:00:00. > :00:00.flood waters are on the rise. That's

:00:07. > :00:12.Good evening from Look North. High winds have caused havoc across

:00:13. > :00:15.the East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, tonight, as roads were closed,

:00:16. > :00:18.trains delayed and trees brought down. The Humber Bridge and Ouse

:00:19. > :00:23.Bridge have been closed to all vehicles, this evening, as high

:00:24. > :00:27.winds batter the country. Gusts of up to 75 miles an hour have been

:00:28. > :00:31.recorded in the region. Forecasters say although the peak has passed

:00:32. > :00:34.they are warning there may still be stormy weather into the early hours.

:00:35. > :00:40.Our reporter Amanda White joins me now. How bad have things been?

:00:41. > :00:44.Well, we have now seen the worst of the weather now ` forecasters say

:00:45. > :00:52.things will begin to die down now. But as the day went on, today, the

:00:53. > :00:56.winds got up and the damage mounted. The winds have been felt the most on

:00:57. > :01:00.the coast this afternoon. There were gusts of 75 miles per hour in

:01:01. > :01:04.Holbeach and 67 miles per hour at Wainfleet near Skegness. Just up the

:01:05. > :01:07.road, 1500 homes lost power at Burgh le Marsh near Skegness at lunchtime.

:01:08. > :01:12.They all had power restored within two hours. The rough waters of the

:01:13. > :01:15.Humber and the North Sea at Bridlington earlier today were just

:01:16. > :01:18.the start. By tea`time, this ancient tree had collapsed in West Hull,

:01:19. > :01:21.taking a telephone box and a bay window with it.

:01:22. > :01:25.I'm completely stunned. I'm stunned! I knew the wind was strong, but I

:01:26. > :01:30.didn't realise it was that strong. I think it's flattened the telephone

:01:31. > :01:34.box. Earlier in Grimsby, a woman hurt her

:01:35. > :01:40.head when these trees landed on a van and a car. This tree also blew

:01:41. > :01:44.over in Butterwick near Boston. Earlier, winds gusted at 75 miles

:01:45. > :01:57.per hour in Holbeach and 67 miles per hour at Wainfleet. Tonight, the

:01:58. > :01:59.high winds had begun to cause major traffic chaos. With both the Ouse

:02:00. > :02:02.and Humber Bridges closed, commuters were stranded both sides of the

:02:03. > :02:07.water. Police urged against unnecessary journeys with unexpected

:02:08. > :02:10.hazards caused by the weather. The Hull to Rotterdam Ferry is still in

:02:11. > :02:19.its berth, its 8.30PM sailing has been delayed until at least

:02:20. > :02:22.midnight. Well, the problems do seem to be

:02:23. > :02:25.easing, now, although the rail companies across the region say they

:02:26. > :02:29.are still facing disruption ` particularly as trains are being

:02:30. > :02:32.affected further along the routes. And for motorists on the roads,

:02:33. > :02:37.police say the gusts could still cause problems. It's not clear yet

:02:38. > :02:41.how long the problems will carry on, but the advice is don't travel

:02:42. > :02:54.unless you have to and take extra care on your journeys. And Paul

:02:55. > :03:02.Hudson will be here in a few minutes with a full weather forecast for the

:03:03. > :03:05.next twenty four hours. Boston Borough Council says it will

:03:06. > :03:08.apply for tens of thousands of pounds of government funding to help

:03:09. > :03:11.pay for recovery work following December's floods. Over 500 homes,

:03:12. > :03:14.businesses and the Boston Stump were damaged following the tidal surge.

:03:15. > :03:19.The clear up has already cost the authority tens of thousands of

:03:20. > :03:22.pounds. One example would be Council tax

:03:23. > :03:24.discounts and council tax holidays, particularly where people are living

:03:25. > :03:27.in particularly difficult conditions, and in some cases not

:03:28. > :03:31.living in their homes. We still have over 150 families that are not

:03:32. > :03:44.living in the houses that they were prior to the event.

