been agonising over

:01:36. > :01:39.This morning, as he left his home, he was still struggling

:01:40. > :01:43.It's my intention to do what's right by my constituents and my conscience

:01:44. > :01:46.and whatever that takes, and also I have to think

:01:47. > :01:53.It's a really tough call and I think lots of MPs are having a tough time

:01:54. > :01:57.An MP for less than two years, Clive Lewis had already become

:01:58. > :01:59.a leading member of the Shadow Cabinet.

:02:00. > :02:04.Often talked about as a future party leader.

:02:05. > :02:07.He was also a key member of the Labour in campaign

:02:08. > :02:11.and with 56% of Norwich voting to stay, he felt that he had

:02:12. > :02:15.It could put me out of a job in the Shadow Cabinet.

:02:16. > :02:18.I have to be clear here, I came into politics to make

:02:19. > :02:20.a difference but also I have a conscience.

:02:21. > :02:31.As MPs began to vote tonight he issued a statement which said:

:02:32. > :02:34.This is a blow to the career of someone who has been seen

:02:35. > :02:41.Tonight Jeremy Corbyn called him an asset to the party and said

:02:42. > :02:44.he looked forward to working with him again in the future.

:02:45. > :02:54.Well, he is now a backbencher and he has no special responsibilities and

:02:55. > :02:58.he will fade from the limelight, but it is interesting, how nice Jeremy

:02:59. > :03:02.Corbyn was about him in the resignation statement. I ran into

:03:03. > :03:11.Jeremy Corbyn early this afternoon and he said Clive is a lovely man,

:03:12. > :03:14.and he didn't want to destroy him. I wonder if his exiles to the

:03:15. > :03:15.backbenches will not last for very long.

:03:16. > :03:18.But many of our MPs must be happy tonight that Brexit has

:03:19. > :03:25.Many of our MPs have been campaigning for many years to leave

:03:26. > :03:28.the EU, and there were a lot of smiles around Westminster when the

:03:29. > :03:31.bill went through. It's been a long march

:03:32. > :03:36.to get to this moment, to get the political establishment

:03:37. > :03:38.here in Westminster to agree to They now agree to that and we now

:03:39. > :03:48.need to get on with it. We've started on the journey, but

:03:49. > :03:55.they still very long way to go. Thanks for joining us. The -- there

:03:56. > :04:00.is still a very long way to go. Next tonight there've been major

:04:01. > :04:02.delays on the A12 tonight after a lorry crashed off a bridge

:04:03. > :04:05.onto the Southbound carriageway. The accident happened

:04:06. > :04:07.at about 4pm afternoon. The emergency services,

:04:08. > :04:09.including five fire crews Our chief reporter Kim Riley

:04:10. > :04:17.is close to the scene now. We are on the bridge from which the

:04:18. > :04:21.lorry fell this afternoon down the steep bank towards the southbound

:04:22. > :04:25.carriageway of the A12, the roof of the cab ripped off, and we have no

:04:26. > :04:29.information yet on the condition of the driver. BBC Essex spoke to one

:04:30. > :04:34.eyewitness. I've come round the bend and I can't

:04:35. > :04:37.believe what I was seeing. I saw this lorry hit the barrier

:04:38. > :04:40.on the bridge and all the metal railings were just flying

:04:41. > :04:51.off like anything. The recovery operation has been

:04:52. > :04:55.hampered by hazardous materials on the lorry, the lorry burst into

:04:56. > :04:58.flames and that had to be put out. This is the divisional officer.

:04:59. > :05:00.The articulated lorry was carrying an uninterrupted power supply,

:05:01. > :05:03.a large number of lead acid batteries as well as computer

:05:04. > :05:07.We need to get the vehicle off the embankment.

:05:08. > :05:09.However, it's still an unstable situation.

:05:10. > :05:12.With small pockets of fire remaining.

:05:13. > :05:18.We can't access the container itself because of its unstable position.

:05:19. > :05:25.The recovery operation is expected to take some time and it hasn't

:05:26. > :05:29.really started and it is expected that this section of the southbound

:05:30. > :05:33.A12 will remain closed through tomorrow's rush-hour. Thanks for

:05:34. > :05:35.joining us. The trial of a man accused

:05:36. > :05:39.of killing a couple from Suffolk has been told blood from the husband

:05:40. > :05:42.and hair from the wife were found The body of Peter Stuart was found

:05:43. > :05:46.in a stream near his home The body of his wife Sylvia

:05:47. > :05:55.has never been found. Alex Dunlop has been

:05:56. > :05:59.at Ipswich Crown Court. On day two of this trial,

:06:00. > :06:01.the daughter and son-in-law of the Stuarts, Christy

:06:02. > :06:08.and Stephen Paxman gave evidence. Wiping away tears, Christy Paxman

:06:09. > :06:11.told the court how she had alerted the police after her parents had

