:00:00. > :00:00.Hello and welcome to the Look East late news.

:00:00. > :00:11.Shock as three teenagers are killed in a crash in Norfolk.

:00:12. > :00:21.One union says the workers feel betrayed.

:00:22. > :00:25.And temperatures are hotting up for the weekend. Join me later for all

:00:26. > :00:29.the details. First, shock and sadness

:00:30. > :00:33.in a Norfolk village tonight as three teenagers are killed

:00:34. > :00:36.in a crash. The friends were all in the same car

:00:37. > :00:40.late last night when they crashed on Tivetshall Road between the A140

:00:41. > :00:45.and Pulham Market in Norfolk. The road was closed

:00:46. > :00:47.for much of the day. This from our chief

:00:48. > :00:50.reporter Kim Riley. Police cars were posted

:00:51. > :00:53.on all approach roads to the crash scene as the emergency services

:00:54. > :00:58.concentrated on two vital tasks - recovering the three bodies

:00:59. > :01:01.from the mangled wreckage of the car and investigating how and why

:01:02. > :01:05.the teenagers lost their lives. From a distant spot

:01:06. > :01:07.across the fields, we could see the white forensics tent

:01:08. > :01:10.and in their white overalls, Firefighters were using cutting

:01:11. > :01:17.equipment to get access to the car. I would appeal to any members

:01:18. > :01:20.of the public that may have witnessed the collision or seen

:01:21. > :01:25.the manner of driving of the vehicle prior to the collision,

:01:26. > :01:27.if they could contact Norfolk Constabulary serious

:01:28. > :01:31.investigations team on 101, Our main priority today is to work

:01:32. > :01:35.hard for the family. Our thoughts are with the family,

:01:36. > :01:38.their loved ones and friends and communities affected

:01:39. > :01:43.by this tragic incident. In Pulham Market, shock

:01:44. > :01:47.at the grim overnight news. I think it was a tragic

:01:48. > :01:51.loss of young lives and whether that was speed or just

:01:52. > :01:56.a freak accident, An area in the Church of St John

:01:57. > :02:01.the Baptist in Harleston has been set aside for people to grieve

:02:02. > :02:04.and contribute to It is one of those things you do not

:02:05. > :02:11.expect ever to happen and you hope and pray it never happens

:02:12. > :02:14.and unfortunately it has happened and it has

:02:15. > :02:19.happened to three families. I know at least two

:02:20. > :02:22.of them are in this town. This evening, a private ambulance

:02:23. > :02:26.left the scene escorted by a police car as tributes to the dead

:02:27. > :02:31.were posted on social media. This road was finally opened up

:02:32. > :02:35.at about six o'clock this evening, revealing here the blackened

:02:36. > :02:38.trees behind me. That is where the car ended up

:02:39. > :02:42.and burst into flames. The identity of the three,

:02:43. > :02:44.let's try and confirm that, 17-year-old Kyle Warren

:02:45. > :02:53.and 18-year-old Dominic O'Neill Basically, tonight, everyone

:02:54. > :02:59.is saying they died too young and the police

:03:00. > :03:07.investigations are continuing. Suffolk Police are being asked

:03:08. > :03:10.to explain why they took no action about a woman who went missing

:03:11. > :03:14.and was then sexually The woman - who has severe

:03:15. > :03:18.learning difficulties - was reported missing in 2004,

:03:19. > :03:22.but only found in a house The Police and Crime Commissioner

:03:23. > :03:40.for Suffolk says the force has From Suffolk police this morning two

:03:41. > :03:43.reactions- they promise they will discover whether the force fell

:03:44. > :03:50.short and a sense of disbelief at the abuse the victim was forced to

:03:51. > :03:53.enjoy in a property of this estate almost 500 miles from home. I am

:03:54. > :04:01.shocked and appalled at this level of the property. I have never in all

:04:02. > :04:05.my experience come across as barbaric as this and I use the word

:04:06. > :04:12.barbaric properly because that is what it is. For the best part of a

:04:13. > :04:18.decade, Keith Baker and his wife raped and assaulted the victim. It

:04:19. > :04:21.was March 15 2004 that the woman was reported missing by the following

:04:22. > :04:24.day came a call from what appeared to be the woman saying she was on

:04:25. > :04:30.holiday. Eight years later the alarm holiday. Eight years later the alarm

:04:31. > :04:34.was raised. The victim was rescued from Baker's home. He was

:04:35. > :04:39.and sentenced to 15 years in jail. and sentenced to 15 years in jail.

