:00:00. > :00:00.Good evening and welcome to BBC Look North.

:00:00. > :00:10.Bad conditions hamper the investigation into a helicopter

:00:11. > :00:20.crash off the East Yorkshird coast which killed two men.

:00:21. > :00:26.Unfortunately it is now at the bottom of a set of police around 150

:00:27. > :00:35.feet or so high. It will be a challenging recovery. I am live

:00:36. > :00:36.close to the crash site to read `` looking at efforts to recovdr the

:00:37. > :00:37.helicopter wreckage. Should

:00:38. > :00:40.the voting age be lowered to 16 We meet the young campaigners

:00:41. > :00:42.who say it should. Traders say introducing parking

:00:43. > :00:56.charges in parts It is just ridiculous. It whll have

:00:57. > :01:00.a negative impact on all thd businesses around here. I c`n't see

:01:01. > :01:02.anything positive that will come out of it apart from in other rdvenue

:01:03. > :01:03.source for the council. We meet the business recruited

:01:04. > :01:06.by the Red Arrows to help them And we find out how one

:01:07. > :01:10.of the world's rarest dogs dnded up Detailed weather forecast whll

:01:11. > :01:25.follow in 15 minutes. Thick fog and poor visibility has

:01:26. > :01:28.prevented investigators from moving the wreckage of a

:01:29. > :01:32.helicopter which crashed into cliffs The aircraft came down

:01:33. > :01:39.at Flamborough yesterday afternoon. An air accident investigation team

:01:40. > :01:42.has been at the site today, but has been unable to examhne the

:01:43. > :01:45.wreckage because of the conditions. The identities

:01:46. > :01:50.of the two men killed have xet to be Jo Makel has spent the day near the

:01:51. > :02:02.crash site and sent this report It has been a frustrating d`y for

:02:03. > :02:07.the inspectors. They wanted to start to recover the Jet Ranger

:02:08. > :02:13.helicopter, photographed here, minutes before it crashed into the

:02:14. > :02:18.sea below. But a six `` sit `` thick sea fog has enveloped the scene

:02:19. > :02:23.Investors are trying to work out what to do. There is discussion

:02:24. > :02:26.including recovering the helicopter by C. Alternatively we may bring in

:02:27. > :02:36.a much larger helicopter and lift it properly. That is dependent on

:02:37. > :02:39.whether. The location of thhs crash makes the recovery all the lore

:02:40. > :02:43.difficult. You cannot access the site from the beach because of the

:02:44. > :02:48.headlines lately one behind me that's just out into the se`. The

:02:49. > :02:52.sheer cliff faces and the thdes make is difficult. Today there is also

:02:53. > :02:56.the weather. Some parts of the helicopter were brought up xesterday

:02:57. > :03:04.as rescuers recovered the bodies of the two occupants. They supported

:03:05. > :03:11.the operation and were on stand`by to assist again today. The crew did

:03:12. > :03:15.practice exercises. When it is the real thing and you have real people

:03:16. > :03:23.involved, they are very sympathetic to the family of the crew. We do

:03:24. > :03:27.exercise. But it is still r`w when it is real people involved. The

:03:28. > :03:36.aircraft started its fight near Edinburgh, apparently following the

:03:37. > :03:41.closest. `` the coast. It wdnt is the East `` it went into thd sea at

:03:42. > :03:44.Flamborough yesterday afternoon There was some talk. It shotld not

:03:45. > :03:50.necessarily have been operating on racy past. There are a numbdr of

:03:51. > :03:54.reasons why it might have h`d to. There is a certain time pressure to

:03:55. > :03:58.this operation. The pounding of the waves and corrosive nose of the sea

:03:59. > :03:59.water means they would need to bring up the helicopter quickly bdfore too

:04:00. > :04:00.much damage is done. Jo Makel is live in Flamborough

:04:01. > :04:02.tonight. How much investigation work have the

:04:03. > :04:15.authorities managed to do today Here at the scene, very little. That

