:00:19. > :00:20.survey showing why the head of Humberside Police

:00:21. > :00:32.Our members want to do the best job they can for Humberside Police. When

:00:33. > :00:35.they can't do that that sonic causes of problems.

:00:36. > :00:38.More sales and more jobs - one of East Yorkshire's biggest

:00:39. > :00:44.employers says the caravan industry is booming.

:00:45. > :00:47.The water filling up with plastic - experts warn of disaster if rubbish

:00:48. > :00:55.The number of rubbish in our seas is much more than we thought and it is

:00:56. > :00:58.an issue we need to battle now. Lincoln City's FA Cup heroes return

:00:59. > :01:08.to league action as they make Soon they will be on the pitch at

:01:09. > :01:16.the Emirates but first they must concentrate on their planned for

:01:17. > :01:20.promotion. Things are turning unsettled as storm Doris approaches.

:01:21. > :01:32.I will be with you shortly. Low morale and no confidence

:01:33. > :01:34.in management - the damning staff survey showing why the head

:01:35. > :01:36.of Humberside Police As a damning survey

:01:37. > :01:42.published by the Police and Crime Commissioner -

:01:43. > :01:45.who asked Curran to step aside - reveals a lack of confidence

:01:46. > :01:47.in the way the force The union representing police staff

:01:48. > :01:55.has called for Humberside's replacement Chief Constable to take

:01:56. > :01:57.staff concerns seriously, the day after Justin Curran

:01:58. > :02:00.was removed from the top post. It comes as a damning survey

:02:01. > :02:02.published by the Police and Crime Commissioner -

:02:03. > :02:05.who asked Curran to step aside - reveals a lack of confidence

:02:06. > :02:07.in the way the force Katy Austin has been following this

:02:08. > :02:11.story and joins me now, 39% of staff responded

:02:12. > :02:17.to this survey, carried out in September last year,

:02:18. > :02:18.when Justine Curran Of those 67% - didn't have

:02:19. > :02:22.confidence in chief officers and senior managers leading

:02:23. > :02:23.Humberside Police 84% said changes within the force

:02:24. > :02:28.aren't well managed 67% - said chief officers and senior

:02:29. > :02:30.managers weren't open or transparent 68% - didn't think Humberside Police

:02:31. > :02:33.cared about its staff It'll be up to the NEW

:02:34. > :02:35.Chief Constable to try As Justine Curran clears her desk,

:02:36. > :02:40.the search is on to replace her. We asked some victims

:02:41. > :02:42.of crime what they want from the new Chief Constable: James'

:02:43. > :02:54.laundrettes in Hull have been More visible policing on the

:02:55. > :02:58.streets. When the police are able to get on the streets we have seen some

:02:59. > :03:03.really good results but we don't see that same consistency throughout the

:03:04. > :03:12.city. Scunthorpe residents are trying to keep their allotment

:03:13. > :03:17.secure after suffering break-ins. There is a lot of crime in the area.

:03:18. > :03:19.The union that represents some police staff, says raising police

:03:20. > :03:21.morale should be a priority for the new chief.

:03:22. > :03:23.It has been very turbulent, morale's very low.

:03:24. > :03:26.I want to see a new Chief Constable that engages with the workforce,

:03:27. > :03:29.so it's not just about listening, it's about listening and taking

:03:30. > :03:32.seriously the views of the workforce.

:03:33. > :03:35.The Police and Crime Commissioner says they'll need to regain faith

:03:36. > :03:51.Whenever I get is gotten engaged workforce for the communities in the

:03:52. > :03:54.area. I believe they need to be a good indicator because that

:03:55. > :04:01.relationship needs to be backed by the leadership of the force. Not

:04:02. > :04:04.just more officers on the streets. -- communicator.

:04:05. > :04:05.Staff morale is one of several challenges

:04:06. > :04:11.by Justine Curran in 2015 went down badly with many staff.

:04:12. > :04:13.Inspectors then gave the force a rare inadequate rating,

:04:14. > :04:15.and on their next visit said improvement was still needed.

:04:16. > :04:17.Inspectors are due to release another report next week.

:04:18. > :04:20.A leading police commentator says it could be bad news.

