:00:00. > :00:00.That's all from the BBC News at Six, so

:00:00. > :00:08.Good evening and welcome to BBC Look North. The headlines tonight:

:00:09. > :00:17.Passengers' anger at an above inflation rise in train fares.

:00:18. > :00:27.I think it is disgusting. For people in the north it could mean their

:00:28. > :00:47.fears are arising by four times their salary. ``fares are rising.

:00:48. > :00:50.A murder suspect is accidentally let out of jail ` a high`level

:00:51. > :01:03.Fishermen banned from fishing, after wind farm bosses take them to court

:01:04. > :01:08.I'm at Glanford Park, after a difficult start to the season can

:01:09. > :01:12.Scunthorpe United turn their fortunes round tonight.

:01:13. > :01:29.Rare Spanish birds make their nest at a local nature reserve.

:01:30. > :01:34.As rail fare increases are announced today, a transport campaign group

:01:35. > :01:55.says passengers in this area are not being fairly effective.

:01:56. > :02:01.Based on our estimates, is season`ticket prices go up as

:02:02. > :02:07.expected, some passengers could pay hundreds of pounds more. Those

:02:08. > :02:11.travelling between Grantham in London would be almost ?7 for the

:02:12. > :02:49.year of those using the Hull to Leeds route could be charged almost

:02:50. > :02:50.?400 of a season`ticket over ?2000. ``Grantham to London would be almost

:02:51. > :02:58.?7000. So news today that passengers could

:02:59. > :03:01.pay hundreds of pounds more for their season tickets next year

:03:02. > :03:04.has not come as any surprise to If they can't afford it, they

:03:05. > :03:11.will shut them down in the end. It goes up every year, services

:03:12. > :04:04.are being cut, and really it should For people in the North, will try

:04:05. > :04:08.the Mac to find a way to avoid avoid paying for affairs which are rising

:04:09. > :04:17.much more than the rate of inflation. We cannot create wages

:04:18. > :04:24.which go everyone unless we invest in our vital railway infrastructure.

:04:25. > :04:28.Labour say that customers are being ripped off. They want the government

:04:29. > :04:34.to pay more so that taxpayers pay less. More than a quarter of every

:04:35. > :04:41.ticket bought goes to investment in the network. This year the

:04:42. > :05:02.government capped fee rises keeping them in line with inflation. `` fear

:05:03. > :05:04.rises. `` fare rises. Here is how to get in touch if you want to give us

:05:05. > :05:21.an e`mail. We would like to hear from you if

:05:22. > :05:29.you are a regular train user have to buy a long`distance season`ticket.

:05:30. > :05:32.Train passengers and the North of England have been promised a

:05:33. > :05:57.world`class rail network by the government. Three companies have

:05:58. > :06:02.been short listed for Northern Rail and TransPennine.

:06:03. > :06:05.His wife thinks he should keep his head down ` now Austin Mitchell's

:06:06. > :06:12.views on women MPs prompts more reaction.

:06:13. > :06:16.have reacted angrily to legal action banning them from part of the North

:06:17. > :06:19.Sea. The High Court injunction has been taken out by Dong Energy which

:06:20. > :06:27.wants to carry out survey work for a new wind farm in local fishing

:06:28. > :06:31.grounds. Here's our Environment Correspondent, Paul Murphy.

:06:32. > :06:35.This is the first time Dong Energy or I think any other wind energy

:06:36. > :06:49.take this course of action. An investigation is underway after a

:06:50. > :07:01.Banning of fishermen. There are plans to build up to 90 wind

:07:02. > :07:10.turbines here that the developers need to fishermen out of the way to

:07:11. > :07:17.complete the initial survey work. The relationship with the fishermen

:07:18. > :07:24.has become increasingly strained. Dong energy offered some packages to

:07:25. > :07:29.fishermen but fishermen here say they have been offered nothing at

:07:30. > :07:41.all. When that failed, an injunction was sort and was one. `` was sought

:07:42. > :08:10.and was won. Dong Energy has said that

:08:11. > :08:12.the failed negotiations left them with no choice but to get the

:08:13. > :08:15.fishermen banned. We have made a number of offers, we have increased

:08:16. > :08:18.those offers, we have done rather a lock to reach a settlement. It is

:08:19. > :08:22.worth pointing out that this is the first time that Dong Energy, or I

:08:23. > :08:25.think, any other wind farm developer offshore has had to take this course

:08:26. > :08:28.of action. And so, attempt at offshore has had to take this course

:08:29. > :08:31.of action. And so, attempts at negotiation are

:08:32. > :08:33.continuing between one of the East's oldest industries and one of

:08:34. > :08:35.its newest. near Scunthorpe this afternoon

:08:36. > :08:45.after the M180 westbound had to be closed when a lorry hit a bridge.

