:00:12. > :00:17.Welcome to Look North. The headlines... Warnings for lorry-

:00:17. > :00:23.drivers and garages as fuel theft rises across the area. It has gone

:00:23. > :00:27.up nationally about 40 % in the past two or three years. Still to

:00:27. > :00:33.be identified. The body of a woman found on the Queen's Sandringham

:00:33. > :00:39.estate on New Year's Day. Opened again in Lincoln. The new look of

:00:39. > :00:45.Siemens is described as a vote of confidence. Grantham's reaction to

:00:45. > :00:50.the town's most famous daughter. As the government promises a satnav

:00:50. > :01:00.summit we find out where they are going wrong in the area. I am back

:01:00. > :01:05.

:01:05. > :01:09.in 15 minutes with your detailed Good evening. It is a crime which

:01:09. > :01:14.is increasing in the area and a lorry drivers and garages are being

:01:14. > :01:18.warned to be on their guard against the risk of fuel theft. Almost 2000

:01:18. > :01:24.cases were reported to Humberside and Lincolnshire police last year,

:01:24. > :01:30.including a recent series of more than he doesn't thefts in one week.

:01:30. > :01:34.That was in North Lincolnshire alone. -- 12 thefts. High petrol

:01:34. > :01:39.prices are putting a strain on finances but it appears some people

:01:39. > :01:47.are getting round them up by targeting garages like this one and

:01:47. > :01:52.stealing deal instead. Declined on top of the tank and got the lid

:01:52. > :01:56.open and got into the tank and pumped the fuel out into the back

:01:56. > :02:02.of a down. That is how they got away with 4,000 litres in about 45

:02:02. > :02:09.minutes. David Craven Jones runs 12 carriages in the how and has seen a

:02:09. > :02:14.big increase in the crime in the past 18 years. -- I'll. It has gone

:02:14. > :02:21.up by 40 % in the past three years. They are getting cheeky, how they

:02:21. > :02:25.do it. They are taking petrol tankers. They take a delivery truck.

:02:25. > :02:29.Instead of delivering the fuel, they are pumping it out of the

:02:29. > :02:36.truck. They are dressed in a uniform and they look like delivery

:02:36. > :02:43.drivers. That is what has happened. It is not just being stolen from

:02:43. > :02:47.garages. Lorries and tankers are major targets. In 2011, more than

:02:47. > :02:52.1,500 cases were reported and in some cases, more than 1000 litres

:02:52. > :02:58.were stolen. The authorities say there is a link between rising

:02:58. > :03:03.prices and rising crime. We have got a 17 % increase in the fuel

:03:03. > :03:08.theft. That does not include petrol stations, currently almost 40 % in

:03:09. > :03:13.Lincolnshire. It is along with the national average, increasing. That

:03:13. > :03:22.is down to the increase in prices and people simply not afford in the

:03:22. > :03:26.fuel and stealing it. -- affording. Recently there were more than one

:03:27. > :03:36.dozen facts in one week and this man is taking precautions. --

:03:37. > :03:37.

:03:37. > :03:41.deaths. -- cases of theft. Here, you cannot get any fuel out.

:03:41. > :03:50.Technology is being brought in to try and beat the criminals but

:03:50. > :03:53.while prices remain high, this is I asked Malcolm Bingham from the

:03:53. > :04:02.Freight Transport Association about why East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire

:04:02. > :04:08.is being targeted by fuel fact criminals. The cost of fuel has

:04:08. > :04:16.made it more attractive for organised criminals To target is

:04:16. > :04:21.that type of commodity. In the past we have seen a lot of crime where

:04:21. > :04:27.things have been taken but more and more companies are aware of that

:04:27. > :04:31.and have taken preventative measures. But when vehicles are

:04:31. > :04:36.parked, sometimes in isolated places, they become more of a

:04:36. > :04:45.target. And our drivers and colleagues doing all that they can

:04:45. > :04:49.to protect fuel all leading them wide open? We have got a couple of

:04:49. > :04:55.problem areas. One of the issues we are concerned about is the lack of

:04:55. > :05:01.proper Secure Parking. We have had a history of a lack of provision

:05:01. > :05:06.for that sort of facility. Sometimes when operators try to set

:05:06. > :05:12.up that kind of facility in the area, they get local resistance

:05:12. > :05:18.because it is looked as not being the sort of business opportunity

:05:18. > :05:28.that should be put in certain areas. Secure Parking is a major issue.

