:00:00. > :00:00.worth up to ?2000. That is all from us,

:00:00. > :00:10.Good evening and welcome to BBC Look North. The headlines tonight: The

:00:11. > :00:13.owners of Hull City repeat their threat to sell`up if they c`n't

:00:14. > :00:25.change the club's name. Fans groups hit back.

:00:26. > :00:29.This has never been a campahgn to remove Assem Allam from the club. We

:00:30. > :00:32.just want to preserve our n`me. Claims poor rail links are holding

:00:33. > :00:41.back the economy in Lincolnshire. Passengers stranded as a lock gate

:00:42. > :00:46.tears a gash in a North Sea ferry. It had no alternative. If any

:00:47. > :00:47.captain thinks there is dam`ge, he must stop. It was the right

:00:48. > :00:51.decision. Faster than a racehorse ` the new

:00:52. > :01:00.ladybird facts discovered bx a Hull scientist.

:01:01. > :01:12.And after a windy day, we whll have some sunshine. I will have `ll the

:01:13. > :01:15.details. The owners of Hull City say they

:01:16. > :01:19.have been "prejudiced from the outset" as they try to change the

:01:20. > :01:22.name of the club to Hull Tigers Assem and Ehab Allam have rdsponded

:01:23. > :01:25.to a Football Association committee which is recommending their plans to

:01:26. > :01:29.re`brand the club are rejected. Tonight the future ownership of the

:01:30. > :01:34.club is in doubt with chairlan maintaining he will sell if he can't

:01:35. > :01:43.change the name. Our sports reporter Simon Clark has been followhng

:01:44. > :01:48.developments at the KC Stadhum. Behind these walls today, Htll City

:01:49. > :01:55.plan their response to a decision by the committee to recommend reduction

:01:56. > :01:56.`` rejection of the name to Hull Tigers. The statement had sdrious

:01:57. > :02:35.accusations. Today at Wembley, FA said it was

:02:36. > :02:39.happy with its procedures. Dhab Allam and Assem Allam say that they

:02:40. > :02:44.will sell the club if the n`me change goes against him. Fans want

:02:45. > :02:49.him to reconsider. This has never been a campahgn to

:02:50. > :02:54.remove Ehab Allam and Assem Allam. It is a campaign to preservd our

:02:55. > :03:02.name. We are happy with how Assem Allam and Ehab Allam R.N. In the

:03:03. > :03:12.club. `` run at the club. All the fans are very stuck together

:03:13. > :03:16.and have a strong opinion and the FA has listened. Well done to dveryone

:03:17. > :03:24.involved. But if Assem Allam goes ahe`d, who

:03:25. > :03:28.might buy? The current trend that we see is more investment coming from

:03:29. > :03:32.abroad, so I would expect some sort of investment from either the Middle

:03:33. > :03:38.East or the far east if he does decide to sell.

:03:39. > :03:43.The family says that they whll ballot season`ticket holders hoping

:03:44. > :03:52.that that will give them leverage. But if the FA sticks to that

:03:53. > :03:58.recommendation, this club could be under new ownership by the start of

:03:59. > :04:02.next season. Earlier, I spoke to the sports

:04:03. > :04:06.writer David Conn. I started by asking him if Assem Allam whll get

:04:07. > :04:09.the ?100 million or so he ndeds for the club quickly, if he puts it up

:04:10. > :04:13.for sale. He obviously believes that he would

:04:14. > :04:20.put the club up on the markdt and would put the club up for s`le. But

:04:21. > :04:24.you do have to wonder whethdr he would find a buyer who would pay him

:04:25. > :04:31.the price for the club itself and price enough to get... It w`s ? 2

:04:32. > :04:38.million, as the middle of l`st year, in loans to Assem Allam and his

:04:39. > :04:44.business. In the current clhmate and for a club like Hull City.

:04:45. > :04:48.I gather you were quite impressed by the City Till We Die campaign. Did

:04:49. > :04:55.they perhaps do more and make more of an effort than Mr Allam?

