:00:00. > :00:00.Hello and welcome to the Look East late news.

:00:07. > :00:09.The Prime Minister in Norwich to kickstart her campaign.

:00:10. > :00:13.the Chief Constable calling for internet companies to help

:00:14. > :00:18.And after a fairly miserable Monday, I will be here

:00:19. > :00:31.with your weather for the week ahead.

:00:32. > :00:34.The Prime Minister Theresa May came to Norwich today on what's

:00:35. > :00:36.being seen as the first day of proper campaigning

:00:37. > :00:46.It's the only place in Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk

:00:47. > :00:49.and a city without a single Conservative councillor.

:00:50. > :00:51.It's also the only place in the region

:00:52. > :00:53.which voted Remain in the EU referendum last year.

:00:54. > :00:57.Our political correspondent Andrew Sinclair reports.

:00:58. > :00:59.The Prime Minister at the Norwich Aviation Academy this afternoon.

:01:00. > :01:03.Just opened, it's a new type of training facility,

:01:04. > :01:09.teaching young people how to be aviation mechanics.

:01:10. > :01:12.So, James, what can we see about the lift formula with this?

:01:13. > :01:14.In a classroom, she sat in on a lesson

:01:15. > :01:17.about aerodynamics and appeared to follow what they were talking about.

:01:18. > :01:20.Mrs May said this sort of place shows that we can

:01:21. > :01:23.make a success of Brexit because we're developing our own

:01:24. > :01:28.The enthusiasm of the young people shows

:01:29. > :01:31.that this, I think, is going to be great both in ensuring they have

:01:32. > :01:34.got the skills needed for the jobs of the future but also

:01:35. > :01:36.we're developing the economy of the future.

:01:37. > :01:39.Creating the jobs for the future is one thing but Norwich was

:01:40. > :01:43.a Remain city and there are a lot of people at this airport and in

:01:44. > :01:45.businesses in this part of the world who are worried

:01:46. > :01:47.that Brexit and leaving the single market will

:01:48. > :01:54.What we want to do is to ensure that we get the best possible

:01:55. > :01:56.deal on our Brexit negotiations, the best possible deal of our

:01:57. > :01:58.relationship of the future with the European Union.

:01:59. > :02:01.I want that to be a deep and special partnership.

:02:02. > :02:05.We're looking for a comprehensive free trade agreement.

:02:06. > :02:08.I want to ensure that their jobs here and across the

:02:09. > :02:21.This is not the easiest of all places for a

:02:22. > :02:22.Conservative Prime Minister to campaign.

:02:23. > :02:24.Norfolk itself is very Conservative and Brexit-supporting

:02:25. > :02:26.but Norwich recorded a big Remain vote and there are no Conservative

:02:27. > :02:30.Norwich North is held by the Tories with a small majority.

:02:31. > :02:32.While the other seat, Norwich South, is

:02:33. > :02:36.comfortably held by Labour and there they are concerns about Brexit.

:02:37. > :02:37.Lots of our residents from the European Union

:02:38. > :02:43.and elsewhere in Norwich who are making a tremendous contribution to

:02:44. > :02:47.the local economy, bringing with them their skills and those

:02:48. > :02:49.are the sorts of things which I am a bit worried

:02:50. > :02:53.about because if the Prime Minister is going for a hard Brexit,

:02:54. > :03:00.I think that jeopardises our growing economy.

:03:01. > :03:04.The Prime Minister was in the Conservative and Brexit friendly

:03:05. > :03:08.But she knows that if she wants to show that

:03:09. > :03:10.she can unite the country post-Brexit, she needs

:03:11. > :03:13.to start winning support from the whole of Norwich.

:03:14. > :03:21.So day one of the campaign proper, but why choose Norwich?

:03:22. > :03:30.The Conservatives have very large majorities across all of East Anglia

:03:31. > :03:34.but there are some exceptions and Norwich North is one of them.

:03:35. > :03:39.Chloe Smith holds the seat at the moment

:03:40. > :03:44.And I am told the Prime Minister has a bit of a soft spot

:03:45. > :03:46.for Norwich North because she ran the Conservative's successful

:03:47. > :03:48.by-election campaign there back in 2009.

:03:49. > :03:51.Chloe Smith has been on maternity leave

:03:52. > :03:57.for much of last year and hasn't been seen much and she wanted

:03:58. > :04:01.The other reason I am told is that the Tories

:04:02. > :04:04.have got their eyes on the next door seat of Norwich South.

:04:05. > :04:05.Yes, it's got a large Labour majority.

