:03:13. > :03:19.This consultation document warns there will be trade`offs.

:03:23. > :03:28.Last month, we told you about proposals to scrap
:03:29. > :03:33.direct services from Cleethorpes to Manchester Airport, with passengers
:03:34. > :03:39.Now there is a worry that the direct route from Bridlington to
:03:40. > :03:42.Sheffield and Doncaster could be under threat too.
:03:43. > :03:47.Campaigners say some services could be moved to busier routes in Leeds
:03:48. > :03:50.and Manchester, creating an East`West divide.
:03:51. > :03:59.No decisions have yet been made, but today in London the RMT protested.
:04:00. > :04:01.We already have some of the lowest investment
:04:02. > :04:08.Railways should operate for passengers, local communities and
:04:09. > :04:13.I don't believe that this particular document does any of that.
:04:14. > :04:16.Some businesses here feel they already get
:04:17. > :04:21.an inferior service compared to other parts of the country.
:04:22. > :04:24.They need more direct links, not less.
:04:25. > :04:26.They?re just leaving this part of the country in limbo
:04:27. > :04:32.Bridlington would suffer just like other places are suffering
:04:33. > :04:38.The government's pledge is better connections across the North.
:04:39. > :04:41.Rail users here want to make sure they get their fair share
:04:42. > :04:51.Earlier, I spoke to the transport minister
:04:52. > :05:02.Well, we do need to look at how we can best serve places
:05:03. > :05:06.like Cleethorpes and Bridlington, because currently the majority of
:05:07. > :05:09.people that come from Cleethorpes, for example, will terminate
:05:10. > :05:16.Whether we can have three services, which is possible, or whether we
:05:17. > :05:19.should have more people changing at Doncaster remains to be seen,
:05:20. > :05:22.but that is a very important route, particularly the route through
:05:23. > :05:29.Cleethorpes to Barton and people connect to the buses to get to Hull.
:05:30. > :05:31.It?s important that we maintain services in that part
:05:32. > :05:38.Was asking people to read a complicated 90 page document
:05:39. > :05:44.Well, it's a very complex matter, providing rail services
:05:45. > :05:50.1100 is a large number of responses and of course we had responses
:05:51. > :05:52.from organisations such as the trade unions and passenger groups,
:05:53. > :06:00.In other cases, people will have just looked at the parts of the
:06:01. > :06:03.document that refer to their own area and responded in that regard.

:07:18. > :07:20.Cottingham and Swanland into its control ` saying it would have
:07:21. > :07:25.But the East Riding of Yorkshire Council claims it's
:07:26. > :07:29.Now a campaign has started to get people
:07:30. > :07:40.to vote against the proposal next month, as Crispin Rolfe reports.
:07:41. > :07:46.East Riding towns on the edge of whole. The city council wants an
:07:47. > :07:51.inside its boundaries but East Riding doesn't and has organised a
:07:52. > :07:59.referendum. A new campaign is spreading here. Most are fighting
:08:00. > :08:03.change. It's very important because if we
:08:04. > :08:07.don't get the majority of the people engaging with the campaign is
:08:08. > :08:11.joining in with the referendum, the city council will regard that as a
:08:12. > :08:15.lack of interest. This is how they could expand into
:08:16. > :08:19.East Riding, with 12 parishes being put forward for the boundary
:08:20. > :08:23.commission to consider. Nine to the west of the city and three to the
:08:24. > :08:26.east. Today, few seem to want to leave the East Riding to become part
:08:27. > :08:31.of Hull. Leave it as it is. That's my
:08:32. > :08:35.opinion. I think they want to say they are
:08:36. > :08:39.bigger cities are making get a bigger cut of cash from the
:08:40. > :08:47.government. The border with Hull is where the
:08:48. > :08:50.East Riding wanted to stay. A postal referendum is being organised
:08:51. > :08:55.between the eighth and the 26th of December to drum up support. The
:08:56. > :09:00.referendum is not binding but could influence the commission. Hull City
:09:01. > :09:03.council says the argument is clear, ``, the area is Better Together when
:09:04. > :09:06.challenging for government investments.
:09:07. > :09:14.This is about council is working effectively together. Is the
:09:15. > :09:18.argument to remain the status quo? Know because every other area in the
:09:19. > :09:25.north are combining together for the benefits of their area and we are
:09:26. > :09:28.being left out in this region. Referendum's results will be
:09:29. > :09:32.announced at the end of September with both sides saying that a low
:09:33. > :09:33.votes will favour Hull's arguments, but ultimately any final decision
:09:34. > :09:38.will be up to the government. We want to hear from you
:09:39. > :09:54.on this story, do you think it would I have been speaking to the Mayor of

:09:59. > :10:02.arguments but unfortunately it is not all one`sided. There are lots

:10:16. > :10:20.whole? There are a few reasons but lots of
:10:21. > :10:24.identity `` loss of identity, loss of decision`making and a complete
:10:25. > :10:28.change to our way of life. I natural issues because we fear that the ?50
:10:29. > :10:35.million in council tax that the residents of East Yorkshire
:10:36. > :10:39.currently pay will disappear. If it's not worried by people who
:10:40. > :10:46.are traumatised at the thought of having Hull as their address?
:10:47. > :10:51.I think not, no. We live where we live, we chose to live in parishes,
:10:52. > :10:55.villages and market towns. We did not have any choice to live in the
:10:56. > :10:59.city, it wasn't where we wanted to be.
:11:00. > :11:05.People are happy to work, happy to shop, happy to go out in Hull. Why
:11:06. > :11:10.don't `` why are they against being part of it?
:11:11. > :11:14.That's how it has always been. We are happy to shop and those who work
:11:15. > :11:18.in Hull and use the theatres and pay for the privilege. If we were not
:11:19. > :11:23.actually doing that, many of them would close. It's an interdependency
:11:24. > :11:27.thing. What about you, you are an estate
:11:28. > :11:34.agent, so you are worried about property prices?
:11:35. > :11:37.Not particularly. I am a chartered surveyor by profession so I have a
:11:38. > :11:42.wide cross`section in the work I do with property and prices.
