:00:08. > :00:15.North. The headlines tonight. The end of an era for Hull City as

:00:15. > :00:23.the football club is re-branded as the Hull City Tigers.

:00:23. > :00:26.Why change it? Everyone knows it as Hull City AFC. The iMac I don't

:00:27. > :00:34.think we should drop the city. Campaigners call for a total ban on

:00:34. > :00:37.motorists drinking alcohol before getting behind the wheel. If it was

:00:37. > :00:41.a zero tolerance attitude, everyone would be aware where they stand, you

:00:41. > :00:46.cannot drink and drive. The woman who says she was trapped

:00:46. > :00:50.in her own home by a pair of angry seagulls.

:00:50. > :00:58.And the musician who's uncovered what is thought to be a piece of

:00:58. > :01:08.Beatles history. I will be back later in the

:01:08. > :01:10.

:01:10. > :01:15.It's been in existence for more than 100 years and next week Hull City

:01:15. > :01:18.will start life back in the Premier League. But tonight, the decision by

:01:18. > :01:24.the club's owners to change the team's name has been criticised as a

:01:24. > :01:27.backward step. Hull City AFC is now Hull City Tigers, with the owner

:01:27. > :01:34.Assem Allam saying he would eventually like to shorten it to

:01:34. > :01:44.just Hull Tigers. He says it will make the club easier to market

:01:44. > :01:47.

:01:47. > :01:53.abroad. Simon Clark reports. Since 1904, they have been Hull City

:01:53. > :01:58.AFC, but from today, the AFC is no more. No, this is Hull City Tigers.

:01:58. > :02:06.If there is one thing to get fans talking, it is the name of their

:02:06. > :02:11.club. So, today we have invited two of them to discuss the change. They

:02:11. > :02:18.had plenty to say. The Tigers as apart from that name, the best in

:02:18. > :02:22.English football. Make something of that, but make something of it by

:02:22. > :02:27.clumsily merging it... My personal view is that it could have been

:02:27. > :02:30.handled so much better. I am concerned that there may have been

:02:30. > :02:33.some serious alienation of supporters. If there were plans are

:02:33. > :02:38.put to make this fundamental change, you would expect the

:02:38. > :02:44.supporters to have been consulted. marketing expert reckons the change

:02:44. > :02:49.has merit. I think foreign fans new to the Premier League looking for a

:02:49. > :02:53.club to support will find it is difficult to support Hull, they will

:02:53. > :02:58.monitor surly know where it is, therefore find it difficult to

:02:58. > :03:08.identify with that club. Whereas rebranded to the Tigers, it will be

:03:08. > :03:09.

:03:09. > :03:19.easier to attract new foreign fans. Councillor Terry Gerraghty, who's in

:03:19. > :03:30.

:03:30. > :03:33.charge of leisure and culture at Everybody knows it is Hull City AFC.

:03:33. > :03:37.I can understand why it is the Tigers, but I do not think we should

:03:37. > :03:43.drop the city. But Mac changing brands is nothing new. Last year,

:03:43. > :03:48.Cardiff City turned their home shirts from blue to red. And who can

:03:48. > :03:53.forget the brief rebranding as Hull Sharks? Just a matter of the

:03:53. > :03:59.football pictures. Chelsea versus Hull City Tigers, it may take some

:03:59. > :04:04.getting used to. I spoke to councillor Terry

:04:04. > :04:12.Geraghty, who is in charge of leisure and culture at Hull City

:04:12. > :04:17.Council. I asked him if he welcomed the name change. I do, -- I do

:04:17. > :04:20.nothing there needs to be any change because Hull city is branded all

:04:20. > :04:26.over the world and especially no way for doing that then we are doing as

:04:26. > :04:34.far as the city is concerned for the year of culture 2017, we are now

:04:34. > :04:40.recognised by people down in London. Hull is the area to come to.