:04:06. > :04:07.Clive Lewis holds it with the majority of

:04:08. > :04:11.more than 7500 but the Conservatives have said to me that they believe

:04:12. > :04:14.with a fair wind, they reckon they could take that seat and in doing

:04:15. > :04:18.so, take out a big beast of Labour, Clive Lewis is seen as a future

:04:19. > :04:20.leadership contender, but also take a Remain city

:04:21. > :04:28.and to be able to take a Remain seat in this so-called Brexit election,

:04:29. > :04:29.they think would send a very powerful signal.

:04:30. > :04:31.So, Jeremy Corbyn has been to the region.

:04:32. > :04:33.We've had the Prime Minister here today.

:04:34. > :04:39.Party strategists in both the main parties are saying to

:04:40. > :04:42.me that actually in this election, the main battle grounds are the

:04:43. > :04:44.Midlands and the north of England, that's where all

:04:45. > :04:48.That is where most of the visits are being planned.

:04:49. > :04:50.Yes, we do have our own battle grounds, the two

:04:51. > :04:53.Norwich seats, North Norfolk as well is on many people's list,

:04:54. > :04:57.But on the whole, most of the attention in this election

:04:58. > :05:00.It's going to be in other parts of the country.

:05:01. > :05:04.And throughout the general election campaign,

:05:05. > :05:08.we want to hear from you, whether it's a question for a candidate

:05:09. > :05:12.or a strong opinion on what's important to you.

:05:13. > :05:13.We're calling it hashtag "getsmyvote".

:05:14. > :05:19.You can contact us on email, Facebook

:05:20. > :05:31.Next tonight: Why the Chief Constable of Norfolk

:05:32. > :05:33.says internet companies like Facebook and Google hold

:05:34. > :05:36.the key to stopping people from viewing images of child

:05:37. > :05:40.on the day the region's police forces came together

:05:41. > :05:45.I always thought that, one day, I would get that knock on the door.

:05:46. > :05:48.The words as said by actors, originally spoken by offenders.

:05:49. > :05:51.I didn't consider the full effect this had had on my wife.

:05:52. > :05:54.This is a video made by The Lucy Faithfull Foundation to help

:05:55. > :06:05.Simon Bailey, the Chief Constable of Norfolk Police, is in charge of

:06:06. > :06:09.He has launched Operation Net Safe to tackle what he describes

:06:10. > :06:13.The police service across the United Kingdom is

:06:14. > :06:19.We are safeguarding over 500 children every month.

:06:20. > :06:22.Whilst we are doing more than any other country

:06:23. > :06:23.in the world within this field,

:06:24. > :06:25.we simply cannot arrest our way out of it.

:06:26. > :06:27.Police forces across our region are dealing with an

:06:28. > :06:30.unprecedented number of reports about child sexual abuse

:06:31. > :06:34.This is the Norfolk Police control room where

:06:35. > :06:38.they take calls from those who've been abused.

:06:39. > :06:40.Interestingly, in the last year, The Lucy Faithfull Foundation

:06:41. > :06:44.has taken more than 1800 calls from those living in the east

:06:45. > :06:48.who are concerned about their own behaviour online.

:06:49. > :06:51.Chief Constable Simon Bailey believes this crime

:06:52. > :06:53.will only be stopped if the internet companies make it impossible

:06:54. > :06:59.The police service alone simply cannot deal with this.

:07:00. > :07:04.But the tech companies hold the key here.

:07:05. > :07:14.Tonight, a spokesman for Facebook says...

:07:15. > :07:16.Google hasn't yet been available for comment.

:07:17. > :07:23.The police search for the missing airman Corrie Mckeague is now

:07:24. > :07:27.And so far there has been no sign of him.

:07:28. > :07:30.Teams began searching a landfill site near Cambridge back in March

:07:31. > :07:33.where it's thought his body may have been deposited there

:07:34. > :07:37.after vanishing during a night out in Bury St Edmunds last September.