:04:40. > :04:45.His wife was given three years. This woman was so in the seated she only

:04:46. > :04:49.had one to the left and the fact that Suffolk police's remission and

:04:50. > :04:56.failure to properly look at her as a missing woman, the story could have

:04:57. > :05:01.been very different. She may have experienced abuse but not on the

:05:02. > :05:05.scale and 48 years. The investigation into how this force

:05:06. > :05:11.handled the case is likely to be protracted. The passage of time

:05:12. > :05:16.means the records taken needs to be retrieved from storage but the force

:05:17. > :05:20.is adamant, once the facts are established, it will be open in

:05:21. > :05:22.discussing them. It says the priority is making sure lessons are

:05:23. > :05:23.learned. The father of Corrie McKeague has

:05:24. > :05:26.told Look East he will maintain his vigil at a landfill site

:05:27. > :05:29.until his son's body is found. The police have been searching

:05:30. > :05:31.the site in Cambridgeshire They say they are now almost certain

:05:32. > :05:36.he ended up in a bin lorry. Corrie, an airman based in Suffolk,

:05:37. > :05:39.went missing after a night Every time the excavator picks up

:05:40. > :05:48.a load and brings it out, there is every chance that that is the one

:05:49. > :05:54.that could, could have Corrie in it. A father, who's lost his High Court

:05:55. > :05:58.battle over term-time holidays, has called on voters to oust

:05:59. > :06:00.the leader of Suffolk Jon Platt refused to pay a fine

:06:01. > :06:07.imposed by the Isle of Wight council Today, after loosing his

:06:08. > :06:12.case, he singled out Suffolk County Council,

:06:13. > :06:15.which handed out more than 6,000 Katherine Nash is outside

:06:16. > :06:30.the council in Ipswich now. Suffolk County Council has faced

:06:31. > :06:35.this criticism from Jon Platt over the amount of fines issued compared

:06:36. > :06:40.to other councils. The debate as to whether children can take on a date

:06:41. > :06:45.during term time has rumbled on with some parents happy to face the

:06:46. > :06:51.prospect of a find in exchange for a cheaper holiday. After Jon Platt

:06:52. > :06:54.lost his hearing, he turned his attention to Suffolk County Council

:06:55. > :06:56.because of the sheer amount of fines it is issuing.

:06:57. > :06:58.Suffolk issued more penalty notices then any other county

:06:59. > :07:00.in England, 6,000 of them, and that is unacceptable to me.

:07:01. > :07:02.When penalty notices were introduced in 2003,

:07:03. > :07:05.the legislation that enabled penalty notices to be issued was called

:07:06. > :07:10.It said that this was a cheap alternative, a cheap

:07:11. > :07:12.and speedy alternative to prosecution for truancy.

:07:13. > :07:15.If a child's attendance is of 90%, by definition they are not truant,

:07:16. > :07:30.What has the council said? It says it has not changed its position on

:07:31. > :07:34.this matter since the ruling and their children should not be taken

:07:35. > :07:39.out of school without good reason and if they are, they need to be

:07:40. > :07:44.authorised by the headteacher. How do Suffolk compare with elsewhere?

:07:45. > :07:50.Suffolk is ahead in terms of the number of fines it has been issuing,

:07:51. > :07:57.6008 fines last academic year, can bet that you act six Peshmerga

:07:58. > :08:01.Essex. The timing of this legal battle comes as some parents are

:08:02. > :08:05.looking ahead to the summer holidays. The Supreme Court has been

:08:06. > :08:07.clear today in terms of where it stands on this matter.

:08:08. > :08:10.128 jobs are to go at the Norfolk turkey producer Bernard Matthews.

:08:11. > :08:13.The company says it's part of its restructuring process.

:08:14. > :08:16.The Unite union says workers feel betrayed.