:04:40. > :04:48.Alain says the word city is common, is he right? The Queen the stowed

:04:48. > :04:52.this. That is what was invested on us many years ago. If you want the

:04:52. > :04:58.Tigers to compete on the world stage, win the Premier League, do we

:04:58. > :05:05.not have to move with The Times? name city has been mothers for 100

:05:05. > :05:08.odd years now and I do not see any advantage. -- has been by bus. I

:05:08. > :05:14.believe that there are many looking -- they may be looking to sell the

:05:14. > :05:19.club, I don't know. To me, I would be thinking, what is in it to make

:05:19. > :05:26.it an even bigger brand than what it has no? Do you think you might want

:05:26. > :05:31.to do that you Mac no I think that might be something he is not saying.

:05:31. > :05:36.If you have a brand that is known as Hull city, you do not change the

:05:36. > :05:40.brand unless there is something else behind it.

:05:40. > :05:44.The Daily Telegraph says the name change shows a lack of respect for

:05:44. > :05:49.fans. Should they have been asked to? I think so. You should have put

:05:49. > :05:52.it to the fans, whether they wanted to change the name. But it would

:05:53. > :05:58.have been common courtesy to get in touch with the City Council and ask

:05:58. > :06:04.their opinion. I think they have done this because of other reasons.

:06:04. > :06:10.It is not the reason that he is saying. Can you understand why the

:06:10. > :06:17.fans are unhappy? I can. I have supported them since I was a boy. We

:06:17. > :06:21.did not say, go and see the Tigers, we went to see City. Do you think

:06:21. > :06:28.changing the club's name matters? Maybe you think it will make it

:06:28. > :06:38.easier to market it around the world? I know several people have

:06:38. > :06:45.

:06:45. > :06:48.been in touch already, they are very We will have some before we are done

:06:48. > :06:51.at seven o'clock. In a moment: Why campaigners in

:06:51. > :06:58.Louth have come up with their own plans to stop their council selling

:06:58. > :07:04.land to a supermarket chain. Road safety campaigners don't want

:07:04. > :07:08.people to have any alcoholic drinks at all if they are driving. A man

:07:08. > :07:13.from Hull, whose brother was killed by a drunk driver, is among those

:07:13. > :07:15.demanding a total ban on motorists consuming alcohol before they drive.

:07:15. > :07:22.Figures show the number of casualties in the Humberside Police

:07:22. > :07:26.area is higher in August than in any other month. More from our political

:07:26. > :07:29.editor, Tim Iredale. While the majority of responsible

:07:29. > :07:33.drivers remain within the legal drink drive limit, a stubborn

:07:33. > :07:43.minority continue to break the law and the summer months are often the

:07:43. > :07:43.

:07:43. > :07:48.worst time. We are trying to highlight, if you are out at family

:07:48. > :07:53.barbecues and weddings, to be careful and not only about drinking

:07:53. > :07:59.and driving that may, obviously that is the main message, but to actually

:07:59. > :08:04.think about the morning after, are you still, diesel have alcohol in

:08:04. > :08:07.your system due Mac With many teenagers hoping to celebrate after

:08:07. > :08:12.getting their A-level results next week, young drivers are being warned

:08:12. > :08:15.that drink and driving could ruin their big night out. Figures from

:08:15. > :08:19.the Humberside force revealed the average number of drink drive

:08:19. > :08:25.related casualties is 18 in August, compared to nine over the Christmas

:08:25. > :08:30.period. That is when most campaigns are focused. Successive governments

:08:30. > :08:33.have argued against lowering the UK drink drive limit, to bring us in

:08:33. > :08:39.line with other European countries. But some campaigners would like to

:08:39. > :08:42.go further and to see a total ban on drivers touching any alcohol before

:08:42. > :08:46.they get behind the wheel. Stephen Meara-Blount has felt the pain and

:08:46. > :08:49.misery caused by drink-driving. In 2006, he was knocked down by a

:08:50. > :08:55.speeding driver on Beverley Road in Hull, along with his brother, Tony,

:08:55. > :09:05.who later died in hospital. Stephen now campaigns for the road safety

:09:05. > :09:10.group Brake. People take a chance, maybe one or two drinks. Not knowing