:04:56. > :05:00.I hadn't seen what Mr Allam has put into the campaign. I understand that

:05:01. > :05:08.the football club's first chairman went to see the subcommitted. But

:05:09. > :05:11.City Till We Die, which was the coalition of support groups, did it

:05:12. > :05:16.all in their spare time, nobody is getting paid. And there werd some

:05:17. > :05:24.very professional people, some very passionate people. They produced a

:05:25. > :05:27.21 page document and a film. They made very coherent argument about

:05:28. > :05:30.the heritage and the football club, but also about the credibilhty of

:05:31. > :05:34.this case that Mr Allam was making, that changing the name to Thgers

:05:35. > :05:43.would give it a great commercial uplift. It is a highly imprdssive

:05:44. > :05:47.job which impressed the FA's committee and I think they have done

:05:48. > :05:51.themselves and football protd. Do you think that Mr Allam will back

:05:52. > :05:58.down and just give up with this threat of walking away?

:05:59. > :06:02.From my conversations with Lr Allam, who is a very successful businessman

:06:03. > :06:05.in Hull ` he has been in Hull since the 1960s, he has built a vdry

:06:06. > :06:08.successful business making industrial generators and I have

:06:09. > :06:19.visited his factory ` I think he prides himself as being a m`n who

:06:20. > :06:22.doesn't change his mind. But the Football Association is the

:06:23. > :06:25.governing body of football, they have made the decision on the

:06:26. > :06:33.credibility of his case, and he says he will walk away. But if no buyer

:06:34. > :06:41.comes at a price that he wants, would he want to sell Hull City He

:06:42. > :06:45.says he is a local person, he bought it for the community, would he want

:06:46. > :06:48.to see it in trouble? I think he would not. Maybe it is time for

:06:49. > :07:06.everyone to change their minds and get on with the job.

:07:07. > :07:09.Contact details we will givd you in a moment if you want to copx ``

:07:10. > :07:12.contact us. You have been commenting on this

:07:13. > :07:16.story on our Facebook page. Lee says: "I would change the n`me if it

:07:17. > :07:20.brings in more revenue. He has not come across well at all, but let's

:07:21. > :07:23.face it, if not for the All`ms we wouldn't be sitting here talking

:07:24. > :07:26.about a name change as therd would be no club." Ian says: "It's time

:07:27. > :07:29.Allam stopped behaving like a petulant child.

:07:30. > :07:33.He always wants his own way and no one is allowed to question his

:07:34. > :07:43.decision. If you want to sell the club just do it. Just stop showing

:07:44. > :07:44.yourself up!" if you want to give us your thoughts, here are the contact

:07:45. > :08:01.details. In a moment: The couple who raised

:08:02. > :08:10.more than a ?100,000 for Hull Royal Infirmary are awarded the British

:08:11. > :08:13.Empire Medal. There are claims poor rail links in

:08:14. > :08:16.Lincolnshire are a barrier to economic growth in the county.

:08:17. > :08:19.That's according to local MPs who want greater investment in services.

:08:20. > :08:22.It comes as campaigners call for more trains to stop at Gainsborough

:08:23. > :08:30.Central, dubbed the worst r`ilway station in Britain.

:08:31. > :08:33.It's been compared to a station you'd find in a war zone.

:08:34. > :08:36.Gainsborough Central needs ` bit of TLC. Some trains would help, too.

:08:37. > :08:42.It's locked up, apart from on Saturdays, when there are three

:08:43. > :08:47.services. The only way that they could save

:08:48. > :08:52.the line from closing in thd 19 0s was to put Parliamentary tr`in

:08:53. > :08:56.service on. That runs at very infrequent times. There are not many

:08:57. > :08:57.passengers using it, and no money to invest in the station or thd

:08:58. > :09:03.services. And yet the station's right next to

:09:04. > :09:07.town centre and its shops. It has been an underused line for a

:09:08. > :09:11.long time and now we have the perfect opportunity to get lore

:09:12. > :09:14.services to the station. We can attract more people into thd town

:09:15. > :09:17.which will be a boost for the economy.

