:00:13. > :00:14.despite a report which found no evidence of misconduct.

:00:15. > :00:19.Hundreds spill on to the streets to remember a teenager killed

:00:20. > :00:28.And the risk of a frost tonight with further wintry showers. Join us

:00:29. > :00:33.later with all the details. The chief fire officer of Essex

:00:34. > :00:38.has been sacked today David Johnson was suspended two

:00:39. > :00:42.years ago, a suspension that has A previous report seemed to show no

:00:43. > :00:51.evidence of misconduct. After two years of being suspended

:00:52. > :00:58.from his position of chief fire officer on full pay,

:00:59. > :01:04.David Johnson has today been sacked. It was only last year

:01:05. > :01:07.there was criticism over how much time and money the Fire Service

:01:08. > :01:09.was spending investigating The cost of a fully

:01:10. > :01:14.crewed fire appliance I'm guessing that is about

:01:15. > :01:21.the region they have spent on this. You could have funded a fire

:01:22. > :01:25.appliance to protect the communities of Essex somewhere for the same

:01:26. > :01:29.money that they have pretty much wasted on prevaricating and not

:01:30. > :01:31.carrying out the investigation in what should've been

:01:32. > :01:33.a timely fashion. Among the allegations,

:01:34. > :01:37.David Johnson was accused of booking luxury instead of budget

:01:38. > :01:39.accommodation for a conference, and failing to give enough notice

:01:40. > :01:42.to book annual leave. In January this year,

:01:43. > :01:46.the BBC contained a confidential report which appeared to clear him

:01:47. > :01:50.of any wrongdoing. Over the last two years,

:01:51. > :01:53.the fire authority has been reluctant to comment,

:01:54. > :01:55.saying it didn't want to hinder Tonight, the Fire Officers

:01:56. > :02:03.Association says it is disappointed both with how long David Johnson's

:02:04. > :02:19.case has taken and with its outcome. We do not actually know and it seems

:02:20. > :02:22.the one else knows, they will not tell us. The report in January

:02:23. > :02:26.showed Mr Johnson faced 11 allegations at the time but there

:02:27. > :02:31.was no evidence at the time also of misconduct or gross misconduct.

:02:32. > :02:34.Since then, there has been a disciplinary process. Tonight, the

:02:35. > :02:40.chairman of the Essex fire for the take, Anthony Hedley, has said that

:02:41. > :02:45.process was very robust. -- the Essex Fire authority. The statement

:02:46. > :02:46.says David Johnson has been dismissed with immediate effect, but

:02:47. > :02:48.no reason for the sacking. Any news from Mr Johnson

:02:49. > :02:58.regarding his sacking? He has not said anything, but his

:02:59. > :03:04.spokesman said he has had confirmation of the dismissal. His

:03:05. > :03:07.next action is to go for legal action.

:03:08. > :03:09.Next tonight, an alleged computer hacker from Suffolk has been given

:03:10. > :03:11.permission to appeal against his extradition

:03:12. > :03:14.Lauri Love, who's 32 and has Asperger's syndrome,

:03:15. > :03:18.is accused of stealing top-secret data from US agencies.

:03:19. > :03:22.There have been many lows along the way for

:03:23. > :03:25.Lauri Love in this protracted battle against extradition.

:03:26. > :03:28.This was one of them last September, their argument failing

:03:29. > :03:33.I could feel the disappointment and frustration...

:03:34. > :03:40.After Home Secretary Amber Rudd's signature gave approval

:03:41. > :03:45.Lauri Love's legal team wasted no time in lodging

:03:46. > :03:49.an appeal to the High Court, and today they learned it would be

:03:50. > :03:54.And tonight at the family home, he told me it was a positive moment.

:03:55. > :04:01.They said this case raises issues of great importance,

:04:02. > :04:03.and furthermore they have allowed Liberty to intervene,

:04:04. > :04:07.It is not just about my future but it is about the general

:04:08. > :04:10.principle that the UK law should be sufficient to prosecute crimes

:04:11. > :04:17.He is accused of hacking the computers of top-level

:04:18. > :04:19.organisations such as the Federal Reserve, the FBI, and Nasa.

:04:20. > :04:22.It is alleged it happened in 2012 and 2013.

:04:23. > :04:25.If convicted, the potential jail term could run

:04:26. > :04:29.There are various grounds in relation to Lauri's appeal,

:04:30. > :04:34.and he has been granted permission on all of the grounds.

:04:35. > :04:38.Certainly one of them is his Asperger's.

:04:39. > :04:42.But most in particular to Asperger's around how he would be treated

:04:43. > :04:49.While he believes extradition to the States would be wholly wrong,

:04:50. > :04:56.In fact, he says he would welcome it as long as it is on UK soil,

:04:57. > :05:05.so he could put his case won several.

:05:06. > :05:08.Hundreds of people spilled onto the streets of a small market

:05:09. > :05:11.town in Norfolk today for the funeral of a teenager killed

:05:12. > :05:14.Kyle Warren, who was 17, died with Billy Hines

:05:15. > :05:17.and Dominic O'Neill when the car they were in came off the road

:05:18. > :05:26.Today, a convoy of lorries carried his coffin to the church.

:05:27. > :05:29.At 11am, the town of Harleston came to a standstill,

:05:30. > :05:34.as father and son made one last journey together.