:04:21. > :04:23.It could even explain why the PCC decided now was the right time

:04:24. > :04:36.I understand he has been made aware of some of the criticisms, in

:04:37. > :04:41.particular in the area of vulnerability. That is a major

:04:42. > :04:44.aspect of his decision. Put all this against a background

:04:45. > :04:46.of Government funding cuts, large staffing cuts and rising crime

:04:47. > :04:49.- and it seems Humberside's new Chief Constable

:04:50. > :04:53.has quite a job to do. So how do you recruit

:04:54. > :04:55.a new Chief Constable? Well, Keith Hunter

:04:56. > :04:57.is starting today. He's writing to all police officers

:04:58. > :05:00.in the UK who might fit the job description,

:05:01. > :05:02.telling them there's a vacancy. existing Chief Constables,

:05:03. > :05:07.their deputies and assistants. round police magazines,

:05:08. > :05:12.job advert websites, advertised abroad for a new Chief

:05:13. > :05:18.Constable. As for how much the new chief

:05:19. > :05:27.will earn - well, that's set nationally at around ?145,000

:05:28. > :05:36.a year for the Humberisde force. What do you think the new police

:05:37. > :05:54.constable should do , Maybe want to comment on the staff

:05:55. > :05:56.survey today. Maybe you work at the Humberside Police force and you have

:05:57. > :06:13.a view. Britain is in the grip of a caravan

:06:14. > :06:16.and motorhome boom and ownership is highest in the Yorkshire

:06:17. > :06:20.and Northern Lincolnshire. The Caravan and Motorhome Club says

:06:21. > :06:24.more and more families are opting to take to the road

:06:25. > :06:28.for touring holidays. Manufacturers from our area say

:06:29. > :06:33.they're taking on more staff Our Business Correspondent

:06:34. > :06:42.Leanne Brown reports. It was designed to bridge the gap

:06:43. > :06:48.between tents and caravans. This is the Swift's newly

:06:49. > :06:49.launched Base Camp. Compact - with modern features

:06:50. > :06:52.like turning on the heating with your mobile phone -

:06:53. > :07:02.they've been designed to apeal We hope it will appeal to a broader

:07:03. > :07:08.range of customers. But them into caravanning. Sales are very strong.

:07:09. > :07:10.We are investing heavily in our people and in the factory and we are

:07:11. > :07:17.recruiting at the moment. For the last 60 years Brits have

:07:18. > :07:31.embraced caravans and motorhomes, We saw during the recession that

:07:32. > :07:34.people tried staying at home holidays there can be really enjoyed

:07:35. > :07:35.it and that are defined and the continent are fantastic place to

:07:36. > :07:41.explore. The amount of money spent on touring

:07:42. > :07:44.holidays is expected to rise from ?2.6 million this year to 3.6

:07:45. > :07:47.million by 2030 - It's estimated that 750,000

:07:48. > :07:50.caravans and motorhomes are currently in use -

:07:51. > :07:52.but that's expected to rise This holiday park in East Yorkshire

:07:53. > :08:00.recently intriduced a 70 pitch touring site - as interest

:08:01. > :08:11.in visiting the area grows. The weather is better and the

:08:12. > :08:15.culture thing also helped us we're getting plenty and quietly switch

:08:16. > :08:19.lead on to sales. In terms of the static caravans and the lodges. And

:08:20. > :08:27.the other thing we introduced last year was the tooling cart and

:08:28. > :08:36.Drusilla massive spike in interest in that for the spring leading into

:08:37. > :08:39.the summer this year. As the caravan and camping motor show gets under

:08:40. > :08:41.way in Birmingham today it is hoped even more people will be tempted to

:08:42. > :08:47.take to the road. Around 70 people have

:08:48. > :08:50.lost their jobs at a medical Staff were told today that

:08:51. > :08:53.Sutton Manufacturing Solutions has gone into administration

:08:54. > :09:08.and they won't be paid for work They got a text message asking them

:09:09. > :09:13.to go to meeting this afternoon of whether were told their jobs or

:09:14. > :09:17.longer exist. Administrators say they have been trying to find a

:09:18. > :09:21.buyer for the company which makes the medical and dental supplies. But

:09:22. > :09:26.that has not worked and so the firm will shut down. The current owners

:09:27. > :09:30.only to charge in 2012 but there are people who have been working at the

:09:31. > :09:33.site for 30 years or more. None of the directors were at the meeting

:09:34. > :09:37.this afternoon and staff told us they are really disappointed with

:09:38. > :09:41.how this has been handled. I have worked for this company for 15 years

:09:42. > :09:49.and says his people have taken over the last two years they have treated

:09:50. > :09:52.the staff very bad. I have worked here for 32 years and was due my

:09:53. > :09:56.money at the end of January and never received a penny of my

:09:57. > :10:01.redundancy offer. I had a hunch they were going under so I came in today

:10:02. > :10:17.and travelled all the way up to from Worcestershire. I'm 62 no. Have the

:10:18. > :10:20.owners said anything? The company directors are from Croatia and

:10:21. > :10:30.either not answering the only phone line we have for them. Staff have

:10:31. > :10:33.been told that any action could be a long process.

:10:34. > :10:36.A doctors' surgery in Lincolnshire has been put in to special measures,

:10:37. > :10:39.Westside Surgery in Boston has been told that it

:10:40. > :10:41.must improve safety, effectiveness and leadership

:10:42. > :10:43.following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission.

