:00:50. > :00:58.As archaeologists, we find skeletal remains quite often,
:00:59. > :01:01.but to actually find someone whose name you know and to know the date
:01:02. > :01:06.of when they died and their position within society is very rare.
:01:07. > :01:09.This place was built in 1193 and quickly became one
:01:10. > :01:12.of the richest religious houses in England.
:01:13. > :01:15.But that does not mean that Richard's life was easy.
:01:16. > :01:18.He lived in a time which was known as the Great Famine,
:01:19. > :01:20.and evidence from his skeleton suggests he had anything
:01:21. > :01:26.A slight dent in his skull shows he suffered violent trauma,
:01:27. > :01:31.and a close look at his teeth reveal a period of stress or malnutrition.
:01:32. > :01:34.He was around 35 years old when he died.
:01:35. > :01:37.It's important because it gives us a little snapshot of the past
:01:38. > :01:42.As archaeologists, the past is often nameless and faceless.
:01:43. > :01:46.Here we can look at an individual, a named individual, we can find
:01:47. > :01:49.out about their lives, and it kind of puts a bit of a
:01:50. > :01:54.human face on a century that is, you know, a long time ago.
:01:55. > :01:56.This find is part of a bigger project.
:01:57. > :01:58.Last year 48 skeletons, many of them children,
:01:59. > :02:04.When the research is complete, Richard's remains will be laid
:02:05. > :02:13.to rest at a church in Barton-on-Humber.
