:00:00. > :00:00.all from the BBC News at Six - so it's goodbye from

:00:00. > :00:00.Good evening and welcome to BBC Look North.

:00:00. > :00:17.Three men die after being taken ill on a ship at an East Yorkshire dock.

:00:18. > :00:26.I can hardly remember accident at all. It is surprising and

:00:27. > :00:30.upsetting. It is not a regular occurrence. Police say it could be

:00:31. > :00:33.weeks before we know what core the deaths of these people.

:00:34. > :00:35.UKIP targets Westminster gains in Lincolnshire ` as

:00:36. > :00:45.a senior Conservative in the county says his own MP must do more.

:00:46. > :00:49.My message to mark is get Boston back.

:00:50. > :00:51.Another wind farm planned for East Yorkshire `

:00:52. > :00:56.campaigners say turbines ruin the landscape and damage tourism.

:00:57. > :00:58.And the Lincolnshire singer through to

:00:59. > :01:14.Some unsettled weather to come in the next 48 hours and a warning by

:01:15. > :01:20.heavy rain. I'm back later in the programme.

:01:21. > :01:25.Three men working on board a ship in Goole Docks have now died

:01:26. > :01:30.Humberside Police, who are working with marine accident

:01:31. > :01:33.investigators, say it could be several weeks before the actual

:01:34. > :01:39.Our reporter Kate Sweeting is live at the Docks for us this evening.

:01:40. > :01:54.We know the men were unloading a cargo of wood from this ship

:01:55. > :02:00.yesterday morning when they became ill. They were taken to hospital but

:02:01. > :02:05.all died. Two other members of the crew were unaffected. Police today

:02:06. > :02:09.confirmed the men were taken ill. They were not injured by falling

:02:10. > :02:14.cargo as was first speculated but they say it is too early to say what

:02:15. > :02:18.caused the become ill until the result of postmortem examinations,

:02:19. > :02:20.which will be carried out in the next few days.

:02:21. > :02:23.Searching for clues as to what killed three members

:02:24. > :02:26.of this ship's crew. The men were a 60`year`old

:02:27. > :02:29.from Germany and a 33 and 38`year`old from the Philippines.

:02:30. > :02:32.At the moment the cause of their death is unknown.

:02:33. > :02:35.All we know is they've been working on the ship.

:02:36. > :02:40.As a result of that they've taken ill and they

:02:41. > :02:44.have been taken to hospital. It is early days for us to be able

:02:45. > :02:48.to say what is the cause of death. For those who know the port well,

:02:49. > :02:51.what happened has come as a shock. I think a lot of people will be

:02:52. > :02:55.frightened and scared and want to know what has happened.

:02:56. > :02:58.People have worked in the docks in dangerous situations for years.

:02:59. > :03:02.I can hardly remember an accident at all over the years.

:03:03. > :03:05.It is really surprising and upsetting.

:03:06. > :03:09.It is sad news. I'm from Goole and all my family

:03:10. > :03:12.have worked on the docks all lives. It is not a regular occurrence

:03:13. > :03:15.and it is sad. In a statement, Associated British

:03:16. > :03:18.Ports, which runs this dock, said, we are continuing to work with

:03:19. > :03:23.the relevant authorities. Our thoughts are with those affected

:03:24. > :03:27.by this tragic shipboard accident. The fact is accident levels have

:03:28. > :03:29.gone down, thankfully, but nevertheless,

:03:30. > :03:33.despite all that work, everyone acknowledges it is a dangerous

:03:34. > :03:36.environment and I suspect seafaring will always have a significant

:03:37. > :03:39.element of danger and risk. The police and marine accident

:03:40. > :03:43.investigation branch are now trying to establish what happened,

:03:44. > :03:51.but we are told it could be weeks before we have any answers.

:03:52. > :04:00.How common are accidents like this? They are rare but not unheard of and

:04:01. > :04:03.figures from the health and safety executive showed 15 people in

:04:04. > :04:08.Yorkshire and seven in the East Midlands were killed in industrial

:04:09. > :04:12.accidents in the last year. 1000 people are killed worldwide in

:04:13. > :04:17.maritime accidents every year, so it can be a risky business. The aim of

:04:18. > :04:22.this investigation now will to the establish what happens and also how

:04:23. > :04:27.to prevent it happening again. We'll let you know if we do hear anything.

