:00:00. > :00:00.Hello and welcome to the Look East late news.

:00:00. > :00:07.Lock down at a poultry farm on the Norfolk Suffolk border

:00:08. > :00:10.as bird flue is found in the region for the first time this winter.

:00:11. > :00:14.More suspicious bags have washed up on the region's beaches as police

:00:15. > :00:25.continue to investigate a massive cocaine haul.

:00:26. > :00:28.After a wintry weekend, some milder weather in your forecast for the

:00:29. > :00:32.week ahead. There's been an outbreak of bird flu

:00:33. > :00:36.at a poultry farm near Redgrave There are around 23,000

:00:37. > :00:41.birds on the farm. It's the region's first case

:00:42. > :00:47.of bird flu this winter. Our reporter Alex

:00:48. > :01:02.Dunlop is there now. Behind me you can see the farm, one

:01:03. > :01:07.of the units in our floodlights. You probably can't quite see, there is a

:01:08. > :01:10.disinfectant dip on the outside of the fence. Tests were carried out

:01:11. > :01:15.under triggers run this unit and found to be carrying the H5N8

:01:16. > :01:18.strain. They don't know whether it is low pathogen or high pathogen.

:01:19. > :01:26.We're in a village near another village called Redgrave on the

:01:27. > :01:30.Norfolk Suffolk border. Defra have put in a six mile restriction zone

:01:31. > :01:36.to prevent spread. They'll be humanely culling 23,000 birds,

:01:37. > :01:41.chickens, from this unit. I spoke to one of the region's, one of the

:01:42. > :01:47.country's biggest chicken producers. They manage this farm, and they say

:01:48. > :01:51.it doesn't produce meat, it is a breeder farm. They say they notified

:01:52. > :01:55.Defra as soon as they noticed mortality in their flocks on Sunday.

:01:56. > :02:00.Birds they say at other firms appear to be healthy, they say now fully

:02:01. > :02:07.cooperating with Defra. Lots of poultry farms in that area. Farmers

:02:08. > :02:11.must be very worried? There is a whole gathering of poultry farms

:02:12. > :02:16.here. The last big outbreak in 2007, one farm just one mile down the

:02:17. > :02:22.road, they had to call 22,000 birds. There are in mind, this is a sector

:02:23. > :02:27.that produces 107 million eggs, one in four of the country's chickens

:02:28. > :02:31.comes from the region. It is worth ?140 million a year, this is a very

:02:32. > :02:35.big deal. Since the first outbreak at a turkey farm in Lincolnshire,

:02:36. > :02:41.farmers and had to keep the poultry undercover and away from birds,

:02:42. > :02:47.service will be a body blow. The to public health from this virus is

:02:48. > :02:52.very low. Food agencies say that bird flu does not pose a safety risk

:02:53. > :02:54.to consumers. Alex, thank you very much.

:02:55. > :02:57.More suspicious packages have washed up on our beaches as investigations

:02:58. > :02:59.continue into last week's 50 million pound drugs haul.

:03:00. > :03:02.On Thursday bags containing cocaine were found on beaches at Hopton,

:03:03. > :03:05.Since then, two more suspected finds at Happisburgh in Norfolk

:03:06. > :03:17.This is not far from Happisburgh on the North Norfolk coast.

:03:18. > :03:20.This is where Mary and Nigel Green were walking their dog yesterday

:03:21. > :03:25.morning when Mary spotted an unusual package on the sand.

:03:26. > :03:28.We picked it up, and you opened it up, and inside you could see

:03:29. > :03:31.that it was wrapped in, like, gaffer tape, whatever it was.

:03:32. > :03:41.On Thursday, sports bags containing cocaine were found on the beach

:03:42. > :03:50.Ray lives close to where the drugs were found at Hopton.

:03:51. > :04:06.Here, a lifeboat has been helping with the search for more packages.

:04:07. > :04:10.Paddy Lee says that without a starting point,

:04:11. > :04:12.it's impossible to work out where any remaining packages

:04:13. > :04:18.For every search that we carry out, we need to know our start point,

:04:19. > :04:29.from which point we can conduct a search pattern.

:04:30. > :04:32.The authorities won't say exactly how many finds there have been,

:04:33. > :04:36.The National Crime Agency will only say investigations continue with law

:04:37. > :04:44.enforcement partners in the UK and overseas.

:04:45. > :04:47.Chris Hobbs is a former Border Control Special Branch Officer.

:04:48. > :04:50.I asked him if the it could have been an exchange

:04:51. > :04:56.There could well be some sort of handover, perhaps

:04:57. > :04:59.in the middle of the sea, from one ship to

:05:00. > :05:04.Or it could have been even somehow tethered there to a boy

:05:05. > :05:14.?50 million worth of drugs sounds like a lot of money to me.

:05:15. > :05:17.But in the great scheme of things, is that a lot in the UK,

:05:18. > :05:22.Certainly the UK has a serious drugs problem at the moment.

:05:23. > :05:24.The crime network obviously can't sustain that loss of ?50 million,

:05:25. > :05:32.They're obviously a crime network with a lot of resources,

:05:33. > :05:36.they won't be very pleased that it's been lost, but at the same time

:05:37. > :05:38.doubtless they have been successful before and probably

:05:39. > :05:41.So in the general scheme of things yes, it is significant.

:05:42. > :05:44.But I don't think it'll have a huge impact on what's

:05:45. > :05:48.And what does it say about the vulnerability

:05:49. > :05:55.Well, police have been cut, border force have been cut.

:05:56. > :05:58.We are terribly exposed along the east coast.

