:00:17. > :00:27.32 seats up for grabs in the Brexit election. This woman's dog mauled a

:00:28. > :00:29.three-year-old and she will be sentenced. And join me for the

:00:30. > :00:29.forecast. So as we brace ourselves

:00:30. > :00:33.for another general election. Well, let's take a look

:00:34. > :00:40.at the political map for Essex, This was the result two years

:00:41. > :00:49.ago: a sea of blue - 29 Conservative MPs,

:00:50. > :00:51.one Ukip MP in Clacton, one Labour MP in Norwich South

:00:52. > :00:54.and one Liberal Democrat in North So how much will things change this

:00:55. > :00:59.time round and how do voters feel They are calling this the Brexit

:01:00. > :01:06.election and this will be one Norwich was the only place

:01:07. > :01:10.in East Anglia to vote Voters on both sides of the argument

:01:11. > :01:17.still have strong opinions here. I think it would be a chance

:01:18. > :01:22.for people to stand up and have a say and I'm very

:01:23. > :01:24.against Brexit also, so maybe we would be able to put

:01:25. > :01:28.the halt to that as well. I think if she's going to start

:01:29. > :01:31.the process, we do need to get on with it and we need to know

:01:32. > :01:34.where we stand and we need to know what's going

:01:35. > :01:36.to happen for the future. You think she's right

:01:37. > :01:39.to call an election now? Both the anti-Brexit

:01:40. > :01:43.Liberal Democrats and the Greens say they will be closely targeting

:01:44. > :01:46.the seat, but so too will the pro-Brexit Conservatives,

:01:47. > :01:48.because Norwich also has the region's only Labour MP,

:01:49. > :01:50.Clive Lewis, whose party's poor performance nationally is one

:01:51. > :01:52.of the reasons the Prime Minister Mr Lewis, a Remain supporter,

:01:53. > :02:05.is ready for the fight. This is not about the Labour Party,

:02:06. > :02:08.this is about the future of our country, our place

:02:09. > :02:12.in the world, our relationship with Europe, about the fate

:02:13. > :02:14.of Europe in fact, and this is possibly the biggest,

:02:15. > :02:16.most important general Most of the seats in the East

:02:17. > :02:22.are held by the Conservatives. The assumption is that very little

:02:23. > :02:25.will change in this election, but no one can be sure how deeply

:02:26. > :02:31.people still feel about Brexit. Every MP in Suffolk

:02:32. > :02:39.supported Remain last year. They'll now have to explain

:02:40. > :02:41.to voters why they believe And what will happen

:02:42. > :02:44.here in Clacton? Douglas Carswell's defection to Ukip

:02:45. > :02:47.in 2014 brought the EU referendum a step closer,

:02:48. > :02:49.but last month he decided His former party is

:02:50. > :02:55.putting on a brave face. I think Clacton will be fine,

:02:56. > :02:58.I think Ukip will be fine. It's a big jump, lots of things have

:02:59. > :03:04.happened in the last few weeks and people will naturally be looking

:03:05. > :03:07.around to see what to do next. Previous elections have seen

:03:08. > :03:09.the East at the centre This time, a lot of attention

:03:10. > :03:15.will be on other parts of the country, but the votes

:03:16. > :03:18.from here will still play an important part in deciding how

:03:19. > :03:20.the Prime Minister - whoever that is - approaches

:03:21. > :03:26.the forthcoming Brexit negotiations. So, while Labour is left with just

:03:27. > :03:29.one MP in this region, the same is true for the Liberal

:03:30. > :03:33.Democrats. Norman Lamb has represented

:03:34. > :03:35.North Norfolk for 16 Years. His constituency returned one

:03:36. > :03:40.of the country's highest And while Mr Lamb chose

:03:41. > :03:48.to abstain on Article 50. So how much of a fight does

:03:49. > :03:53.Norman Lamb have on his hands? On a sunny day like today,

:03:54. > :03:56.the scenery in North Norfolk Appropriate, in many ways,

:03:57. > :04:01.because in places like Holt, this constituency, which seems to be

:04:02. > :04:03.a straight fight between the Liberal Democrats

:04:04. > :04:05.and the Conservatives, Norman Lamb has been MP

:04:06. > :04:07.here since 2001, but is last summer's Brexit vote a problem

:04:08. > :04:12.for him now? I've been very clear throughout

:04:13. > :04:15.that we must respect and accept What this is about now is the sort

:04:16. > :04:25.of deal that we negotiate. Ann Steward stood for

:04:26. > :04:28.the Conservatives in North Norfolk The Liberal Democrats have made it

:04:29. > :04:33.quite clear that they want to just grind and bring Brexit

:04:34. > :04:35.to a standstill. That's not what this

:04:36. > :04:37.country needs at this time. This is about moving forward

:04:38. > :04:44.with some strong policies. Well, in our unscientific survey,

:04:45. > :04:50.most people in Holt tonight Do you think Norman Lamb has

:04:51. > :04:54.a fight on his hands? The fact is that we voted

:04:55. > :04:58.to be out of Europe, It'll be a good job

:04:59. > :05:06.when we are out of that We don't want other people

:05:07. > :05:16.telling us what to do. Paul Whitely, a polling expert

:05:17. > :05:21.from Essex University, believes other issues may

:05:22. > :05:24.play a part. There's a real crisis as we know

:05:25. > :05:30.in our community in the NHS and in social care and Norman Lamb

:05:31. > :05:33.has played a prominent part in the past on the health policy

:05:34. > :05:36.area, and people worry about that. 24 hours ago, the regulars

:05:37. > :05:39.at the Holt Fish Bar only had to worry about what to have

:05:40. > :05:41.for their tea. Now, there's another important

:05:42. > :05:56.political decision to be made. Our political correspondent

:05:57. > :06:07.Andrew Sinclair joins me now. Is it is true to say that Brexit is

