:00:00. > :00:00.chilly old week, George. Rais thank you. That's all from the BBC news

:00:00. > :00:10.Good evening and welcome to BBC Look North. The headlines tonight. An

:00:11. > :00:16.apology from the councillor who tweeted a picture of lingerhe models

:00:17. > :00:25.to warn of sexism in politics. The father fighting to get his xoung

:00:26. > :00:28.family out of Crimea. I havd two sons they are, one of whom hs a

:00:29. > :00:33.British decision. I want thdm here, I want them safe stop Putting their

:00:34. > :00:39.products on a world stage ` the local food businesses worth ?3

:00:40. > :00:44.billion a year. And why a sdaside town's new streets could be named

:00:45. > :00:45.after Beatles songs. The weekend forecast follows in 15

:00:46. > :00:58.minutes. A senior Lincolnshire Conservative

:00:59. > :01:01.Councillor has apologised after he posted a picture of scantilx`clad

:01:02. > :01:04.women on social media to make a point about all women short lists in

:01:05. > :01:07.politics. Richard Davies, who represents a ward in Granth`m and is

:01:08. > :01:10.the Chairman of the local Conservative Association, s`ys on

:01:11. > :01:13.reflection it was wrong to post the image but says Labour's seldction

:01:14. > :01:29.policy of only selecting wolen to run as candidates in some sdats is

:01:30. > :01:32.wrong. Sarah Corker has this report. It's this image of eight gl`mour

:01:33. > :01:40.models ` posted by a Linconlshire County Councillor ` that's caused

:01:41. > :01:42.offence today. Richard Davids, tweeting about the all`female

:01:43. > :01:46.selection process for the L`bour candidate for Lincoln, Lucy Rigby,

:01:47. > :01:49.asked if it was an actual photo of the hustings. To which Lucy Rigby

:01:50. > :01:53.responded, "And people question why aren't more women in politics?

:01:54. > :01:56.Then Lincoln MP Karl McCartney tweeted, "Guess those with sense of

:01:57. > :01:59.humour will appreciate." Others need to "get over themselves." Ltcy Rigby

:02:00. > :02:10.was selected in 2012 from a short list of four women. Unfortunately,

:02:11. > :02:14.there are still some sections of the Conservative Party that havd a very

:02:15. > :02:21.odd attitude towards women working, towards women in leadership roles,

:02:22. > :02:28.women in politics. County Councillor Rosanne Kirk was also on th`t short

:02:29. > :02:34.list. We want to head towards equality, and that is one w`y to get

:02:35. > :02:38.there by using all women short lists. But what he said was very

:02:39. > :02:46.offensive. Earlier Mr Davis told me he hadn't meant to upset anxone I

:02:47. > :02:51.am very sorry to have caused offence and have apologised for that. What

:02:52. > :02:57.we want is an opportunity to have a debate about all women short lists.

:02:58. > :03:01.If you discriminate against one group of people on the grounds of

:03:02. > :03:05.their gender, that is discrhmination and it should not be allowed. But in

:03:06. > :03:12.Lincoln today most felt it was inappropriate behaviour. I think

:03:13. > :03:18.he's being sexist. You have to think first before you post. Therd's long

:03:19. > :03:22.been a push to attract more women into politics. But Conservatives

:03:23. > :03:25.have resisted such a move to all female short lists for prospective

:03:26. > :03:30.MPs arguing candidates should be selected on merit. There ard not

:03:31. > :03:34.enough women Tory MPs. If the Tories have less women after the ndxt

:03:35. > :03:38.election and stored form a lajority, it is blatantly obvious that the

:03:39. > :03:43.people of this country do not think the Tory party is sufficiently

:03:44. > :03:47.representative of women and they should then considered it. The

:03:48. > :03:50.photo's now been removed, Mr Davis maintains all women short lhsts are

:03:51. > :03:56.sexist but does admit glamotr pics don't help. Sarah Corker, BBC Look

:03:57. > :04:00.North. We want to hear from you on this

:04:01. > :04:02.story, and the conduct of Rhchard Davies. Maybe you have a vidw on all

:04:03. > :04:26.women short lists? In a moment... Jade Etherington

:04:27. > :04:31.joins me to talk about her record medal haul at the Winter

:04:32. > :04:35.Paralympics. A father from Louth in Lincolnshire,

:04:36. > :04:39.whose family is living in Crimea, is fighting to bring them safely to the

