:00:00. > :00:10.Good evening and welcome to BBC Look North.

:00:11. > :00:13.Protesters target the owners of the country's biggest

:00:14. > :00:17.power station, claiming they're damaging the environment.

:00:18. > :00:18.They don't like the negative publicity.

:00:19. > :00:21.as a biomass-only company, but they're not.

:00:22. > :00:27.and nobody thinks that's sustainable.

:00:28. > :00:30.Police say the discovery of two bodies at the same house

:00:31. > :00:39.The newspaper front page that's caused anger in Skegness.

:00:40. > :00:42.Our sports teams head into a weekend of games that could have a huge

:00:43. > :00:53.And the Easter weekend is nearly upon us. What's the weather doing? I

:00:54. > :01:02.will have a full forecast shortly. It's the country's biggest

:01:03. > :01:07.power station and today It's emerged that police spent

:01:08. > :01:10.days searching a house in a South Lincolnshire village

:01:11. > :01:12.before they found the body It's after the body of a man,

:01:13. > :01:19.thought to be Lawrence Williams, was found at this house

:01:20. > :01:21.last Friday in Lutton. Bernice Williams, weren't

:01:22. > :01:24.found until the Sunday. Laura Foster has been

:01:25. > :01:25.following the story. What more can you tell us

:01:26. > :01:28.about what the police The police say that they've carried

:01:29. > :01:32.out postmortem examinations, details of that are likely

:01:33. > :01:35.to come out during an inquest. But for this story, you need

:01:36. > :01:38.to go back three weeks. Bernice Williams was

:01:39. > :01:40.a mother, a former church warden and a mentor at

:01:41. > :01:43.a school in Holbeach. She was last seen

:01:44. > :01:49.on the 25th of March. Two weeks later,

:01:50. > :01:53.so that's last Friday, Lincolnshire Police found the body

:01:54. > :01:55.of her husband, Lawrence, It's understood Mr

:01:56. > :01:58.Williams killed himself. But it wasn't until two days

:01:59. > :02:01.after that - the Sunday just gone - that forensic officers found

:02:02. > :02:03.Mrs Williams' body and that was How she died - that's not

:02:04. > :02:08.yet been established. It's also not yet been revealed how

:02:09. > :02:12.long the couple had been dead for. Today the headteacher

:02:13. > :02:13.at Westmere Primary School where Bernice worked,

:02:14. > :02:15.Karyn Wiles, said they were shocked and saddened

:02:16. > :02:18.by her death, describing her as a friendly, kind-hearted team

:02:19. > :02:21.member who will be missed Lincolnshire Police says

:02:22. > :02:26.it is not looking for anyone else and is passing a file

:02:27. > :02:30.to the coroner, and an inquest could take place

:02:31. > :02:34.as soon as next week. Humberside Police is told it has

:02:35. > :02:57.to do more to protect children It receives millions from the public

:02:58. > :03:00.purse every year to subsidise green electricity, but campaigners claim

:03:01. > :03:03.of Drax power station isn't helping the environment and that is costing

:03:04. > :03:07.us all in our energy bills. A protest against the burning of wood

:03:08. > :03:12.pellets at its sights on your Google was held today. Our reporter Carolyn

:03:13. > :03:14.Bilton was at that protest and she is live there now. Why is this so

:03:15. > :03:25.controversial? They used to burn coal year. Now

:03:26. > :03:28.they also burn wood pellets. Some may see that as a necessity to

:03:29. > :03:34.enable us to boil our kettles, and hurl our lights. But others see it

:03:35. > :03:37.as a huge waste of money that is damaging our environment and the

:03:38. > :03:39.environmentalists that I spoke to today are calling for a complete we

:03:40. > :03:50.can think. -- rethink. If you want to get your message to

:03:51. > :03:54.the top of a company, this is the place to do it. The Drax AGM taking

:03:55. > :03:59.place in this hotel in York is the biggest event in the company's

:04:00. > :04:04.calendar. Today, these protesters came to ask Drax to rethink how it

:04:05. > :04:08.produces our Alec visited. They don't like the negative publicity.