:06:08. > :06:10.think it will. I've spoken to some think it will. I've spoken to some

:06:11. > :06:14.MPs today who have told me they are looking forward to fighting on the

:06:15. > :06:18.local record of getting more homes for the constituency or money free

:06:19. > :06:21.transport scheme. In normal circumstances those would be

:06:22. > :06:27.imported election issues. The future of grammar schools will be big

:06:28. > :06:31.issues in this area but I think it will be the Brexit election as you

:06:32. > :06:36.said. Brexit will have a big impact in the street in particular it comes

:06:37. > :06:41.to things like science, farming, fishing -- a big impact in this

:06:42. > :06:45.region. Now all parties will be able to lay out their vision of how they

:06:46. > :06:51.feel all these sectors will fare under their policies. the

:06:52. > :06:57.Conservatives hold most of the seats in this region. 60% between Suffolk,

:06:58. > :06:59.Norfolk and Essex voted to leave but watch the Liberal Democrats. They

:07:00. > :07:03.used to be the main party of opposition in the east and they feel

:07:04. > :07:08.their anti-Brexit stance could stand them in good stead. . Labour are the

:07:09. > :07:12.main party of opposition and should be making inroads in this region

:07:13. > :07:15.now. No sign of that at the moment but things could change. Ukip on the

:07:16. > :07:20.greens have made a name for themselves in the past and is the

:07:21. > :07:26.danger could get squeezed in this. Local elections as far as we know

:07:27. > :07:30.will continue as planned on May the 4th. After that, the general

:07:31. > :07:31.election campaign starts for real. And Andrew will be reporting live

:07:32. > :07:34.from Westminster tomorrow with more on Look East at 6:30pm and,

:07:35. > :07:39.of course, of this programme. A woman whose bulldog attacked

:07:40. > :07:42.and killed a three-year-old boy in Essex has pleaded guilty

:07:43. > :07:48.to owning a dangerous animal. Dexter Neal died following

:07:49. > :07:50.the attack at Jade Dunne's house Jade Dunne, whose dangerous

:07:51. > :08:00.American bulldog mauled Dexter Neal was three

:08:01. > :08:05.when he was attacked in Jade Dunne's garden in Parker Way in Halstead

:08:06. > :08:08.on August 18 last year. Neighbours were

:08:09. > :08:10.alerted by screaming. I could hear a man doing

:08:11. > :08:17.chest compressions. It was just terrible,

:08:18. > :08:23.seeing everything going on. Magistrates heard how Dexter had

:08:24. > :08:36.gone around to the house to play. They also heard how

:08:37. > :08:41.he was frightened of the dog, which, on the day of the attack,

:08:42. > :08:45.had been let out of a room As Dexter passed the dog,

:08:46. > :08:49.it growled at him and then attacked, baiting the back of his head

:08:50. > :08:51.and his neck. Neighbours tried to save Dexter,

:08:52. > :08:54.who suffered several cardiac An air ambulance was called,

:08:55. > :09:02.which took him to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge,

:09:03. > :09:04.but his life couldn't be saved. The court heard the American

:09:05. > :09:09.Bulldog, similar to this one, had been involved in several

:09:10. > :09:12.incidents including one where it Today, Jade Dunne pleaded guilty

:09:13. > :09:15.to owning a dog that was dangerously out of control and causing injury

:09:16. > :09:18.resulting in Dexter's death. She'll be sentenced at

:09:19. > :09:26.Chelmsford Crown Court next month. Two people have been arrested

:09:27. > :09:28.following a shooting at a travellers site in Wickford in Essex

:09:29. > :09:31.in which a man was killed A postmortem examination showed

:09:32. > :09:35.Hugh Doherty, who was 45, died as a result of a gunshot wound

:09:36. > :09:41.to the chest. Three people were arrested

:09:42. > :09:43.at the weekend during an unofficial The bikers defied warnings not

:09:44. > :09:52.to attend the annual event. The Borough Council is coming under

:09:53. > :09:54.more pressure to control Coming up now, the weather

:09:55. > :10:11.with Alex, but, from the rest Thank you very much. Good evening.

:10:12. > :10:14.Some fine weather this week and getting warmer as the week

:10:15. > :10:17.progresses but there will be some chilly nights and tonight,

:10:18. > :10:20.temperatures could drop below freezing, bringing us a frost in

:10:21. > :10:23.tomorrow so it's a chilly start to tomorrow so it's a chilly start to

:10:24. > :10:26.the day but high pressure is still keeping things settled on a

:10:27. > :10:31.settlement for the rest of the week and into the next weekend, so some

:10:32. > :10:35.sunshine around first thing. It will be a little bit cooler on the coast

:10:36. > :10:41.but generally, temperatures could be up a degree or two on weather God to

:10:42. > :10:44.today, 1112 Celsius with the light, variable wind. There will be some

:10:45. > :10:47.sunshine for the afternoon but just a bit more cloud feeding in in the

:10:48. > :10:50.afternoon so it might cloud over afternoon so it might cloud over

:10:51. > :10:57.into the afternoon. The national forecast is coming up. Either the

:10:58. > :10:59.out look, it looks generally cloudy but with temperatures climbing,

:11:00. > :11:00.still chilly at night and
