:00:16. > :00:17.Tomorrow marks the 70th anniversary of D`Day, when `llied

:00:23. > :00:25.and the Red Arrows performed for thousands in Portsmouth.

:00:26. > :00:28.The men who fought on D`Day set up groups to rdmember

:00:29. > :00:30.their colleagues, and there are hundreds across the world.

:00:31. > :00:34.The very first was in Grimsby, but they are now laying

:00:35. > :00:43.Four men, each of whom played their part in D`Day.

:00:44. > :00:44.Each with a different role. But bound together by the mdmories

:00:45. > :00:56.and comradeship they share. It was chaos on the beach btt

:00:57. > :00:58.everyone knew what they had to do. You knew that this was the vital

:00:59. > :01:04.landing. and comradeship they share.

:01:05. > :01:11.Grimsby and Cleethorpes forled the very first bran of the Normandy

:01:12. > :01:14.veterans association. It was set up in 1981.

:01:15. > :01:16.Within two years there were more than 120 branches in the UK

:01:17. > :01:31.and abroad. Three in New York. A German was

:01:32. > :01:36.fighting us in Germany and he said he wanted to join the Normandy

:01:37. > :01:38.veterans. We thought, he might as well.

:01:39. > :01:40.and abroad. Over the years they've shardd

:01:41. > :01:44.their D`Day stories. Alf Duncan was just 17

:01:45. > :01:45.and had been serving on the risky Arctic convoys, only to facd new

:01:46. > :02:03.dangers off the French coast. There was one time when we had a

:02:04. > :02:09.wire around our screw. The Germans were attacking us. There were

:02:10. > :02:12.thousands lay dead. The French combo local people were so pleased to see

:02:13. > :02:16.us. We felt proud of them. dangers off the French coast.

:02:17. > :02:17.On Sunday will lay up their standard, marking the official

:02:18. > :02:31.end of their association. It is upsetting when we think we

:02:32. > :02:35.were together all those years. The association is depleting now. We

:02:36. > :02:37.were a band of brothers and all in that boat together at Normandy and

:02:38. > :02:39.that is what holds us together. 93`year`old Henry Draper ending

:02:40. > :02:42.that report by Jo Makel. The Ministry

:02:43. > :02:45.of Defence have announced that the soldier killed at an army b`se in

:03:01. > :03:04.and Swanpool waste sites is part of a wider ?250 million project to

:03:05. > :03:10.provide thousands of new holes. A senior judge

:03:11. > :03:12.in Hull has been forced to hntroduce special measures in the citx's court

:03:13. > :03:16.in response to a boycott of An increasing number of defdndants

:03:17. > :03:29.have no solicitor to represdnt them, Since April a catalogue

:03:30. > :03:30.of cases here at Hull Crown Court have been delayed or disrupted

:03:31. > :04:01.because defendants have been left What this is designed to delonstrate

:04:02. > :04:06.is what life will be like in the criminal justice system if the

:04:07. > :04:09.government gets its way with these particular proposals.

:04:10. > :04:13.for barristers. The boycott has forced Hull's senior

:04:14. > :04:15.Judge Jeremy Richardson QC to issue unprecedented guidance

:04:16. > :04:17.on how courts should proceed, a first indication that it's

:04:18. > :04:20.causing significant problems for the criminal justice system

:04:21. > :04:24.In a statement the Ministry of Justice

:04:25. > :04:59.unprecedented financial challenge we had no choice but to signifhcantly

:05:00. > :05:02.These cuts are unsustainabld. They have been told to take a cut. The

:05:03. > :05:06.criminal justice system is hn chaos because the government doesn't

:05:07. > :05:13.recognise the issues. The annual legal aid bill is into the

:05:14. > :05:20.billions. Aren't you fighting for lawyers and barristers? It hs an

:05:21. > :05:25.efficient system. They have offered some ideas of making efficidncy

:05:26. > :05:31.savings. It has been completely ignored. The profit margins are very

:05:32. > :05:38.low already. The CPS says there is increased numbers in the city to be

:05:39. > :05:41.adjourned. It is not my forler profession and colleagues c`ll it ``

:05:42. > :05:49.causing the problem. The government's statement said

:05:50. > :05:54.solicitors are working on thght profit margins already. These cuts

:05:55. > :06:00.are completely unsustainabld. It is about noise and barristers not

:06:01. > :06:03.wanting to have money cuts to them. This is costing more money hn the

:06:04. > :06:07.long run as a result of the government simply not listening

:06:08. > :06:14.What of solicitors charge ldss money? More people would be able to

:06:15. > :06:19.use them anyway. The profit margins are 7%. The government are dxpecting

:06:20. > :06:35.solicitors to take double that and it is unsustainable. This is a good

:06:36. > :06:44.example. This is what will happen. Now for the weather forecast.

:06:45. > :06:49.It is a settled date tomorrow. Towards the end of the night, there

:06:50. > :07:02.could be the odd isolated Mr patch. Temperatures will slip back into

:07:03. > :07:08.single figures. We have high`level cloud moving in before it thins in

:07:09. > :07:14.the afternoon. It will feel warm and temperatures will lift to 20

:07:15. > :07:22.degrees. The risk of some hdavy downpours and a warm day to come on

:07:23. > :07:26.Saturday. That is it from us this evening. We are back tomorrow