:09:18. > :09:27.The town does have another train service `` station. This ond has

:09:28. > :09:34.daily trains. But to get for `` from the high street here, it takes 0

:09:35. > :09:38.minutes. So people want better connections between Lincoln and

:09:39. > :09:41.Nottingham and between local stations. People say that journey

:09:42. > :09:50.times are so another 100 ye`rs ago. There is also an application in to

:09:51. > :09:53.get a direct link from Scunthorpe to King's Cross. The government says

:09:54. > :09:58.that it is spending millions of pounds to improve the line. Local

:09:59. > :10:03.MPs though are concerned ye`rs of under`investment have held the

:10:04. > :10:11.county back. We need to revitalise the r`il

:10:12. > :10:17.links. But the area depends on how well we are linked with transport.

:10:18. > :10:21.Road and rail needs to be lhnked in the benefit of Lincolnshire. The

:10:22. > :10:23.government is aware that economic well`being is at the forefront of

:10:24. > :10:26.our minds. While back in Gainsborough, a town

:10:27. > :10:28.with a growing population, Northern Rail says it's working with

:10:29. > :10:36.campaigners to make sure improvements match that growth.

:10:37. > :10:51.This is another story you mhght want to comment on. Do you think our

:10:52. > :10:54.railways are being short ch`nged? A two`year`old boy has died after

:10:55. > :10:57.falling into a pond in East Yorkshire. The toddler was taken by

:10:58. > :11:00.air ambulance to Hull Royal Infirmary yesterday after the

:11:01. > :11:05.incident in Woodmansey near Beverley, but died a short time

:11:06. > :11:12.later. This happened at around ten o'clock

:11:13. > :11:15.at this house. The Ambulancd Service contacted the police after the

:11:16. > :11:22.two`year old boy fell in thd pond. He was taken to hospital, btt later

:11:23. > :11:26.died. At the moment, the de`th is being treated as unexplained. A

:11:27. > :11:31.29`year`old woman was arrested but has been released on bail pdnding

:11:32. > :11:35.further inquiries. It is understood that the family are being hdlped by

:11:36. > :11:39.specially trained police officers and I have been talking to

:11:40. > :11:50.neighbours today, many of whom have only just found out about the

:11:51. > :11:53.tragedy but are very shocked. The University of Hull says it's

:11:54. > :11:56.deeply concerned about the safety of one of its students who may have

:11:57. > :12:00.been aboard the Malaysian Ahrlines flight that has been missing for

:12:01. > :12:03.more than a week. Yue Wench`o is in the final stages of an MSC course at

:12:04. > :12:07.the university's Business School. Someone of the same name and age is

:12:08. > :12:13.on the passenger list for the flight, but it's not been confirmed

:12:14. > :12:16.that it is the same person. The Unite union has announcdd four

:12:17. > :12:19.more strike days in the ongoing dispute with the Yorkshire @mbulance

:12:20. > :12:23.Service. Unite says staff could work ten hours without a meal brdak on

:12:24. > :12:25.some shifts. Managers say steps have been taken to maintain safe and

:12:26. > :12:32.effective services. The next walk`out is planned for Friday.

:12:33. > :12:36.Passengers were left stranddd on board a Hull ferry last night after

:12:37. > :12:39.the ship was forced to return to port. The Pride of Hull suffered

:12:40. > :12:42.minor damage as it left the King George Dock for Zeebrugge. But as

:12:43. > :12:46.Crispin Rolfe reports, experts insist the vessel was right to

:12:47. > :12:51.return to assess the effects of a gouge in the ship's side.

:12:52. > :12:55.Stuck in port late last night. The Pride of York suffered a narrow six

:12:56. > :12:58.foot gouge in its side as it navigated the King George Dock's

:12:59. > :13:01.lock gates. But as repairs were conducted, complaints by passengers

:13:02. > :13:08.that they'd been left stranded as a five hour delay became a 12 hour

:13:09. > :13:16.one. They told us that the boat would be

:13:17. > :13:20.going out at 12:30am. And then they changed that. It was too late for

:13:21. > :13:22.everybody to get transport home And for day trippers to the

:13:23. > :13:27.continent, the overnight ferry's delay means an all too speedy

:13:28. > :13:30.return. We had to go straight back. We could

:13:31. > :13:33.not get off the boat. So for ferry`goers time spent simply

:13:34. > :13:39.on board a floating hotel. This morning though the ferry left for

:13:40. > :13:44.Belgium. It had no water innovative. If any

:13:45. > :13:54.captain thinks there is any damage, he must stop. `` there was no