:04:28. > :04:31.The man travelling 200 miles in his wheelchair to help improve

:04:32. > :04:37.A senior Lincolnshire MP has been told he must do more to help

:04:38. > :04:44.The leader of Boston Borough Council told BBC Look North that local

:04:45. > :04:50.Tory MP Mark Simmonds should "get Boston back as his priority".

:04:51. > :04:54.The warning follows UKIP's success in the European elections.

:04:55. > :04:57.The UKIP leader Nigel Farage has earmarked Boston Skegness as one

:04:58. > :05:01.of the seats the party could win in next year's general election.

:05:02. > :05:12.More from our Political Editor Tim Iredale.

:05:13. > :05:23.Died testing `` digests the news, this woman claims her party can

:05:24. > :05:29.repeat the success in the general election in just over 11 months

:05:30. > :05:32.time. We will target seats and target the seeds where we have a

:05:33. > :05:38.fantastic support at local level with local councillors in place.

:05:39. > :05:43.UKIP are targeting Grimsby currently held by Labour who is stepping down

:05:44. > :05:49.next year and Boston which is represented by Conservative

:05:50. > :05:54.ministers. In Boston alone, UKIP polled more than 50% of the boat in

:05:55. > :05:58.the European elections. They are the only parties who will do something

:05:59. > :06:04.about the problems we have got in Lincolnshire. That is with migration

:06:05. > :06:11.and the way the town has been spoiled. I am not racist but there

:06:12. > :06:18.are too many foreign people in this country, and in Boston. I hope they

:06:19. > :06:26.don't create tensions here. We have had it already and the situation is

:06:27. > :06:31.a little bit under control. As a foreign minister his work is

:06:32. > :06:34.overseas, but the leader of his Conservative council says he needs

:06:35. > :06:43.to reconnect with people closer to home. Mark has been doing an awful

:06:44. > :06:50.lot of work in Boston but he has not been the best communicate in that

:06:51. > :06:54.work. He spent a lot of time out of the country. My message to him is

:06:55. > :07:02.that you need to get Boston back first as your priority. Marco wasn't

:07:03. > :07:05.available for interview today. UKIP's ultimate aim is to see

:07:06. > :07:10.Britain leave the European Union but they know they can only achieve that

:07:11. > :07:16.if they have a power base at Westminster. One of Lincolnshire's

:07:17. > :07:22.MEPs was back on the campaign trail. He is UKIP's candidate in the

:07:23. > :07:27.election team place next week. That'll be a test of how the world

:07:28. > :07:28.of Westminster politics has changed following the events of the past few

:07:29. > :07:36.days. Well you saw her there in Tim's

:07:37. > :07:40.report ` and now Jane Collins, one of UKIP's newest MEPs

:07:41. > :07:48.for Yorkshire and the Humber, is It all started by you sitting at

:07:49. > :07:55.home on the survey shouting at the TV. Are you going to stay on the

:07:56. > :08:05.sober or get out? I am going to be the eyes and ears of people. And MEP

:08:06. > :08:12.on ?80,000 a year, when he don't think we should be in Europe. It is

:08:13. > :08:15.strange. It is an ironic situation. You are in a job you hope you lose

:08:16. > :08:22.because we want to come out of the EU. You are happy to take the

:08:23. > :08:27.?80,000 salary? We don't look at it at that way. I don't think the

:08:28. > :08:32.voters are. We are going to represent the people that will

:08:33. > :08:35.upload photos, who had a mistress of the European Union and Parliament

:08:36. > :08:40.and we will represent them and do our job. But there is like David

:08:41. > :08:53.Cameron who have called you races in the past, how insulting is that? ``

:08:54. > :08:59.racist. It is insulting. They live in a bubble. What message does

:09:00. > :09:07.leaving the EU centre companies like Siemens? They would run a mile from

:09:08. > :09:10.Hull. I don't agree with that comment. They said they were

:09:11. > :09:15.concerned with our membership but let me make it clear. Business and

:09:16. > :09:21.trade is not based on the back part of a political union. It is based on

:09:22. > :09:26.supply and demand. Is Siemens wasn't yet those jobs would go and we would

:09:27. > :09:33.lose it. You are saying we should be out of Europe. I am delighted for

:09:34. > :09:38.the people in Hull he'll get the jobs with Siemens, but you have to

:09:39. > :09:47.as yourself why they are laid out 15,000 of their own workers in

:09:48. > :09:54.Jimmy, gone back to Jimmy `` Germany, to use offshore wind farms.