:04:16. > :04:19.is due to the terrible condhtions in terms of the weather and thd

:04:20. > :04:25.riskiness of where we are. There are two streams. One is an engineering

:04:26. > :04:29.one, looking at the air worthiness of the helicopter. They need the

:04:30. > :04:34.wreck to do that to examine its components. That is why to bring it

:04:35. > :04:40.up. The people were her all day that you were here all day, and `re

:04:41. > :04:44.hoping to come back at 6am tomorrow. In the background there is `nother

:04:45. > :04:48.string, looking at the oper`tion of the helicopter. They have bden able

:04:49. > :04:52.to be doing things towards that today. Looking at things like the

:04:53. > :04:57.air traffic reports, weather report, the pilot and their

:04:58. > :05:01.background as trading, expertise. Crucially, they will be looking at

:05:02. > :05:05.the eyewitness report from the people here in Flamborough who spoke

:05:06. > :05:11.yesterday about seeing and hearing the crash happened. They ard working

:05:12. > :05:15.with Humberside Police on this. They have also said that if therd is

:05:16. > :05:18.anybody who has not yet comd forward and was here and did see thd crash

:05:19. > :05:20.happen, they would very much liked is beak to them. Thank you.

:05:21. > :05:26.spokesman for the Department For Transport and has worked on air

:05:27. > :05:37.SINGING Is it normal for this to finally see

:05:38. > :05:44.when it could have flowed over the land? Following the coastline is one

:05:45. > :05:53.of the easiest to get it from a to B. How much harder will getting the

:05:54. > :05:56.black`box be? It probably h`sn't got a black box, but it will have some

:05:57. > :05:59.sort of data recorder from the engineering point of view, which

:06:00. > :06:06.gives us some idea how the dngines were operating and various other

:06:07. > :06:10.parameters. As you heard, the wreckage is on the ground, not yet

:06:11. > :06:14.recovered because it is inaccessible. Is it better for

:06:15. > :06:18.investigators to see the Rettig is in situ, rather than taking back on

:06:19. > :06:26.a bench in Farnborough for the first time. That `` the wreckage. It is

:06:27. > :06:30.always preferable. But in this case it will be difficult for thdm to go

:06:31. > :06:33.and see it in situ. It has been disturbed to a certain extent, but

:06:34. > :06:40.they would certainly want to see the engines and gearboxes that transmit

:06:41. > :06:44.power to the rotor head and tail rotor to see if there is anx fault

:06:45. > :06:53.in that which might have catsed the accident. What will be uppermost in

:06:54. > :06:57.their minds? They would want to eliminate things. If they c`n find

:06:58. > :07:02.exactly what happened, then they can say that it wasn't this, it wasn't

:07:03. > :07:06.that. The whole point of investigating is to learn ldssons

:07:07. > :07:10.for the future of aviation. If there were some major faults to bd find

:07:11. > :07:14.they would need to take immddiate action to make sure that information

:07:15. > :07:19.was passed on to the aviation authorities around the world. If

:07:20. > :07:26.there is a helicopter which has been around for a long time and to

:07:27. > :07:34.develop over the years, it hs a tried and tested machine. It is very

:07:35. > :07:37.well known. There are some very good eyewitness accounts from locals

:07:38. > :07:41.including some who say they heard a crack before the helicopter started

:07:42. > :07:45.following. Does that tell you anything? Will these eyewitness

:07:46. > :07:50.accounts be crucial? All thdse things are part of a jigsaw puzzle.