:04:09. > :04:12.They try and place themselves as a biomass only company. But that is a

:04:13. > :04:18.lie. Half the energy comes from coal and nobody think that's sustainable.

:04:19. > :04:23.Drax operates the UK's largest power station, supplying about 8% of

:04:24. > :04:26.people country's bellicosity. It burns and 30 million tonnes of wood

:04:27. > :04:32.and 3 million tonnes of coal. The wood pellets come from trees chopped

:04:33. > :04:36.down in the US, a process Drax argues is sustainable because it

:04:37. > :04:40.constantly replaces those trees it has cut down. The company claims

:04:41. > :04:46.since moving to biomass, it now makes carbon savings of more than

:04:47. > :04:50.80% compared to coal. In fact, the operation is so huge yet there is

:04:51. > :04:59.they're producing 16% of all of the UK's renewable energy. For these

:05:00. > :05:03.campaigners, it may maybe a renewable energy, but it is damaging

:05:04. > :05:07.the environment. They want to see Government money spent on what they

:05:08. > :05:14.call real renewables, like solar or wind. Can protests like this

:05:15. > :05:18.seriously make a difference and make a company like Drax stop what it's

:05:19. > :05:23.doing? Well, hopefully we will build from here. It is millions of our

:05:24. > :05:27.money. The money is coming out of a city built and we are saying, we do

:05:28. > :05:32.people want that to be spent of things that are genuine solutions

:05:33. > :05:37.like wind, solar, energy efficiency. It may have been a relatively small

:05:38. > :05:40.protest to fight the might of the UK's largest power station, but for

:05:41. > :05:47.these people today, it certainly wasn't a waste of their energy.

:05:48. > :05:53.Well, it is worth mentioning that some have seen what is happening

:05:54. > :05:58.here with the use of biomass as a complete reinvention of a power

:05:59. > :06:04.station, but it has come at a price. The company's underlying profits

:06:05. > :06:08.fell from 46 million to 21 million last year. It is also worth

:06:09. > :06:11.mentioning that it does benefit our region. There has been significant

:06:12. > :06:17.investment at the Humber port to bring in these wood pellets to be

:06:18. > :06:21.Drax power station cure behind me. Biomass is a renewable energy,

:06:22. > :06:26.Peter, but it is a controversial one.

:06:27. > :06:27.It seems that way. Thank you very much indeed, Carolyn Bilton outside

:06:28. > :06:29.Drax power station. Two men have been charged after

:06:30. > :06:32.two firefighters were attacked and threatened with an imitation

:06:33. > :06:34.firearm in Spalding. It happened on Monday evening

:06:35. > :06:36.after they were called Both needed treatment

:06:37. > :06:39.for their injuries. The Fire Brigades Union has

:06:40. > :06:42.condemned the attack. It's an utterly disgraceful act

:06:43. > :06:45.to attack somebody that For instance, attending a house fire

:06:46. > :06:53.to try and rescue somebody or try to rescue them

:06:54. > :06:55.from entrapment in cars and firefighters, police officers

:06:56. > :06:57.and ambulance staff do dangerous enough jobs as it is without having

:06:58. > :07:01.to undergo attacks whilst trying to,

:07:02. > :07:05.you know, commit their duty. Staff on Virgin Trains East Coast

:07:06. > :07:09.are to stage a 48-hour strike at the end of the month

:07:10. > :07:12.in a row over jobs Members of the Rail,

:07:13. > :07:17.Maritime and Transport union will walk out on April

:07:18. > :07:20.28th and 29th, the first two days of

:07:21. > :07:24.the Tour de Yorkshire cycle race. If we were to strike

:07:25. > :07:27.on a Monday to Thursday, we'd get accused of hitting

:07:28. > :07:28.the regular commuter. There is never a good

:07:29. > :07:30.time to strike. Our members lose money,

:07:31. > :07:33.but both ourselves and the travelling public know

:07:34. > :07:47.this is all about their safety The announcement of a 48-hour

:07:48. > :07:50.strike, others a bit later on at half past ten, I will be talking to

