:00:00. > :00:13.Good evening and welcome. The bell of a Hull trawler, the Gaul, has

:00:14. > :00:16.been rung today in honour of the men who lost their lives when the vessel

:00:17. > :00:20.sank, 40 years ago. A memorial service took place to remember all

:00:21. > :00:26.of those from the city who've been lost at sea, as Emma Massey reports.

:00:27. > :00:32.One minute's silence in memory of men lost at sea marked by the sound

:00:33. > :00:36.of this bell. It had once sat on board the Gaul. The trawler sank 40

:00:37. > :00:39.years ago with the largest loss of life in the history of the fishing

:00:40. > :00:51.industry, with up to 36 fisherman losing their lives. Families of

:00:52. > :00:58.those lost attended the service. It is incredibly important and part of

:00:59. > :01:12.the history. It has to be kept going for years and years. It helps the

:01:13. > :01:16.families. For the sake of the thousands who have lost their lives,

:01:17. > :01:23.we must continue to tell the stories. It is part of our story.

:01:24. > :01:32.Today's annual service is held to remember all the lives from Hull

:01:33. > :01:38.that have been lost at sea. I have come from a shift `` from a fishing

:01:39. > :01:45.family and a fishing community and I have lost family at sea. I would not

:01:46. > :01:48.miss this for anything. There was also news today of the city's

:01:49. > :01:56.long`awaited memorial for lost trawlermen. I was on the committee

:01:57. > :02:02.for many years and it is something we have been working for four`day

:02:03. > :02:09.long time and we are at that point for being realised. Next year's

:02:10. > :02:13.service will be at the new memorial. Wreaths were laid and floral

:02:14. > :02:16.tributes cast into the sea. It was a chance to reflect on the risk the

:02:17. > :02:21.men took doing their jobs. Something people who came today hope will

:02:22. > :02:23.never be forgotten. Lincolnshire Police are

:02:24. > :02:27.investigating after a body was found in the River Witham in Lincoln.

:02:28. > :02:30.Officers were called to Spa Road near the city centre earlier today

:02:31. > :02:33.after a rower reported seeing a body in the water. The police underwater

:02:34. > :02:38.search unit has now recovered the body, and a postmortem examination

:02:39. > :02:41.will take place later. A Lincolnshire church could shut its

:02:42. > :02:45.doors for good unless parishioners can raise enough money to repair it.

:02:46. > :02:49.The spire on St Margaret's in Thimbleby near Horncastle has been

:02:50. > :02:52.dismantled for safety reasons. But now it's down, repairs still can't

:02:53. > :03:07.go ahead unless enough funds are raised. We've got a very long road

:03:08. > :03:13.to go along. In total, the total repairs and refurbishing, we are

:03:14. > :03:15.looking in excess of ?150,000. We are confident we can do it.

:03:16. > :03:18.Difficult decisions are facing those who manage the East Yorkshire coast,

:03:19. > :03:22.after the damage of this winter's storms. At Spurn Point, the road was

:03:23. > :03:24.washed away. Now the BBC's Countryfile programme has been

:03:25. > :03:34.investigating the best way to protect the coast, and whether we

:03:35. > :03:39.can afford big defences. We can build them but they are extremely

:03:40. > :03:42.expensive, so if you build more you will have to spend more on

:03:43. > :03:47.maintaining them. Predictions for climate change suggest larger and

:03:48. > :03:54.bigger storms will become more frequent in the future. The storm

:03:55. > :03:58.events that we had in December could recover every ten or 20 years. And

:03:59. > :04:00.you can see more of that report, including alternatives to heavy sea

:04:01. > :04:03.walls, on Countryfile later tonight on BBC One.

:04:04. > :04:06.Onto football now, and Scunthorpe United are still flying high after

:04:07. > :04:09.their 14th game unbeaten in League Two. In the Premier League, Hull

:04:10. > :04:11.City finally got their first win of 2014 against Steve Bruce's old club,

:04:12. > :04:15.Sunderland. An old stamping ground for Steve

:04:16. > :04:18.Bruce. But the former Sunderland manager returned to the Stadium of

:04:19. > :04:24.Light with his Hull City team still searching for its first league win

:04:25. > :04:28.of the year. Fortunately his old team gave Hull a helping hand when

:04:29. > :04:33.Wes Brown was sent off for bringing down Shane Long.

:04:34. > :04:41.Nothing came of the resulting free`kick, but the Tigers scored

:04:42. > :04:47.soon after. Long getting a touch on Jake Livermore's shot from a corner.

:04:48. > :04:50.Hull had further chances to score, but it wasn't until just after the

:04:51. > :04:53.hour when Long's fellow strike partner, Nikicia Jelavic, headed

:04:54. > :04:58.home after a deflection to score his first goal since coming to the club.

:04:59. > :05:02.The partnership is starting to flourish a bit only have started

:05:03. > :05:05.doing what I knew they would do in terms of their quality. In League

:05:06. > :05:07.Two, Scunthorpe United welcomed top`of`the`table Chesterfield to

:05:08. > :05:11.Glanford Park, and took the lead after 15 minutes through Sam

:05:12. > :05:14.Winnall. But on the stroke of half time, the Iron gave away a penalty

:05:15. > :05:17.and Owen Doyle equalised for the visitors.

:05:18. > :05:22.The draw means Scunthorpe remain in second place in the table.

:05:23. > :05:29.Let's get the weather forecast now, with Kay Crewdson.

:05:30. > :05:34.Through this evening, all parts should be largely dry and overnight

:05:35. > :05:40.we are looking at some clear skies and lighter winds than of late, so

:05:41. > :05:45.both of those sectors up for the touch of frost with temperatures

:05:46. > :05:53.dropping to around freezing. HLA and frosty start, watch out for an icy

:05:54. > :05:54.start. Dry and bright with decent spills of sunshine and isolated

:05:55. > :06:16.showers across Lincolnshire. Good evening. We have a significant

:06:17. > :06:18.number of severe warnings out. Most of them have been issued on the

:06:19. > :06:25.River Thames today. Now, of course, with more rain due this week, that

:06:26. > :06:29.is not good news, and as well as that, we are expecting some gales as

:06:30. > :06:33.well on the coast. But this week, perhaps an increased risk of some

:06:34. > :06:37.snow as well. At the moment we are in a quiet spell of weather, with

:06:38. > :06:41.fewer showers around, this evening and overnight. There is a risk as

:06:42. > :06:42.temperatures
