:00:00. > :00:12.but it'll be turning quite breezy. Thank you very much. That's it.

:00:13. > :00:17.Good evening and welcome to BBC Look North. The headlines tonight...

:00:18. > :00:23.A call for more money from fuel duty to be spent fixing potholes.

:00:24. > :00:30.All of these taxes and it ndver goes back into the road is being done.

:00:31. > :00:32.Seven teachers are suspended at an East Yorkshire school over the

:00:33. > :00:37.I'm live in Killingholme, where the go`ahead has just been

:00:38. > :00:39.given for a new power station to supply a million homes.

:00:40. > :00:41.Hull City manager Steve Bruce says he doesn't believe

:00:42. > :00:53.What he did on transferred deadline day is not the actions of a man who

:00:54. > :00:56.wants to sell a football cltb. And the streets of Lincoln `re

:00:57. > :01:10.filled with people from the past, And after a pleasant week a decent

:01:11. > :01:19.weekend to come. I will be back later in the details. `` later in

:01:20. > :01:26.the programme with all of the details.

:01:27. > :01:28.Motorists in East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire are backing

:01:29. > :01:32.a plan for more of the monex raised from petrol and fuel duty to go

:01:33. > :01:35.?2 billion is used to repair potholes and improve roads

:01:36. > :01:38.but the Local Government Association wants much more to be spent.

:01:39. > :01:40.Hull City Council says it ndeds an extra ?4 million

:01:41. > :01:48.Lincolnshire county council says it faces a backlog of repairs.

:01:49. > :01:54.Avoiding cracks and holes on our weather`beaten roads.

:01:55. > :01:57.The legacy of severe winters and now a backlog of repairs.

:01:58. > :02:00.Motorists say they already pay a lot of tax and deserve ro`ds fit

:02:01. > :02:06.Those at the pumps in the East Riding told me they get poor

:02:07. > :02:19.Road tax, fuel tax, MOT, evdrything else, and it never goes back into

:02:20. > :02:25.the road is being done. I h`ve had my card an in twice. When they do it

:02:26. > :02:27.they only do budget repairs. Fuel duty contributes more than ?33

:02:28. > :02:30.billion a year to the UK Trdasury. Two billion of that is spent

:02:31. > :02:32.maintaining the road network. The Local Government Associ`tion

:02:33. > :02:34.says that's not enough. It wants 2 pence a litre

:02:35. > :02:38.of fuel duty to be used soldly to maintain the network `

:02:39. > :02:44.an extra ?1 billion a year. An idea which

:02:45. > :02:46.a recent survey found some of the highest support for in Yorkshire,

:02:47. > :02:57.85% of people backing the plan. Drivers will be astonished to learn

:02:58. > :03:03.how much money they contribtte to the Chancellor each year, not just

:03:04. > :03:14.in fuel duty but also vehicle excise duty and VAT. We need a bigger

:03:15. > :03:19.amount of that spent on the road network. Councils in our arda have

:03:20. > :03:24.been given an extra ?9 millhon for repairs of the road network.

:03:25. > :03:27.That could mean `` that shotld mean 150,000 potholes will be filled in.

:03:28. > :03:30.Yet Lincolnshire County Counciol still faces a repair backlog

:03:31. > :03:37.Those who drive for a living say motoring costs are adding up.

:03:38. > :03:46.Motoring is expensive, the vehicles, suspension, tyres. Going ovdr a poor

:03:47. > :03:48.surface it is `` it stands to reason that you will need repairs.

:03:49. > :03:51.Councils want more money, btt billions have been spent on repairs.

:03:52. > :03:53.And the government isn't kedn on ring`fencing money

:03:54. > :03:59.Do you think more needs to be given to councils to sort out out roads?

:04:00. > :04:01.Should the money raised by taxes on drivers be spent solely

:04:02. > :04:27.Are there any patches of potholes near to you that need fixing?

:04:28. > :04:47.The first sailing cobles for years have been launched in Lincolnshire.

:04:48. > :04:51.Three people have died in a head on collision on a road in Lincolnshire.

:04:52. > :04:54.A 70`year`old man and a 19` and 21`year`old were killed in the crash

:04:55. > :04:57.last night, and two other pdople are in hospital with serious injuries.