:04:40. > :04:41.UK. The region is currently experiencing conflict betwedn the

:04:42. > :04:48.Ukrainian and Russian governments, after Russia took over Crimda. Ian

:04:49. > :04:53.Stacy says he's terrified for the safety of his wife, ex`wife and two

:04:54. > :05:01.sons. Kate Sweeting reports. Hello Nadia, how are things? Ian

:05:02. > :05:05.Stacy spends his time waiting for news. After ten years living in

:05:06. > :05:08.Ukraine, he's back in Louth to get medical treatment, leaving his wife

:05:09. > :05:16.and two sons behind in Crimda. The border control now is getting very

:05:17. > :05:20.tenuous. At the border crossing between the Russian and the Ukraine.

:05:21. > :05:24.Since Ian left Crimea, which was part of Ukraine, it's been taken

:05:25. > :05:28.over by Russia and he fears stands on the brink of civil war. He wants

:05:29. > :05:31.to get his wife, his youngest son, Timon, who is five, his elddst son,

:05:32. > :05:37.Aaron, who is eight and Aaron's mother out of the country btt that's

:05:38. > :05:42.proving difficult. Ian's falily lived near Sevastopol in thd south

:05:43. > :05:46.of Crimea. In order to secure a visa they would need to travel to Kiev

:05:47. > :05:48.for an interview and then home again. That's a 40`hour trahn

:05:49. > :05:59.journey, the equivalent distance of Louth to Vienna. Earlier Ian's ex

:06:00. > :06:28.wife Nadia told me that journey isn't safe.

:06:29. > :06:34.Ian wants the Foreign Officd to wave the rules, and allow his falily to

:06:35. > :06:37.travel to the UK and sort the paperwork out here. But the Foreign

:06:38. > :06:41.Office said that's impossible. In a statement it said, "We apprdciate

:06:42. > :06:44.this is a difficult time for Mr Stacy and his family. We have been

:06:45. > :06:46.in regular contact with Mr Stacy providing consular assistance,

:06:47. > :06:49.including Home Office guidance on the visa application process. We

:06:50. > :06:53.stand ready to provide further assistance as necessary." I have two

:06:54. > :06:57.sons there, one of who is a British citizen. Yes, I can go therd, yes I

:06:58. > :07:01.can bring him out of the cotntry. But, I don't know whether you have

:07:02. > :07:04.children, how would you feel if one of your children was ripped away

:07:05. > :07:08.from you, if you do have chhldren? Ian wants the Foreign Officd to

:07:09. > :07:11.waive the rules and allow hhs family to travel to the UK and sort the

:07:12. > :07:14.paperwork out here. The Fordign Office said that's impossible. In a

:07:15. > :07:18.statement it said... The government has to draw a line somewherd, it

:07:19. > :07:21.can't allow everybody into TK. I couldn't agree more. I would fully

:07:22. > :07:24.support that. But within thd rules there must be mitigating

:07:25. > :07:28.circumstances. How worried `re you for them? Very. They don't deserve

:07:29. > :07:31.it. I want them here. I want them safe. Ian Stacey ending that report

:07:32. > :07:34.by Kate Sweeting. Kate's with me now. Can Ian go and see his family,

:07:35. > :07:38.if they can't come here? Well until a few weeks ago Crimea

:07:39. > :07:41.was part of Ukraine, but we've now heard that Ukrainian troops have

:07:42. > :07:44.pulled out of Crimea meaning it s under Russian control ` effdctively

:07:45. > :07:47.a part of Russia. That means travelling in and out of Crhmea

:07:48. > :07:51.could be very difficult, particularly for Ian living in the

:07:52. > :07:55.UK, he might not be able to get to the area at all to see his family.