:05:59. > :06:01.We're also exposed at our major airports, where Border Force

:06:02. > :06:06.officers are taken away from customs duties to look at passports.

:06:07. > :06:09.All in all, if you are a drug trafficker looking to move drugs

:06:10. > :06:13.into the UK, you probably will be feeling quite satisfied with the way

:06:14. > :06:18.Apart from this ?50 million worth of loss.

:06:19. > :06:25.The family of missing airman Corrie McKeague will be taken

:06:26. > :06:27.to the landfill site near Cambridge where a major search

:06:28. > :06:31.Suffolk Police are moving the focus of their operation

:06:32. > :06:34.to the site at Milton, where waste from Bury St Edmunds

:06:35. > :06:40.was taken around the time Corrie went missing last September.

:06:41. > :06:44.The Milton landfill site covers 120 acres to the north of Cambridge.

:06:45. > :06:48.It takes 96,000 tonnes of waste every year.

:06:49. > :06:51.Some of that waste comes from Bury St Edmunds,

:06:52. > :06:55.specifically the town centre, where Corrie was last seen.

:06:56. > :07:01.Suffolk police will search a small area of this huge site.

:07:02. > :07:04.Corrie's mother Nicola told Look East that she would be coming

:07:05. > :07:07.here to the Milton landfill site for a private visit.

:07:08. > :07:12.Ahead of the main police search, starting on the 22nd of February.

:07:13. > :07:16.They will be excavating an area of nearly a quarter of an acre,

:07:17. > :07:23.It could take between six and ten weeks.

:07:24. > :07:27.Corrie was seen on CCTV going into a dead end road

:07:28. > :07:29.in Bury St Edmunds known as the horseshoe.

:07:30. > :07:31.It was lined with big commercial dustbins,

:07:32. > :07:37.A waste lorry was seen making a collection from the area,

:07:38. > :07:42.and although it was searched months ago, nothing was found.

:07:43. > :07:44.Could this have been done in week four?

:07:45. > :07:50.Hindsight's a wonderful thing, and let's not go there.

:07:51. > :07:54.We are where we are, they're being the search now.

:07:55. > :08:05.We still fully back Suffolk police and the decision that now

:08:06. > :08:09.they are going to search the landfill site.

:08:10. > :08:12.In another development, Nicola Urquhart has said that

:08:13. > :08:15.?50,000 reward for information leading to Corrie being found

:08:16. > :08:19.will be withdrawn because it hasn't been successful.

:08:20. > :08:23.His father Martin's side of the family has stressed

:08:24. > :08:25.that their five figure reward remains in place, and

:08:26. > :08:34.An inquest has opened into the death of a dog walker hho was killed

:08:35. > :08:37.when the cliff at Thorpeness collapsed on top of him.

:08:38. > :08:40.Brendan Lavery, who lived at Ingham near Bury St Edmunds,

:08:41. > :08:42.was walking on the beach when it happened one day after

:08:43. > :08:48.At the formal opening of the inquest in Ipswich today,

:08:49. > :08:53.we heard how the face of the cliff just suddenly collapsed on Mr Lavery

:08:54. > :08:59.The beach presumably at the time similar to now, quite narrow.

:09:00. > :09:04.We heard how the emergency services were summoned,

:09:05. > :09:07.and it was actually a doctor from the air ambulance

:09:08. > :09:12.Subsequently, a postmortem showed that he died

:09:13. > :09:15.from what were described as massive, multiple injuries.

:09:16. > :09:19.The assistant coroner said that Mr Laveryhad presumably come

:09:20. > :09:22.here for the pleasure of a walk on the beach.

:09:23. > :09:26.It was a major tragedy that it cost him his life.

:09:27. > :09:30.We're back in breakfast tomorrow from 6.30, but I'll

:09:31. > :09:36.say goodnight and leave you with the weather with Julie.

:09:37. > :09:41.It is a dry night ahead, with largely clear skies. Under the clear

:09:42. > :09:46.skies, temperatures are ready falling. For some of us, they will

:09:47. > :09:50.drop a little lower than these values, down to around freezing. Out

:09:51. > :09:54.of the wind, we could see some frost. Not for everyone. Tomorrow, a

:09:55. > :09:59.weather front from the south-west, but not a bad day for us. Spells of

:10:00. > :10:02.sunshine, largely dry, with cloud increasing from the south-west

:10:03. > :10:07.eventually, mainly during the afternoon. Temperatures at best

:10:08. > :10:10.eight or 9 degrees. We will have lighter winds tomorrow from the

:10:11. > :10:14.south-easterly direction. We finished the day largely fine and

:10:15. > :10:18.dry, rain should stay to the rest of us. Wednesday weather dependent on

:10:19. > :10:22.this weather front and where it ends up going. It looks like we'll have

:10:23. > :10:27.fine and dry weather, perhaps on sunshine, and also some rain for a

:10:28. > :10:31.while well. Most of its data the West, but there is a good chance

:10:32. > :10:35.comes over the top of us for a time. Highs of around ten or 11. On

:10:36. > :10:40.Thursday, high pressure in charge, so it will be largely fine and dry.

:10:41. > :10:44.We should get a bit of rain in places, but after it clears we

:10:45. > :10:48.should also get to see some sunshine in places. Temperatures will some of

:10:49. > :10:52.us into double figures. That goes for Friday, too. Largely fine and

:10:53. > :10:56.dry, give or take a few drops of rain. Temperatures into the low 50s

:10:57. > :11:00.Fahrenheit. John has the National forecast in America, I give you the

:11:01. > :11:02.outlook at the weekend it will be mild.

:11:03. > :11:03.Largely dry, perhaps