:04:58. > :05:00.It happened on the A52 near Chapel St Leonards. The Polhce say

:05:01. > :05:07.It is always bad that peopld are dying on the roads and we always

:05:08. > :05:12.hope the numbers will be lower than the previous year but on thhs

:05:13. > :05:14.occasion in one fell swoop three people died in one incident, and

:05:15. > :05:22.that is tragic . A human rights activist

:05:23. > :05:25.from Lincolnshire, facing trial in Thailand, has returned to Britain.

:05:26. > :05:26.Andy Hall from Spalding was charged with criminal defamation

:05:27. > :05:27.after criticising working conditions in Thailand's pineapple picking

:05:28. > :05:31.industry. He has to go back later this

:05:32. > :05:33.month and could be jailed for up to seven years if found guilty.

:05:34. > :05:38.A new power station will be built in North Lincolnshire.

:05:39. > :05:40.The government has approved plans for a gas`powered station at

:05:41. > :05:46.It will be able to power one million homes.

:05:47. > :05:47.Kate Sweeting is at the planned site.

:05:48. > :05:53.How important could this be to North Lincolnshire?

:05:54. > :05:58.Approval for the power stathon came from the Secretary of State for

:05:59. > :06:03.energy and the change earlidr today. Not only will it be able to power a

:06:04. > :06:11.million homes it will provide 1 00 construction jobs and a further 140

:06:12. > :06:16.permanent local jobs once fhnished. This is already an industri`l site,

:06:17. > :06:21.there are two gas power stations adjacent, with two oil refinery is

:06:22. > :06:26.not far away, and the company behind this told me one of the reasons they

:06:27. > :06:31.chose this area was because of the infrastructure and transport links.

:06:32. > :06:35.With this development we will be creating a large number of jobs

:06:36. > :06:41.both during construction of the plant, when we need up to 1600

:06:42. > :06:49.people, but also in the longer term, during operation. We requird up to

:06:50. > :06:54.140 people directly employed. North Lincolnshire Council has told us it

:06:55. > :07:01.is too soon to comment on this announcement. The power station will

:07:02. > :07:02.not be operational until at least 2016/2017 but building work could

:07:03. > :07:10.start as early as next year. Hull City say they're now going to

:07:11. > :07:12.appeal to the Football Association over plans to change the cltb's name

:07:13. > :07:16.to the Hull Tigers. They were going to go through the Court of

:07:17. > :07:19.Arbitration for Sport, but have reversed that decision. Thex expect

:07:20. > :07:22.a decision to be made by thd end of November. Yesterday Assem Allam told

:07:23. > :07:25.me he would sell the club if he I worked in a

:07:26. > :07:40.legal and you are You would sell it? Yes, I s`id that

:07:41. > :07:47.before. I do not call bluffs. I said, if the decision is no, I walk

:07:48. > :07:52.out. If you won in arbitrathon three months later you could be khcking

:07:53. > :07:55.yourself then. Why? Because you could have kept the club and got

:07:56. > :08:00.what you wanted. Hull City's manager Steve Bruce held

:08:01. > :08:03.his weekly press conference this morning. He said that he dodsn't

:08:04. > :08:13.believe the club's owner wants to You only had to see what he did on

:08:14. > :08:17.transfer deadline day, thesd are not the actions of a man who once to

:08:18. > :08:23.sell a football club. If he feels that strongly about the brand and

:08:24. > :08:29.the name change to help us go forward, that is his person`l

:08:30. > :08:35.belief. We have to respect that for what he has done.

:08:36. > :08:39.There's been a big reaction from you to Mr Allam's comments yestdrday.

:08:40. > :09:20.Earlier I spoke to Peter Ch`rlish, who is a lecturer in sports law

:09:21. > :09:23.I began by asking him what he thought of the decision to

:09:24. > :09:30.appeal to the Football Association over the planned name changd.

:09:31. > :09:40.I think it is very sensible. It is a logical decision, rather prddictable

:09:41. > :09:44.but I think it is sensible. Is it likely, or have they been other

:09:45. > :09:50.cases where a change has bedn made when they go to appeal after any ``

:09:51. > :09:55.and an initial decision by the FA? With regard to a change of name I

:09:56. > :10:00.have not been aware of any decisions that have gone before the F@ before.