:07:51. > :07:53.a member of the RMT union at have. Offensive, patronising

:07:54. > :07:54.and insulting. Those are just some of the words

:07:55. > :07:57.used to describe a pro-EU The New European uses an image

:07:58. > :08:04.of the famous Jolly Fisherman in its latest edition,

:08:05. > :08:08.which claims the town could be But the town's MP and mayor

:08:09. > :08:15.have led criticism of the article, which the editor has

:08:16. > :08:18.described as "satire." More from our political

:08:19. > :08:29.editor Tim Iredale. For more than a century, the image

:08:30. > :08:33.of the Jolly Fisherman has been used to promote Skegness. But some in the

:08:34. > :08:37.town were shocked today when they saw the resort's mascot on the front

:08:38. > :08:41.of a newspaper on an article questioning why many in Skegness

:08:42. > :08:49.voted for Brexit. I think it's awful! I mean, the Jolly Fisherman,

:08:50. > :08:53.it's dreadful. The New European is a newspaper designed to appeal to the

:08:54. > :09:00.40% of voters who wanted to remain in the European Union in last June's

:09:01. > :09:04.referendum. The toll of the article has rankled many here which seems to

:09:05. > :09:08.suggest that Skegness is a town that could be hit hard by Brexit. If you

:09:09. > :09:12.look around here, you will see that that image is totally not based on

:09:13. > :09:16.reality at all. There is massive investment taking place in the town.

:09:17. > :09:22.The town is busy, we are the fourth or fifth most visited resort in the

:09:23. > :09:27.country. This is to drum up publicity for the publication

:09:28. > :09:29.itself. A London PR firm hired by the publishers even suggested

:09:30. > :09:34.Skegness was the seaside resort that Brexit could close down and added

:09:35. > :09:39.the addition would start up some controversy locally. They were

:09:40. > :09:43.right. I think the problem is that it is just deeply patronising. This

:09:44. > :09:46.idea that voters who wanted to leave the European Union did so for

:09:47. > :09:51.simplistic reasons that kind of want to return the country to the 1950s

:09:52. > :09:58.is just not what anyone really understands. If they talk to voters

:09:59. > :10:03.across Lincolnshire who had a very comprehensive understanding of the

:10:04. > :10:08.issues at play. Even one of the pro-EU contributors to the article

:10:09. > :10:14.said he was not happy. In discussing Brexit, portraying people as being

:10:15. > :10:19.extremely rude, crude and hostile in the way it is portrayed in that

:10:20. > :10:25.caricature on the front page is very regrettable. I deplore it. Speaking

:10:26. > :10:30.about this front page, the editor said, I hope more people will be

:10:31. > :10:33.broad shouldered enough to laugh at us poking fun at one of the most

:10:34. > :10:39.iconic images of British poster design. Perhaps some in Skegness may

:10:40. > :10:40.reflect on the famous quotes that day's news is tomorrow's fish and

:10:41. > :10:41.chip paper. We made several requests for

:10:42. > :10:46.an interview with The New European, but they didn't want to come

:10:47. > :10:48.on the programme. You might have a view

:10:49. > :10:50.on the story though. If you live in Skegness,

:10:51. > :11:06.what do you make of the town You've seen the front page, what do

:11:07. > :11:11.you think of it? Your views whether you are for Brexit or four remain.

:11:12. > :11:12.Could Skegness close down as Tim mentioned there in the report?

:11:13. > :11:34.A vital game for The Tigers as they look to stay out

:11:35. > :11:37.of the relegation zone in the Premier League.

:11:38. > :11:40.And Kofi will be here with a round up of the week ahead

:11:41. > :12:00.Keep your photos coming in. We sure one every night. Tonight's was taken

:12:01. > :12:03.by Archie and it is the Humber Bridge taken from

:12:04. > :12:12.Barton-upon-Humber. Thank you very much. Another picture tomorrow.

:12:13. > :12:16.An extra picture for you tonight. An e-mail from Bruce says my

:12:17. > :12:20.granddaughter won first prize at her school with his egg presentation

:12:21. > :12:24.today. It is a Peter Leavey egg. We think it is a very good likeness.

:12:25. > :12:27.It's brilliant! The one thing I would say is the hair colour, did

:12:28. > :12:39.they run out of great? I it needs more grey.