:10:44. > :10:56.The surgery says all the issues highlighted have now been rectified.

:10:57. > :11:00.Inspectors return to the East Midlands Ambulance Service today.

:11:01. > :11:02.Last year the Care Quality Commission criticised a shortage

:11:03. > :11:04.of staff and vehicles at East Midlands Ambulance Service.

:11:05. > :11:07.It said in particular EMAS needed to address safety concerns over

:11:08. > :11:10.EMAS says it welcomes this new inspection and have invested

:11:11. > :11:12.a significant amount of time addressing the concerns.

:11:13. > :11:14.Police have finished confiscating thousands of weapons

:11:15. > :11:18.Officers were called to Skydock at Faldingworth near Market Rasen

:11:19. > :11:20.last week after the Home Office withdrew its licence.

:11:21. > :11:35.The future of the Humberston Fitties once again goes back

:11:36. > :11:36.to councillors tonight in North East Lincolnshire.

:11:37. > :11:39.Chalet owners want to buy the lease of the chalet park

:11:40. > :11:41.from the council but another bidder has been successful.

:11:42. > :11:44.A final decision was postponed last week and will be

:11:45. > :11:54.We don't know what they are going to do with us.

:11:55. > :11:57.Whether they're going to go to lease, weather we're getting

:11:58. > :11:59.the same leases as have now from the council.

:12:00. > :12:02.I'm hoping to set up as soon as possible

:12:03. > :12:04.Cabinet meeting after tonight 's scrutiny meeting.

:12:05. > :12:06.After scrutiny has made its recommendation as well.

:12:07. > :12:13.That will take as into further negotiations with that said

:12:14. > :12:16.preferred bidder, if indeed one is chosen and I'm hoping at that

:12:17. > :12:22.involvement from the tenants themselves.

:12:23. > :12:24.It's been revealed that Pleasure Island was considered

:12:25. > :12:26.as a site for a new community stadium for Grimsby Town.

:12:27. > :12:29.The amusement park which closed in October was one of

:12:30. > :12:31.17 sites looked at but North East Lincolnshire

:12:32. > :12:33.council decided that the land off the Peaks Parkway

:12:34. > :12:37.Next week the cabinet will hold a special meeting to look

:12:38. > :12:52.Still to come: The rubbish filling up our seas -

:12:53. > :13:04.why experts warn we MUST stop throwing away so much plastic.

:13:05. > :13:08.Imagine, if you will, you are 16, you can't drive on the road and you

:13:09. > :13:09.become the British Junior Saloon Car Champion.

:13:10. > :13:22.Well, that's what happened to a girl from East Yorkshire,

:13:23. > :13:34.Robert Hinchcliffe took this of Ashbyville Lake in Scunthorpe.

:13:35. > :13:54.I see Duckworth is backed by public demand, I assume. -- the quiff is

:13:55. > :13:59.back. We're in for a change over the next few days. That is a storm on

:14:00. > :14:03.the way. A lot of talk about storm Doris. Rain clearing by the time you

:14:04. > :14:08.get to tomorrow morning and it will turn brighter later on. Overnight we

:14:09. > :14:10.will see this weather front pollution from the West introducing

:14:11. > :14:14.heavier spells of rain further inland across the shocks and

:14:15. > :14:19.Lincolnshire that makes its way towards the cause it will tend to

:14:20. > :14:23.fizzle out out on lose a bit of strength. Lows tonight of seven

:14:24. > :14:27.Celsius. That westerly breeze will really pick up and it will be

:14:28. > :14:36.notable tomorrow. High water tomorrow will be at just after

:14:37. > :14:43.quarter past three in Harlem. -- Hull. There will be a boundary

:14:44. > :14:48.between slightly elderly and colder air which is a lot clearer. I don't

:14:49. > :14:51.think you will be disappointed by things when we get to tomorrow

:14:52. > :15:03.afternoon. We will see bright sunny spells and temperatures responding

:15:04. > :15:08.nicely. 10 degrees 12 degrees. Storm Doris is an area of low pressure

:15:09. > :15:12.moving in from the West. What we will see with a spinning and

:15:13. > :15:17.anticlockwise fashion is pulling in colder air from the north. You can

:15:18. > :15:22.see some snow on the western edges of this. Storm Doris will get to us

:15:23. > :15:32.on Thursday. Strong winds and heavy rain. A risk of snow. Warnings in

:15:33. > :15:41.force. Go to the BBC weather site. There are still not be great. Some

:15:42. > :15:46.unsettled conditions. You have been so sweet over the last few months

:15:47. > :15:48.and you have run at all in one fell swoop. You will be hearing from the

:15:49. > :15:53.You will be hearing from the solicitor.

:15:54. > :15:56.Scientists are calling for even more to be done to reduce the amount

:15:57. > :16:06.East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. and on the beaches of

:16:07. > :16:08.Recent data has shown that the problem of marine litter

:16:09. > :16:10.is even more widespread than was once thought.