:09:55. > :10:00.You work of Godfrey Bloom. Has he given you any advice on how not to

:10:01. > :10:07.put your foot in it? I don't think he need to give me any advice. We

:10:08. > :10:12.may find out. I don't think we can advise each other on that. I have my

:10:13. > :10:26.own special way of doing things and he had his. Very good to seeing you.

:10:27. > :10:34.What would you like to see. Would you like to see UKIP representing

:10:35. > :10:51.you? You can e`mail us. You can text us as well.

:10:52. > :10:54.Thousands more army reservists are needed in the next four years to

:10:55. > :10:57.make up for redundancies among full`time soldiers.

:10:58. > :11:01.A recruitment drive is falling short of its ambitious targets.

:11:02. > :11:05.Here the 4th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment is a third`empty with room

:11:06. > :11:11.I don't think it is overly optimistic.

:11:12. > :11:15.I think we need to make sure we give ourselves enough time to achieve

:11:16. > :11:18.There's always a desire to do it right now

:11:19. > :11:22.and we have to keep concentrating on the fact we have given ourselves a

:11:23. > :11:26.target of six years to achieve that and we have to get on with it, get

:11:27. > :11:31.Six firefighters from Lincolnshire have rescued more than 100 people

:11:32. > :11:34.from floods in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

:11:35. > :11:37.They were part of a British flood response team helping

:11:38. > :11:41.in the aftermath of last week?s unprecedented heavy rain ` and also

:11:42. > :11:49.Anti`windfarm campaigners in East Yorkshire say plans to build

:11:50. > :11:55.12 turbines the height of the Humber Bridge will

:11:56. > :11:58.industrialise the Yorkshire Wolds and damage tourism in the area.

:11:59. > :12:01.This latest proposal is for a new wind farm near Driffield on land

:12:02. > :12:07.In the East Riding, 16 wind farms have already been

:12:08. > :12:11.approved or built, and five others are still to be decided on.

:12:12. > :12:18.To some wind turbines offer cheaper, cleaner energy.

:12:19. > :12:22.To others an eyesore invading the countryside.

:12:23. > :12:28.In Yorkshire, campaigners say they are already changing the skyline.

:12:29. > :12:32.You will be able to see this as far north as Scarborough.

:12:33. > :12:35.This farmland has become the latest battle ground.

:12:36. > :12:38.The proposed site for a new wind farm.

:12:39. > :12:42.It will decimate the landscape and ruin the entire area.

:12:43. > :12:45.Tourism is a big thing and we need to generate more

:12:46. > :13:06.Would you be happy if this was somewhere else

:13:07. > :13:12.We've got plenty of wind farms and it is time to say no.

:13:13. > :13:15.The plan would see 12 turbines stretch along the brow of this hill,

:13:16. > :13:19.That is more than twice the height of Beverley Minster,

:13:20. > :13:22.but they would produce enough energy to power nearly 13,000 homes.

:13:23. > :13:25.We do need to generate more electricity from renewable sources

:13:26. > :13:29.and so it is a difficult exercise to try balance that but we believe

:13:30. > :13:32.Highwood is one of those sites which we think can meet those targets.

:13:33. > :13:34.By 2020 the government must generate 15%

:13:35. > :13:38.By then it is predicted wind power will provide

:13:39. > :13:42.But ministers say from 2015 they will cut support

:13:43. > :13:45.for onshore wind because wind power targets will already have been met.

:13:46. > :13:47.The turbines at Highwood would be similar

:13:48. > :13:52.Opposition in the village is growing.