:10:01. > :10:06.It is possible that the appdal will overturn the original decishon. It

:10:07. > :10:10.all depends, I guess, on thd strength of the submissions made by

:10:11. > :10:17.the parties and also on the strength of the original decision. They are

:10:18. > :10:28.well on in getting on with this behind the series `` the scdnes and

:10:29. > :10:36.the manager is a clever man, so do you think he can win this? H think

:10:37. > :10:41.it will be very difficult. @ssuming there is no brand`new evidence he is

:10:42. > :10:46.presenting to the appeal. Hd is a very clever man, he wouldn't say

:10:47. > :10:52.that publicly yesterday unldss he was sure, would he? I have no doubt

:10:53. > :10:56.he is a clever man but he also is not going to say publicly, H am not

:10:57. > :11:03.particularly confident. Do xou think he is going to get his own way? I

:11:04. > :11:17.would be surprised if the ddcision made his `` went his way.

:11:18. > :11:24.What do you think of the move and the appeal? We asked last nhght but

:11:25. > :11:38.if you want to comment again these are the details.

:11:39. > :11:44.The first sailing cobles for years have been launched in Lincolnshire.

:11:45. > :12:00.And the future and the past collide on the streets of Lhncoln.

:12:01. > :12:03.Matthew Phillips has taken this from Drypool Bridge looking down the

:12:04. > :12:05.River Hull towards the tidal barrier and the new footbridge.

:12:06. > :12:09."Please could Peter wish my daughter Lily good luck, as she leavds home

:12:10. > :12:23.Good luck, Lily. Where were you on Saturday when I

:12:24. > :12:30.was at the festival? I could not any `` I was thdre but I

:12:31. > :12:40.could not get anywhere near you for the hordes of Keeley Donovan fans.

:12:41. > :12:42.It looks like a nice weekend. We have had a very pleasant wedk but

:12:43. > :12:46.every morning we have had a bit of mist and fog in places, which will

:12:47. > :12:52.be the case on Saturday and Sunday as well. On the pressure ch`rt you

:12:53. > :12:59.can see the high pressure, so we are still dominated by that, me`ning a

:13:00. > :13:03.lot of settled weather to come through the weekend and into early

:13:04. > :13:08.next week. The cloud did brdak up gradually through the day so we have

:13:09. > :13:12.had some sunny spells, the best in parts of Lincolnshire. This evening

:13:13. > :13:17.and overnight the cloud will remain broken and dry. We will havd cloud

:13:18. > :13:30.breaks and because of the breeze we will have some mist and low cloud.

:13:31. > :13:37.The sun will rise at 6:30am, setting at 70 `` at 7:23pm. Tomorrow

:13:38. > :13:47.morning, a bit of a grave start in places, some patchy mist and ground

:13:48. > :13:52.fog. `` a grey start. Temperature is very similar to today's valtes,

:13:53. > :13:58.reaching the high teens, about where they should be for this timd of

:13:59. > :14:08.year. We might just clip 19 around the wash. `` the Wash. On Stnday we

:14:09. > :14:13.start with a lot of cloud, perhaps something `` some patchy mist and

:14:14. > :14:17.fog as well. It will gradually brighten up and by the afternoon the

:14:18. > :14:22.cloud should be broken and there should be some bright or sunny

:14:23. > :14:27.spells. Temperatures about `verage for the time of year, 17 or 18. High

:14:28. > :14:33.pressure continues to domin`te in the next week but I think wd will

:14:34. > :14:41.gradually see a breakdown and the increased risk of showers for Monday

:14:42. > :14:48.and Tuesday. We have a message here, how do you

:14:49. > :14:51.join the Keeley Donovan Fanclub You are the head of that Fanclub.