:03:45. > :03:46.A group of Lincolnshire farmers are raising money for people flooded in

:03:47. > :03:50.Somerset. The social media based group say they've raised hundreds of

:03:51. > :03:54.pounds so far. They've also arranged to send straw and food to farmers in

:03:55. > :03:56.the South West of England. Teenagers from East Yorkshire and

:03:57. > :04:00.Lincolnshire have joined a protest in London calling for the voting age

:04:01. > :04:03.to be lowered to sixteen. At the moment, young people in

:04:04. > :04:06.England have to wait until they are eighteen to take part in elections,

:04:07. > :04:09.but some MPs, including Scunthorpe's Nic Dakin, want to reduce the age

:04:10. > :04:12.limit. Here's more from our Political Editor Tim Iredale.

:04:13. > :04:14.What do we want? Votes! When do we want it? Sixteen!

:04:15. > :04:18.The teenagers who marched on Parliament, today, have no direct

:04:19. > :04:20.say on who represents them here. Some, including 16`year`old Thomas

:04:21. > :04:24.from Hull, believe that should change.

:04:25. > :04:27.I think young people in East Yorkshire really should be allowed

:04:28. > :04:30.to vote, because they are currently underrepresented. They don't

:04:31. > :04:34.understand that they have a say in parliament. Giving them the vote at

:04:35. > :04:37.16 means that they can influence the country, and realise that politics

:04:38. > :04:40.really does play a part in everything in their life.

:04:41. > :04:43.Although under 18s in England can't vote under current rules, 16 and

:04:44. > :04:51.17`year`olds in Scotland will be able to vote in this year's

:04:52. > :04:55.referendum on independence. Some MPs would like to see the voting age

:04:56. > :05:00.lowered across the UK. Why not have votes at 16? As someone

:05:01. > :05:03.that has worked pretty much all my adult life with 16 to 18`year`olds,

:05:04. > :05:07.my experience would suggest that they have as much sense as us older

:05:08. > :05:13.people when it comes to making judgements.

:05:14. > :05:17.But would the majority of people use their vote? It's estimated that in

:05:18. > :05:26.last year's local elections, 32% of 18 to 24``year`olds turned out to

:05:27. > :05:30.vote. Compared with 72% of over 65s. I asked college students whether

:05:31. > :05:34.they wanted to see the voting age lowered.

:05:35. > :05:37.With the way teenagers are acting in society, putting how the country

:05:38. > :05:42.runs into their hands is just going to make it go downhill.

:05:43. > :05:45.I think we should be able to decide what happens in our local community

:05:46. > :05:48.in East Riding, and in the local government.

:05:49. > :05:50.Labour and the Liberal Democrats are broadly in favour of lowering the

:05:51. > :06:04.voting age, but many I'm too young. It should stay at 18.

:06:05. > :06:16.So, these would`be voters may have to wait a little longer before they

:06:17. > :06:19.have their say at the ballot box. There are claims that new fishing

:06:20. > :06:22.rules being enforced on the East Coast will put fishermen out of

:06:23. > :06:26.business and damage the local tourist industry. Changes are being

:06:27. > :06:29.made to the way sea fish can be caught, which the Environment Agency

:06:30. > :06:32.says will make fishing more sustainable. But those affected say

:06:33. > :06:36.the rules are unworkable and will destroy their livelihoods.

:06:37. > :06:39.It will put a lot of people out of business. There's six of us fishing

:06:40. > :06:42.in this way ` very sustainable. It's been going on for years. Everything

:06:43. > :06:52.has been working fine, and now they're wanting to put these rules

:06:53. > :06:54.in, which they've no right to do. Humberside Police and Crime

:06:55. > :06:57.Commissioner Matthew Grove has confirmed that people living in the

:06:58. > :07:01.force area will pay nearly two percent more for policing from

:07:02. > :07:04.April. Mr Grove says the rise will help protect some jobs and allow

:07:05. > :07:10.investment in new technology. He's pressing ahead despite opposition

:07:11. > :07:13.from the Police and Crime Panel. An inquiry looking into the proposed

:07:14. > :07:15.Lincoln Eastern Bypass has finished today. Highways and planning

:07:16. > :07:19.officers have been hearing people's objections to parts of the planned

:07:20. > :07:25.road. It's hoped the road will ease congestion in the cty.