:05:28. > :05:36.And presumably, that bumps up the bill even more? We have got an

:05:36. > :05:40.issue around cost. But what we are asking for is a network of proper

:05:40. > :05:44.and affordable parking across the country, where that sort of

:05:44. > :05:51.provision is made and drivers can rest at night understanding that

:05:51. > :05:55.they are secured. We have got a good facility in Yorkshire and the

:05:55. > :06:00.Humber area but people start to wonder if it is the right sort of

:06:01. > :06:05.provision. Not all lorry parks are stickier and can become targets it

:06:05. > :06:11.people realise the vehicles are there with large amounts of fuel. -

:06:11. > :06:18.- stickier. It appears the criminals are one step ahead.

:06:18. > :06:23.industry is always trying to combat that effect. Because of the

:06:23. > :06:31.increased value of fuel, it has moved towards taking this problem

:06:31. > :06:36.forward. Good to talk to you. Malcolm Bingham from the Freight

:06:36. > :06:43.Transport Association. What can be done to combat this problem? Have

:06:43. > :06:53.you been affected by this? Let us you been affected by this? Let us

:06:53. > :07:00.

:07:00. > :07:04.We will read some of your contributions later. Coming up, it

:07:04. > :07:10.is a centuries old tradition. Four pubs battle it out for the Haxey

:07:10. > :07:14.Hood. Norfolk police have still not been able to identify the body of a

:07:14. > :07:18.woman found on the Sandringham estate at the weekend.

:07:18. > :07:24.Investigations began after a human remains were discovered at Anmer on

:07:24. > :07:28.New year's Day. Tests are taking place in the next 48 hours. When

:07:28. > :07:32.police arranged at today's conference they had hoped to

:07:32. > :07:38.provide positive information on the beer that -- murder victim will

:07:38. > :07:46.stop at the latest tests --. But tests had not revealed a usable DNA

:07:46. > :07:53.profile. Because of the competition, the samples are not properly

:07:53. > :07:58.available. -- be decomposition. We are confident we can eventually get

:07:58. > :08:04.a full profile. Detailed searches where a Walker discovered the

:08:04. > :08:09.remains have continued. And entomologist has helped from the

:08:09. > :08:15.National retreat -- History Museum. They are trying to determine when

:08:15. > :08:19.the body died. It was a white female between the age of 15-23.

:08:19. > :08:23.Police want to identify people working in the area at the time had

:08:23. > :08:28.have contacted the estate manager about events held in the area

:08:28. > :08:33.between the end of August and September. The latest tests carried

:08:33. > :08:38.out during the weekend are on a femur bone, a leg bone found at the

:08:38. > :08:42.site at Sandringham. If the tests go well, police hope they will have

:08:42. > :08:47.a positive D N A sample on Monday and then be detected work will

:08:47. > :08:51.happen to establish exactly do with the murder victim was. We do not

:08:51. > :08:58.know her name and how she died but while the delay is frustrating,

:08:58. > :09:05.police say they are making progress. Tests are being carried out on the

:09:05. > :09:08.body in a mortuary to confirm if it is Christopher Alder. It was

:09:08. > :09:12.discovered in the morgue last November. It was discovered 11

:09:12. > :09:17.years after his funeral. It is thought a woman was buried in his

:09:17. > :09:20.place. The family has asked Professor Jack Crane, state

:09:20. > :09:25.pathologist in Northern Ireland to lead the examination. More details

:09:25. > :09:31.next week. 22 people will be made redundant after an announcement at

:09:31. > :09:35.a children's play area will Clays. Staff at Monkey Business in St

:09:35. > :09:42.Stephen's Square were told it would close on Sunday after new owners

:09:42. > :09:46.did not agree occupancy terms with the management. A vote of

:09:46. > :09:51.confidence is how the investment is being described involving Siemens.