:13:55. > :13:56.alternative. Safety is the lost important thing, it was the correct

:13:57. > :13:59.decision. Previous ferries the same shze as

:14:00. > :14:02.the Pride of York have all squeezed through Hull's King George Lock over

:14:03. > :14:05.the decades, mostly without incident. But P say last night's

:14:06. > :14:09.accident came after the 180 metre long ferry was scratched by a piece

:14:10. > :14:13.of metal. It left a two metre long scratch, two centimetres dedp in the

:14:14. > :14:22.side of the hull, but one significantly at least six letres

:14:23. > :14:27.above the water line. This is where it scraped thd lock,

:14:28. > :14:33.and you can understand why, because the boat is 25 metres wide, it only

:14:34. > :14:38.has a fee centimetres on either side to clear. The company says that all

:14:39. > :14:40.the repairs have been compldted and they are happy with the state of

:14:41. > :14:43.repair. The ferry company insists this has

:14:44. > :14:46.been a minor incident, and passengers were given the choice

:14:47. > :14:49.whether to still travel. For those day`trippers who have howevdr, it

:14:50. > :15:02.will be a frustrating three days, as this cruise comes straight back

:15:03. > :15:04.overnight from the continent. Still ahead tonight: Why wildlife

:15:05. > :15:13.enthusiasts are buzzing abott ladybirds.

:15:14. > :15:23.We are amazed that they could keep on flying for two hours without

:15:24. > :15:25.stopping. Please send in any pictures that you

:15:26. > :15:45.have. And here is a surprising appearance

:15:46. > :15:53.from the weather. We will gdt an accurate forecast.

:15:54. > :16:05.Yes, it is a nice day, tempdratures possibly 1617 degrees. And xou can

:16:06. > :16:11.see that it will be breezy, this area of low pressure will affect us

:16:12. > :16:17.through Thursday. Wet and whndy weather then. We have had wdt

:16:18. > :16:22.weather today with some showers Still a fewer showers across parts

:16:23. > :16:25.of Lincolnshire, but they whll die away and it looks like a drx night.

:16:26. > :16:34.The breeze will ease down for picking up again and a largdly frost

:16:35. > :16:42.free night with temperatures seven or eight degrees. The sun whll rise

:16:43. > :16:54.in the morning at 706 AM. Hdre are the high tides will stop `` the

:16:55. > :17:01.tides. So, tomorrow, it will be a fine and dry day with decent

:17:02. > :17:06.weather. Some high cloud possibly moving in from the west. Thd

:17:07. > :17:14.temperatures should be around ten or 11 degrees, so 14 or 15 degrees will

:17:15. > :17:21.feel very pleasant. It is possible that it could be 16 or sales `` 17

:17:22. > :17:27.degrees. But then things will go downhill. On Thursday, it whll be a

:17:28. > :17:33.windy day. As the rain moves southwards, it will become very

:17:34. > :17:38.windy. There will be a cold front, so it will be colder on Friday.

:17:39. > :17:47.There will be a frost and also a view showers.

:17:48. > :17:50.I got a message saying that they were worried about the accurate

:17:51. > :18:00.forecast, but they were ple`sed that you were on duty.

:18:01. > :18:05.For the last 15 years they've worked tirelessly, raising more th`n a

:18:06. > :18:08.?130,000 to buy equipment for the Hull Royal Infirmary. Today Ruth and

:18:09. > :18:11.Tony Knowles from Sutton on Sea were publicly rewarded for their efforts.

:18:12. > :18:14.Both were presented with thd British Empire Medal in front of frhends and

:18:15. > :18:16.fellow fundraisers. Our reporter Jake Zuckerman was there to see the

:18:17. > :18:22.ceremony. The unexpected reward for 14 years

:18:23. > :18:28.of hard work. Ruth Knowles `nd Tony Knowles had never asked for any

:18:29. > :18:31.recognition, raising ?130,000 to buy equipment for the hospital, but

:18:32. > :18:38.today they were the centre of attention as they were given a

:18:39. > :18:45.medal. I was really apprehensive this morning when I woke up. I

:18:46. > :18:51.thought, what will be day bring But every minute has been great and I

:18:52. > :18:57.have loved it. When we started this 15 years ago, we never thought that

:18:58. > :19:00.this would happen. We cannot thank people enough for help they have

:19:01. > :19:07.helped us. Their connection began when their

:19:08. > :19:15.daughter Emma was treated for a rain infection. Sadly doctors cotld not

:19:16. > :19:25.save her, but they have helped many others. `` a brain infection.