:13:53. > :13:56.This wind farm is effectively an industrialisation.

:13:57. > :13:59.We are going to get these monsters built on our doorstep.

:14:00. > :14:05.Just last week plans for turbines near Burton Agnes Hall

:14:06. > :14:09.were thrown out by the Secretary of State after a lengthy enquiry.

:14:10. > :14:23.But supporters of wind power say it offers greater value for money.

:14:24. > :14:27.It's easier to install at the top in this region.

:14:28. > :14:29.We have wide open space for onshore wind power.

:14:30. > :14:33.It may be a prime spot for the energy companies but tonight

:14:34. > :14:35.villages here are holding an action meeting, determined, they say,

:14:36. > :14:47.Fears of a Hull FC relegation fight as the club prepares for five

:14:48. > :15:07.The Lincolnshire singer showing his talent on a national TV show.

:15:08. > :15:10.Tonight?s photo is looking over the Isle of Axholme.

:15:11. > :15:18.Taken from Flixborough Hill by Nigel Pennington.

:15:19. > :15:33.If you have a picture send it in. Paul was away the other day. The

:15:34. > :15:49.course is being held in Spain, which makes me suspect. He goes on a lot

:15:50. > :15:54.of these courses. It may or may not be reciprocated. In the rain to come

:15:55. > :16:00.in next 24 hours. Some very heavy rain so we have a warning from the

:16:01. > :16:04.Met office stop some spot having a significant amounts of rain. It is

:16:05. > :16:08.all down to this front which will stick around the ages. It will

:16:09. > :16:14.fizzle through Thursday, so a lot of rain to come. You can see all the

:16:15. > :16:18.cloud. It has brought rain. It is now starting to clear from far

:16:19. > :16:22.eastern parts and spreading westwards, so a dry spell for a time

:16:23. > :16:27.but further spells of rain setting in on the night. Tomorrow morning

:16:28. > :17:01.will be north, so a wet and miserable day to

:17:02. > :17:06.come and temperatures really suppress as a result. We should be

:17:07. > :17:10.at around 70 degrees so it will feel cruel but the breeze from the North

:17:11. > :17:37.east `` 17 degrees so it will feel improvement on Friday, not

:17:38. > :17:41.completely dry but drier. Thank you very much. It is one thing being

:17:42. > :17:49.told to be nice but being threatened on there. My grandmother will be

:17:50. > :17:56.onto you. A nature reserve manager recently

:17:57. > :17:59.diagnosed with a muscle wasting disease has embarked on a coast to

:18:00. > :18:02.coast challenge in his wheelchair. Roy Taylor, who is responsible for

:18:03. > :18:06.RSPB sites around the Humber, wants to highlight access problems in

:18:07. > :18:09.the countryside, and raise thousands Roy Taylor, who is responsible for

:18:10. > :18:14.RSPB sites around the Humber, wants to highlight access problems in

:18:15. > :18:24.the countryside, and raise thousands From those of his life Roy Taylor

:18:25. > :18:26.has taken like an outdoors were granted as reserve manager. After

:18:27. > :18:32.being diagnosed with motoneuron disease last year, leaving him

:18:33. > :18:37.needing a wheelchair, he has become familiar with access problems in the

:18:38. > :18:45.countryside. Using get along the path but not pass gates, kissing

:18:46. > :18:49.gate as well. It is depriving a lot of people, elderly people, people

:18:50. > :18:55.with disabilities and prams, access to the countryside. Here set out to

:18:56. > :19:00.raise awareness, covering more than two miles in a coast`to`coast

:19:01. > :19:05.challenge. All the money I raised will help the changes. I can't

:19:06. > :19:12.change the countryside like can change the size I work for. Those

:19:13. > :19:15.sites include here which already prides itself on taking wheelchairs

:19:16. > :19:23.into account. This is one of our points. It is safe and secure and it

:19:24. > :19:26.is completely accessible. Those Les Mobile appreciate the efforts but

:19:27. > :19:40.say there is still much that can be done. `` less mobile. They can be a

:19:41. > :19:45.crusher eyeliner and make it difficult to see. Attention to that

