:01:08. > :01:09.was spending investigating The cost of a fully
:01:10. > :01:14.crewed fire appliance I'm guessing that is about
:01:15. > :01:21.the region they have spent on this. You could have funded a fire
:01:22. > :01:25.appliance to protect the communities of Essex somewhere for the same
:01:26. > :01:29.money that they have pretty much wasted on prevaricating and not
:01:30. > :01:31.carrying out the investigation in what should've been
:01:32. > :01:33.a timely fashion. Among the allegations,
:01:34. > :01:37.David Johnson was accused of booking luxury instead of budget
:01:38. > :01:39.accommodation for a conference, and failing to give enough notice
:01:40. > :01:42.to book annual leave. In January this year,
:01:43. > :01:46.the BBC contained a confidential report which appeared to clear him
:01:47. > :01:50.of any wrongdoing. Over the last two years,
:01:51. > :01:53.the fire authority has been reluctant to comment,
:01:54. > :01:55.saying it didn't want to hinder Tonight, the Fire Officers
:01:56. > :02:03.Association says it is disappointed both with how long David Johnson's
:02:04. > :02:19.case has taken and with its outcome. We do not actually know and it seems
:02:20. > :02:22.the one else knows, they will not tell us. The report in January
:02:23. > :02:26.showed Mr Johnson faced 11 allegations at the time but there
:02:27. > :02:31.was no evidence at the time also of misconduct or gross misconduct.
:02:32. > :02:34.Since then, there has been a disciplinary process. Tonight, the
:02:35. > :02:40.chairman of the Essex fire for the take, Anthony Hedley, has said that
:02:41. > :02:45.process was very robust. -- the Essex Fire authority. The statement
:02:46. > :02:46.says David Johnson has been dismissed with immediate effect, but
:02:47. > :02:48.no reason for the sacking. Any news from Mr Johnson

:02:59. > :03:04.spokesman said he has had confirmation of the dismissal. His
:03:05. > :03:07.next action is to go for legal action.
:03:08. > :03:09.Next tonight, an alleged computer hacker from Suffolk has been given
:03:10. > :03:11.permission to appeal against his extradition
:03:12. > :03:14.Lauri Love, who's 32 and has Asperger's syndrome,
:03:15. > :03:18.is accused of stealing top-secret data from US agencies.
:03:19. > :03:22.There have been many lows along the way for
:03:23. > :03:25.Lauri Love in this protracted battle against extradition.
:03:26. > :03:28.This was one of them last September, their argument failing

:03:41. > :03:45.Lauri Love's legal team wasted no time in lodging
:03:46. > :03:49.an appeal to the High Court, and today they learned it would be
:03:50. > :03:54.And tonight at the family home, he told me it was a positive moment.
:03:55. > :04:01.They said this case raises issues of great importance,
:04:02. > :04:03.and furthermore they have allowed Liberty to intervene,
:04:04. > :04:07.It is not just about my future but it is about the general
:04:08. > :04:10.principle that the UK law should be sufficient to prosecute crimes
:04:11. > :04:17.He is accused of hacking the computers of top-level
:04:18. > :04:19.organisations such as the Federal Reserve, the FBI, and Nasa.
:04:20. > :04:22.It is alleged it happened in 2012 and 2013.
:04:23. > :04:25.If convicted, the potential jail term could run
:04:26. > :04:29.There are various grounds in relation to Lauri's appeal,
:04:30. > :04:34.and he has been granted permission on all of the grounds.
:04:35. > :04:38.Certainly one of them is his Asperger's.
:04:39. > :04:42.But most in particular to Asperger's around how he would be treated
:04:43. > :04:49.While he believes extradition to the States would be wholly wrong,
:04:50. > :04:56.In fact, he says he would welcome it as long as it is on UK soil,
:04:57. > :05:05.so he could put his case won several.

:07:40. > :07:46.The County Council say it is to save money in this era
:07:47. > :07:50.But then they have raised the council tax but we still have
:07:51. > :07:54.I will be looking at whose policies will be talking
:07:55. > :08:05.The reality is we provide free transport to the nearest school.
:08:06. > :08:09.If you choose to go to a different school, that is your choice.
:08:10. > :08:13.But as with all choice, there are consequences.
:08:14. > :08:19.We believe that all school transport ought to be funded
:08:20. > :08:21.by the County Council, because in rural areas,
:08:22. > :08:33.You cannot help where the school places happen to be.
:08:34. > :08:35.We would reinstate free school transport to catchment schools
:08:36. > :08:39.but we want to go for than that and actually bring in free bus
:08:40. > :08:44.And we want to see the cycling strategy implemented
:08:45. > :08:50.so that we have a holistic policy on transport to schools.
:08:51. > :08:53.Ukip doesn't actually have a policy as far as school
:08:54. > :08:57.We have a policy as far as grammar schools are concerned,
:08:58. > :09:00.but my own personal take on it is that no child should be
:09:01. > :09:04.disadvantaged in their education by virtue of the fact that they live
:09:05. > :09:14.too far from school to be able to get there reasonably on their own.
:09:15. > :09:17.We want to make it much more easy and accessible forbearance
:09:18. > :09:25.to get their children to school safely.
:09:26. > :09:27.That means both having the public transport,
:09:28. > :09:29.the buses and trains available when they need them,
:09:30. > :09:35.but also making safe walking and cycling routes.
:09:36. > :09:37.Particularly in rural areas, it is simply not safe.
:09:38. > :09:39.Over the past four years, the Conservative administration
:09:40. > :09:41.is effectively said, ask not what Essex County
:09:42. > :09:44.Council can do for you, but what you can do for yourself.
:09:45. > :09:47.In return, it has offered one of the lowest council tax rates
:09:48. > :09:55.But they have had to make half a billion pounds worth of savings
:09:56. > :09:57.and those savings have led to cuts, including to school
:09:58. > :10:01.Voters like Lisa are weighing up the quality of County Council