:08:17. > :08:18.I asked our business correspondent Richard Bond if it

:08:19. > :08:24.Not entirely because the company warned a couple of months ago that

:08:25. > :08:28.up to 150 jobs were at risk, so the outcome is 128, broadly

:08:29. > :08:32.in line with what we expected, though obviously still a blow

:08:33. > :08:36.What does this mean for Bernard Matthews as a business

:08:37. > :08:39.because it has gone through some very tricky times, hasn't it?

:08:40. > :08:43.We know that Bernard Matthews has been making losses

:08:44. > :08:46.for a number of years, that it went into

:08:47. > :08:54.It was bought out of that by Ranjit Boparan, who is the owner

:08:55. > :08:56.of the Two Sisters group, which is Britain's biggest

:08:57. > :09:00.I think the company basically needs clear and decisive action and it

:09:01. > :09:03.may be getting that now from its new owner.

:09:04. > :09:06.A decision has been made to get out of chicken production

:09:07. > :09:08.at Great Witchingham and to concentrate on Turkey,

:09:09. > :09:13.which obviously is at the heart of what the business does.

:09:14. > :09:17.I think it is significant today what the union Unite had to say.

:09:18. > :09:19.It is obviously disappointed by the number of people

:09:20. > :09:23.losing their jobs, but it says that the company has suffered

:09:24. > :09:26.from a lack of business strategy under its previous owners

:09:27. > :09:30.and that it accepted as a union that difficult decisions have to be made

:09:31. > :09:36.It is almost as if the union is crying out for the company

:09:37. > :09:38.to have clear leadership, to get it pointed again

:09:39. > :09:46.Finally tonight, after weeks of discussions, Stuart Webber has

:09:47. > :09:48.been officially confirmed as the new sporting director

:09:49. > :09:53.He joins from Huddersfield Town, who the Canaries lost

:09:54. > :09:59.His first task will be to find Norwich a new head coach.

:10:00. > :10:03.Coming up now the weather with Alex, but from the rest

:10:04. > :10:17.Good evening. Some fine, spring sunshine today, but temperatures

:10:18. > :10:22.will be warmer by the weekend with a southerly wind. We have clear spas

:10:23. > :10:28.across some of the region but patchy cloud coming and going. Lows of two

:10:29. > :10:33.or three Celsius so the risk of ground frost. High pressure still

:10:34. > :10:38.right across us tomorrow, so we have some fine weather expected. A bright

:10:39. > :10:45.start with good spells of sunshine. Cloudy at times but lots of fine

:10:46. > :10:50.weather through the afternoon and temperatures around 14, 15 degrees,

:10:51. > :10:55.just feeling cooler in that north-westerly breeze but staying

:10:56. > :11:00.fine for the afternoon. We switch our winds to a southerly for the

:11:01. > :11:02.weekend, temperatures climbing with long spells of sunshine.

:11:03. > :11:08.to rise into the weekend. We'll see 22 Celsius on Sunday.

:11:09. > :11:15.Hello. There was some warm sunshine around today, but it's set to get

:11:16. > :11:19.even warmer this weekend. 18 Celsius in London this afternoon. This was

:11:20. > :11:24.the scene in Chiswick, much quieter than it was on Sunday for the boat

:11:25. > :11:27.race. Under the cloud for example here in Cumbria, temperatures

:11:28. > :11:31.struggled to make double figures. Through the night we're going to

:11:32. > :11:33.hang onto a lot of cloud across north-west England, North Wales,

:11:34. > :11:37.Northern Ireland and western Scotland, where there will be a bit

:11:38. > :11:40.of drizzle on the breeze. Zero skies across many southern and eastern

:11:41. > :11:43.parts of England, together with eastern Scotland and in the

:11:44. > :11:47.countryside again, temperatures won't be far away from freezing.

:11:48. > :11:50.Just briefly, at the end of the night, because it will warm up in

:11:51. > :11:54.the sunshine. That's why we have the best of the early sunshine. The

:11:55. > :12:00.cloud will break up across Wales, the Midlands and North West England.

:12:01. > :12:01.We may hang onto more cloud in Northern Ireland and