:08:46. > :08:48.It happened at the junction with the M181 northbound at about two

:08:49. > :08:51.o'clock. The lorry ` which was carrying a forklift truck ` hit an

:08:52. > :08:53.overhead bridge, leaving debris and oil in the road. Diversions are

:08:54. > :08:57.still in place. The last of a group of travellers

:08:58. > :09:00.have left a site in East Yorkshire. They've been camping at the King

:09:01. > :09:03.George the fifth playing fields in Hessle since last week. East Riding

:09:04. > :09:06.of Yorkshire Council had given them Hull's borders say they'll take

:09:07. > :09:19.their campaign to the streets to ensure voters give a clear message

:09:20. > :09:21.to the Boundary Commission. Yesterday saw the launch of a group

:09:22. > :09:24.called "Hands off the East Riding". Hull City Council says a bigger city

:09:25. > :09:27.would bring financial benefits. But many insist there's no need to

:09:28. > :10:06.change the boundary. Phil says this. While Dave is an

:10:07. > :10:19.howl and says says this. `` Dave is in Hull. Austin Mitchell told a

:10:20. > :10:30.Sunday newspaper that women focus on family rather than on complex issues

:10:31. > :10:38.like Iraq. I think they are more concerned with family issues and

:10:39. > :10:46.local issues than with ideas. Diana Johnson joins me in the studio. What

:10:47. > :10:52.do you make of his comments? He is talking absolute nonsense. The idea

:10:53. > :10:57.that women MPs are not combat in the Commons is rubbish. I think he's

:10:58. > :11:01.using stereotypes here and it does not reflect what is happening in

:11:02. > :11:07.Parliament today. He was elected 37 years ago and is leaving at the next

:11:08. > :11:12.election and we have a great new female candidate in Grimsby and I

:11:13. > :11:15.think he is simply wrong. I have spoken in nearly 300 based of this

:11:16. > :11:24.Parliament and he has spoken about 40. I thought you Labour MPs stuck

:11:25. > :11:41.together but of a slipknot. Not when he is wrong on this. `` but

:11:42. > :11:47.obviously not. He says you are only issued on small issues. All members

:11:48. > :12:02.of Parliament are interested in big ideas, of course we are. He says

:12:03. > :12:09.that it's time to call it a day on all women selections. This was

:12:10. > :12:13.viewed as a way of getting more women into Parliament and is a

:12:14. > :12:22.short`term measure to get some women in. When Austin Mitchell was elected

:12:23. > :12:29.in 1977, I am sure he was on an all`male short list then. If the

:12:30. > :12:38.best member of Parliament as a man, then so be it? Having an all`male

:12:39. > :12:45.short list is not the way to get the best person and by taking this step

:12:46. > :12:50.we have a short`term measure to get a more representative parliament. I

:12:51. > :13:17.think these short lists serve a purpose here.

:13:18. > :13:21.women in the commons will weaken Parliament? Or agree with Diana's

:13:22. > :13:24.comments? Also are you supportive of all women shortlists for selecting

:13:25. > :13:45.The Ministry of Justice is investigating how a prisoner,

:13:46. > :13:54.accused of murder, was accidentally released earlier this

:13:55. > :13:57.month. He was found a number of hours later and taken back into

:13:58. > :14:00.custody. The jail has recently been criticised by inspectors. And today

:14:01. > :14:03.the government has been defending the prison system against claims it

:14:04. > :14:06.How did a prisoner held within these walls come to be accidentally

:14:07. > :14:09.released by prison officers. It's a question the ministry of justice are

:14:10. > :14:12.trying to get to the bottom of. Martynas Kupstys was supposed to be

:14:13. > :14:15.on his way to Lincoln Crown Court to face trial ` accused of committing

:14:16. > :14:18.murder earlier this year ` instead he was set free.