:09:10. > :09:15.if they are over the limit or not. If it was a zero tolerance attitude,

:09:15. > :09:20.then everybody would be aware of where they stand, you cannot drink

:09:20. > :09:26.and drive. So, would these drinkers supported tougher drink drive

:09:26. > :09:33.limit? I think the laws are OK as they are. Personally I think you can

:09:33. > :09:38.have a pint or maybe to maximum. don't think the pubs would get any

:09:38. > :09:40.trade, there would be no one driving. The Government says it

:09:40. > :09:48.remains committed to educating drivers about the dangers of

:09:48. > :09:51.drink-driving. Tim is with me now. So the Government says it has no

:09:51. > :09:57.plans to change the law on drink-driving, but how much pressure

:09:57. > :10:00.is there for a rethink? Many road safety campaigners and professionals

:10:00. > :10:04.and senior police officers would like to see a zero level ban, but

:10:04. > :10:09.officials from the Department for transport have told us that this is

:10:09. > :10:12.not a practical option, the reason they give is that they say even

:10:12. > :10:17.without drinking it is possible for small amounts of alcohol to be

:10:17. > :10:20.present in the body for other -- from other sources, such as the

:10:20. > :10:26.fermentation process involved in the digestive Asian of certain

:10:26. > :10:30.foodstuffs, or as an ingredient in mouthwash. -- in the digester in. I

:10:30. > :10:34.think pressure will come to reduce the limit in mind that other

:10:34. > :10:38.European countries. You might also want to get in touch about this

:10:38. > :10:48.story. Do you think a total ban on alcohol if you're driving is the

:10:48. > :10:48.

:10:48. > :10:51.right way to go? We look forward to hearing from you.

:10:51. > :10:54.50 officers from the Serious Crime team at Humberside Police are

:10:54. > :10:57.investigating an armed robbery in Beverley. More than 200,000 worth

:10:57. > :11:01.of watches were stolen from a jewellers on Tuesday. The police are

:11:01. > :11:05.studying hours of CCTV footage of Beverley, and the area of Hull where

:11:05. > :11:09.one of the getaway cars was parked before the raid.

:11:09. > :11:12.There's been a rise in the number of 999 calls attended by private

:11:12. > :11:15.ambulances in the area covered by the East Midlands Ambulance Service.

:11:15. > :11:20.Officials say they're now investing 4 million in their own new

:11:20. > :11:22.ambulances to meet increasing demand.

:11:22. > :11:26.They want to protect Louth from commercial development. But

:11:26. > :11:29.campaigners have come up with their own plans for developing its cattle

:11:29. > :11:33.market. For years there has been speculation that East Lindsey

:11:33. > :11:36.District Council would sell the site to a supermarket. Instead the

:11:36. > :11:42.community group Keep Louth Special wants to turn the area into an

:11:42. > :11:46.activity park, as Simon Spark reports.

:11:46. > :11:50.As market towns go, Louth was voted one of the best last year. But there

:11:50. > :11:59.are still ongoing issues about what will happen to its cattle market

:11:59. > :12:02.site. One community group desperate not to see it turn into a possible

:12:02. > :12:06.supermarket have now come up with their own alternative plans. The

:12:06. > :12:09.group Keep Louth Special want to see a climbing wall, cafes, shops and an

:12:09. > :12:18.hotel outside, and inside, the cattle market would double up as a

:12:18. > :12:21.live music venue. This is where the climbing wall would be.

:12:21. > :12:27.supermarket is convenient. A lot of people would want it here. This is a

:12:27. > :12:31.bad site for the survival of the town, as a centre for independent

:12:31. > :12:36.shopping. We have seen it in many other towns across the country. All

:12:36. > :12:38.the character gets bleached out by the supermarket. This site can

:12:38. > :12:43.continue to provide the agricultural focus and the community focus.

:12:43. > :12:48.many today, this was the first they'd heard of these new proposals.

:12:48. > :12:52.I would not have thought we would need any more shops. I think the

:12:52. > :12:59.climbing wall is quite good. Sue-mac people have to go into Grimsby or

:12:59. > :13:02.Skegness if they want to do a really big shop. I think it looks good.