:09:51. > :09:57.It is a new factory in the city. They employed more than 5,000

:09:57. > :10:03.people to make gas turbines. As we report, it appears it is a rare

:10:03. > :10:08.manufacturing success in tough economic times. Gas turbines are

:10:08. > :10:13.used in power generation and to pump oil through pipes. The good

:10:13. > :10:20.news is that the order book for these machines is looking healthy.

:10:20. > :10:23.I have great pleasure in officially opening this facility. At the

:10:23. > :10:31.opening of the return Bicester factory, we have got an air of

:10:31. > :10:35.confidence. -- the factory. It is the most we have recruited in a

:10:35. > :10:40.long time. We are trying to make sure that we have got not just the

:10:40. > :10:45.technology, but the people. Manufacturing success stories are

:10:45. > :10:48.rare at the moment but this is among them. This investment marks a

:10:48. > :10:56.vote of confidence in this workforce and the wider community

:10:56. > :11:00.in Lincoln. Siemens has invested in a new engineering school at Lincoln

:11:00. > :11:06.University and has signed up to a multi-million pound research

:11:06. > :11:10.facility at the Business Park. you get a company of such fame and

:11:10. > :11:14.important putting resources in, that is a sign that Lincoln is a

:11:15. > :11:21.place of the future. They have got the skills and the young people and

:11:21. > :11:29.the experienced workforce to resource this company. And the

:11:29. > :11:33.college is reaping the benefit of a booming engineering sector. We have

:11:33. > :11:41.seen an increase in recruitment and investment. Particularly true

:11:41. > :11:45.Siemens but our organisations as well. Business is booming. The

:11:45. > :11:50.building has just been built and a had obviously spent a lot of money

:11:50. > :11:55.it. I think a company as big as Siemens is a great place to build a

:11:55. > :12:04.career. They have got more than one century of skilled engineering

:12:04. > :12:09.tradition. This is likely to insure Parents in Grimsby have been

:12:09. > :12:19.protesting against plans for a health centre for vulnerable people

:12:19. > :12:19.

:12:19. > :12:25.The open door centre will be built a short distance from the Strand

:12:25. > :12:29.Community School in the East Marsh. Some of the people using the

:12:29. > :12:35.service are ex offenders and drug users. Parents think it is the

:12:35. > :12:38.wrong location for the centre. think it is disgusting. It is not

:12:38. > :12:43.fair. Children, parents, we think it is disgusting and it is not

:12:43. > :12:49.right. I did it is totally outrageous. They should not be

:12:49. > :12:55.doing anything like this where we have got children. We have got a

:12:55. > :12:59.school and a playground and a nursery and old people nearby.

:12:59. > :13:04.understand their concerns. We are moving closer to the people and

:13:04. > :13:09.working with them. We have got more than 1,000 people registered and

:13:09. > :13:13.600 live in the East Marsh. Some of them are going to the school and

:13:13. > :13:19.the local children's centre. A lot of them are in that area already

:13:19. > :13:29.and we are actually going to them. We would like you to comment about

:13:29. > :13:32.

:13:32. > :13:36.We would like you to comment about And on the programme last night we

:13:36. > :13:40.told you about the police community support officer who will not face

:13:40. > :13:44.charges after slapping a teenage boy in Grimsby. Humberside police

:13:44. > :13:48.say that the officer has been disciplined and that the slap was

:13:48. > :13:58.part of a joke. There was issued response on this story after the

:13:58. > :14:24.

:14:24. > :14:28.programme last night and on the Thank you fall of those.

:14:28. > :14:32.Still ahead on the programme, residents of Margaret Thatcher's

:14:33. > :14:38.home town of Grantham get their chance to see the film of her life.

:14:38. > :14:48.And try not to take a wrong turn, finding out the problems with sat

:14:48. > :15:05.

:15:05. > :15:15.nav. The favourite text of the week

:15:15. > :15:15.

:15:15. > :15:25.award goes to Mike, I bet p to leave the EU will be disappointed

:15:25. > :15:26.