:14:52. > :15:06.That was from Matthew. Seven teachers at an East Yorkshire

:15:07. > :15:08.school have been suspended following claims pupils' work was

:15:09. > :15:10.falsified during an exam. Governors at the Goole High School

:15:11. > :15:12.are to investigate. The teachers have been interviewed

:15:13. > :15:15.and a report will be given to The Department for Education says

:15:16. > :15:28.it's aware of the investigation Seven members of staff suspdnded, an

:15:29. > :15:34.investigation into falsified exam entries under way. Goole High School

:15:35. > :15:41.was placed in special measures last year and is now facing allegations

:15:42. > :15:44.that a computer studies exal was manipulated. The Wakefield city

:15:45. > :15:46.academies trust that took over the school last year has confirled it is

:15:47. > :16:10.looking into it. This afternoon parents were angry

:16:11. > :16:14.and told me they had concerns about is `` about teaching standards.

:16:15. > :16:20.Absolutely disgusting, and ht is about time that they actually did

:16:21. > :16:26.reorganise the school because the teaching is abominable. The school

:16:27. > :16:33.has been going down for quite a while from what it used to be. I

:16:34. > :16:40.think there has been bad management. My daughter is 16, she has just done

:16:41. > :16:44.her exams, and as far as I `m aware there has not been any cheating She

:16:45. > :16:48.has done really well, had loads of help from the school and I don't

:16:49. > :16:53.have anything bad to say about them. How much help teachers give their

:16:54. > :16:59.pupils with exams and coursdwork is a concern for the government. It is

:17:00. > :17:05.another week before the report when the findings of the investigation

:17:06. > :17:09.are delivered. Regardless of whether there is any basis for the

:17:10. > :17:16.allegations, nationwide there is an increase in cases where teachers are

:17:17. > :17:24.accused of helping their pupils One third of pupils who responddd to one

:17:25. > :17:30.questionnaire say they have experienced this. The fact that the

:17:31. > :17:35.trust has acted quickly and swiftly is to be commended. I hope they

:17:36. > :17:42.conclude the report quickly because we do not need a dark cloud hanging,

:17:43. > :17:46.we need this finalised very quickly. If it is true of course appropriate

:17:47. > :17:51.action can be taken. The suspended staff members have been intdrviewed

:17:52. > :17:55.and a report will be presented to the trust next week. The Department

:17:56. > :18:03.for Education says it is aw`re of the allegations.

:18:04. > :18:05.We will continue to follow that if there are any developments next

:18:06. > :18:08.week. A Scunthorpe`born businessm`n is

:18:09. > :18:09.campaigning for Scotland to become independent

:18:10. > :18:11.in next week's referendum. Andy Lythgoe claims

:18:12. > :18:25.his adopted home country wotld be Scotland is my home now and has been

:18:26. > :18:30.for 25 years and I am interdsted in Scotland, my country, performing

:18:31. > :18:36.better economically. All of the studies that I have seen through my

:18:37. > :18:37.working life show that Scotland could and should be doing bdtter

:18:38. > :18:40.than it is. The Scottish independence rdferendum

:18:41. > :18:41.will be discussed in the first programme of a new

:18:42. > :18:44.series of the Sunday Politics. Guests include the East Yorkshire

:18:45. > :18:47.based UKIP MEP Jane Collins. Hull FC's Richard Horne will make

:18:48. > :19:18.his final appearance for thd Black and Whites this evening,

:19:19. > :19:21.after 16 years at the club, He made his debut when he w`s just

:19:22. > :19:25.16 years old and his colleagues have paid their tribute to the former

:19:26. > :19:31.Great Britain international. It will be great if he can roll back

:19:32. > :19:32.the years to put in an occasion like has done for some any years.

:19:33. > :20:24.We wish Richard all of the best Lincolnshire archer Carl Harding has

:20:25. > :20:26.just missed out on a medal Mr Harding from Bourne was beaten in

:20:27. > :20:30.the Bronze Medal match by another Two identical 26 foot sailing cobles

:20:31. > :20:35.` the first to be built in almost 40 years ` have bden

:20:36. > :20:39.launched today in Bridlington. With their flat bottoms and high

:20:40. > :20:42.sides, the harbour was once home to Two brand`new cobles

:20:43. > :20:51.for Bridlington. The boats were once

:20:52. > :20:54.a common sight at the harbotr ` a staple for inshore fishing all

:20:55. > :20:58.along the north east coast. Building these two has been

:20:59. > :21:13.a labour of love for John Clarkson It started off with one piece of

:21:14. > :21:18.wood and it is like a jigsaw puzzle, you keep going! It has never been

:21:19. > :21:25.documented as such and we w`nted to document it so we could makd a video

:21:26. > :21:31.and a booklet on it so we could produce it, because it has not been

:21:32. > :21:38.done before. They are a supdr shape and to go out and find trees the

:21:39. > :21:42.right shape, get all the bits and pieces you need, and when you finish

:21:43. > :21:44.them and you drop them in the water and they float, it is great

:21:45. > :21:47.The men were also behind the restoration of the

:21:48. > :21:51.First built in Bridlington lore than a hundred years ago, it

:21:52. > :22:01.She's now on the national register of historic ships.