:07:56. > :07:58.As you heard in the report, the Foreign Office isn't denying Ian's

:07:59. > :08:01.family access to the UK, it just wants them to go through thd proper

:08:02. > :08:05.procedures and paperwork. Btt Ian says that 40`hour round trip to Kiev

:08:06. > :08:08.for the visa application process just isn't practical or safd, they'd

:08:09. > :08:12.have to travel through armed border crossings. He wants them to get to

:08:13. > :08:15.Kiev, onto a plane to Britahn, where his lawyer is waiting to do the

:08:16. > :08:25.paperwork. Otherwise he could face months or years without seehng his

:08:26. > :08:29.family. Part of Hull's Holderness road was

:08:30. > :08:32.closed this morning after a member of the public brought what they

:08:33. > :08:35.believed to be an explosive device into the Tower Grange Policd

:08:36. > :08:39.station. The device which w`s found in a nearby garden was made safe by

:08:40. > :08:41.a bomb disposal unit. The road has now reopened.

:08:42. > :08:43.The union representing some Yorkshire Ambulance Service staff

:08:44. > :08:46.says they're being forced to strike because the management refuses to

:08:47. > :08:50.meet them. It's the tenth strike arranged by the Unite union ` which

:08:51. > :08:53.says its members have concerns over new working times. The industrial

:08:54. > :08:55.action will end at eight o'clock tonight.

:08:56. > :08:58.Two divers had to be rescued by the Humber lifeboat off the coast at

:08:59. > :09:01.Withernsea after their boat lost power and drifted away from them

:09:02. > :09:03.yesterday. The crew used thdir emergency radio transmitters and

:09:04. > :09:07.hi`visibility markers to attract attention.

:09:08. > :09:09.Grimsby's new bus station is being used for the first time. Moving the

:09:10. > :09:12.station is part of a ?5 million scheme to improve the town centre.

:09:13. > :09:15.It's also been announced a new cinema and restaurants are planned

:09:16. > :09:23.at the Freshney Place shopphng centre.

:09:24. > :09:27.One of Hull's museums is behng closed to the public, so thd rest of

:09:28. > :09:30.the city's council`run musetms don't have to reduce their opening hours.

:09:31. > :09:34.Hull City Council says it m`de the decision so it didn't have to cut

:09:35. > :09:37.the budget of its flagship luseums. But it's not ruled out findhng money

:09:38. > :09:48.to reopen the Hands On History museum at weekends, as Anne`Marie

:09:49. > :09:52.Tasker reports. From next week, the Hands On History

:09:53. > :09:55.museum will only be open to organised school trips. The city

:09:56. > :09:58.council says the change will save ?150,000 a year, without having an

:09:59. > :10:12.impact on the city's flagshhp museums. The demand for the others

:10:13. > :10:17.is absolutely beyond belief. At half`time, over 3000 young people

:10:18. > :10:23.went into the maritime musetm. But I haven't left it at that. Wh`t we're

:10:24. > :10:27.looking at is can we squeezd the budget again in the next few months

:10:28. > :10:32.to find ways and means of opening the museum at weekends. But people

:10:33. > :10:37.in Hull are divided over whdther any culture budget should be cut, ahead

:10:38. > :10:48.of it becoming City of Culttre. If they want to keep that name, they

:10:49. > :10:59.should live up to it. The p`vements, you can trip up and fall all over

:11:00. > :11:04.them. Campaigners are fighthng the decision, with more than 500 people

:11:05. > :11:07.signing a petition. Food producers from East Yorkshire

:11:08. > :11:10.and Lincolnshire are trying to boost their sales to national and

:11:11. > :11:12.international buyers. They're at the country's biggest food show in

:11:13. > :11:15.Birmingham. It's estimated the industry is worth ?3.5 billhon

:11:16. > :11:24.across Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire... Employing around 8 ,000

:11:25. > :11:29.people in this area. Lincolnshire alone produces one sixth of

:11:30. > :11:32.Britain's crops. And the port of Grimsby handles 70% of the country's

:11:33. > :11:36.fish. Our Business Correspondent, Paul Murphy, has been at thd trade

:11:37. > :11:39.show in Birmingham, and sent this report.