:15:26. > :15:31.to find that you have more followers on Twitter than him. The

:15:31. > :15:37.headline for the next 24 hours is not bad. This weekend is not

:15:37. > :15:40.shaping up too badly. It will be quite breezy, but on the whole it

:15:40. > :15:46.will be dry and we will see some sunshine breaking through the

:15:46. > :15:49.clouds at times. It has been a fabulous day today. Clouds have

:15:49. > :15:56.moved in through the afternoon as they could be the odd spot of rain

:15:56. > :16:01.or drizzle in places. You will notice the wind picking up. It will

:16:01. > :16:06.not be as windy as the other night, but you will notice the wind and

:16:06. > :16:11.nonetheless. A patchy rain will clear throughout the night. The

:16:11. > :16:21.lowest temperatures will be around five Celsius. The sun will rise in

:16:21. > :16:24.

:16:24. > :16:29.the morning. It will be a nice day for getting out and about, the

:16:29. > :16:35.coast will have a lovely day. Variable amounts of cloud, a chance

:16:35. > :16:39.of light showers in the West. There will be some sunshine and pleasant

:16:39. > :16:49.conditions for getting outdoors. Let's have a look at the highest

:16:49. > :16:54.

:16:54. > :17:00.Sunday it looks fine in the morning with some sunshine, I think cloud

:17:01. > :17:10.will thicken in the afternoon. A damp start on Monday, it brightens

:17:11. > :17:19.

:17:19. > :17:23.up later, but as I say it is an One of England's oldest annual

:17:23. > :17:29.events is under way right now. The Haxey Hood is a fourteenth-century

:17:29. > :17:35.contest held between the villages of Haxey and Woodside as they

:17:35. > :17:41.attempt to wrestle a leather want to one of four local pubs. Alcohol

:17:42. > :17:46.is key to the preparations. It is one of the few games away

:17:46. > :17:51.getting really drunk is practically a prerequisite. Fortunately for the

:17:51. > :17:59.Haxey Hood getting to a pub with the trophy is the name of the game.

:17:59. > :18:04.There are four involved. Crowds had to Haxey each year to take part in

:18:04. > :18:14.the Haxey Hood. It is a kind of fourteenth-century scrum. Look

:18:14. > :18:25.

:18:25. > :18:29.after everybody, if a man is down, Cure a wrestling match of epic

:18:30. > :18:34.proportions, steeped in a tale of a lady using a hood and the villagers

:18:34. > :18:39.vowing to return it. Even the police can be scared of controlling

:18:39. > :18:49.these crowds. It goes on for quite a while, but the best team wins in

:18:49. > :18:51.

:18:51. > :18:56.the end. Hopefully it will be other! If it chases UN to do not

:18:56. > :19:06.get out of the way, it sucks you up and somebody has to pull you out.

:19:06. > :19:07.

:19:07. > :19:11.Or of the local rugby length -- rugby lads come and join in. Some

:19:11. > :19:15.of these have been known to go on for days.

:19:15. > :19:20.Hull City have a break from the League this weekend as they take on

:19:20. > :19:24.Ipswich Town at home at. They will hope to make it through to the 4th

:19:24. > :19:29.round of the FA Cup. Caretaker- manager Nick Barmby looks set to

:19:29. > :19:34.take the job on a permanent basis. Last week's home defeat to Derby

:19:34. > :19:39.was the Tigers third in a row over the festive period. Nick Barmby

:19:39. > :19:43.will be hoping for a victory as he is due to be installed as city's

:19:43. > :19:47.full-time boss. Hopefully everything will be sorted out over

:19:47. > :19:56.the weekend, if not Monday. It will definitely be signed over the next

:19:56. > :20:04.few days. Everything is positive. Elsewhere this weekend, after

:20:04. > :20:14.completing the double over Lincoln City, Ipswich Town are facing

:20:14. > :20:17.

:20:17. > :20:20.Of course, enjoy your football this weekend.

:20:20. > :20:26.Residents of Margaret Thatcher's home town of Grantham are enjoying

:20:26. > :20:34.their chance to see the film of her life. The Iron Lady stars Hollywood

:20:34. > :20:39.legend, Meryl Streep, as the former prime minister. Was there much

:20:39. > :20:45.eager anticipation in the town? there certainly has been plenty of

:20:45. > :20:48.excitement. The first showing of this film is already under way. As

:20:48. > :20:52.you can tell by all of the decorations of the cinema, there is

:20:52. > :21:02.a new level of excitement about the first night of a film here in

:21:02. > :21:06.