:16:11. > :16:12.It's believed that some of the first plastics ever made

:16:13. > :16:15.are still floating around and causing damage to sea life.

:16:16. > :16:17.Our Environment Correspondent Paul Murphy has been finding out

:16:18. > :16:27.what is being done locally to combat the problem.

:16:28. > :16:30.A half-term clean-up on the shore at Flamborough courtesy

:16:31. > :16:34.Hidden in the stones they're finding dozens of pieces of plastic waste -

:16:35. > :16:36.and these young volunteers know all too well why this

:16:37. > :16:40.Animals can pick it up and they can eat it.

:16:41. > :16:44.And the chemicals can upset the stomach when it gets inside.

:16:45. > :16:47.In summer there's a bunch of birds go

:16:48. > :16:51.up on the cliffs and plastic and rubbish on the beach

:16:52. > :16:57.Earlier this month we reported on the discovery of nearly a mile

:16:58. > :16:59.of plastic waste at the mouth of the Humber at Spurn.

:17:00. > :17:04.And this is only the plastic we can see.

:17:05. > :17:20.happens is that these break down in the sea, they get

:17:21. > :17:33.smaller and smaller, they get digested by birds and by fish.

:17:34. > :17:37.They pick-up so much plastic rubbish here at Flamborough

:17:38. > :17:43.they even turn into wall art to highlight the problem.

:17:44. > :17:45.The scale of the amount of rubbish that

:17:46. > :17:48.is out in our seas is much greater than we maybe originally thought.

:17:49. > :17:52.It really is an issue that we really need to be able to battle now.

:17:53. > :17:55.Scientists believe the 5p charge on plastic shopping bags has

:17:56. > :18:00.One thing that would be a good idea is to bring

:18:01. > :18:06.Getting people to learn how to recycle.

:18:07. > :18:09.There are many more beach cleans-ups planned for the coming months -

:18:10. > :18:12.these help of course but the stuff that is being washed up

:18:13. > :18:16.reperesents just a fraction of the litter in our seas.

:18:17. > :18:33.Paul Murphy, BBC Look North Flamborough.

:18:34. > :18:39.Interesting what the gentleman was saying about the old days with

:18:40. > :18:43.deposits on bottles. Maybe that is a good idea to stop if you want to

:18:44. > :18:46.comment on that one there is the e-mail address.

:18:47. > :18:52.Last night we were talking about the possible introduction

:18:53. > :18:56.of special hoods - called spit hoods

:18:57. > :18:58.that could be used by the police to protect them

:18:59. > :19:01.against people who try to spit at or bite them.

:19:02. > :19:03.The fabric guards would be put on the person

:19:04. > :19:06.They're being used by some forces but are controversial

:19:07. > :19:13.with campaigners claiming they are cruel and degrading.

:19:14. > :19:15.Here are just a few of your responses.

:19:16. > :19:18.Polly from Barton says "People who say it's not right

:19:19. > :19:21.for the police to use these spitting hoods should spend a couple

:19:22. > :19:23.of days with them, they'd soon change their minds.

:19:24. > :19:25.It's disgusting and degrading, and the police shouldn't

:19:26. > :19:33.Mark from Beverley adds "If do-gooders feel

:19:34. > :19:36.a spit mask is degrading, see if they'd like to go to work

:19:37. > :19:42.And finally from Dee in Lincoln: "I think we should consider

:19:43. > :19:46.the use of spit guards in all public services.

:19:47. > :19:51.I've worked in the NHS for years and been subjected to assault

:21:07. > :21:09.Lincoln supporters. This is a place largely run by volunteers sought for

:21:10. > :21:15.them it has been one of the largest ever weeks. Very mad. We had

:21:16. > :21:19.imagined Saturday so we had to turn everything around ready to go again

:21:20. > :21:24.today and it has been manic with ticket sales and phones ringing. It

:21:25. > :21:30.is fantastic. And the interest that it has brought. Just days ago the

:21:31. > :21:34.Empson were running out onto a Premier League pitch but tonight

:21:35. > :21:41.they will have to settle for the finest turf at North Ferriby. Many

:21:42. > :21:46.fans have told me today still a very important game.

:21:47. > :21:52.It is great going to Burnley and going into their ground are coming

:21:53. > :21:57.back here shows non-league football at its best. The cup run has been

:21:58. > :22:04.magnificent but the league is what we have been praying for the last

:22:05. > :22:08.five miserable seasons. I had this one pencil then that it was

:22:09. > :22:10.difficult with lots of any tickets to guarantee getting here but we got

:22:11. > :22:30.the tickets and I'm so excited. You could mistake this is a scene

:22:31. > :22:34.from Sincil Bank. It is start that the Lincoln City fans will be the