:13:02. > :13:09.Anything is better than a supermarket. We have nothing to do

:13:09. > :13:13.with our kids around here and we have plenty of supermarkets.

:13:13. > :13:16.Eastland Council say they have taken no decision, but are currently

:13:16. > :13:19.seeking advice to inform a decision as to whether it should be made

:13:19. > :13:22.available. They add, "Once the advice is received, the council will

:13:22. > :13:26.consider its position. If in the future, the site is made available

:13:26. > :13:29.for sale or lease, the District Council would be keen to hear from

:13:29. > :13:32.any organisation or business which would be interested in the site,

:13:32. > :13:42.including Keep Louth Special." For now, the wait on this cattle

:13:42. > :13:44.

:13:44. > :13:48.market's future continues. A story that we will continue to

:13:48. > :13:56.follow. Still ahead tonight: The woman who

:13:56. > :13:59.claims aggressive seagulls made her a prisoner in her own home.

:13:59. > :14:02.These are the trousers that Paul McCartney used to wear. And how a

:14:02. > :14:12.piece of Beatles history ended up in the hands of an East Yorkshire

:14:12. > :14:14.

:14:14. > :14:17.musician. Tonight's photograph. This is Hull,

:14:17. > :14:23.taken from Barton on Humber at 5:30am this morning, by Chris James

:14:24. > :14:28.of Barton. That is a stunner. Thank you for

:14:28. > :14:36.that and for all the e-mails and pictures this week. She league

:14:36. > :14:42.Donovan, good evening. -- Keeley Donovan. People think I have the

:14:42. > :14:52.best job in turn, chatting to the Donovan every night.

:14:52. > :14:57.

:14:57. > :15:03.Right, the weekend weather, a mixed bag, not too bad. Not a wash-out,

:15:03. > :15:09.but not blazing sunshine. Variable amounts. Sunday, the greater risk of

:15:09. > :15:14.catching showers. The odd shower, but generally there will be no

:15:14. > :15:20.proper rain. Perhaps a little on Saturday night but the showers will

:15:20. > :15:25.be hit and miss. Earlier today, the cloud is well broken, lots of

:15:25. > :15:29.sunshine to end the day but it is rather breezy. Fine as we had

:15:29. > :15:32.through this evening with long, clear spells. It might be an little

:15:33. > :15:37.more cloud filters up from the south. These are the values in the

:15:37. > :15:42.towns and cities. I think out in the countryside, particularly where we

:15:42. > :15:51.keep the clear skies, it will be cooler. The sun will rise at 5:31am,

:15:51. > :15:54.setting again at 8:42pm. The next high water... It should start the

:15:54. > :16:00.day in parts of east Yorkshire on a sunny note. More cloud across

:16:00. > :16:05.Lincolnshire. Variable amounts of cloud, at times fairly cloudy, but

:16:06. > :16:09.there will be a lot of rightness and spells of sunshine. The showers are

:16:09. > :16:18.very hit and miss, you will be unlucky if you catch one.

:16:18. > :16:22.Temperatures leading to around 20 Celsius. Around 20, 21. The greater

:16:22. > :16:26.risk of catching a shower on Sunday and it will be a more breezy day.

:16:26. > :16:29.Variable amounts of cloud as we go through the day on Sunday. It will

:16:29. > :16:35.be broken and we will have a few showers to content with Allsop there

:16:35. > :16:38.could be the odd heavier one. On Monday, a repeat performance.

:16:38. > :16:48.Variable cloud with sunny spells. Showers on Monday tending to the

:16:48. > :16:49.

:16:49. > :16:52.Have a nice weekend. It may be summer, but gritting teams

:16:52. > :16:56.in Lincolnshire say they are busier now than at any other time of the

:16:56. > :16:59.year. They're using new technology to map nearly 2000 miles of the

:16:59. > :17:02.county's roads to make their gritters more efficient. They've

:17:02. > :17:10.just taken delivery of a brand new fleet, ready for when winter sets

:17:10. > :17:14.in. Caroline Bilton has been out with them.