:22:02. > :22:09.The new boats alongside the old one proved popular.

:22:10. > :22:13.I have watched these two behng constructed over the past fdw months

:22:14. > :22:17.and it is something we will not see again, a skill that has been lost

:22:18. > :22:20.forever. It is amazing to think they have

:22:21. > :22:29.been handmade using traditional materials, it is brilliant.

:22:30. > :22:39.Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for, the first of the

:22:40. > :22:41.cobles was placed in the water. Reminders of the past very luch at

:22:42. > :22:46.home in Bridlington water. Big day for cricket, becausd

:22:47. > :22:49.Yorkshire have won their first The title was sealed with a game to

:22:50. > :23:02.spare following their victory over We have waited a little while for

:23:03. > :23:08.this, it is a special time for the club and I am sure we will `ll enjoy

:23:09. > :23:12.it. It is my special time ott for my wedding anniversary. It would have

:23:13. > :23:16.been a nail`biting afternoon if it had gone on a bit that, yeah,

:23:17. > :23:20.fantastic . Imagine if our modern world

:23:21. > :23:23.of cars and computers was still being made with Victorian tdchnology

:23:24. > :23:25.like clockwork and steam power. That's what enthusiasts will be

:23:26. > :23:28.doing in Lincoln this weekend. They might look like they'rd in

:23:29. > :23:30.Victorian costume, but look closely and you'll see lots of modern

:23:31. > :23:40.upgrades, as Simon Spark explains. What happens when our everyday

:23:41. > :23:48.modern society embraces Victorian values but then makes it punk. You

:23:49. > :23:54.get the Lincolnshire steamptnk Festival and it is like another era

:23:55. > :24:00.has invaded. I thought it w`s a mad Max Convention! I think it hs

:24:01. > :24:12.fabulous and next year I might have to join them. It is basically very

:24:13. > :24:19.modern, very contemporary v`lues, but all of that creativity `nd

:24:20. > :24:27.imagination, but we draw masses of inspiration from the past,

:24:28. > :24:37.particularly Victorian era. Usually steam punk ladies dress in black and

:24:38. > :24:45.brown but I like to be a bird of paradise. This is just a maverick

:24:46. > :24:49.nerve gun that has been painted An eyepiece for detecting magic storms,

:24:50. > :24:55.clearly, and my pocket watch just to tell the time. If you want to dress

:24:56. > :25:03.like steampunk you basicallx have to dress like your grandmother did Or

:25:04. > :25:07.more like her grandmother! This is the mad Hatter's tea party, an

:25:08. > :25:17.icebreaker where everybody gets to know each other a bit better. I feel

:25:18. > :25:23.seriously underdressed. This festival is the largest of its

:25:24. > :25:30.kind in Europe and its spectacle continues throughout the wedkend, so

:25:31. > :25:37.don't be surprised to see G`ngs Of New York type stand`offs. You don't

:25:38. > :25:41.need to dress up to be part of the fun but to be quite honest ht would

:25:42. > :25:48.help. The main headlines tonight. The

:25:49. > :25:52.Reverend Ian Paisley, for ddcades the voice of hardline unionhsm in

:25:53. > :25:58.Northern Ireland, has died. Seven teachers are suspended at

:25:59. > :26:04.Goole High School over the falsification of exams.

:26:05. > :26:11.Mostly dry and sunny over the weekend, temperatures up to 18

:26:12. > :26:14.Celsius. We were talking about potholes at

:26:15. > :26:20.the start of the programme `nd whether money from fuel dutx should

:26:21. > :26:26.be used to help out. Adam s`ys my friend has just hit a pothole and
