:01:29. > :01:31.Geoff Bielby's son Jonathan is recovering from what his family
:01:32. > :01:37.The latest figures show that in England,
:01:38. > :01:39.more than 3,600 men took their own lives.
:01:40. > :01:41.In the East Midlands, which includes Lincolnshire,
:01:42. > :01:47.While in Yorkshire and the Humber, there were 422 suicides in men,
:01:48. > :01:49.meaning our area has some of the highest rates
:01:50. > :01:57.Geoff has been speaking to our reporter Matt Dean
:01:58. > :01:59.about his family's experience and how he found support
:02:00. > :02:09.I was looking forward to the start of the football season.
:02:10. > :02:12.I got a phone call, dropped everything, and Jonathan has been
:02:13. > :02:16.Up until then, Geoff Bielby had no idea his son
:02:17. > :02:22.To him, he was just a carefree lad in his 30s but that day
:02:23. > :02:26.His partner, his close friends and his family had
:02:27. > :02:34.That is one of the saddest things, that it's not uncommon for men
:02:35. > :02:48.They say big boys don't cry, stiff upper lip, all of those sort of
:02:49. > :02:56.classic phrases that mean that men just cannot open up. But now it need
:02:57. > :03:02.not be that way thanks to the formation of Blokes United. We want
:03:03. > :03:07.men to realise that they can talk. And if the door to get lads to talk
:03:08. > :03:13.it through sport, then great. That is what we're about, opening up for
:03:14. > :04:18.lads to talk. We have a couple of lads with average age, late 30s,
:04:19. > :04:19.early 40s, and a few look at them from afar, they have come out of
:04:20. > :04:47.drugs and Earlier I spoke to Alistair
:04:48. > :04:49.Campbell, Tony Blair's former spin I asked him why he thinks men
:04:50. > :04:59.find it so hard to talk We are talking centuries of human
:05:00. > :05:03.development, and the notion that women are the soft, caring type and
:05:04. > :05:08.men are hard, breadwinners, fighters and warriors. And culturally, it has
:05:09. > :05:13.just developed like that. I do think it is changing. The kind of thing
:05:14. > :05:17.you have been highlighting tonight, these things are happening,
:05:18. > :05:22.piecemeal, older the country. And I do think there is a change taking
:05:23. > :05:25.place and if we keep working and campaigning we can get a tipping
:05:26. > :05:29.point and get real change to the point where people feel they can be
:05:30. > :05:34.as open about mental health as about physical health. When someone is
:05:35. > :05:39.down, depressed or wrestling demons, do they just feel terribly isolated
:05:40. > :05:44.and lonely and on their own? A lot of people do. I can only speak for
:05:45. > :05:49.myself. When I find very bad depression cop you feel very low in
:05:50. > :05:53.your mood, you feel lacking in energy and purpose. And ultimately
:05:54. > :05:58.you start to question whether there is any point being alive at all.
:05:59. > :06:01.Depression, when it's bad, you feel Depression, when it's bad, you feel
:06:02. > :06:02.like you are dead and alive at the same time. It is a truly horrible
:06:03. > :06:08.thing. But I have found that I can thing. But I have found that I
:06:09. > :06:13.be more open about it with my family be more open about it with my family
:06:14. > :06:17.and with people I work with and I take medication every day now. And
:06:18. > :06:22.for years I resisted that. I didn't want to take medication but I take
:06:23. > :06:27.it now and I feel better. It is interesting, your focus on sport. I
:06:28. > :06:31.find that doing exercise every day, which I do, that has definitely
:06:32. > :06:35.helped my mental health. The other thing to understand is that mental
:06:36. > :06:38.and physical health are often very closely related. If you feel OK
:06:39. > :06:45.physically, you are more likely to feel OK mentally. That doesn't mean
:06:46. > :06:48.that you can't be super fit and not have mental health problems, but
:06:49. > :06:53.physical fitness is important. Very interesting to chat with you. Thank

:07:56. > :08:11.Bone was in court. He appeared at Hull Magistrates'
:08:12. > :08:16.Court charged with 12 offences, four tells of robbery, but of attempted
:08:17. > :08:20.robbery, two of assault, one possession of an offensive weapon
:08:21. > :08:24.and one of session of an imitation firearm. He was remanded in custody
:08:25. > :08:39.and will go before Hull Crown Court next month. A vicar from wet Wang
:08:40. > :08:43.has been jailed for sexually abusing a boy 40s ago was working as a
:08:44. > :08:45.headteacher. The 63-year-old was working in the Bradford in the late
:08:46. > :08:50.1980s when he committed the offences. He was convicted of two
:08:51. > :08:53.counts of indecent assault but found not guilty of six similar offences.
:08:54. > :08:55.Plans for a futuristic hover train that could travel from Hull
:08:56. > :09:00.to Liverpool in 29 minutes have been submitted to transport bosses.