:07:38. > :07:39.Let's get the latest from the search site now

:07:40. > :07:52.standing on this landfill by me with standing on this landfill by me with

:07:53. > :07:54.the police and the showed me that they were confident they were

:07:55. > :07:59.looking in the right place. Here we are into the last scheduled week of

:08:00. > :08:02.the ten week search. What have the police got to show Fred? They have

:08:03. > :08:06.found artefacts, small things that beat to the time that Corrie

:08:07. > :08:09.directly links it to Corrie Mckeague directly links it to Corrie Mckeague

:08:10. > :08:13.or the bin that he reportedly ended up in. Of course every investigation

:08:14. > :08:18.is only good as the information that is only good as the information that

:08:19. > :08:21.is fed into it and that is why a few days ago Corrie Mckeague's mother

:08:22. > :08:22.Nicola was worried, she told me the police were not searching in the

:08:23. > :08:25.right place. I do believe Corrie

:08:26. > :08:27.is in the landfill. That is my concern,

:08:28. > :08:32.that he might not be in that cell. I know the police are rechecking

:08:33. > :08:36.and rechecking constantly. I keep trying to think,

:08:37. > :08:54.we're talking about it constantly, Police say we should take this on a

:08:55. > :08:58.day by day basis. They finished the search of the cell itself. They are

:08:59. > :09:03.now searching the outer edges, the entrants in case about vital waste

:09:04. > :09:06.may have drifted out of the cell. As for the time frame, that could take

:09:07. > :09:08.several more days. It could end at the end of this week or it may

:09:09. > :09:13.extend into next week. Let's bear in extend into next week. Let's bear in

:09:14. > :09:18.mind that this investigation has so far, all through the seven months,

:09:19. > :09:21.cost ?1 million. So far, there is precious little to show Fred.

:09:22. > :09:24.Thank you very much, Alex. Finally tonight an author

:09:25. > :09:26.from Essex has won Book of the Year at this evening's

:09:27. > :09:28.British Book Awards. Sarah Perry's

:09:29. > :09:30.book, The Essex Serpent, is a gothic tale set in the 1890s

:09:31. > :09:33.and inspired by a local legend. It also won the Fiction Book

:09:34. > :09:36.of the Year award in an event that That's all from me,

:09:37. > :09:39.the weather now with Julie. But from the rest of

:09:40. > :09:49.the late team, goodnight. Thank you. Overnight tonight, I

:09:50. > :09:54.think most of us will be fine and dry. A little bit of light rain and

:09:55. > :09:58.drizzle. We can have some clear spells. That will affect the

:09:59. > :10:02.temperature. These are the expected lows. Under the clear skies, three

:10:03. > :10:07.Celsius. A touch of frost perhaps. Most of us, a frost free night.

:10:08. > :10:09.Cloud seeding down from the north. Perhaps a little bit patchy rain but

:10:10. > :10:13.a dry day for most of us. a dry day for most of us.

:10:14. > :10:18.Temperatures slightly higher than today under the Bekaa, 12 or 13

:10:19. > :10:20.through, around 15 Celsius. That is through, around 15 Celsius. That is

:10:21. > :10:22.Tuesday. Joy into the day. Tuesday. Joy into the day.

:10:23. > :10:26.Wednesday, high pressure in charge Wednesday, high pressure in charge

:10:27. > :10:30.and a much better chance of because breaking up allowing some decent

:10:31. > :10:34.sunny spells. That will have an effect on the temperatures. I think

:10:35. > :10:39.possibly up to 70,000 in the best of possibly up to 70,000 in the best of

:10:40. > :10:42.the sunshine. Then towards the end of the week, the weather dependent

:10:43. > :10:47.on the movement of this weather front. Now, at the moment it looks

:10:48. > :10:50.like Thursday will be largely fine and dry with some spells of

:10:51. > :10:54.sunshine. Although eventually cloud thickening from the start with

:10:55. > :10:58.outbreaks of rain. Friday is when we are expecting the main band of rain

:10:59. > :10:59.to move on through. In a moment, the national focus but here's the

:11:00. > :11:04.outlook for next weekend. Sunny with some sunshine and showers, it

:11:05. > :11:08.will become drier and feel warm. Now the National forecast.

:11:09. > :11:17.Good evening. A quiet day on the weather front but we still managed

:11:18. > :11:21.to have some huge contrasts in the weather. This was a beautiful

:11:22. > :11:29.picture from Cumbria, blue skies and crystal clear blue skies in Argyll

:11:30. > :11:33.and Bute but closer to the north coast, it sends shivers down your

:11:34. > :11:38.spine! Chilly and cloudy all along that cost this bank of cloud that

:11:39. > :11:44.sliced the country in half, cool and cloudy to the east and to the West

:11:45. > :11:49.had sunshine. But it still been dry and it will stay that way for most

:11:50. > :11:54.of the week. As we get into Friday, there is some rain on the way. In

:11:55. > :11:58.the short-term, not much happening in the next few hours, quite a bit

:11:59. > :12:02.of cloud in most of England and Wales but many northern and western

:12:03. > :12:04.parts, the stars are out. Temperatures not
