:00:00. > 3:59:59finish one ahead of Shane Lowry of Ireland. And that is all the sport.

:00:00. > :00:10.There's more throughout the Hello from BBC Look North. More than

:00:11. > :00:13.500 volunteers have joined the Lincolnshire Police Force a year

:00:14. > :00:17.since the Police and Crime Commissioner launched a campaign to

:00:18. > :00:21.recruit a thousand. Getting them in place has cost more than six hundred

:00:22. > :00:24.thousand pounds, money some argue should have been spent on employing

:00:25. > :00:30.full time officers. Tolu Adeoye reports.

:00:31. > :00:33.Kitted out for his first day in the field with Lincolnshire police.

:00:34. > :00:37.20`year`old student Jacob Mason is one of 500 volunteers taken on in

:00:38. > :00:42.the first year of a project to get 1000 people working for the force

:00:43. > :00:46.for free. Today he is part of an operation hunting for contraband in

:00:47. > :00:50.Grantham. We are just waiting for the sniffer

:00:51. > :00:55.dogs to come and sniff out the store. Looking for anything, hides

:00:56. > :00:59.or anything counterfeit or illegal. From volunteering in the police, I

:01:00. > :01:03.am definitely getting a foot in. And possibly a career in the future.

:01:04. > :01:06.The new recruits include support workers like Jacob, specials with

:01:07. > :01:11.the same power as regular officers, as well as cadets in the countries

:01:12. > :01:16.first voluntary PCSOs. I am absolutely delighted. This is a

:01:17. > :01:20.milestone for us. It is a 1000 challenge, that's an ambition, but

:01:21. > :01:23.it shows that we have struck a chord there with many, many people in

:01:24. > :01:28.Lincolnshire who want to do something for their communities.

:01:29. > :01:31.Lincolnshire police have spent around ?630,000 recruiting and

:01:32. > :01:38.training the volunteers it has so far. That amount of money could pave

:01:39. > :01:41.the starting salary of around 25 officers for a year. The force,

:01:42. > :01:46.though, says that for every pound it spends on volunteers, it makes back

:01:47. > :01:49.?4. That is a principle for me and my

:01:50. > :01:53.colleagues in the federation. If there is money available it should

:01:54. > :01:56.be spent providing more front line police officers. That's not to decry

:01:57. > :02:05.the work that the volunteers will do. The force has been hugely

:02:06. > :02:09.professional in the way that it has gone about recruiting the right

:02:10. > :02:12.people and trying to put them on the right places. Back in Grantham, it

:02:13. > :02:15.has been a successful day for Jacob's team. It is down to him to

:02:16. > :02:19.photograph the evidence. After today's operation, he says he is

:02:20. > :02:23.more convinced than ever he made the right decision volunteering. The

:02:24. > :02:29.Commissioner needs 500 more like him to hit its target by 2016.

:02:30. > :02:32.The results of elections for the European Parliament ` held last

:02:33. > :02:35.Thursday ` are being announced this evening. Voters in the East Midlands

:02:36. > :02:38.region, which includes Lincolnshire, will elect five members. The count

:02:39. > :02:42.is being held in Kettering. Six MEPS will be elected in the Yorkshire and

:02:43. > :02:46.Humber region, with the count in Leeds. Both regions will announce

:02:47. > :02:50.results after ten this evening. And we hope to be able to bring you

:02:51. > :02:54.those results if they arrive in time on the late Look North at 22.50pm.

:02:55. > :02:57.The North Lincolnshire town of Brigg has hosted an contestants from

:02:58. > :03:01.around the world in the World Quadrathlon Championships. It's the

:03:02. > :03:03.first time the UK's held the multi`event sport at this level,

:03:04. > :03:09.which involves swimming, kayaking, cycling and running. Our reporter

:03:10. > :03:12.Crispin Rolfe was there. Under starters order in the first

:03:13. > :03:20.ever World Quadrathlon Championships to be held in the UK. The River

:03:21. > :03:25.Ancholme turned 1500 metre race track, as Brigg put on a show of

:03:26. > :03:34.endurance. But what is a quadrathlon? You start with

:03:35. > :03:39.triathlons and then you add on the kayak when you want more of a

:03:40. > :03:41.challenge, and this is a fantastic location for it, you have got the

:03:42. > :03:44.rubber on your doorstep and some cracking background. So the added

:03:45. > :03:47.extra of a 7km kayak. But with Scunthorpe boasting its own European

:03:48. > :03:57.Quadrathlon Champion Steve Clark, the sport is firmly on the local

:03:58. > :04:05.road map. Swimming, running, cycling and kayaking, for disciplines

:04:06. > :04:08.instead of three. The European Championships has already been

:04:09. > :04:14.here, and now for the first time, the world Championships. The bike

:04:15. > :04:18.race is 36 K, a challenge for all but the leaders. Then followed by a

:04:19. > :04:30.ten K run in what is surely one of the most gruelling events going.

:04:31. > :04:40.Britain's Steve King came in fifth. I managed to fill `` if you back on

:04:41. > :04:44.the bike. For Brigg, though, the race to host the UK's first World

:04:45. > :04:50.Championships is won. Though right now everyone needs a breather.

:04:51. > :04:54.Hull Kingston Rovers have gone three games unbeaten in front of a home

:04:55. > :05:01.crowd. They beat bottom side London Broncos 48`16 at Craven Park. The

:05:02. > :05:05.court said he was proud of the win even though dated their food off the

:05:06. > :05:06.gas for the second half. Now the weather with Jennifer

:05:07. > :05:17.Bartram. Hello. Good evening. The showers

:05:18. > :05:20.that many of us have seen today will clear through the course of this

:05:21. > :05:24.evening and overnight we will be left with a dry night, with some

:05:25. > :05:27.clear spells and we could just see some patchy mist or fog for tomorrow

:05:28. > :05:31.morning. Temperatures overnight will fall back to around nine or ten

:05:32. > :05:35.Celsius and the winds will stay fairly light for the south east. So

:05:36. > :05:38.it is a bright start to Bank Holiday Monday, some spells of sunshine

:05:39. > :05:41.immediately and then the cloud will build into the afternoon and we will

:05:42. > :05:44.see some further showers breaking out. Like today, some of those

:05:45. > :05:47.showers could be heavy and thundery in places. Temperatures tomorrow

:05:48. > :05:51.getting up to highs of 17 Celsius. That is 63 Fahrenheit. As we go

:05:52. > :05:55.through the rest of the week, some heavy rain will make its way up from

:05:56. > :05:59.the south east too as we go through Tuesday and that is going to hang

:06:00. > :06:01.around into Wednesday. Some real downpours on the way and highs of 14

:06:02. > :06:14.Celsius. Good evening. Some of us had a

:06:15. > :06:20.pretty good soaking. It downpours around with thunder and lightning.

:06:21. > :06:22.It wasn't so bad everywhere. The satellite picture across the

:06:23. > :06:27.Midlands, East Anglia and the south coast, the Isle of Wight. A

:06:28. > :06:28.beautiful end to the day. You