:17:14. > :17:18.Let's face it, you will not have seen one of these for a while, but

:17:18. > :17:22.in a few months, they will be back, laying a vital role in keeping the

:17:22. > :17:26.roads clear of ice and snow. But just because we haven't seen much of

:17:26. > :17:31.the white stuff recently, it doesn't mean that our gritting teams are

:17:31. > :17:35.getting to put up their feet. Two we are probably busier in the summer

:17:35. > :17:41.than the winter, the amount of operation, it is the hottest day of

:17:41. > :17:44.the year and we are getting ready for when it is snowing. It feels odd

:17:45. > :17:49.to be talking about gritting but keeping the roads moving during the

:17:49. > :17:53.winter months is an all year round job and it is not just about

:17:53. > :17:59.throwing a bit of grit on the roads. There is a science behind this. To

:17:59. > :18:02.prove it, we will need one of these. For the past few months, the roads

:18:02. > :18:07.in Lincolnshire have been scrutinised by this computer. The

:18:08. > :18:15.latest in GPS technology. These controls set the salting and the

:18:15. > :18:19.width of how the salt is spread, to be membered for the future. The

:18:19. > :18:23.greater will mimic what I have been putting in. Act in the office, the

:18:23. > :18:28.roots are put into the computer, complete with how much salt needs to

:18:28. > :18:32.be spread, depending on the width of the road. The result, precision

:18:32. > :18:38.gritting. You do not need that much salt to have an effect. It is in

:18:38. > :18:42.this kind of technology, this modern way of doing things, that we are

:18:42. > :18:48.saving our salt and making efficiency savings that means we can

:18:48. > :18:52.develop things elsewhere. Like taking delivery of 14 new critters,

:18:52. > :18:55.all the way from Denmark, which will eventually be fitted with the new

:18:55. > :18:59.computers, ready for the start of the new winter season, which

:18:59. > :19:02.incidentally is only eight weeks away.

:19:02. > :19:06.Now, last night we told you about the amount of parents being fined

:19:06. > :19:10.for keeping their children off school in Lincolnshire. It's a

:19:10. > :19:13.number which has more than doubled after the County Council decided to

:19:13. > :19:23.get tough on term time holidays and other unauthorised absences. Parents

:19:23. > :19:24.

:19:24. > :19:27.face fines of 60. But is that fair? Well, many people have been in touch

:19:27. > :19:31.with us since. John from Lincoln says, "Parents should be fined for

:19:31. > :19:36.taking children out of school for holidays. We go on holiday during

:19:36. > :19:39.school term to have a quiet holiday without kids!"

:19:39. > :19:49.But Marc from East Yorkshire, which also has a similar system,

:19:49. > :20:06.

:20:06. > :20:10.Hull KR play Hull FC this weekend in another local rugby derby. The two

:20:10. > :20:14.teams meet on Sunday at Craven Park. Hull KR won the first derby of the

:20:14. > :20:22.season away at FC, but were then beaten in the Magic Weekend game in

:20:22. > :20:27.May, when FC won with a controversial try. We just want to

:20:27. > :20:34.write a few wrongs. We have probably been guilty of not being at our best

:20:34. > :20:40.previously. Very much about us this week. Looking after our fans and

:20:40. > :20:45.giving them something to write about. We like playing here at the

:20:45. > :20:48.like the supporters and it has been a long time. We are looking forward

:20:48. > :20:54.to it. And BBC Radio Humberside will have full commentary of Sunday's

:20:54. > :21:00.match on FM and online. Build-up starts at 1:30pm, with kick off at

:21:00. > :21:04.2:15pm. In Football, Scunthorpe United are

:21:05. > :21:09.away at Bristol Rovers in League Two tomorrow. BBC Radio Humberside's FM

:21:09. > :21:12.frequency has full coverage of that game. As the new Conference season

:21:12. > :21:15.starts, Grimsby Town play their first match against Aldershot.