:11:40. > :11:44.If you can't eat it it's probably not here. This is a big datd in the

:11:45. > :11:47.diary for food producers, a chance for them to tell their storx to

:11:48. > :11:52.industry buyers, the people who keep the food economy going. This is

:11:53. > :11:55.quite a challenge. Once you're outside the county boundarids it's

:11:56. > :11:58.difficult to get across what the product is. Everybody in

:11:59. > :12:02.Lincolnshire knows what Plulbread is and everybody has their own ideas

:12:03. > :12:06.what it should taste like. So, getting it out to other counties is

:12:07. > :12:09.a challenge. This Grimsby`b`sed processor has been preparing for

:12:10. > :12:16.today's show for weeks. Chapman s fishcakes is well known in the town

:12:17. > :12:22.but they want a bigger markdt. It's getting our name with the brand We

:12:23. > :12:25.are meeting new clients, hopefully, as well as seeing clients that we

:12:26. > :12:28.are already supplying. Figures published today are showing a sharp

:12:29. > :12:31.rise in UK food exports and events like this one are giving local

:12:32. > :12:42.producers, in particular, a chance to showcase their products to bigger

:12:43. > :12:47.markets. Among them are the east Yorkshire farmers bypassing the

:12:48. > :12:52.supermarkets to sell their peas There are 40 farmers in this group.

:12:53. > :13:01.One of the farmers owns the factory. We are trying to bring to the

:13:02. > :13:17.marketplace the first farmer`owned brands of frozen vegetables.

:13:18. > :13:25.70% of the country's fish is processed in Grimsby. We're looking

:13:26. > :13:31.at not just farming is a se`t on the ground, is probably worth ldss. The

:13:32. > :13:37.value added is actually in food processing. This two`day show will

:13:38. > :13:41.bring in thousands of visitors and our local food producers will be

:13:42. > :13:55.hoping that some of them will become customers.

:13:56. > :13:57.Still ahead tonight: A seashde town decides to pick Beatles songs as

:13:58. > :14:27.names for new streets. Marjorie and Michael have s`id, we

:14:28. > :14:31.have noticed that Paul must have a secret yearning to play the

:14:32. > :14:39.bagpipes, because he seems to be practising with his left arl pumping

:14:40. > :14:45.action. We are watching now. It is cold flapping. I'm gohng to be

:14:46. > :14:46.self`conscious now. Pump away!

:14:47. > :14:57.Shut up. Patchy rain in the West, mostly dry

:14:58. > :15:06.and used. This weather front will grind to a halt. The caused should

:15:07. > :15:16.stay dry and write later on. Has been a beautiful day. It was `4 last

:15:17. > :15:21.night, but temperatures havd recovered. Watch this weathdr

:15:22. > :15:30.fronts, because it will pollution. Clear this evening and clear first

:15:31. > :15:37.time tonight. Let's have a look at those minimum temperatures. Down to

:15:38. > :15:45.two Celsius, so there will be a fairly widespread ground frost. The

:15:46. > :15:55.sun will rise in the morning at 5:53am. It's cloudy start, patchy

:15:56. > :16:11.rain in western areas, but strive towards the coast. Some sunshine

:16:12. > :16:26.breaking through. The top temperatures, the breeze will be

:16:27. > :16:28.light. Nine Celsius. A lot of cloud on Friday with the risk of patchy

:16:29. > :16:42.rain heading in from the east. Sorry, I mist the forecast, I was

:16:43. > :16:48.looking at the arm. See you tomorrow.

:16:49. > :16:51.Plans are being made in Bourne to celebrate the success of thd

:16:52. > :17:00.Paralympic skier Jade Etherhngton. A Civic Reception will be held at the

:17:01. > :17:03.end of the month. Jade ` and her guide Caroline Powell ` won three

:17:04. > :17:07.silvers and a bronze at the Winter Paralympics in Russia. In a minute

:17:08. > :17:09.I'll be speaking to Jade, btt first Gemma Dawson takes a look at her

:17:10. > :17:16.recent success. We first met Jade in 2012, carrying

:17:17. > :17:18.the Olympic torch in Lincoln. After losing her guide, success sdemed

:17:19. > :17:24.unlikely, until she met Caroline Powell. The pair spent months

:17:25. > :17:29.training for the Winter gamds. Jade is partially sighted, so relies on

:17:30. > :17:34.Caroline to guide her round the course. On day one at Sochi,

:17:35. > :17:44.success, silver in the women's downhill. I am just really dxcited.

:17:45. > :17:52.I am an official Paralympic. Back in Lincoln, Jade's sisters watched her

:17:53. > :17:58.compete. To get two medals hn two races, that is a great achidvement,

:17:59. > :18:05.and hopefully she will get lore Success continued. Two more medals,

:18:06. > :18:12.making Jade and Caroline thd most successful women in British

:18:13. > :18:15.Paralympic history. We achidved so much, I just need to think `bout the

:18:16. > :18:22.success of celebrates what we have achieved.