:19:26. > :19:30.They have helped us by lots of things that are helpful for our

:19:31. > :19:36.patients, not the things th`t the trust might pay for, but thhngs that

:19:37. > :19:40.are really helpful. It is rdally important that people do thhs,

:19:41. > :19:43.because the whole point of living in a community is to help the

:19:44. > :19:48.community. The couple say that they will try

:19:49. > :19:56.and continue to do as much `s they can.

:19:57. > :19:59.A petition has been handed hn to Downing Street on behalf of six men,

:20:00. > :20:03.including three from East Yorkshire, being held in an Indian prison. Ray

:20:04. > :20:06.Tindall from Hull, Paul Towdrs from Pocklington and Nicholas Silpson,

:20:07. > :20:08.who grew up in Cottingham, were providing anti`piracy protection for

:20:09. > :20:19.an American company when thdir ship was detained by Indian authorities

:20:20. > :20:24.last October. We are here because we are trying to

:20:25. > :20:31.get our boys out of jail whdre they are in India. We don't think it is

:20:32. > :20:35.right, but we're not coming to shout and scream. We are asking dhplomats

:20:36. > :20:43.to do the diplomatic thing `nd the best.

:20:44. > :20:46.One of Lincoln's most well`known restaurants, The Barge on the

:20:47. > :20:50.Brayford, has been badly dalaged by fire. Crews were sent to thd

:20:51. > :20:53.historic waterfront area of the city during the early hours of this

:20:54. > :21:02.morning. Police say they ard not treating the blaze as suspicious.

:21:03. > :21:07.A big response to our story of a mother of a Royal Marine who was

:21:08. > :21:12.killed in Afghanistan who s`ys that the British withdrawal from the

:21:13. > :21:15.country is a mistake. Gerald from Lincoln says that the decishon to

:21:16. > :21:56.join: Thank you for those messages.

:21:57. > :22:00.Lincolnshire skier Jade Ethdrington has been celebrating her success

:22:01. > :22:03.over tea with the Prime Minhster. Jade, from Bourne and her gtide

:22:04. > :22:06.Caroline Powell went to Downing Street earlier after arriving back

:22:07. > :22:09.in the UK last night. They became Britain's most successful fdmale

:22:10. > :22:18.Winter Paralympic skiers evdr at the games in Sochi.

:22:19. > :22:22.I think he was very happy to see us and he said that we did the country

:22:23. > :22:28.proud and it was good for us to be here with the team and with our

:22:29. > :22:36.colours, and we had a surprhse from James scored in, which was funny. ``

:22:37. > :22:42.James Cord and. It was a re`lly good day.

:22:43. > :22:49.I am hoping that I will meet her soon.

:22:50. > :22:52.Hull City's George Boyd has been charged with misconduct by the FA

:22:53. > :22:55.after allegedly spitting at Manchester City's Joe Hart. Boyd has

:22:56. > :22:59.until tomorrow evening to rdspond to the charge, which was not sden by

:23:00. > :23:04.match officials but caught on camera during the Tiger's 2`0 defe`t

:23:05. > :23:07.against City over the weekend. Two of our local football tdams are

:23:08. > :23:11.playing this evening. Lincoln City travel to Braintree. There will be

:23:12. > :23:17.full match commentary on BBC Radio Lincolnshire with the build up

:23:18. > :23:19.beginning at seven o clock. While Grimsby Town make the trip to Forest

:23:20. > :23:29.Green Rovers. BBC Radio Humberside will be following that match which

:23:30. > :23:33.kicks off at 7:45pm. The draw for the fourth round of the

:23:34. > :23:36.Rugby League Challenge Cup has been made. Hull FC will play the Salford

:23:37. > :23:45.Red Devils, whilst Hull Kingston Rovers take on Warrington. Both of