:14:19. > :14:21.It's been reported he was let out after a mix`up with another prisoner

:14:22. > :14:24.and that he tried to tell staff but the mistake was only discovered when

:14:25. > :14:28.he didn't show up at court. A number of newspapers have reported that he

:14:29. > :14:30.was found three hours later sitting opposite the prison.

:14:31. > :14:32.Mr Kupstys and his fellow defendant's trial collapsed for

:14:33. > :14:34.legal reasons, they'll face a retrial next March.

:14:35. > :14:45.Lincoln Prison's already been criticised this year ` a report in

:14:46. > :14:50.April said there were problems with drugs, violence and prisoner safety.

:14:51. > :14:59.It's also one of the most overcrowded prison's in the UK.

:15:00. > :15:14.On a day when the government's defended the prison service and says

:15:15. > :15:17.its not in crisis, the charity the Howard League for Penal Reform says

:15:18. > :15:23.a mistake like this suggests otherwise.

:15:24. > :15:33.We have seen all sorts of issues at this point in time. We have

:15:34. > :15:37.challenges it with an increased population that was not expected in

:15:38. > :15:45.the last 12 months. That is not a crisis in our prisons. There are

:15:46. > :15:48.pressures we are facing but there is not a crisis.

:15:49. > :15:52.type of incident where a prisoner is accidentally released is very rare

:15:53. > :15:54.and regrettable. It's appointed a senior governor from another prison

:15:55. > :16:27.This sort of matted mess, as it were, is unique, being the first

:16:28. > :16:43.This view over Hull was taken by Steve Wright.

:16:44. > :17:01.It has been a chilly day and that will be the same tomorrow mostly

:17:02. > :17:05.drive. .``mostly dry. The candidate is not look too bad after some

:17:06. > :17:12.showers on Thursday and Friday. There are still some showers around

:17:13. > :17:15.but they will die out through the course of the evening leaving us

:17:16. > :17:19.with largely dry conditions overnight. It will be a cool night

:17:20. > :17:28.temperatures around nine or 10 degrees. It will be somewhat cooler

:17:29. > :17:34.in the countryside. Your next high water will be just before three

:17:35. > :17:40.o'clock tomorrow morning. It will be a chilly start particularly in the

:17:41. > :17:45.countryside but largely dry with broken cloud and sunny spells. Most

:17:46. > :17:51.places will avoid rain and will stay dry. Temperatures will still be well

:17:52. > :17:56.below average. We should be around 21 degrees 22 degrees but out of the

:17:57. > :18:03.sunshine it will be around 16 degrees. Looking further ahead, it

:18:04. > :18:06.will be a cool day on Thursday and will close or from the north and at

:18:07. > :18:14.times there will be some showery rain around. On Friday it will be

:18:15. > :18:19.sunny spells and scattered showers. There will be a few early showers

:18:20. > :18:22.for Saturday but it will dry out for largely dry weekend and temperatures

:18:23. > :18:27.will recover slightly over the course of the weekend. A little bit

:18:28. > :18:33.cold at night but not too bad during the day.

:18:34. > :18:35.A 21`year`old showjumper from Lincolnshire has been selected

:18:36. > :18:41.to represent Team GB at the World Equestrian Games.

:18:42. > :18:43.Spencer Roe from South Hykeham near Lincoln is

:18:44. > :18:47.If his team jump well, it could secure Great Britain an

:18:48. > :18:59.Jill Archbold has been to meet him and his horse.

:19:00. > :19:02.Practising at home ` a young horse and a young rider,

:19:03. > :19:10.At 21, Spencer Roe is at the of beginning

:19:11. > :19:12.of his career as a professional show`jumper, but already,

:19:13. > :19:24.he has been called up to represent his country at the highest level.

:19:25. > :19:37.His competitive career started at age 12, competing on ponies.

:19:38. > :19:43.But Spencer's family never thought this was the beginning of a career.