:21:06. > :21:09.Where there is discord, may we bring harmony.

:21:09. > :21:17.Grantham's most famous daughter on the silver screen. The film is

:21:17. > :21:22.causing a stir in the Thatcher's causing a stir in the Thatcher's

:21:22. > :21:29.home town. People in Grantham either love her or hate her. People

:21:29. > :21:35.want to see how Meryl Streep performs in the film. As final

:21:35. > :21:39.preparations were made for the film's first showing, cinema-goers

:21:39. > :21:47.couldn't wait to see how Thatcher is portrayed. It is a very good

:21:47. > :21:52.cast. I know so much about it, I wanted to see it. Everyone has

:21:52. > :21:57.heard of her and seen her and seen her in action. In Grantham itself,

:21:57. > :22:02.the film is drawing in visitors. This was her father's shops and

:22:02. > :22:07.where she was born and brought up. The media are coming from far

:22:07. > :22:15.afield to see this town. We have had French television and radio and

:22:15. > :22:18.American radio. There is a great deal of curiosity and interest.

:22:18. > :22:23.Right Honourable Gentleman knows very well that we had no choice but

:22:23. > :22:28.to close the school. The Iron Lady charts Margaret

:22:28. > :22:33.Thatcher's rise to power. But in her childhood her classmates had no

:22:33. > :22:37.idea that she would be portrayed by a Hollywood star. She was very good

:22:37. > :22:47.in the class and with her behaviour, but I would not have said that as a

:22:47. > :22:50.small girl we would expect to see what she did in the future. This is

:22:50. > :22:57.what she achieved, becoming Britain's first female prime

:22:57. > :23:01.minister. But some are still angry today. In former mining towns like

:23:01. > :23:06.Chesterfield there has been angry protest about the film's release.

:23:06. > :23:16.But that has not stopped dozens flocking to see The Iron Lady on

:23:16. > :23:16.

:23:16. > :23:21.the big screen. Is it for tonight? They are a few

:23:21. > :23:25.dozen people down in the stalls at the moment, but for the next

:23:25. > :23:30.showing at 8:20pm it is almost sold out. The film coming from this

:23:30. > :23:34.projection room here also has another Lincolnshire link. Jim

:23:34. > :23:39.Broadbent, who was born on the other side of the county, is

:23:39. > :23:43.playing the part of a Denis Thatcher. One person we know who

:23:43. > :23:47.will not be in the audience in Grantham tonight, is Margaret

:23:47. > :23:56.Thatcher herself. The director of the film has told the BBC that she

:23:56. > :24:03.turned down an offer to see the film for herself.

:24:03. > :24:07.Thank you. Now, vehicles getting stuck, heavy goods vehicles hitting

:24:07. > :24:13.bridges and also locals getting frustrated all because of satellite

:24:13. > :24:17.navigation systems. The government is trying to tackle this problem.

:24:17. > :24:27.They want to reassure the information we have is bang up-to-

:24:27. > :24:37.

:24:37. > :24:43.Becoming too reliant on technology can soon it lead to the need for

:24:43. > :24:47.help. Especially when it comes to your sat nav. Say you're in

:24:47. > :24:54.Scunthorpe and fancy a day at the races, put the shortest route in

:24:54. > :25:01.your sat nav and it will take cue the long way around. The way the

:25:01. > :25:05.road starts to deteriorate is giving me my first clue. When you

:25:05. > :25:12.get to the bridge, you'll need a pretty thin vehicle with wheels

:25:12. > :25:17.like a tractor for the other side. On a map you will find this road to

:25:17. > :25:25.be either not marked at all, or of minimal quality. However sat nav

:25:26. > :25:30.are quite happy to tell you it is fine. You need to use a horse to

:25:30. > :25:40.get over that bridge. Unless you are local he would not know that.

:25:40. > :25:50.People using a sat nav will often get down here. You can also find

:25:50. > :25:55.yourself being taken through private land. It is also fine