:06:12. > :06:14.failed to turn up for Hours later her father's

:06:15. > :06:16.body was found. Listening through an Albanian

:06:17. > :06:18.interpreter the defendant, wearing a grey T-shirt,

:06:19. > :06:19.listened intently The last time Peter

:06:20. > :06:27.and Sylvia Stuart were seen was in Goody's farm shop

:06:28. > :06:29.near their home. Peter's body was found five

:06:30. > :06:34.days later in a stream close by their remote

:06:35. > :06:36.cottage in Weybread. The 75 year old had been

:06:37. > :06:38.repeatedly stabbed. Sylvia's body has never

:06:39. > :06:40.been found but police The following day the prosecution

:06:41. > :06:45.say the defendant fled to France, Forensic officers examined it

:06:46. > :06:50.and on the driver's door they found blood which matched Peter Stuart's

:06:51. > :06:55.DNA profile and in the boot they found human hair

:06:56. > :06:57.which matched the profile They say the defendant's

:06:58. > :07:02.fingerprints were found on the driver's door

:07:03. > :07:04.and on a plastic Identity is a key

:07:05. > :07:07.issue in this case. The man in the dock,

:07:08. > :07:11.who was extradited from Luxembourg to face trial, claims he is not

:07:12. > :07:14.Ali Qazimaj but Vital Dapi. He says he has never

:07:15. > :07:16.visited the United Kingdom. But the prosecution

:07:17. > :07:19.say that's not true. British police already had

:07:20. > :07:22.a record of his fingerprints after he had previously been

:07:23. > :07:27.arrested sometime before. Another witness, Christy Paxman's

:07:28. > :07:31.88-year-old father-in-law Sidney Paxman, told the court

:07:32. > :07:34.that the defendant had been his carer in South Essex

:07:35. > :07:37.and knew him as Ali. He said the day Peter Stuart's body

:07:38. > :07:39.was found, Ali seemed agitated and told him he had

:07:40. > :07:48.done something bad. But pressed by the defence team,

:07:49. > :07:51.he said it was probably a reference to the fact that Ali had

:07:52. > :07:54.just quit his day job. The defendant pleads not

:07:55. > :07:56.guilty to double murder. Alex Dunlop, BBC Look East

:07:57. > :07:59.at Ipswich Crown Court. A third of people living in this

:08:00. > :08:02.region are over the age of 65. And that presents a huge

:08:03. > :08:07.challenge for social care, our Health reporter Nikki Fox has

:08:08. > :08:09.been to the market town of Swaffham in Norfolk -

:08:10. > :08:12.where they are trying something new by reorganising

:08:13. > :08:16.how care is delivered. Sandra Webb's been

:08:17. > :08:20.a carer for 13 years. You have that one first and then

:08:21. > :08:28.you chew the other one after. A former champion greyhound trainer,

:08:29. > :08:30.the 88-year-old has For a lot of people you're the only

:08:31. > :08:36.person they see all-day. It makes such a difference,

:08:37. > :08:38.even half an hour with someone can They're on their own

:08:39. > :08:41.the rest of that time. Agencies in Swaffham

:08:42. > :08:48.were working separately, now they have formed a scheme

:08:49. > :08:50.called Swaffham Cares. Sharing clients when short-staffed

:08:51. > :08:56.and recruiting together. Care homes also provide services

:08:57. > :09:00.for the wider community. She can go shopping or something,

:09:01. > :09:22.while I'm out of the way. They are also telling doctors

:09:23. > :09:25.and nurses about their services. GPs and social workers should

:09:26. > :09:29.be out there advising people what's available,

:09:30. > :09:30.meeting their needs, pointing them in

:09:31. > :09:34.the right direction. This is going to help?

:09:35. > :09:37.Hugely, absolutely. If we work collectively

:09:38. > :09:40.under this umbrella, because it's not happening

:09:41. > :09:44.at the moment. What Swaffham is doing is obvious,

:09:45. > :09:47.getting social care working together within a town,

:09:48. > :09:53.but it's not being done elsewhere. And a time when everything

:09:54. > :10:11.is stretched is a time The cold wintry weather is setting

:10:12. > :10:14.in over the next few days, temperatures dropping lower tonight,

:10:15. > :10:18.and the risk of wintry showers for coastal areas as we go through the

:10:19. > :10:23.night. Private Eye widely down to freezing and possibly a couple of

:10:24. > :10:30.degrees below -- temperatures widely down. The pressure set up shows the

:10:31. > :10:34.huge area of high pressure across Scandinavia and that will block any

:10:35. > :10:39.weather systems from the Atlantic. We have a cold easterly wind which

:10:40. > :10:43.will press on through the day and feel bitterly cold and that will

:10:44. > :10:47.also bring showers from the North Sea, and the showers could move

:10:48. > :10:51.further west. They are likely to be quite wintry, they might give a

:10:52. > :10:59.dusting of snow in places. The risk of icy patches, temperatures no

:11:00. > :11:02.higher than 2 degrees. This is the outlook, staying wintry

:11:03. > :11:08.cloudy and Ben Rich will take you through the bigger picture.

:11:09. > :11:14.Good evening. Over the next few days I suspect it's going to feel like we

:11:15. > :11:21.have been plunged into the deep freeze. Cold weather on the way and

:11:22. > :11:22.not necessarily crisp cold weather, with blue