:19:46. > :19:50.is welcome. It underpins everything we tried to do. Not only be trying

:19:51. > :19:55.to protect these birds, we want people to enjoy them and experience

:19:56. > :20:02.them, so making it accessible is one of our ultimate goals with around

:20:03. > :20:06.140,000 miles of footpaths and right away nationwide, the country land

:20:07. > :20:11.and business association says it is a difficult task but landowners are

:20:12. > :20:13.taking an increasing responsibility. We would encourage people to

:20:14. > :20:21.consider how they can make access more easy, to all the various things

:20:22. > :20:25.which disabled people can enjoy in the countryside. Roy's challenge for

:20:26. > :20:38.help with that. He has raised ?13,000 already. It makes you think.

:20:39. > :20:40.Where are the best places for wheelchair users. You can get in

:20:41. > :20:45.touch with us by e`mail. Former Hull FC player

:20:46. > :20:47.and coach Johnny Whiteley says he's very concerned

:20:48. > :20:49.about the club's away form. Hull have failed win on

:20:50. > :20:53.the road this season and are not due Johnny still gave

:20:54. > :20:57.his backing to coach Lee Radford. Our sports reporter Simon

:20:58. > :21:01.Clark has been to meet him. He's one of Hull and rugby

:21:02. > :21:04.league's most decorated stars. Even at 83,

:21:05. > :21:06.Johnny Whiteley retains his youthful enthusiasm for the game he loves

:21:07. > :21:11.and club who defined his career. He was at Headingley on Friday when

:21:12. > :21:30.Hull lost their latest game on road, You hope something happens and that

:21:31. > :21:34.somebody lights of the game. Very few times this season have we really

:21:35. > :21:36.got our bottoms off the seats and stood up.

:21:37. > :21:40.Hull have won just five games all season and if they're not quite

:21:41. > :21:42.in the relegation scrap with London and Bradford

:21:43. > :21:54.The issues are not being fixed in a week. They will take a while but we

:21:55. > :21:58.are doing it. That is right from the bottom.

:21:59. > :22:00.Analysing the game as he did for Radio Humberside,

:22:01. > :22:08.commentaor and former player Craig Murdock sees grounds for optimism.

:22:09. > :22:14.Lee has been left with a lot card he doesn't want and it will take him

:22:15. > :22:20.time to shovel them out. He can't just buy a new side. It is a work in

:22:21. > :22:35.progress. It will take a couple of years to sort out but I am certain

:22:36. > :22:41.he is right for the job. It is important to find your halfbacks and

:22:42. > :22:47.keep them for a run of games. They have my sympathies because it is a

:22:48. > :22:50.hard job. Especially when the crowd are helping you along.

:22:51. > :22:54.Due to this work at the KC, Hull who've not won away all season

:22:55. > :22:57.will not return here until July ` making Saturday's game at London

:22:58. > :23:10.The Lincolnshire based Red Arrows have released footage taken

:23:11. > :23:13.inside the cockpit of one of its aircrafts during

:23:14. > :23:16.It was filmed by the passenger travelling with

:23:17. > :23:21.The aerobatic team has been given approval to display this year.

:23:22. > :23:25.And if you want to see the whole of this footage,

:23:36. > :23:40.That's what the mum of a singer from Lincolnshire says

:23:41. > :23:43.after her son reached the final of Britain's Got Talent.

:23:44. > :23:45.24`year`old Thomas Leak, from Donington`on`Bain near Louth,

:23:46. > :23:49.is part of the musical theatre group Collabro.

:23:50. > :23:53.Last night they won the first semi final of the ITV talent show `

:23:54. > :23:56.to keep alive their hopes of performing in front of the Queen.

:23:57. > :24:04.They certainly have the luck of a boy band but it was their sound

:24:05. > :24:11.which surprised the judging panel on one of the world's talent shows and

:24:12. > :24:15.last night the boy band, including Thomas Leak, made it to the live

:24:16. > :24:23.finals after the public voted them the best of the night. I think we

:24:24. > :24:30.could be looking at the winners. We are proud. The boys are quite young

:24:31. > :24:34.this is all they wanted to do. They love musical theatre. Thomas is in
