:00:11. > :00:13.say they still need to raisd half a million pounds to get it built.

:00:14. > :00:16.Planning approval was given for the mosque in 2012 and the

:00:17. > :00:25.Islamic Association of Lincoln says a project team is now in place.

:00:26. > :00:29.This has been the place of worship for Muslims in Lincoln since 1981.

:00:30. > :00:32.The former Baptist Church holds 60 people, but the community in Lincoln

:00:33. > :00:37.and surrounding areas has grown to around 2,000.

:00:38. > :00:42.Every week, a larger building has to be rented to accommodate people

:00:43. > :00:45.Planning approval was given for a new mosque in the Bootam area

:00:46. > :00:50.of the city in 2012, but only half of what's needed to build it has

:00:51. > :00:56.We still need to raise quite a lot, half a million, at least.

:00:57. > :00:58.A large number of donors are giving something

:00:59. > :01:07.like ?20,000`?30,000, and some people are giving ?1,000 a lonth, so

:01:08. > :01:11.The Islamic Association has spent years trying to get a new mosque

:01:12. > :01:18.In August 2008, the Association was given approval to turn a disused

:01:19. > :01:21.church into one, but just two weeks later it was destroyed by fire.

:01:22. > :01:24.Then in October the following year, plans for a mosque

:01:25. > :01:27.on the same site were turned down because of traffic issues.

:01:28. > :01:29.Not everyone has supported the idea. This protest by the East Anglian

:01:30. > :01:32.Patriots in January was met by a counter demonstration.

:01:33. > :01:38.Zoobare is one of those who has donated money towards the mosque.

:01:39. > :01:44.When I grew up, there was no purpose`built mosque. We were lucky

:01:45. > :01:48.we had this place, but now, having a big purpose`built mosque for our

:01:49. > :01:55.children as they grow up, that is really agreeable for us.

:01:56. > :01:58.The hope now is that people will continue to donate so that the first

:01:59. > :02:01.bricks can be laid for what's been described as a vital building

:02:02. > :02:08.The Labour party has chosen a union organiser for its next parliamentary

:02:09. > :02:13.candidate for Great Grimsby. Melanie Onn was selected to replace Austin

:02:14. > :02:18.Mitchell, who is retiring at the next election.

:02:19. > :02:20.Villagers in East Yorkshire say they're delighted that flood

:02:21. > :02:22.defences are to be strengthened following December's tidal surge.

:02:23. > :02:27.The river walls in Reedness near Goole will be increased in height to

:02:28. > :02:30.bring them in line with other defences in the area, as Sarah

:02:31. > :02:38.During December's tidal surge, the road through Reedness became a river

:02:39. > :02:47.` the flooding blamed on defences that were too low in places.

:02:48. > :02:50.Now seven months on, there are still clear signs of the dalage

:02:51. > :02:54.Geoff's home was flooded to waist`height and he still

:02:55. > :02:59.You look at what's been done in the house and we sit

:03:00. > :03:05.in the caravan and think, wd're just going to get all this done, I hope

:03:06. > :03:09.These are the flood defences that are going to be improvdd.

:03:10. > :03:12.In some places, they'll be tp to a metre higher than they are now.

:03:13. > :03:15.Some of the work will be telporary to shore up the bank for winter.

:03:16. > :03:18.That'll be made permanent when work starts again in 2015.

:03:19. > :03:20.And it's brought comfort to residents here.

:03:21. > :03:29.Even after this terrible evdnt and all that's been said, I think

:03:30. > :03:33.we were a little sceptical as to whether the money was going to make

:03:34. > :03:36.its way from Eton and such`like and make its way up north, and it has.

:03:37. > :03:39.On the edge of the village, signs work is beginning,

:03:40. > :03:51.It's hoped the first phase of the project will be competed by October.

:03:52. > :03:53.At the Commonwealth Games, Lincoln's Lizzie Simmonds mhssed out

:03:54. > :03:59.on a medal in the final of the 100 metre backstroke.

:04:00. > :04:02.The 23`year`old finished in fifth position, and was back in the pool

:04:03. > :04:05.She was the second fastest qualifier for

:04:06. > :04:09.And Sophie Allen from Lincoln is also swimming in a final tonight.

:04:10. > :04:17.She was the seventh fastest qualifier for the 200 metre medley.

:04:18. > :04:19.Time now for the weather with Kawser Quamer.

:04:20. > :04:22.Good evening. We've had a mixture of sunshine and scattered, heavy

:04:23. > :04:25.showers today. As we head through the evening, we'll see thosd showers

:04:26. > :04:28.easing for a time, though there is some more in the way coming later in

:04:29. > :04:32.the night, perhaps in the northern part of our area. We are looking at

:04:33. > :04:35.clearer skies, too. Less hulid than it has been. Temperatures still 14,

:04:36. > :04:38.15 degrees but we lose some of that humidity. Tomorrow, we are looking

:04:39. > :04:41.at some sunshine around. Thd risk of a few isolated showers, most likely

:04:42. > :04:43.over higher ground, but still feeling warm. Temperatures reaching

:04:44. > :04:52.the low 20s, especially further inland.

:04:53. > :05:11.I will be back at 10:25pm. Have a good evening.

:05:12. > :05:15.Topped temperatures down 5 degrees on yesterday and much lower humidity

:05:16. > :05:19.so the second part of the weekend has been much more comfortable. The

:05:20. > :05:22.coming few days, if we get sunshine it will be pleasantly warm. It's not

:05:23. > :05:26.a completely dried story because they will be showers dotted around

:05:27. > :05:30.and it should be that bit cooler at night. The satellite sequence from

:05:31. > :05:33.today shows some thunderstorms across the southeastern corner and a

:05:34. > :05:35.lot of fine weather that into the West of Scotland this cloud has been

:05:36. > :05:39.producing some fairly heavy bursts of rain and will continue to do so.

:05:40. > :05:43.A bit of a breeze associated with that. It will sit south through this

:05:44. > :05:45.evening and into the overnight period getting down into northern

:05:46. > :05:50.and central parts of Wales by the end of the night by which stage we

:05:51. > :05:52.will see showers cropping up in the southeastern corner. Overnight