:07:26. > :07:26.Let's get a look at the weather now ` here's Paul Hudson with the

:07:27. > :07:35.forecast. It's certainly been a wild evening

:07:36. > :07:38.out there. Here are the top gusts that we've recorded. We haven't

:07:39. > :07:41.beaten the Holbeach 75 mph gusts that was reported this afternoon,

:07:42. > :07:48.but Leconfield comes in with 70 mph this evening. It has been a very

:07:49. > :07:51.windy evening. We still have a warning in place, although the top

:07:52. > :08:00.gusts will start to ease very shortly. That's the weather chart

:08:01. > :08:05.right now. The winds slowly moderating after midnight. There

:08:06. > :08:09.will be a few scattered showers, but quite a bit of dry weather, with

:08:10. > :08:14.lowest temperatures at two. Tomorrow, a much better day in

:08:15. > :08:21.general. Mostly dry and bright with just one or two wintry showers.

:08:22. > :08:25.Quite heavy showers pushing across parts of East Yorkshire later in the

:08:26. > :08:28.day. Temperatures around six degrees. Still a strong wind.

:08:29. > :08:35.Friday, a bright start and wind and rain returns.

:08:36. > :08:41.Don't forget to tune in to your local radio station for the latest

:08:42. > :08:43.on the weather, and the impact it's having in East Yorkshire and

:08:44. > :08:47.Lincolnshire. That's all from the late team. Look North is back

:08:48. > :09:08.tomorrow just after 6.25AM ` hope you can join us then. Bye for now.

:09:09. > :09:14.Good evening. What an incredible day of weather it has been. We saw gusts

:09:15. > :09:19.of wind up to 108 mph in the West of Wales. The wind is easing down a

:09:20. > :09:22.notch or two but we still have a high-level amber warning from the

:09:23. > :09:27.Met Office for the strength of the wind over the next few hours over

:09:28. > :09:30.quite a large swathe of the UK. Northern Ireland, northern England

:09:31. > :09:35.and down across Wales, there is still potential for damaging and

:09:36. > :09:38.disruptive gusts of wind. This huge curl of cloud is bringing wet and

:09:39. > :09:43.windy weather across much of the West of Europe. It curls back across

:09:44. > :09:46.the north of the UK and that's the centre of the area of low pressure

:09:47. > :09:50.with the strongest winds just to the south of that. Let's focus on the

:09:51. > :09:54.winds over the next few hours. The ease down by a notch or two but

:09:55. > :10:02.still blustery conditions over most of Wales. High seas around the coast

:10:03. > :10:07.and gusting up to 70 mph. Easily around the 80 mph mark across much

:10:08. > :10:12.of northern England. Across the Pennines this evening and overnight,

:10:13. > :10:15.travelling will be treacherous. Wind and rain at lower levels will

:10:16. > :10:21.produce a lot of spray. You don t have to go to high up the Pennines

:10:22. > :10:25.to see that turned to snow. One way or another, further disruption to

:10:26. > :10:28.travel is more than likely. BBC local radio will keep you up-to date

:10:29. > :10:34.on where you are and where you are trying to get to. The centre of the

:10:35. > :10:37.low system moves northwards. Pretty heavy snow developing across the

:10:38. > :10:41.hills of Scotland with several centimetres by dawn. A bit of snow

:10:42. > :10:45.for Northern Ireland and wintry showers drifting across the southern

:10:46. > :10:48.counties. A risk of ice with most races are seeing the temperatures a

:10:49. > :10:53.degree or so either side of freezing. A cold, windy start

:10:54. > :10:59.Thursday but I think it be a better day. No persistent rain to be seen.

:11:00. > :11:03.There should be some spells of sunshine for many of us, as well.

:11:04. > :11:07.Does it last until the end of the week? I'm afraid not. It goes

:11:08. > :11:13.downhill on Friday. This low pressure will head our way. Lots of

:11:14. > :11:19.isobars on the chart later in the day. Gusts of 60, 70 or 80 mph, with

:11:20. > :11:21.rain spreading northwards. Significant snow for parts of

:11:22. > :11:25.Northern Ireland and southern Scotland. Windy into the start of

:11:26. > :11:30.the weekend. Saturday has outbreaks of rain. On Sunday, something of a

:11:31. > :11:31.respite. The winds will ease down and it should