:19:44. > :20:01.If you had told me a year ago that we would be standing here,

:20:02. > :20:04.saying my son was going to compete, I would have laughed at you, because

:20:05. > :20:13.The other Lincolnshire member of Team GB is Spencer's horse,

:20:14. > :20:38.called Wonder Why, but known affectionately as Disney.

:20:39. > :20:41.We have to trust each other to jump these bigger fences.

:20:42. > :20:50.He has been with the family for six years.

:20:51. > :20:56.At the end of the day, if you don't have that, you can be

:20:57. > :20:59.as good a rider as you want, but if you haven't got the horse,

:21:00. > :21:04.So we have a big partnership between us two,

:21:05. > :21:07.and we have to trust each them, and he does not want to throw me.

:21:08. > :21:09.The pair have already competed for their country in the

:21:10. > :21:17.Nation's Cup, the equestrian equivalent of the Premier League.

:21:18. > :21:19.Their jumping has helped the team avoid relegation.

:21:20. > :21:21.For a 21`year`old to break through into a senior championship team,

:21:22. > :21:24.that is an outstanding achievement, and it shows not only his skill,

:21:25. > :21:31.but also the support package that surrounds him.

:21:32. > :21:33.If Spencer's team jump well, they could secure their Olympic

:21:34. > :21:35.qualification, and this 21`year`old could be

:21:36. > :21:42.a step closer to representing his country in Rio, 2016.

:21:43. > :22:08.What is behind the pools start for Scunthorpe? ``poor start. It seems

:22:09. > :22:32.to be the meet up in class that has led to the defeats. `` the leap up.

:22:33. > :22:45.They are a good team. He is a good manager. I think by the end of the

:22:46. > :22:51.year we will stay up. Is it time to hit the panic button yet? I don't

:22:52. > :22:57.think so after two games but I think there is a sense of disappointment

:22:58. > :23:03.after the euphoria of coming up from the lower division. It has not quite

:23:04. > :23:07.content van which is one reason why the manager has acted and brought in

:23:08. > :23:16.three new players in the last 48 hours. Today he brought in as

:23:17. > :23:26.goalkeeper on loan from Peterborough. The regular goalkeeper

:23:27. > :23:31.is injured. I wonder how difficult they found it to make the transition

:23:32. > :23:38.between leaks. I think perspective is a big word to use at this stage

:23:39. > :23:43.of the season and the quality of opposition with a Swindon and

:23:44. > :23:49.Preston being in the top six has been hard. We will see where we are

:23:50. > :23:54.in a week. That is the diplomatic answer. They are playing Fleetwood

:23:55. > :24:08.tonight. And BBC Radio Humberside will have

:24:09. > :24:11.commentary of Scunthorpe United You'd normally need to travel to the

:24:12. > :24:48.Mediterranean to see one of these. But we only went as far as Frampton

:24:49. > :24:51.Marsh ` to film this Glossy Ibis. And we weren't the only ones `

:24:52. > :24:55.trying to get a good view. spotted in places like southern

:24:56. > :25:00.Spain. But with European wetlands being

:25:01. > :25:03.drained ` it's thought this one flew hundreds of miles in favour of a

:25:04. > :25:28.life in Lincolnshire. We have managed to get fairly close

:25:29. > :25:34.to him and he does not seem phased by all the attention he is getting.

:25:35. > :25:38.He arrived here in June along with a female who ascends left and not

:25:39. > :26:00.before a team here could film flirting. `` who has since left.

:26:01. > :26:09.And then they made an even bigger discovery.

:26:10. > :26:16.But his partner has been spotted recently in Spalding and Rutland.

:26:17. > :26:37.Maybe next year we might even have some checks. ``some chicks. Rail

:26:38. > :26:42.fares are on the rise. Tomorrow's weather will be dry and bright with

:26:43. > :26:52.sunny spells and occasional showers. It will be warm in the afternoon.

:26:53. > :27:00.Response on the subject of train fares which were talking about at

:27:01. > :27:05.the start of the programme. This lady says she was told it would be

:27:06. > :27:30.?32 from hole to Doncaster for me and my grandmother who is disabled.

:27:31. > :27:34.``from Hull. This correspondent says the only people who can afford to

:27:35. > :27:44.travel by train and members of Parliament on their announces.

:27:45. > :27:49.``allowances.