:18:23. > :18:30.Celebrations continued back in London with tea at number tdn with

:18:31. > :18:35.the Prime Minister. Jade and her medals are with me here

:18:36. > :18:45.in the studio. I can't belidve I have the bees are. I did tell

:18:46. > :18:52.people, but nobody believes me. How does it feel to be the most

:18:53. > :18:58.successful woman in Winter Paralympic history? It's am`zing to

:18:59. > :19:03.think I did it in my first xear especially when I didn't have died a

:19:04. > :19:09.year ago and was suffering from injuries. It is thanks to the

:19:10. > :19:16.support from people at home, believing in me and Carolind. And

:19:17. > :19:22.you're back. They lost your luggage, so glad you didn't put

:19:23. > :19:29.these in the luggage. Yes, but I got it back. I cannot imagine what it is

:19:30. > :19:38.like hurtling down there was 5% vision. What messages are you

:19:39. > :19:48.getting on Caroline? A lot of the time she is just shouting at me to

:19:49. > :20:05.hurry up. She shouts Tuck, tax, tax. She says turning and ttrn and

:20:06. > :20:13.jump or dive. You have an e`rpiece and she has a microphone? Yds, I can

:20:14. > :20:24.talk to her and she has the same, so I can tell her when to go or slow

:20:25. > :20:29.down. Sometimes in slalom, the radio sometimes comes off, is but Caroline

:20:30. > :20:41.is pretty loud, so I can sthll hear her. We met in April in Lincoln and

:20:42. > :20:49.we only started skiing in Atgust. We skied in August and I had that goal

:20:50. > :20:58.and Caroline learns to want that goal as well. You have to h`ve such

:20:59. > :21:03.enormous trust in that person. I am still my own person, I can stop when

:21:04. > :21:16.ever I want, but we both trtst each other. And she gets medals `s well?

:21:17. > :21:26.Yes, so we have eight betwedn us. And you missed called by a very

:21:27. > :21:32.small amount. Yes, we skied hardest and we did miss out on the gold but

:21:33. > :21:39.we still won for medals. And you've got to civic reception. Thank you

:21:40. > :21:43.very much indeed for coming in. You had better take these. You will

:21:44. > :21:48.certainly have muscles carrxing them around.

:21:49. > :21:51.Hull City look to be almost safe in the Premier League after be`ting

:21:52. > :21:55.West Brom on Saturday. The Tigers 2`0 win means they are now dight

:21:56. > :21:57.points above the relegation zone ahead of Wednesday's trip to Stoke

:21:58. > :22:02.City. Scunthorpe United havd moved into second in league two after a

:22:03. > :22:05.one ` nil win over Burton at the weekend. The Iron go into tomorrow's

:22:06. > :22:23.match away at Cheltenham on the back of an unbeaten run of 22 gales. I

:22:24. > :22:28.spoke to the players and our focus now is Cheltenham. It has to remain

:22:29. > :22:34.that way. The bigger picturd is obviously promotion. The short`term

:22:35. > :22:38.goal is Cheltenham. Hull KR recorded their first win of the superleague

:22:39. > :22:42.season with a 16 ` zero victory at home to the Bradford Bulls. The

:22:43. > :22:45.Robins took the lead with a try from Omari Caro and remained the dominant

:22:46. > :22:49.side throughout. The result lifts Hull KR up to 11th. A disappointing

:22:50. > :22:52.result for Hull FC ` who suffered their first home loss of thd season.

:22:53. > :22:56.The black and whites lost sdven ` nil to Widnes Vikings. It's the

:22:57. > :23:00.first time in nearly three xears Hull FC have failed to scord in a

:23:01. > :23:03.Super League match. Streets on a new Bridlington housing estate could be

:23:04. > :23:08.named after famous songs by the Beatles. The town council ndeds to

:23:09. > :23:12.come up with a selection of street names which would be used in future

:23:13. > :23:16.housing developments. Beatlds songs may seem an unusual idea....but we

:23:17. > :23:28.do already have quite a few weird street names, as Jo Makel rdports.

:23:29. > :23:37.In Bridlington they have sole saintly streets and they have some

:23:38. > :23:40.stately streets. New houses which could be built here on the town s
