:00:00. > :00:07.tomorrow. That's it.

:00:08. > :00:11.Good evening. The Environment Agency has begun pumping hundreds of

:00:12. > :00:14.thousands of tonnes of sand onto Lincolnshire's beaches to help shore

:00:15. > :00:17.up flood defences along the coast, work it says is vital to help

:00:18. > :00:20.protect communities. Although beaches are replenished annually,

:00:21. > :00:23.this year more sand is needed after December's tidal surge which

:00:24. > :00:30.stripped a large quantity from the county's coastline. Jake Zuckerman

:00:31. > :00:33.reports. For 20 years now, Lincolnshire's

:00:34. > :00:37.beaches have undergone annual repair and restoration. Sand dredged from

:00:38. > :00:42.the sea bed is pumped onshore to replace that which the sea has

:00:43. > :00:46.washed away. Without the scheme, the beach here would be reduced to bare

:00:47. > :00:49.clay. As well as making the beaches more attractive for visitors, the

:00:50. > :01:00.sand helps protect sea defences, absorbing the power of the ocean.

:01:01. > :01:08.And on and on the beach because it reduces the wave energy so also

:01:09. > :01:12.reduces the erosion of the sea. It offers protection to 30,000

:01:13. > :01:15.properties and 30,000 hectares of agricultural land. This year the

:01:16. > :01:18.beach replenishment will cost ?8.4 million, almost ?2.5 million more

:01:19. > :01:26.than normal, thanks to damage caused by December's tidal surge. It shows

:01:27. > :01:30.just how vital the beach replenishment scheme is when it

:01:31. > :01:34.comes to protecting coastal communities from flooding and this

:01:35. > :01:40.year of the scheme will see 520,000 cubic metres of sand pumped onto

:01:41. > :01:42.their stretch of beach between Mablethorpe and Skegness. Here in

:01:43. > :01:51.Mablethorpe, businesses like this one say it's vital for tourism. We

:01:52. > :01:55.have got a fabulous beach. If we have not got the beach for people to

:01:56. > :01:59.travel on, Mablethorpe would be dead. It is the only reason for

:02:00. > :02:01.people to come here. On Lincolnshire's East coast, thousands

:02:02. > :02:05.of homes, businesses and caravans are at risk of flooding. Beach

:02:06. > :02:09.restoration is an important part of the solution. Jake Zuckerman, BBC

:02:10. > :02:12.Look North, Mablethorpe. A second person has died following a

:02:13. > :02:17.crash in Lincolnshire on Good Friday. The 16`year`old boy from

:02:18. > :02:24.Lincoln was killed when two cars and a van collided on the A1104 at

:02:25. > :02:27.Saleby Near Alford. A 70`year`old woman also died in the crash, and

:02:28. > :02:38.six people remain in hospital with serious injuries ` among them is an

:02:39. > :02:42.11`year`old boy. This was a large`scale incident and

:02:43. > :02:48.it required a coordinated approach with emergency services involving

:02:49. > :02:52.five Ian ambulances. `` Ian ambulances. It was flagged by many

:02:53. > :02:55.as a dress rehearsal for Hull City's FA Cup final match against Arsenal

:02:56. > :02:58.in May. But this afternoon's Premier League

:02:59. > :03:01.3`0 defeat has left Steve Bruce rueing missed chances and Tigers

:03:02. > :03:09.fans hoping they can turn their fortunes around next time the two

:03:10. > :03:12.sides meet. They are now hoping they can turn their fortunes around.

:03:13. > :03:16.A game touted as a preview to next month's FA Cup final, the Tigers

:03:17. > :03:19.will be hoping for better fortune come the 17th of May though. The

:03:20. > :03:21.advertising boards took centre stage causing a delay, but despite the

:03:22. > :03:25.disruption Hull started well pressing Arsenal high up the pitch

:03:26. > :03:30.and almost getting their reward with this Nikica Jelavic chance. But 31

:03:31. > :03:33.minutes into the match and the Gunners asserted their dominance,

:03:34. > :03:38.picking City's defence apart and allowing Aaron Ramsay to put them

:03:39. > :03:42.one up. Then they doubled their lead just before half time with a quick

:03:43. > :03:46.thinking strike from Lukas Podolski. That same man added more misery

:03:47. > :03:51.early in the second half picking up this rebound and slotting home to

:03:52. > :03:54.make the final score 3`0 to Arsenal. Although the Tigers fans were

:03:55. > :04:04.disappointed with the score, many were still optimistic about a win at

:04:05. > :04:09.Wembley. A cup game is a different matter altogether. It is about who

:04:10. > :04:14.wants it the most. A bit dodgy but you never know. Never lost today is

:04:15. > :04:17.going to win the FA Cup! As a rehearsal to next month's final,

:04:18. > :04:20.manager Steve Bruce will be analysing Arsenal's play in fine

:04:21. > :04:26.detail if his men are to stand a better chance of bringing home the

:04:27. > :04:29.FA Cup. Scunthorpe United could secure

:04:30. > :04:32.promotion to League One if they win at home against Oxford tomorrow. The

:04:33. > :04:36.Iron are top of League Two and if the matches at Burton, Fleetwood or

:04:37. > :04:39.Chesterfield go their way they could get one of three automatic promotion

:04:40. > :04:42.places. And you'll be able to hear commentary of Scunthorpe United's

:04:43. > :04:46.crucial match against Oxford on BBC Radio Humberside's FM frequency

:04:47. > :04:50.tomorrow. The build up starts at 1.30 while on digital and the web it

:04:51. > :04:56.will be Grimsby Town against Hyde FC and BBC Radio Lincolnshire will have

:04:57. > :05:01.coverage of trip to Wrexham. Kick off is at 3pm.

:05:02. > :05:13.Not been so bad weather wise. Good evening. Through this evening

:05:14. > :05:17.it will turn increasingly cloudy but most of us should stay dry with BS

:05:18. > :05:23.got some rain particularly in western areas. Quite cloudy soil

:05:24. > :05:32.temperatures around about 10 Celsius or quite mild. Easter Monday will be

:05:33. > :05:39.breezy. We should see it brightening up what some sunny spells and in the

:05:40. > :05:45.afternoon the UNESCO some showers. `` the risk of some showers. Should

:05:46. > :05:51.get up to 16 Celsius in the sunshine and when they will start to ease

:05:52. > :05:56.their own. The desk of showers more persistent. That's all for now. I'm

:05:57. > :06:00.back with a round up of the day's news at quarter past ten tonight,

:06:01. > :06:07.hope you can join me then. Bye for now.

:06:08. > :06:14.Hello. Well, it was another lovely sunny day across the north of the

:06:15. > :06:16.UK. What a difference over the south. The rain set in for the

:06:17. > :06:20.course of the afternoon. There's more of that to come. It has been

:06:21. > :06:26.getting heavy across southern England. A narrow band for London,

:06:27. > :06:27.for the south Midlands, to south Wales and the

:06:28. > :06:39.for the south Midlands, to south England and into Northern Ireland

:06:40. > :06:43.for a time. Otherwise it looks like staying largely dry. A mild night as

:06:44. > :06:48.well. Nothing like as cold as last night. Just the far north perhaps

:06:49. > :06:52.seeing temperatures dipping away under clearer skies. A cloudy start

:06:53. > :06:58.for many of us tomorrow. The sun will break through every now and

:06:59. > :07:01.then. Areas bordering the Irish Sea looking good as well. You will

:07:02. > :07:07.notice showers developing further south. As we go into the afternoon,

:07:08. > :07:08.a zone of heavy showers across the south Midlands