:07:51. > :07:53.The operations Inspector will be interviewing anyone who has anything

:07:54. > :08:00.they feel they can contribute to this. Another thing they will be

:08:01. > :08:03.looking at is the engineering records of the aircraft to lake sure

:08:04. > :08:05.it had been properly maintahned and was functioning correctly. Thank

:08:06. > :08:13.you. Scunthorpe United respond to

:08:14. > :08:44.recent criticism of the sidd as Under 18 's will be able to vote

:08:45. > :08:50.tomorrow in Scotland, which has prompted young people here to argue

:08:51. > :09:02.that they should be allowed to vote too. You are listening to ldgacy

:09:03. > :09:06.radio. We are talking of thhngs got us this morning. No prizes for

:09:07. > :09:12.guessing the main topic of conversation.

:09:13. > :09:14.While these students have an opinion on current polithcal

:09:15. > :09:19.Unlike 16 and 17 year olds north of the border who will be allowed

:09:20. > :09:21.to take part in tomorrow's referendum, a first

:09:22. > :09:26.Teenagers here in Scunthorpd will have to wait until they are 18 to

:09:27. > :09:28.cast their votes, but some believe the Scottish referendum shotld

:09:29. > :09:45.I think if 16 or 17`year`olds were voting and think it would breathe

:09:46. > :09:51.life into politics and issuds because there is so much th`t is

:09:52. > :09:52.good care about. Figures reveal that younger people are less likdly to

:09:53. > :09:52.vote. In 2010 only 44%

:09:53. > :10:10.of 18`24 year`olds used thehr votes What do you say to people who say

:10:11. > :10:15.that you are not mature enotgh at 16 to make these decisions? Whdn

:10:16. > :10:19.tuition fees were put up a lot of students were angered by th`t and it

:10:20. > :10:26.will affect me, even though I wasn't able to vote. The stereotypd is

:10:27. > :10:29.totally wrong when there ard thousands of students studyhng

:10:30. > :10:32.politics and economics at A`level and on to degree level. For a

:10:33. > :10:34.Scottish youths to be able to vote it is a major step forward.

:10:35. > :10:37.More than four decades have passed since the voting age was lowered

:10:38. > :10:40.from 21 to 18 and some belidve it should be reduced to 16.

:10:41. > :10:42.Ministers said there are currently no plans to reduce

:10:43. > :10:46.from 21 to 18 and some belidve it should be reduced to 16.

:10:47. > :10:58.The argument is that you can join the Army at 16, you can apply, but

:10:59. > :11:00.you cannot go out an operathon. 18 is most appropriate.

:11:01. > :11:02.Ministers said there are currently no plans to reduce

:11:03. > :11:05.the voting age across the UK, but they may come under rendwed

:11:06. > :11:12.pressure if Scottish teenagdrs turn out in numbers tomorrow.

:11:13. > :11:15.We want to hear from you on this story.

:11:16. > :11:17.Do you think the age of voting should be lowered?

:11:18. > :11:26.Maybe you are 16 or 17 and think your opinion should be counted?

:11:27. > :11:47.The latest unemployment figtres show a mixed picture across our `rea

:11:48. > :11:51.In Yorkshire and Humber 203,000 people are out of work.

:11:52. > :11:54.A fall of 15,000 compared to the previous quarter.

:12:15. > :12:19.The decision has now been rdferred back to Boston Borough Council who

:12:20. > :12:25.voted to approve the plans last month.

:12:26. > :12:30.Shop owners on the Bailgate area of Lincoln say that if charges are

:12:31. > :12:32.introduced for on`street parking, it would damage trade.

:12:33. > :12:37.The proposal is being considered by the City of Lincoln Council,

:12:38. > :12:41.who say traders and residents have nothing to worry about.

:12:42. > :12:47.Here in the heart of Lincoln's historic quarter, motorists can park

:12:48. > :12:53.The city is unusual in not charging for on`street parkhng.

:12:54. > :12:56.But a report on parking str`tegy for the City Council suggests

:12:57. > :13:02.The report says the free parking undercuts the council's own car

:13:03. > :13:12.Shop owners say they'd fight any such plans tooth and nahl.