:12:40. > :12:43.If anyone laughing? They are laughing.

:12:44. > :12:46.I'm just saying! A brilliant likeness, it looks very much like

:12:47. > :12:49.you. As is you, I will let you get away

:12:50. > :12:55.with it. Hello. It is merely the Easter

:12:56. > :12:57.weekend of many of us, that means an extended weekend. Lucky things if

:12:58. > :13:02.you are offering extra couple of days. I will get to that in just a

:13:03. > :13:06.second. Good Friday will be a bit of a cloudy start. Patchy rain as well.

:13:07. > :13:11.And here it comes, just waiting in the wings. Light and patchy. You can

:13:12. > :13:15.see spits and spots here. Generally speaking, by the time this gets to

:13:16. > :13:20.us across East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, it loses a lot of its

:13:21. > :13:23.strength. Loads of seven or eight Celsius with the breeze picking up

:13:24. > :13:31.overnight. High waters for tomorrow. Hull, if I look carefully, the old

:13:32. > :13:36.guys are going. The sun rises at 6:03am. Back to the forecast for

:13:37. > :13:39.tomorrow, a cloudy, grey start. We will see some brightness especially

:13:40. > :13:43.across parts of Lincolnshire. The rain will keep piling in from the

:13:44. > :13:47.West, but it looks like a lots of blue here on my graphics. That said,

:13:48. > :13:51.there will be plenty of dry weather around in between the showers and a

:13:52. > :13:56.lot of what you are seeing here will be right, patchy rain. 12 or 13

:13:57. > :14:00.Celsius just about does it as far as top temperatures go. That breeze

:14:01. > :14:04.will pick up. Let's look at the weekend. Saturday, I think that'll

:14:05. > :14:08.be our best day. A ridge of high pressure, if I moved out of the way,

:14:09. > :14:13.keeping things generally speaking quite settled on Saturday. A change

:14:14. > :14:15.on Sunday. Here comes a weather fronts to introduce thicker cloud

:14:16. > :14:22.and also more in the way of patchy rain. The old heavy shower as well.

:14:23. > :14:26.I think as far as the Easter weekend is go, Sunday will be cloudy,

:14:27. > :14:32.largely dry by the time we get to Monday but turning a fair bit

:14:33. > :14:35.colder. Temperatures dip as we import air coming up from the kind

:14:36. > :14:40.of North West. I will let you get away with it. You

:14:41. > :14:42.can try birds out of the trees! Have a nice Easter weekend.

:14:43. > :14:55.Thank you, Peter. There is a heated pool opening

:14:56. > :14:56.tomorrow for its longest ever season in Pennington 's bar.

:14:57. > :14:58.Humberside Police have been told they must do more to protect

:14:59. > :15:02.That's the view of the police watchdog after a recent inspection.

:15:03. > :15:05.The HMIC says the forces call handling teams need more training

:15:06. > :15:09.and officers need to improve the way they handle cases

:15:10. > :15:15.Behind closed doors, or on the streets,

:15:16. > :15:18.some young people are at risk of abuse.

:15:19. > :15:21.But today, inspectors said Humberside Police hasn't been

:15:22. > :15:24.protecting vulnerable children well enough.

:15:25. > :15:26.They said some good work is being done,

:15:27. > :15:33.Just some concerns highlighted were records not being kept properly,

:15:34. > :15:39.not sharing information it found with others who need to know,

:15:40. > :15:41.and that police weren't doing enough to help children at risk

:15:42. > :15:46.For example, understanding the link between them going missing

:15:47. > :15:58.This requires accurate intelligence collection of information and

:15:59. > :16:02.crucially sharing that information with partners. We saw good

:16:03. > :16:03.partnership working across Humberside, but again, more needs to

:16:04. > :16:04.be done. The impact of young

:16:05. > :16:05.people being sexually exploited has been highlighted by cases

:16:06. > :16:08.in Rochdale, Rotherham and Oxford. A national charity says it's vital

:16:09. > :16:21.police do understand the signs. It's really important that people

:16:22. > :16:26.spot the signs of child sexual abuse early so that we can get in there