:21:15. > :21:21.Commentary is on BBC Radio Humberside's Digital and Online

:21:21. > :21:28.services. And BBC Radio Lincolnshire also has full coverage of Lincoln

:21:28. > :21:31.City's trip to Woking. Kick off is at 3pm.

:21:32. > :21:36.A Bridlington woman says she was too afraid to spend time in her own

:21:36. > :21:39.garden for fear of being attacked by seagulls. Penny Freeman actually

:21:39. > :21:47.avoided leaving her house for four days because two gulls were

:21:47. > :21:53.protecting a chick, which had fallen from it's nest. -- from its nest.

:21:53. > :21:58.Jill Archbold reports. As British as changeable weather and

:22:02. > :22:07.Edlington woman, they have become the neighbours she never wanted. --

:22:07. > :22:12.Bridlington. Much bigger than you think and they have piercing yellow

:22:12. > :22:18.eyes that look filled with hatred. You cannot attribute those emotions

:22:18. > :22:22.to a bird, but that is how they look. For four days, Penny stayed

:22:22. > :22:27.indoors, the reason, this young seagull chick fell from its nest and

:22:27. > :22:32.to it -- too inexperienced to fight, it was aggressively protected by its

:22:32. > :22:38.parents. Two there are always one or two, guarding it. You put your head

:22:52. > :22:58.definitely wanting some action. Her brother says the birds have caused

:22:58. > :23:03.problems for others on the street. Next door came out and they dive

:23:03. > :23:08.bombed him, he had to beat it off with a baseball bat. For the wrong

:23:13. > :23:19.I wanted to do, I was so angry about being told by a bird to stay

:23:19. > :23:23.indoors. The RSPB say the end of breeding season is near, but while

:23:23. > :23:29.the interest in their chicks fades, do not underestimate their taste for

:23:29. > :23:33.chips! During their early performances,

:23:33. > :23:38.black leather trousers and matching jackets defined the Beatles. They

:23:38. > :23:41.were made by a tailor in Hamburg in Germany in the early 1960s. But when

:23:41. > :23:46.Brian Epstein took over as the group's manager, he changed their

:23:46. > :23:50.look to stylish suits. Well, before they hit the big time, a man from

:23:50. > :23:55.Bridlington was performing with them and he ended up with a pair of Paul

:23:55. > :24:03.McCartney's trousers. As Leanne Brown reports, it's thought they

:24:04. > :24:08.could be worth thousands. These are the trousers that Paul

:24:11. > :24:17.when he played a regular gig at the famous Cavern club in Liverpool, and

:24:17. > :24:23.he was good friends with the group's new manager. I have a look around

:24:23. > :24:32.the dressing them, and the trousers were in a bag, hanging up. Brian

:24:32. > :24:36.headstones, those are all McCartney's trousers, have them. I

:24:36. > :24:45.will get them into these suits I have organised. From then on, the

:24:45. > :24:53.Beatles started wearing smart suits. It was a bit sort of old hat anyway.

:24:53. > :24:56.So, we didn't want to look ridiculous. Brian suggested that we

:24:56. > :24:59.wore ordinary suits. A leather jacket owned by George Harrison

:25:18. > :25:21.fans all over the world really do go to auction to get the choice pieces

:25:21. > :25:28.when they come up. Looking back at photos, the trousers' unique style

:25:52. > :25:55.the trousers to be made. That is what makes these trousers so very

:26:03. > :26:06.everyone can enjoy the story they have to tell.

:26:07. > :26:11.Good to know that the trousers were verified by the inside leg

:26:11. > :26:14.measurement of Paul McCartney! Let's get a recap of the national

:26:44. > :26:49.not turn on Assem Allam. Let's not forget how much of a state the club

:26:49. > :26:54.was in when he took over. Paul says, yet another owner hoping to get a

:26:54. > :26:58.foothold in the Far East market. An expensive way to find out that they

:27:03. > :27:07.supporters, it may not be for ever, look at the Hull Sharks, that didn't

:27:18. > :27:23.Gary says, he has shown total disrespect to the fans, we were here
