:00:11. > :00:13.A community group which took over Hornsea's Floral Hall

:00:14. > :00:15.after it was threatened with demolition say its

:00:16. > :00:18.The east coast attraction will operate without any financial

:00:19. > :00:21.help from the council for the first time next year.

:00:22. > :00:23.The hall had been losing thousands of pounds of tax payers money,

:00:24. > :00:35.Cinema club at Hornsea's Floral Hall.

:00:36. > :00:37.One of a number of activities put on by this community

:00:38. > :00:41.for the community to keep this venue alive.

:00:42. > :00:44.And it's proving popular just five years since the lights almost

:00:45. > :01:07.All these volunteers made such a lot of it. The events and activities, it

:01:08. > :01:09.is a centre for the community. If it closed that would be devastating for

:01:10. > :01:11.a small place like this. Today the Floral Hall is run

:01:12. > :01:13.by a community group, backed financially by the East Riding

:01:14. > :01:15.of Yorkshire Council. But 2017 will be their moment

:01:16. > :01:18.of truth, because that's when the council money comes

:01:19. > :01:27.to an end. Literally by the middle of next year

:01:28. > :01:31.we are now grown with no safety net or anything, but I am not bothered

:01:32. > :01:33.about that, because we are running it as a business for the community

:01:34. > :01:35.and we are making a profit. At its worst, Hornsea's Floral Hall

:01:36. > :01:37.was costing the council But after handing it over

:01:38. > :01:44.with a final ?180,000's worth of help, last year the Hall

:01:45. > :01:57.made a profit of ?10,000 The community are running it with

:01:58. > :01:58.their own business plan and using volunteers and other means the

:01:59. > :02:00.council can't. the future of Hornsea's Floral Hall

:02:01. > :02:04.looks secure, even as The Mayor of Grantham says

:02:05. > :02:09.she's received abusive messages from people unhappy

:02:10. > :02:12.that she welcomed the Belvoir Hunt Councillor Linda Wooten

:02:13. > :02:16.carried out the traditional Anti Hunt campaigners

:02:17. > :02:32.turned out in opposition. It's not been very nice but I was

:02:33. > :02:37.determined I wouldn't be intimidated and that was absolutely no way I was

:02:38. > :02:40.going to pull out of my public role this morning, and to see the public

:02:41. > :02:41.has made my day because I have proved my point.

:02:42. > :02:43.In football, Hull City are drawing 0-0 against Manchester City

:02:44. > :02:47.In League One, Scunthorpe United stay top following a 0-0

:02:48. > :02:50.Grimsby Town beat Accrington Stanley 2-0 in League Two.

:02:51. > :02:52.Lincoln City are down to second in the National League

:02:53. > :03:00.North Ferriby United lost today's clash with neighbours York City

:03:01. > :03:04.It was the first time the two had met in a competitive game and around

:03:05. > :03:06.2,000 turned up to watch it alongside our sports

:03:07. > :03:23.With both of these sides facing relegation and a big crowd expected,

:03:24. > :03:30.fans were urged to turn up early, and the dead. This was the cue one

:03:31. > :03:34.hour before kick-off, the biggest attendance since North Ferriby

:03:35. > :03:38.United made their promotion into the National League. It was York City

:03:39. > :03:42.who made all the key moves in the first half with the deadlock broken

:03:43. > :03:53.30 minutes into the game. In the second half, the wind even things up

:03:54. > :03:57.a bit. Minutes from the end, Sutton almost got the elusive equaliser,

:03:58. > :04:02.but it was not to be for the team from the East Riding. The sun was in

:04:03. > :04:07.my eyes and must have been in the goalkeeper's eyes, so very

:04:08. > :04:13.disappointing. Played all right, need to improve for the New Year

:04:14. > :04:17.games definitely. What did you make? Enjoyed the football match. Scrappy

:04:18. > :04:24.goal and in the second half they did goal and in the second half they did

:04:25. > :04:29.what they dead and tried to get in the box and unfortunately we just

:04:30. > :04:32.couldn't put one on the end of it. As the two managers conclude duties

:04:33. > :04:38.they are talking about one thing only and that is meeting each other

:04:39. > :04:42.again because these two sides do battle at Bootham Crescent on New

:04:43. > :04:44.Year's Day. Let's hope for everybody's sake it is a far better

:04:45. > :04:45.match. Around 40 swimmers have

:04:46. > :04:47.braved the cold to take part in a Boxing Day dip

:04:48. > :04:49.at South Landing in Flamborough. People dressed in Superhero costumes

:04:50. > :04:52.plunged into the North Sea It's the eighth year

:04:53. > :05:08.that it's taken place. It's just really charitable and it's

:05:09. > :05:11.good fun. I'm from Germany and we don't do this crazy stuff so I just

:05:12. > :05:18.wanted to test it. Really nice people with a hot toddy afterwords

:05:19. > :05:29.to warn the brave people up. After a cold day it is going to be a

:05:30. > :05:34.cold night and the temperature takes a real tumble, so the odd patch of

:05:35. > :05:39.frost and Fog is quite possible. The temperature in towns and cities

:05:40. > :05:42.dropping to two Celsius but ruling it could drop low and we could see

:05:43. > :05:47.frost, but the crisp and bright start to the data model and things

:05:48. > :05:50.looking largely Diane settled. Look at all that sunshine, but the

:05:51. > :05:54.temperature would claim that much because when the light winds it will

:05:55. > :05:58.feel quite chilly with highs of about seven Celsius.

:05:59. > :06:02.That's the latest and we will be back tomorrow lunchtime, goodbye.

:06:03. > :06:06.and longer spells of rain over northern isles. By the end of the

:06:07. > :06:11.night, temperatures recovering once again after a chilly evening, three

:06:12. > :06:16.to five Celsius. Tomorrow and for the next couple of days, we have

:06:17. > :06:20.this area of high pressure which will really settle the weather down,

:06:21. > :06:26.compared with of late. We start tomorrow on a mainly dry note. There

:06:27. > :06:29.will be a few showers continuing in the north-west and the northern

:06:30. > :06:33.isles, and the wind picking up here as we go through the day. Elsewhere,

:06:34. > :06:38.it's looking dry, with plenty of brightness and sunshine and not as

:06:39. > :06:44.raw a field tomorrow as we have had today, with less in the way of wind.

:06:45. > :06:48.Temperature wise, up a notch to around seven to nine Celsius. For

:06:49. > :06:52.the rest of the UK, we are also under the influence of high

:06:53. > :06:55.pressure. Dry conditions across the board, with brightness and sunshine

:06:56. > :06:58.and very little in terms of wins.
