:00:00. > 3:59:59all from us. On BBC Two, Newsnight last the full version of that

:00:00. > :00:15.interview with Paul Flowers, Good evening. You are watchhng BBC

:00:16. > :00:19.Look North, coming live frol the banks of the Humber. Our news

:00:20. > :00:22.tonight is dominated by the confirmation that the energx giant

:00:23. > :00:25.Siemens will be going ahead with plans to build one of Europd's

:00:26. > :00:33.biggest wind energy factorids just a stone's throw from where I `m

:00:34. > :00:39.standing right now. Siemens is investing ?160 million. It will

:00:40. > :00:44.create more than a thousand jobs over two sites, one in Hull, one at

:00:45. > :00:52.Paull in East Yorkshire. Working with ports firm ABP, the total

:00:53. > :00:55.investment will be ?310 million Speaking in Hull earlier, Prime

:00:56. > :01:09.Minister David Cameron said it would transform the regional economy. The

:01:10. > :01:12.deal is finally done. After years of uncertainty, the Prime Minister was

:01:13. > :01:15.inspecting the site which whll become a world leading manufacturing

:01:16. > :01:22.centre for the offshore wind industry. It is a fantastic day for

:01:23. > :01:32.the city, for Humberside and for Britain. We are going to be making

:01:33. > :01:37.the turbines here in Britain. The development is centred on

:01:38. > :01:44.Aleksandra. . There are also plans for a new rotor blade manuf`cturing

:01:45. > :01:50.plant to the east of the city. It is a fantastic opportunity. It is going

:01:51. > :01:57.to create 1,000 jobs. It is the hundred million pounds in modern

:01:58. > :02:03.investment. Hopefully, we whll begin construction work on the amount of

:02:04. > :02:08.jobs will increase. It will be a yes and I think we will find out

:02:09. > :02:15.shortly. I have spent a lot of time on the telephone lobbying vdry hard

:02:16. > :02:23.for this. Despite the false dawns, the news was welcomed by thd MPs of

:02:24. > :02:31.the local area. The decision by Siemens India investment in

:02:32. > :02:41.renewables will make the city a centre of energy as well as culture.

:02:42. > :02:46.It was unexpected, the decision to bring across blade manufacttrer from

:02:47. > :02:56.Denmark. It was also welcomd news for the council. I think evdrybody

:02:57. > :03:02.feels that now. City of culture and know this centre for manufacturing.

:03:03. > :03:09.This is a great decision th`t Siemens have made. After ye`rs of

:03:10. > :03:14.gloomy news, there is a belhef that the wind of change is sweephng

:03:15. > :03:18.through the Humberside region. It has taken years to get to today's

:03:19. > :03:21.announcement. It was back in January 2011 when Siemens and ABP fhrst went

:03:22. > :03:25.public with their plans for Hull. Planning permission was granted by

:03:26. > :03:28.the council in May 2012, but then, in October the same year, it was

:03:29. > :03:34.announced that the deal had been delayed until 2013. Then, it all

:03:35. > :03:38.went quiet. That was until this morning's announcement that the deal

:03:39. > :03:41.had finally been signed. Our business correspondent Paull Murphy

:03:42. > :03:50.has been looking at the imp`ct this could have for jobs and loc`l

:03:51. > :03:55.industry. This morning 's announcement brings with it a real

:03:56. > :04:01.sense of a new beginning for Hull. ?300 million buys two factories in

:04:02. > :04:09.1,000 jobs, but that is not all As for the next`generation, yot will

:04:10. > :04:17.also detect a new`found sense of security. I would love to work for

:04:18. > :04:22.Siemens. It is a huge company. It is great news for everybody. As well as

:04:23. > :04:36.a factory in whole, they ard going to build a plate making factory

:04:37. > :04:39.nearby. I think Siemens havhng made this huge statement, it may

:04:40. > :04:44.encourage others, there could be a knock`on effect. Of course,

:04:45. > :04:54.Humberside has a big industry before. The economic aspects of its

:04:55. > :05:01.collapse are still being felt. But today, it is also about a ndw

:05:02. > :05:07.attitude. It means that loc`l people can stay locally and hopefully get

:05:08. > :05:13.the best jobs. I am very happy to have this opportunity. We c`n offer

:05:14. > :05:20.a wide range of programmes which will give the skills requirdd. We

:05:21. > :05:26.want to talk about the future and what we can do to make the college

:05:27. > :05:33.better. Overflow 6,000 of these giant machines are planned for the

:05:34. > :05:42.North Sea. The proposal will mean other companies will need to move to

:05:43. > :05:47.the area to help Siemens re`lise the fact that the factory June. Looking

:05:48. > :05:55.at Germany, offshore wind h`s taken off from bust to boom in under one

:05:56. > :06:00.decades. Could you make a prediction about the economic impact? H hate

:06:01. > :06:07.doing these predictions cause you always get caught out. It whll have

:06:08. > :06:13.a huge impact, it will go rhght down into the workforce. The hard work

:06:14. > :06:18.begins now, reinventing the local economy. The sooner these ghant

:06:19. > :06:23.structures will become a faliliar sight and once again, the pdople of

:06:24. > :06:26.Humberside are looking out to sea for the future.

:06:27. > :06:30.Scunthorpe United extended their unbeaten run to 23 games, whth a win

:06:31. > :06:34.at Cheltenham tonight. Sam Winnall scored both the Iron's goal in the

:06:35. > :06:43.2`0 win. Meanwhile, Grimsby Town lost 2` at

:06:44. > :06:45.home to Luton in the Conferdnce Let us get a look at the we`ther

:06:46. > :06:57.now, with Paull Hudson. Good evening. It is fairly puiet out

:06:58. > :07:01.there this evening. A touch of ground frost in places. 12 showers

:07:02. > :07:07.in the south of the region overnight, but largely dry. Patchy

:07:08. > :07:11.fog will clear tomorrow. Thd odd shower around tomorrow. But it will

:07:12. > :07:17.go downhill later, with this weather front moving in from the North Sea.

:07:18. > :07:20.A very chilly feel, with temperatures just getting up to

:07:21. > :07:30.eight Celsius. That is all from the late tdam. It

:07:31. > :07:33.is a Dave when Siemens confronted going to make a major investment in

:07:34. > :07:36.might be wintry. Feeling chilly at 10 degrees. The outlook, it stays

:07:37. > :07:42.chilly and temperatures look like they will pick up towards the eight

:07:43. > :07:46.-- weekend. In early spring, a bit of sunshine

:07:47. > :07:51.makes the difference. Today we had some sunshine in the far east of the

:07:52. > :07:55.UK and in the far west. In Northern Ireland and East Anglia,

:07:56. > :07:59.temperatures climbed into the teens. But for most of us, it was gloomy

:08:00. > :08:04.and temperatures were at sixes and sevens. Single figure temperatures

:08:05. > :08:09.will feature heavily over the next few days. We are already seeing the

:08:10. > :08:13.weather coming in from the east pushing the weather to the West so

:08:14. > :08:19.we will see showers continuing in the night. Isolated showers. Most

:08:20. > :08:23.towns and cities just about avoiding a frost but in rural areas we will

:08:24. > :08:24.seek pockets of frost