:16:27. > :16:31.and help to disrupt activity around children and keep them safe. One

:16:32. > :16:35.expert says police face a huge and complex task combating sexual abuse

:16:36. > :16:39.on the Internet. I'm working with the cyber crime unit of Humberside

:16:40. > :16:44.Police and I have seen excellent work. We need to focus on this area

:16:45. > :16:46.because we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg Ruby. So we need to

:16:47. > :16:48.put more resources into this. Humberside Police says it's

:16:49. > :16:50.already made improvements, introducing staff training

:16:51. > :17:01.and bringing in specialists. My reassurance to the public is that

:17:02. > :17:04.we have taken significant steps to make the improvements that we have

:17:05. > :17:08.been given to make sure it is consistent. We welcome the

:17:09. > :17:11.recommendations and have acted upon them, but actually we are not being

:17:12. > :17:16.complacent and will make sure that we continue to act on them. Do you

:17:17. > :17:19.accept that you have been getting it wrong with some children,

:17:20. > :17:24.particularly when serious cases of child exploitation? We absolutely

:17:25. > :17:28.accept this and we have found that ourselves, we haven't got it right

:17:29. > :17:32.every single time. We have reinvested in training our staff,

:17:33. > :17:36.recruited additional specialist officers and have ?1 million worth

:17:37. > :17:37.of resources going into our department and it's also why it

:17:38. > :17:40.remains our number one priority. Failures over child protection

:17:41. > :17:42.were a major reason Justine Curran was asked to quit as Chief

:17:43. > :17:45.Constable in Feburary. Humberside Police says it has

:17:46. > :17:47.now started to look out You've been getting in touch

:17:48. > :17:56.with us about trams. 70 years since trams last ran

:17:57. > :17:59.on the streets of Hull, councillors have discussed plans

:18:00. > :18:02.which would see a new tram network, using existing

:18:03. > :18:18.railway lines and roads. Many people said that they would

:18:19. > :18:19.like to see trolleybuses back, so thank you for all of the e-mails,

:18:20. > :18:20.texts and tweets. John says "Running the trams down

:18:21. > :18:23.Newland Avenue would be a huge joke. Traffic can barely get down

:18:24. > :18:54.there now for parked cars." I think Martin is a bit of an expert

:18:55. > :18:58.on the subject of trams! Thank you very much for those and everyone who

:18:59. > :18:59.wants to see the return of trolleybuses.

:19:00. > :19:02.It's one of sport's busiest weekends with many of our teams playing

:19:03. > :19:06.The results could have a big impact on where our football teams finish

:19:07. > :19:09.Our sports reporter Simon Clark is here.

:19:10. > :19:20.Lincoln City could take a giant stride towards the Football League

:19:21. > :19:23.as the National League draws to a conclusion.

:19:24. > :19:27.But we'll start in the Premier League where Hull City try and win

:19:28. > :19:31.just their second away game this season which, if they do,

:19:32. > :19:38.Last time out, this Manchester City victory halted Hull City's momentum.

:19:39. > :19:40.But with nearest rivals Swansea also losing,

:19:41. > :19:42.it means the bottom of the Premier League

:19:43. > :19:46.sees Hull City eyeing possible survival.

:19:47. > :19:48.Well, there's no doubt about it that the

:19:49. > :19:51.green, green grass of home has represented huge success

:19:52. > :19:57.He is unbeaten in the East Riding, but go away,

:19:58. > :20:01.They've not won on their travels since August.

:20:02. > :20:05.But this game against Stoke represents a great opportunity

:20:06. > :20:11.Even if the result is not the best, we played against very good teams

:20:12. > :20:18.In some moments, I feel maybe we deserved a little bit more.

:20:19. > :20:21.The others, not so much, but it's football.

:20:22. > :20:25.Of course, we need and we want to improve the results

:20:26. > :20:29.In the National League, it's looking good

:20:30. > :20:32.for Lincoln City as they continue to top the table with Tranmere Rovers

:20:33. > :20:37.Easter sees the Imps facing Torquay United

:20:38. > :20:49.A great opportunity to stake a place back in the league.

:20:50. > :20:52.If you are the best that you can be, day in, day out,
