:00:00. > :00:00.England's road to recovery. There is more throughout the evening on the
:00:00. > :00:07.BBC News Channel. We're back with the late
:00:08. > :00:12.Good evening and welcome. People from a village badly affected
:00:13. > :00:15.by a tidal surge three weeks ago are about to complete a charity walk.
:00:16. > :00:21.They were aiming to raise hundreds of pounds for flood victims in South
:00:22. > :00:24.Ferriby. Paul Lead has the story. When the surge struck three weeks
:00:25. > :00:29.ago, many homes on the banks of the Humber were under water. South
:00:30. > :00:34.Ferriby was badly hit. But it has brought people together to help.
:00:35. > :00:43.This the start point of a charity walk this morning. It's brilliant.
:00:44. > :00:46.These people are prepared to give up some of the Christmas holidays and
:00:47. > :00:53.people here have Christmas cancelled. My grandma has happily
:00:54. > :00:59.affected by the floods so I'm doing this to help others. It's a chance
:01:00. > :01:00.to help the community and people that have been affected by the
:01:01. > :01:03.floods. Their route through towns and
:01:04. > :01:06.villages in North Lincolnshire took them to Appleby, Broughton and
:01:07. > :01:09.Brigg, and people who'd heard about the floods were quick to donate
:01:10. > :01:13.cash. It will be months before all the homes are repaired, and they'll
:01:14. > :01:16.be keeping their eyes on high tides predicted next week. But in a
:01:17. > :01:27.crisis, they now know they have neighbours they can count on.
:01:28. > :01:31.Strong winds have caused some problems on the roads. It's thought
:01:32. > :01:35.a gust of wind played a part in this lorry spilling its load of tonnes of
:01:36. > :01:39.cat litter on the Immingham junction of the A180. Both the Humber Bridge
:01:40. > :01:42.and the Ouse Bridge were closed to high`sided vehicles during the day.
:01:43. > :01:44.Air display teams from around the world are being invited to help
:01:45. > :01:47.celebrate the Lincolnshire`based Red Arrows' 50th display season. Events
:01:48. > :01:50.are being planned for 2014 to celebrate the milestone, including
:01:51. > :01:52.displays at the Royal International Air Tattoo in Gloucestershire and at
:01:53. > :01:56.the Waddington Air Show. ?10,000 is being spent buying the
:01:57. > :01:59.latest technology to loan to elderly people in East Yorkshire. It's hoped
:02:00. > :02:03.if they learn to use the tablet devices, they will be able to get
:02:04. > :02:12.access to health advice, as well as keep in touch with family and
:02:13. > :02:16.friends, as Amy Cole reports. Since October, this group of pensioners
:02:17. > :02:19.has been learning how to use a tablet. Today they are being taught
:02:20. > :02:34.to make a video, something they've never done before. Where going to be
:02:35. > :02:42.very busy. Peter Copley is aged four years old. The tablet is taking time
:02:43. > :02:47.for used to. You could just walk around with the tablet and to show
:02:48. > :02:52.it to the family so they can have a conversation with the person at the
:02:53. > :02:56.other end. The rest of the class gets 13 to see how it works.
:02:57. > :03:04.And a chance to have some fun with it. `` their chance. The hope is
:03:05. > :03:11.that eventually, they use the tablets at home to video call family
:03:12. > :03:15.and friends. My son and family live in Cheshire and my grandson is
:03:16. > :03:22.particularly competent at iPads and the like so I shall enjoy being able
:03:23. > :03:30.to compact `` contact him. Last week, I was reading a book, which
:03:31. > :03:36.was great and it's great that I can enlarge the figures and letters. The
:03:37. > :03:44.pilot is a joint partnership between GPs and the council. We've got a
:03:45. > :03:47.vast area of thousands of square miles and rural projects `` villages
:03:48. > :03:54.and this project makes it easier to connect people. The group will be
:03:55. > :03:58.encouraged to download apps to help with their health care needs and
:03:59. > :04:01.interact with their GPs. Hull City could be without their
:04:02. > :04:04.goalkeeper Alan McGregor and David Meyler for the team's home game
:04:05. > :04:07.against Fulham tomorrow at the KC Stadium. Both were injured in the
:04:08. > :04:10.game against Manchester United, which the Tigers were at one stage
:04:11. > :04:19.leading 2`0. However, a James Chester own`goal made it 3`2 to give
:04:20. > :04:23.the visitors victory. Very good. They had their chances but they
:04:24. > :04:33.played really well. The buyers did great today. I've lost all respect
:04:34. > :04:37.for Manchester United. This is a ridiculous schedule that we have to
:04:38. > :04:41.play when there is so much at stake but we'll have to recover in time
:04:42. > :04:44.for Saturday. Scunthorpe United were denied a win
:04:45. > :04:48.late in stoppage time when Bury scored to make it a draw. Sam
:04:49. > :04:52.Winnall tapped this in to put the Iron 1`0 up. But after firing in a
:04:53. > :04:56.second, he was then sent off after a second booking for the way he
:04:57. > :04:59.celebrated the goal. Bury came back and levelled the game just before
:05:00. > :05:02.the whistle. Third`placed Scunthorpe are away at second`placed Oxford
:05:03. > :05:08.United on Sunday. Now the weather forecast with Paul
:05:09. > :05:19.Hudson. It's been very gusty. There were
:05:20. > :05:24.gusts of 75 miles an hour earlier on. Tomorrow, south`westerly gales
:05:25. > :05:30.were moderate overnights and they will be squally showers which will
:05:31. > :05:35.die away. Watch out for icy patches. Lows of two Celsius in rural
:05:36. > :05:40.locations. Less windy but still quite breezy. A day of isolated
:05:41. > :05:47.showers but most places try and find with a good deal of sunshine. Top
:05:48. > :05:51.temperatures coming in at six Celsius. Widespread frost on
:05:52. > :05:55.Saturday. Sunday looks dry with some sunshine but strong winds and
:05:56. > :06:00.further heavy `` have you went to come. We are back just after 10pm
:06:01. > :06:09.this evening with a further update. Goodbye.
:06:10. > :06:17.Good evening. What a week it has been, a stormy start, a law through
:06:18. > :06:18.Christmas, then a wild end to the week, had to keep up, isn't