:13:13. > :13:19.It is just ridiculous. It whll have a negative impact on all thd

:13:20. > :13:22.businesses around here. I c`n't see anything positive that will come out

:13:23. > :13:28.of it apart from another revenue source for the council. The

:13:29. > :13:35.council's report describes these of free parking bays on bail great as a

:13:36. > :13:39.premium product and says th`t their users should expect to pray a

:13:40. > :13:40.premium price to party. That might expect to pay.

:13:41. > :13:43.Motorists who use the spaces disagree.

:13:44. > :13:53.I wouldn't come up here. People visit these days. That makes a

:13:54. > :13:57.difference. If you type that Macs start charging, people would come.

:13:58. > :13:58.The parking charges are extortionate.

:13:59. > :14:03.The council's executive will consider the report next Monday

:14:04. > :14:10.You might have a view on this story as well.

:14:11. > :14:19.They say that there is `` this is not a policy that we think should be

:14:25. > :14:32.Monday. Any decision will undergo considerable consultation.

:14:33. > :14:34.You might have a view on this story as well.

:14:35. > :14:36.Should free parking in areas like this be kept?

:14:37. > :14:52.If you run a business, do you worry about the impact it could h`ve?

:15:03. > :15:15.We find out how Inca ended up living in our area.

:15:16. > :15:39.Hannah Fletcher took this of Anderby Creek:

:15:40. > :15:47.We just got an extra for yot tonight. Helen Wilkinson from will

:15:48. > :15:54.be spotted this cloud yesterday which looks like it in a sh`pe of

:15:55. > :16:01.the UK. She can't work out whether this is with Scotland or without

:16:02. > :16:09.it. I think she's been on the Sherry!

:16:10. > :16:24.I said engage your brain before you say anything! Let's have a look at

:16:25. > :16:35.the weather. We've got some bright and sunny intervals. There hs some

:16:36. > :16:40.humidity and overcast skies. Temperatures at 16`17 Celsits. It

:16:41. > :16:49.could be up to 24 tomorrow afternoon. Unfortunately, this cloud

:16:50. > :16:57.has not budged all day. The cloud will beckon and get lower. We'll see

:16:58. > :17:04.some folk along the Hill co`st. It will be big enough to produce some

:17:05. > :17:20.drizzle and produce temperatures of 13`14dC. This is very mild. So, a

:17:21. > :17:25.dull, grey damp and misty start Gradually, visibility will hmprove

:17:26. > :17:38.and it will be a better chance of seeing some sunny breaks in West

:17:39. > :17:48.Lincolnshire. 16`17 Celsius. A bit of brightness lifting up with

:17:49. > :17:54.temperatures up to 23 Celsits. Across the UK, it's been thd driest

:17:55. > :18:11.start this September since 09 1 . High`pressure is in charge `nd a

:18:12. > :18:16.chance of brightness on Sunday. Last night one of the callers sahd: I

:18:17. > :18:23.wouldn't wear a shirt and the like that. It looks ridiculous!

:18:24. > :18:36.Have you had a domestic? They are a key part

:18:37. > :18:39.of the iconic Red Arrows displays. Well, thanks to the help from an

:18:40. > :18:41.East Yorkshire manufacturing team, the Red Arrows have been able to

:18:42. > :18:44.continue wowing the crowds during their 50th display sdason.

:18:45. > :18:46.For the last 18 months, BAE Systems in Brough have been

:18:47. > :18:48.building the special smoke pods that add the colour to

:18:49. > :18:50.their spectacular displays. Simon Spark reports.

:18:51. > :18:53.The breath`taking aerobatics of the Red Arrows have kept them up there

:18:54. > :18:57.There's pride too with their Lincolnshire connections being

:18:58. > :19:00.based at RAF Scampton and now further pride with

:19:01. > :19:05.Here at BAE Systems, in Brotgh, they've been manufacturing

:19:06. > :19:09.a key component of their display, the pods that produce their

:19:10. > :19:28.The point you see behind us is the front`end. Normally, this would give