:05:35. > :05:36.Followed by a convoy of lorries from his haulage company,

:05:37. > :05:39.Daniel Warren took his 17-year-old son's coffin to St John

:05:40. > :05:51.The Banger Racer theme tune played as his coffin was carried inside.

:05:52. > :06:03.The church is currently full of some of Kyle's friends and family,

:06:04. > :06:06.of course, but if you look behind me, 70, 80 people have

:06:07. > :06:09.decided to stand outside the church to not only listen to the service

:06:10. > :06:16.but to listen to some of Kyle's favourite tracks.

:06:17. > :06:19.Kyle died with two of his friends, 16-year-old Billy Hines

:06:20. > :06:21.and 18-year-old Dominic O'Neill, when the Black Ford KA

:06:22. > :06:24.they were travelling in came off the road and hit a tree

:06:25. > :06:37.As a former Archbishop Sancroft High School student,

:06:38. > :06:40.it is not just friends and family who will miss him.

:06:41. > :06:45.We have only 370 students, so it is really like a big family.

:06:46. > :06:48.So when we lose three, we lose a big part of our community.

:06:49. > :06:54.Today, a fitting send-off for a student, friend, brother, and son.

:06:55. > :07:00.Leigh Milner reporting from Kyle Warren's funeral.

:07:01. > :07:02.Election news now, and before the general election

:07:03. > :07:04.on June the 8th, we've got the County Council

:07:05. > :07:10.Simon Dedman has the first in a series of reports on what these

:07:11. > :07:24.Essex County Council's new rules on subsidised school buses mean that

:07:25. > :07:27.you have to live over three miles from the nearest secondary

:07:28. > :07:33.They could still take the bus but Mum would have

:07:34. > :07:37.Why do they have to make these changes?

:07:38. > :07:39.I think it is to make money for them.

:07:40. > :07:46.The County Council say it is to save money in this era

:07:47. > :07:50.But then they have raised the council tax but we still have

:07:51. > :07:54.I will be looking at whose policies will be talking

:07:55. > :08:05.The reality is we provide free transport to the nearest school.

:08:06. > :08:09.If you choose to go to a different school, that is your choice.

:08:10. > :08:13.But as with all choice, there are consequences.

:08:14. > :08:19.We believe that all school transport ought to be funded

:08:20. > :08:21.by the County Council, because in rural areas,

:08:22. > :08:33.You cannot help where the school places happen to be.

:08:34. > :08:35.We would reinstate free school transport to catchment schools

:08:36. > :08:39.but we want to go for than that and actually bring in free bus

:08:40. > :08:44.And we want to see the cycling strategy implemented

:08:45. > :08:50.so that we have a holistic policy on transport to schools.

:08:51. > :08:53.Ukip doesn't actually have a policy as far as school

:08:54. > :08:57.We have a policy as far as grammar schools are concerned,

:08:58. > :09:00.but my own personal take on it is that no child should be

:09:01. > :09:04.disadvantaged in their education by virtue of the fact that they live

:09:05. > :09:14.too far from school to be able to get there reasonably on their own.

:09:15. > :09:17.We want to make it much more easy and accessible forbearance

:09:18. > :09:25.to get their children to school safely.

:09:26. > :09:27.That means both having the public transport,

:09:28. > :09:29.the buses and trains available when they need them,

:09:30. > :09:35.but also making safe walking and cycling routes.

:09:36. > :09:37.Particularly in rural areas, it is simply not safe.

:09:38. > :09:39.Over the past four years, the Conservative administration

:09:40. > :09:41.is effectively said, ask not what Essex County

:09:42. > :09:44.Council can do for you, but what you can do for yourself.

:09:45. > :09:47.In return, it has offered one of the lowest council tax rates

:09:48. > :09:55.But they have had to make half a billion pounds worth of savings

:09:56. > :09:57.and those savings have led to cuts, including to school

:09:58. > :10:01.Voters like Lisa are weighing up the quality of County Council

:10:02. > :10:05.In just over a week, it is make your mind up time.

:10:06. > :10:13.Coming up now, the weather with Alex.

:10:14. > :10:19.Good evening. The wintry flavour to weather continues in the next few

:10:20. > :10:23.days. We have wintry showers across the region at the moment. Reports of

:10:24. > :10:28.some hailstones and sleet mixed in. You could wake up to a dusting of

:10:29. > :10:30.snow first thing tomorrow morning. With clear spells as well, we will

:10:31. > :10:36.record temperatures down to freezing, if not below. Widespread

:10:37. > :10:41.frost and the risk of icy patches to start tomorrow. A similar pattern

:10:42. > :10:43.through tomorrow. There is a keen north-westerly wind and this weather

:10:44. > :10:49.feature is close by, bringing showers in from the North Sea. It

:10:50. > :10:57.will be quite widespread through the day and sunshine in between. A risk

:10:58. > :10:59.of sleet and hailstones. In the northerly wind, it will feel

:11:00. > :11:01.bitterly cold. The national weather is coming up but here is the

:11:02. > :11:12.outlook. On Thursday, slightly Good evening. Another cold night

:11:13. > :11:18.lies ahead after what was a chilly day for swathes of the UK. This is

:11:19. > :11:19.the Highlands of Scotland. 25th of April and lying