:10:26. > :10:30.The blisters underneath the river just down the road which is going to
:10:31. > :10:36.cause significant problems repairing it. What we are currently working on
:10:37. > :10:41.is providing an alternative supply through the blue pipes you can see
:10:42. > :10:45.running down the road behind me, which will start to move water back
:10:46. > :10:48.along the path of the main that is burst and start to restore supplies
:10:49. > :10:54.to customers today. Around 1000 homes in 16 villages have been left
:10:55. > :10:59.without water. Getting everything ready for the baby that is due for
:11:00. > :11:05.six weeks. It is a bit hard to get all the washing done and get all of
:11:06. > :11:08.the baby clothes prepared. We have bought some bottled water this
:11:09. > :11:14.morning. That is all we're going to do. Just carry on. It is not ideal.
:11:15. > :11:18.And it is not ideal that they haven't got water here. That is the
:11:19. > :11:24.problem. It is not just people affected. At this farm, the herd of
:11:25. > :11:28.30 pedigree cows and their calves are at risk due to the lack of
:11:29. > :11:33.water. According to my vet, we have a 12 hour window and we are now well
:11:34. > :11:39.over 24 hours with no appreciable water for the animals. I am fetching
:11:40. > :11:43.from the neighbours and trying to keep them watered. Tankers have been
:11:44. > :11:48.pumping water into the system so some villages do have a low pressure
:11:49. > :11:51.water supply, but for those who don't, Anglian Water has been
:11:52. > :11:58.dropping bottles of water and collection points across the Worlds,
:11:59. > :12:01.like this one here at McAfee. Anglian Water say that it will take
:12:02. > :12:07.some time to return full pressure to the system so it may be tomorrow
:12:08. > :12:17.before full supply is our returned to the whole area. That water may be

:21:49. > :21:57.At four foot 11, Barbara Buttrick was known as the mighty atom,
:21:58. > :22:02.fighting prejudice as well as opponents in the 30s, 40s and 50s.
:22:03. > :22:10.She grew up near Hull, she found a newspaper article that started
:22:11. > :22:16.boxing career. He used a box in the boxing booths around 1914-18. I
:22:17. > :22:21.thought, if she could box, then so could I. So I bought myself a
:22:22. > :22:26.harmless thing that you put a football in and made a punch bag out
:22:27. > :22:31.of it. Then, Barbara headed to London looking for a trainer and
:22:32. > :22:34.opponents but she ended up touring the boxing booths in travelling
:22:35. > :22:38.fairground is because the boxing world would not entertain women
:22:39. > :22:45.fighters. When I was 18 I went to London. I went to box in the Mayfair
:22:46. > :22:50.gym. After that I used to work on the boxing booths. Nobody would
:22:51. > :22:54.encourage it. They were so down on it. They would put the other girls
:22:55. > :23:01.completely off. I used to spar with the men, yes. In 1952, Barbara came
:23:02. > :23:06.here to the United States, in search of opponents and a professional
:23:07. > :23:16.boxing licence. And she found them. And in 1937 she beat Phyllis Kugler
:23:17. > :23:20.to become the world women's boxing champion. She trained in a gym it in
:23:21. > :23:24.Miami Beach alongside Muhammad Ali. She retired having lost only one
:23:25. > :23:29.fight. She still supports women's boxing. She came to London in 2012
:23:30. > :23:33.the seat in the Olympics for the first time in history. It is women
:23:34. > :23:37.like her who have made it possible for me to box today. Previously
:23:38. > :23:40.women's boxing was not accepted so I cannot imagine how hard it was for
:23:41. > :23:48.her to keep pushing, keep training and try to be taken seriously. I owe
:23:49. > :23:53.a big thank you to Barbara. I never thought that it would develop to the
:23:54. > :23:57.point where it has now where it has gone into the Olympics. I was very
:23:58. > :24:03.pleased about that. If I was a kid today I would be a happy kid. In
:24:04. > :24:07.2010, Barbara became the only woman boxer to be inducted into the
:24:08. > :24:12.Florida boxing Hall of Fame alongside Muhammad Ali. Acceptance
:24:13. > :24:16.that she could only have drained of when she first pulled on a pair of
:24:17. > :24:21.boxing gloves more than seven decades ago. -- only have dreams of.
:24:22. > :24:29.Barbara's sharing more of her life story at the weekend's Women

:24:56. > :25:00.that includes whole, as UK City of Culture. Barbara is coming over from
:25:01. > :25:10.Miami Beach to speak this Saturday and I will be interviewing her
:25:11. > :25:15.onstage at City Hall. The comedian Lucy Beaumont will wither, and
:25:16. > :25:20.Maureen Lipman, the actor, so there is a chance to hear from these women
:25:21. > :25:30.and to celebrate their achievements. It is part of a worldwide movement.
:25:31. > :25:36.So there will be other women in Australia, America, debating these
:25:37. > :25:41.issues at the same time. And Anne-Marie took the former world
:25:42. > :25:45.boxing champion Johnny Nelson to meet Barbara. And you can see their
